Mission: Hogar Infantil provides a home for orphaned, abused, neglected, and abandoned children of Tijuana. Our mission is to provide for them a secure home and a loving family in which to develop and grow.

Results: Hogar Infantil has operated the home for 35 years and has raised hundreds of children.

Target demographics: We serve boys and girls from infancy through adolescence who have been placed under the care of the Mexican government.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Each year, approximately 60 children spend several weeks to the entire year at our home.

Programs: During the period beginning may 1 2014 and ending april 30 2015, hogar infantil, inc. Provided most of the financial support needed for the operation of casa hogar la gloria, ac in tijuana, mexico. This support provided a safe home for 33 children, aged 2 months to 14 years over the course of the year. Our support paid the salaries and benefits of the 19 full-time employees who care for the children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, throughout the year. Our funding also covered the cost of special workshops for the children and staff development for the employees. Four of the children received physical therapy, and all children received psychological evaluations and age appropriate therapies. Infants received specialized early childhood stimulation therapy. Sixteen of the children were enrolled in a summer-camp program. School age children were enrolled in age appropriate full time education at three different schools. Some of the older children are involved in after school programs in karate. All meals, clothing, housing and personal costs for the children were covered. We covered expenses for transportation, including vehicle maintenance and repair; utilities including gas, electric and water; building maintenance and repair, and all state and local taxes associated with the facility. We also engaged the services of a consultant to assist full-time staff in hewing more closely to best practices in childcare, and we engaged local legal counsel to help navigate complex mexican law in bringing casa hogar more firmly into compliance with various federal, state and local regulations.
