They go the extra mile with a smile. Every animal that they come across will be cared for whether a horse or donkey or not. They put not just food in front of them but all of their love and time. I am proud to say that I support such an amazing organazation
This organization is of the utmost importance they not only rescue horese in distress but help to educate and assit with the working hosres and donkeys in the less fortunate arears were they are desperatley needed. I personaly have adopted from them . They are compassionate knowlegable and caring people who sometimes have to bare abuse . Without this organization our country would be a poorer place. They are angels . Bring care and respect to to the hard working equines and also thier owners. Please help where you can.
Highveld horse care unit gave me my dream back by giving me my amazing horse....he has brought such joy in my life, he is gentle, plasid and just WONDERFUL!!! I'm so grateful for the work they do and they are truely wonderful and caring people!!! I take my hat off to them for the work and effort they do for these animals!!!! You guys are amazing!!!
Was very impressed with the neatness of the Unit and the dedication that staff displayed towards the equines. This Unit is making a difference to the lives of so many horses and donkeys and deserves each and every person's support.
The Highveld Horse Care Unit do the most outstanding work. They sometimes work under cruel, inhumane, difficult situations but they always do their best to make the situations workable. They are compassionate, dedicated, passionate about what they do. They provide the most amazing services to everybody and never turn a soul away. I applaud them for their work, dedication and the fact they have limited resources to do what they do.
I live in Port Elizabeth and support the local branch of the Horse Care Unit which falls under the HHCU. To this end, we could not do the work which is being done without the HHCU. They travel great distances, face unbelievably obnoxious people, face danger with abused animals and violent owners and NEVER ever turn away from a crisis. In fact, HHCU is now even going further than SA and now helping horses in Lesotho. The need is so great and the cruelty so and with HHCU being the only horse rescue charity, they desperately need every bit of help which is given. Not only do they rescue horses but they also educate people on caring for their animals as well as helping out with blankets, food, farriery, dentistry and whatever else is needed. I would request that you consider the HHCU highly as a most deserving charity.
Having visited the HHCU a few times, it touches my heart to see how much they do for the neglected and abused horses who may not have had anyone come to their aid if the HHCU were not around. They are very necessary for our country's horses and do amazing work.
The highveld Horse Care Unit (aka HHCU) is a non profit organization that takes care of all equines far and wide. They provide their services, clinics, tack, deworming and hay to those that cannot afford it. They also try to educate people on how to better look after their horses, especially those that rely on their horses for an income.
The HIghveld Horsecare Unit is a non-profit organisation without any support other than from caring members of the public and adopters of horses / ponies and donkeys that become available. Working in hostile terrains and in situations for which experience cannot always prepare, these dedicated, caring professionals are always willing to go beyond the call of duty to rescue horses/ponies and donkeys. More often than not, they lack funds, equipment, medical supplies and basic welfare requirements but yet they still step up to the plate to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals they endeavour to rescue on a day to day basis. Their outreach programs to squatter farm residents has borne many success stories and has proven time and again that abuse of animals in these areas stems from ignorance of care. Many of these owners came back to show the staff the rewards of their hard work. The Jockey Club of South Africa needs to step up and take responsibility in assisting the Unit when complaints are laid against trainers who simply get rid of horses without first checking their new homes of their future care. These horses could be donated to the unit who would place them via their adoption program and in so doing ensure the welfare of the horse for time to come and also to recieve a small income via the adoption fee enabling them to carry on their wonderful work.
The highveld horse care unit are very special. They take every animal into considiration, does not matter how far. They always try to reslove an issue with the best intensions and then sometimes help needs to be called in as some owners do get a bit angry. They only think of the horses and donkies out there. They are always there to help no matter the time. All the work they do does make a big impact on the lives of the owners that learns from them and improves their horses. Its always loveley to see what big impact they have out there. If not for them there would be a lot of horses out there dieing and underfed and abbused, but they don't only care for the animals but the owners as well. The are doing a fantastic job.
