My daughter took a weekend class and I was so amazed at how much confidence she has now and she is able to speak up about things she does not like even with her friends.
Thank you Kidpower!
Kidpower has taught me how to talk to my children about scary topics in a fun, non-scary way. My kids left the workshop saying, "That was so awesome!! When can we do another Kidpower class? "
Thanks to the expertise of the Kidpower curriculum, the whole family is aware, calm and confident about our safety.
Great Organization and Wonderful Program. Kidpower Safety Skills have and will continue to save lives.
I honestly can't begin to enumerate the ways that Kidpower has changed my life. On a personal level, I can say that the people safety principals I have have learned from Kidpower are applicable everywhere and anywhere. I have countless "Kidpower moments" throughout the course of my day, whether its dealing with an irate client or excited toddler, or my own self-talk on the drive home. Regardless of the situation, when I apply the concepts, language, and skills the Kidpower practices, I am greatly benefitted, and so are those around me. Beyond that, witnessing Kidpower at work, both in workshop experiences and within the inner workings of the organization, has awakened in me the realization that change is totally possible. We can change the world around us for the better. Kidpower is, and I can too.
Kidpower's approach to safety is so positive and hands-on, it just stays with you and helps build positive relationships everywhere in your life.
After doing a course in Switzerland, I was hooked and 21 years later we now have taught over 36,000 people in New Zealand, where I live with my family.
People who have done Kidpower, Teenpower or Fullpower so often report to not only feel and be safer but also happier.
The organisation upholds high values and standards. It's definitely one that deserves to get five stars. ( :
The Fullpower course I took in 1992 changed my perception of the world. I am small, a woman, love traveling and doing all kinds of independent activities. Before Fullpower, I always felt that the world was an unfair, unsafe place for people like me. I felt that I was at the mercy of stronger people who could overpower me whenever they wanted to. Through Fullpower I experienced that I can access the innate, amazing power we all have, that have nothing to do with physical power. Like the small fluffy cat, we all have the ferocious tiger in us that can be unleashed when we need it and that can give us more strength and focus than we physically and mentally have. (i.e. A physically unfit women lifted a car when her baby was underneath it.) I was already a 3rd degree black belt then, but Fullpower gave me the experience, support and the tools to EXPERIENCE that I - and all beings - are equipped with emergency energy and emergency power. Having this knowledge and experience freed up my life, put me at peace and enabled me to enjoy the beauty of the world, enjoy fellow human beings, my family and life in general. It is my passion to help others to have access to this truly empowering experience. Even just two hours of professionally coached full force work and carefully formatted scenarios can be life-changing. What I further like about Fullpower is: - We don’t need to teach - we just facilitate and create an opportunity for women to find out what they actually already got. - It works for women with disabilities, low fitness, and trauma. - The positive impact this has in all areas of life and relationships. - The experience lasts (usually for decades). - It builds community. - It’s fun! I want all people to have a Kidpower, a Teenpower and a Fullpower training as part of their general education. This is ambitious as we still struggle to secure funding for the next 12 months. However, I think it’s a matter of building enough momentum. I think Fullpower is a revolution from inside out, one person at a time. Once a mass of people experienced what a Fullpower session does for their lives, their families and their communities, the movement will become unstoppable. I’m proud that the Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower Trust NZ reached over 24,500 people in New Zealand since 1993 with the help of my family and hundreds of supporters, including the New Zealand Police, the New Zealand Ministry of Justice, many professionals, etc.. Your support will help us - reach more women who can’t pay and who are usually the ones who benefit most from our empowering and - build ‘critical mass’ to get to the next level of capacity, impact and recognition. Please spread the word and/or give freely. Thank you!
Kidpower has enabled me to find my voice, and to learn how to set my own boundaries better, to be and act aware and safer, and to be more assertive, while still being respectful.
I am a martial arts instructor that regularly teaches children and adults about safety, bullying and self defense. The articles and resources that Kidpower put together and provide are some of my favorite. The way they relate to the parents is different than anywhere else, with time tested tips combined with recent stories in the news. I love seeing a newsletter pop into my email. It helps me stay relevant and up to date in my teachings.
I've been to a workshop with my daughter and granddaughter and my granddaughter loved it and learned some skills that she likes using. I am a family law attorney and I routinely carry a kidpower coloring workbook in my briefcase. When I see a bored, cranky small child in the courthouse hall who is figiting and driving his/her parent nuts, I give the pagges to them and so far, both parent and child have become interested and entertained. The materials offered by this group are very worthwhile and helpful.
