I am a Grist member and I always look forward to light spin that Grist puts on otherwise dire news. The writing staff is very good and the site layout and design is very catchy. I went to one of Grist's meet n' greet events last week and it was a blast. I hope there are more of those! Thanks Grist!

I look forward to 11:30 everyday because getting my Grist newsletter always makes my day better. I'm a HUGE fan of Tom Philpott, David Roberts, and Sara Goodyear - they provide the most insightful and useful blogs and twitter posts - THANK YOU!

Oh, and I won a frying pan from them too:)

During the night a group of gremlin like computers start filling up my In-box with emails trying to sell me stuff (almost none of which is Eco-friendly), giving me the political news of the day before, or passing along information I either asked for or really did not want to receive. I can and do pass on reading most of the morning mail, but Grist is one of the few I actually click on. With my cup of coffee in hand, I get to see the positive impact that hard-working "greenies" are having on our world. Grist is that one constant source of environmental news we all need to see what is going on, what is important, as well as ways we can all become better stewards of our world. Grist is also the place I usually go first to search for information I seek to help me accomplish tasks around my house, my garden, my kitchen that will do no harm. Grist gives me the feeling and shows me that I am not alone in my beliefs and that makes me feel good. There is no better feeling.

Once upon a time, I was a lost activist, seeking some guidance and understanding of the world around me. Then Grist entered my life, and I was finally enlightened. Day after day, through their free Daily Grist e-mail, I keep up with the most recent developments in environmental justice, politics, economics, bike culture, and so much more. Grist has given a strong and powerful voice to many scattered environmental activists that previously felt they were alone. Their dedication to give the human story with a touch of humor makes their contribution to my daily life something I'm not willing to do without.

I love the newsletter's breezy tone and funny titles, but seriously, where else can one get current updates on environmental issues in such a timely and informative way? I have shared many stories with friends and family and on Facebook, like the latest story explaining why extreme snowstorms ARE really caused by increasing global temperatures(Thanks, climate change: Here comes Snowzilla). Some stories do come off as "sour grapes" whining about environmental policies not moving fast enough, but somebody has to stake out the far end of the political spectrum once in a while.

I read Grist regularly to learn about the environmental bent of mainstream news stories (i.e. environmental records of supreme court nominees). I also go to Grist to see what new things they've uncovered, what am I missing, and how doe that fit into my life (the details of Monsanto's sugar beet sales). Overall they do a great job reporting the details of the environmental news while connecting it the rest of the world.

I signed up for Grist for a class in college and intended to unsubscribe after the class had ended. But Grist turned out to be so informative and funny that I couldn't let it go. It's a great source for any and all green news and I have learned a lot from it. Their coverage on the food safety bill was particularly interesting.

I've been an avid reader of Grist Magazine for years, enjoying its pithy wit while sharing issues of great environmental urgency. They offer information, education, and a forum for important issues, and they do it with style! I highly recommend this non-profit for the service it provides to the general public. I've supported their work with my dollars, and now at this opportunity, with my words. They richly deserve both praise and financial support for their continuing service.
