I first started working with this charity in 1992 and have continued my affiliation as a physician volunteer and a member of the Board of Directors. The dedication of the organization to the well being of some of the most vulnerable people on this hemisphere has kept me involved.
I was born in Haiti and spent time in Jeremie as a child. My family fled Duvalier's reign of terror and settled in the US, and I eventually became a physician. I can attest as a Haitian and as a doctor that this organization is the best run, with the best dollar to outcome ratio, of any NGO I have seen in Haiti. My wife who is not of Haitian origin has become one of the group's most ardent supporters after personally seeing the scope of the work done and some of the lives improved or saved.
The Haitian Health Foundation is extraordinary. It does what it says it will, and I know that because I serve on the Board, and more importantly have been going to the place where it works-Jeremie, Haiti-, as a volunteer physician for 27 years.
The Administration under President Dr Jeremiah Lowney, CEO Marilyn Lowney, and In-Country Administrator Nadesha Mijoba are peerless in their dedication and effective hard work.
The hurricane Matthew has devastated this precise area of Haiti. The peoples' losses are very great. HHF has been there for the residents of town and mountain for 30 years. They are trusted and depended upon, and indeed are leading recovery efforts right now.
Whatever we can donate will , assuredly, be properly and efficaciously used.