As a family law attorney, I gave the wotkbook to a client who'5 year old was acting angry and hitting children who said mean things to him. He wouldn't let her stop reading it to him and wanted to start over when they were finished. The next day he told his mom that when a child had been mean to him, he decided that the child was not safe and used his walk away power to solve the problem. He and my client were very pleased. This really should be taught in schools.

Thank you! I'm so glad Kidpower has been of help!
i teach Kidpower skill for hundreds kids in Vietnam, many of them are disabled kids, and they just love the skill, they also had a good time while learning the skills
The organization should be applauded for the wonderful work it is doing to create awareness and train safety skills to all ages and ability.
As a Kidpower Instructor as well as a PE teacher, I can honestly say that having a 'Kidpower culture' in a school helps to promote respect and boundaries for each student. It offers useful tools to use on the playground as well as in my PE classes. Along with that, the care and concern that the Kidpower administration provides for its Instructors is a shining example for us to pass on to all who attend Kidpower workshops.
I have attended the Kidpower instructor training and I am very much impressed by the simple and effective methods used to advocate and teach child safety.
We love Kidpower! I teach at Sun Dragon Martial Arts and Self Defense in Austin, Texas, and we use many of the Kidpower resources. They have a great newsletter with lots of free articles, and I would highly recommend their books to any teacher, parent, or other adult who wants to be able to talk with kids about safety in a way that is fun and not at all scary.
As an elementary/middle school Principal and Licensed Educational Psychologist, I have experienced the power of Kidpower through workshops my students have attended. The positive, proactive approach is one of the most effective strategies to keep children safe, secure and confident. In a time when we often turn on the news to hear only the negative, I find it important to acknowledge such a forward-thinking organization. Kidpower has contributed to a healthy, supportive climate at my school and I am thankful for their work!
My name is James Shang, I am a martial arts and self defence instructor in Australia. For over 30 years I have ben providing self defence training. Through a book by Gavin De Becker I came across KidPower. After researching KidPower i ordered their instructors manual and was amazed at content. The KidPower drills and lesson plans have exponentially increased the effectiveness of our Kids Safety Classes. I actually took holidays so I could immerse myself in the book. I can assure you the 5 star rating is well and truly deserved. KidPower do a brilliant job at providing the most effective and fun way to teach Children how to keep safe.
I'm a kindergarten teacher in Switzerland and I've got two little girls myself. I think Kidpower is great! This organization is doing a very important job! The workshops are big fun and the kids learn how to be safe in everyday situations! I wished, every child and all parents could do a Kidpower workshop over here... :)
Kidpower is one of our favorite organizations, one we make a point to donate to regularly. They help kids and the adults who love them navigate in a sometimes confusing and unsafe world, and they do with heart and humor and lots of cheering, which is really fun. Helping kids grow up to trust themselves and feel at home in their bodies is one of the best gifts we can give.
For many years I volunteered my expertise in marketing and Internet marketing to KidPower because of my opinion of their work. What they do is of the highest possible standard and effectiveness, and the organization operates with outstanding levels of quality control and ethics. Their integration of all the key aspects of self-protection and personal safety (understanding, awareness, intuition, emotion, and verbal and physical skills) into a thoroughly positive and life-enhancing process is extraordinary. I have a third-degree black belt in Aikido, and have practiced karate. I have taught workshops similar to Kidpower's, and am intimately acquainted with this sort of approach. I would recommend them to any person or organization - for children and adults.
I've used the resources of Kidpower Teenpower Fullpower International In my work for many years. In this time I've seen the quality and accessibility continually improving. I feel confident whenever i refer a client to the www.Kidpower,org website, knowing that what they'll find there will be the state-of-the art in the people safety field. I especially appreciate the many free resources available to everyone and how Kidpower quickly responds to personal safety issues in the news with practical, empowering advice.
I have worked with this organization for fifteen years and chose to do so because it is truly makes a difference in people's lives. This is an interpersonal safety education organization that helps individuals reduce their risk of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. I began as a volunteer and have helped our Center train more than 28,500 individuals since 1994. This is an organization that values respect amongst its staff and clientele. The staff of this organization work here because they are completely committed and dedicated to its mission and that is extraordinary.
I am an instructor and trainer. Every class I teach strengthens my commitment to everyone's safety and well-being. I appreciate how the Kidpower programs respect individuals and support choices while imparting skills for articulating needs, wants and boundaries in safe and respectful ways. I have witnessed the sense of personal power and strength emerge as students have learned the "emergency-only skills". It is amazing and gratifying to see women, men and children find their voices and use their own power to successfully defend themselves.
