Mission: Our Mission: JobTrain is committed to helping those who are most in need to succeed.  Our purpose is to transform the lives of people in our community through assessment, attitude and job skills training, and high potential career placement. Our Vision: We create a unique opportunity for people to develop personal and career goals, and to achieve their aspirations by acquiring relevant skills and positive attitudes about themselves and their potential.  People are drawn to JobTrain for our high-value training, effective personal development programs, impressive results, and respect for the individual.  JobTrain delivers on the promise of a better life. Our Philosophy and Beliefs: We believe in the dignity and potential of every individual. We believe that with opportunity and motivation, people will help themselves. We believe that people need and want a hand up, not a hand out.

Results: In Fiscal Year 2017, JobTrain’s placement and retention rates for its vocational training were high: 83% completed their training program; 81% of these graduates were placed in jobs, and of these 85% had a job one year later and many had been promoted. For our population of formerly incarcerated participants, our recidivism rate is 37%, well below the statewide average of almost 60%.

Target demographics: Low-income adults, youth, and children from East Palo Alto, east Menlo Park, and Redwood City, CA.

Direct beneficiaries per year: more than 7,000. Of these, 66% were adults and 34% were youth; 95% had very or extremely low income. 34% of our vocational training program students were formerly incarcerated.

Programs: Through JobTrain’s career training, job placement and support services, we help people transform their lives from poverty and unemployment to financial stability and sustainable careers. Career training programs include: Business Administration, Coding - Web Developer Bootcamp; Culinary Arts, Laborers Construction Fundamentals, Medical Assistant, Professional Health Care Worker, & Project Build: Carpenters Pre-Apprenticeship/Green Technology. To help students further their careers, through a partnership with Cañada College, graduates of our Business Administration, Coding Bootcamp earn college credits.
