Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Disaster Aid, Human Service Organizations, Human Services, International, International Relief, Public Safety, Disaster Preparedness & Relief

Mission: Help the Children is a Christian nonprofit humanitarian relief organization dedicated to help alleviate the suffering of children and their families throughout the United States and around the world. Help the Children's mission is to provide increased self sufficiency by providing food, clothing, personal care items and medical supplies without regard to political affiliation, religious belief, or ethnic identity. Internationally: Help the Children is committed to serving a wide variety of people in diverse cultural and economic settings, who suffer emotional, spiritual and physical needs which result from conditions beyond their personal control.

Results: We faithfully feed children everyday across the United States and around the world. Our latest adventure is the completion of the hospital in Northern Guatemala. This hospital has 20 beds for overnight accommodations for treatment and follow up. We have a OBGYN room, pediatrics room, and three dental rooms. To read more about what we have done and are still doing, visit our website: www.helpthechildren.org.

Programs: Food Program: Our major concern is to meet the needs of the homeless and low-income families throughout the inner cities of America. Each week, we distribute 350,000 pounds of food products to more than 650 qualified distribution centers. The success of this program is due to the generosity of growers, food manufactures and bakeries that willingly donate their surplus goods. Medical Missions: We send doctors and dentist to provide treatment at free clinics throughout the world. Our goal is to provide medical and dental treatment to third world countries where such treatment is not readily available. Military Family Assistance Program: We we distribute our CARE-BOXES to military families who loved ones are fighting for our security. Spring Outreach Program: We helped provide over 25,000 pounds of turkeys and other food items and more than 50,000 toys on Easter Sunday in Los Angeles. Christmas program: HTC distributed over 15,000 toys to needy children along with their parents from the inner city who attended our Christmas parties. In addition, we distributed over 150,000 toys through our distribution centers throughout the Southern United States this past Christmas.

Help The Children manages to distribute essential resources to over 4,000 children and their families in Santa Clarita, CA, over 100,000 children and their families in Los Angeles, CA, 12 states in the USA, and 52 countries worldwide. Help The Children also manages to send resources to help areas affected by natural disasters, as well. Help The Children does all this with only a 1% overhead. Yes, out of every dollar, 99 cents goes directly to fill the need. They are able to do so much with so little due to the president's direction, amazing donation network, and the awesome volunteers that are responsible for most of the work that is accomplished. As a faith based non-profit humanitarian relief organization, I feel that Help The Children sets a standard by which other organizations should be measured.
