I have been involved with HCC for 10 years, and on the board of advisers for six years.
HCC has committed time, energy and resources to over 50 orphaned and destitute children in Nepal. Due to the recent earthquakes, that number will greatly increase, and HCC is stepping up to provide resources and education for these children who have lost homes and family.
What sets HCC apart is that they provide not only the basic education, food, shelter, and health care, but they have created a home for the children with a family-like environment, holiday celebrations, and emotional support. The children receive classes in communication, team-building and essential life skills. Educational field trips and tutoring services are available for them.
With a literacy rate of only 57.4% in Nepal, HCC's commitment to provide education makes a huge difference, not only in the lives of the children in their care, but for the future of Nepal as a whole. This commitment is extended to include college or technical training. HCC students are studying to become health assistants, lab technicians, nurses, pharmacists, IT engineers, hotel and business managers, and accountants.
I'm glad to be a part of this wonderful organization that contributes so much.
It is a pleasure and privilege to support HCC for the past 9 years through my sponsorship and being a member on the board of advisers. The work they do is immense. Just watching Man Maya grow into such a wonderful, loving and talented young woman gives me such hope for future generations. When one child's life is saved and transformed, the ripple effect cannot yet be measured, but it certainly can be imagined. I have had the pleasure of watching over 50 children's lives be transformed. Imagine the ripple that has caused!. How inspiring!
