As a longtime reader of Grist, I feel that my donations to them are really just money that I owe them for all of their amazing journalism and advocacy, and for the energy that they inject into the green movement. I have made donations in response to their appeals, but also in response to reading an awesome article. Sometimes I make a gift to get whatever cool giveaway they have, but most of the time it is simply because I am thankful for all that they do and I want to ensure that they stay around.

Grist is my go-to website for breaking and in-depth reporting on all matters environmental. They are especially useful in providing a deeper and more contextual look that is not partisan or knee-jerk, but thoughtful and smart (with a very healthy dose of hilarious). Grist is my one-stop shop for all news environmental--and even environmental takes on seemingly "unrelated" news. And Ask Umbra is my mentor, whether she knows it or not :)

I receive news from Grist every day and consider it to be an indispensible resource for me professionally. It covers topics more than mainstream press and in fact has become a go to source, breaking stories later covered by the Post, Times, etc. And, it is wickedly amusing. I absolutely love the Grist.

I have been reading Grist for seveeral years, and donating as well to ensure they stay 'up and running'. I usually enjoy the articles, and always have the opportunity to learn a lot from the articles, as they are usually well annotated thru links to other articles/sources.
I recommend Grist highly.

Grist is great! Back before they are where they are now just info e-mail place I was glad for the doom and gloom with a smile info I got every now and then when they had enough money to power up the computer for a few hours and share.
From those years to now Grist has not forgotten who ther are and who they share to.

Grist is a fantastic source of news that matters, and an exceedingly well-run operation. They are creative, non-risk-adverse, and clever in their delivery of content. They challenge my assumptions in a consistently thoughtful manner. I rely on Grist to stay informed about issues I care about.

Grist is a wonderful resource for all things environmental. It brings serious news with a entertaining twist. I love how clever those people at Grist can be and their daily emails bring a much needed amusing perspective amidst the often troubling news.

Grist has become my daily required reading. Not the "read chapters 2-5 and be prepared to discuss in class" kind of reading, but the "if you don't read this your going to get left out of the cool kids conversation" kind of reading. Really. This is the stuff the cool kids talk about.

Grist is THE location to find articles and opinions covering the entire spectrum of topics related to our environment. It effectively bridges the void between the wonkish academic research/opinion and inadequate coverage of environmental issues in the mainstream media.

Grist is an invaluable source of knowledge and information, community, inspiration, and (importantly) levity in an incredibly challenging and confusing time. I depend on reading their newsletter every day, and always rely on their analyses of events and issues. Thanks, Grist, for being you!

An essential service in these days of hyper-information and overload. Grist gives us true voices articulating an authenitic point-of-view: the strong desire to see the human race survive our own greed & stupidity.

I use the information from GRIST more than any other news clipping service, because it is on the cutting edge and has great writers. I always read David Roberts and Tom Philpott. Because of GRIST gleaning the best of environmental reporting, I have more time to focus on other things, such as working against those things GRIST reports on.

I do not think I exaggerate when I say that GRIST probably helps me maintain my sanity by delivering this news with a good dose of witticism, humor and just the right touch of anger and indignation. I love GRIST.

A friend provided me with my first introduction to Grist - we were reviewing oil tanker compliance plans in the State of Alaska. It was great to know that such a wonderful resource existed for those of us concerned about environmental responsibility. I have been a supporter of the organization ever since.

I am a huge Grist fan. It is the place I turn to to read the environmental news. Whether it's news about climate change, endangered species, pesticides, mountain top removal, BPA, population growth, the views on the environment of politicians, the safety (or lack thereof) of diet soda, or beef, etc. I know about it only because of Grist. In fact, I even made a cartoon about it for my blog, which pretty much says what I think:

I look forward to reading Grist for its edgy, informative, and provocative approach to the news and to climate issues in particular. In an age of dour alarmist fear mongering, I appreciate the humor most of all!
