This nonprofit group remains firmly focused on its mission through sharp oversight, professional management, and continuous program improvements. Thanks to smart management and its fundraising strengths, GALT can take in dogs needing even the most expensive medical and surgical treatment or extensive foster home rehab. Potential adopters are thoroughly yet realistically screened (an issue with some adoption groups), and adopters receive post-adoption support with the dog's best interests at heart. My experience with GALT comes as a satisfied three-time adopter and volunteer.
GALT runs a tight ship. These dogs get the best of care, no matter where they come from. The organization is run professionally and with great heart, and it's a pleasure to volunteer with them.
GALT is wonderful! We have adopted 5 greys in 10 years. They truly stand by their motto, no greys turned away. This is such a loving and passionate group of people who share their love of greyhounds ! I am proud to be apart of GALT!
I started volunteering for GALT in 2016. This well-organized adoption group provides excellent medical care for the hounds. They work hard to make sure that the dog will fit in well at its forever adopted home; dogs that will live with cats go to kitty boot camp to live with cats before adoption and dogs that will be only dogs try living alone before they are adopted.
As a volunteer, who didn't have greyhound experience prior to volunteering, the GALT community was incredibly helpful when I had questions.
we have been volunteers and GALT adopters for year, well over a decade. We are continuously grateful for GALT's dedication to caring for all the greyhounds in its custody. No expense is spared in medical care. At one point two different fosters were on two different special foods. Now one if taking extra meds. A relatively recent addition is Foster checkpoints where all fosters are bathed, have nail trims, teeth and ears and weight checked. All dogs are closely monitored and cared for and volunteers are appreciated.
How I adore an organization where every bit of the funds goes to the purpose for which it is intended, to help dogs and not to some highly paid executive. we have volunteered with GALT for years and years now. It is a rewarding venture made all the more so as we share our experience with so many other caring volunteers. This is the most worthy of support animal adoption group. There are not enough superlatives.
GALT is the finest greyhound adoption group I've ever been involved with. They take in any hound in need and treat each and every one of them with the highest level of care and caring. I can't say enough about how professionally this group is run. The leadership is superb and the volunteers are all wonderful.
I love everything GALT does to help the hounds find forever homes and the positive experience I have had as a volunteer. We all pull together to get the job done professionally.
I have the privilege of having two GALT Greyhounds and they are the my loves. I am also an adoption coordinator and foster for GALT. Such a wonderful organization that does such great things for the greyhounds, from strays, to hounds off the track, to puppies that have been dumped, to taking greyhounds (and greyhound mixes) from hoarding situations. All the volunteers work together to get the hounds ready for their forever homes.
GALT is an amazing rescue organization that has a fantastic group of volunteers. Each and every volunteer does a wonderful job of preparing the hounds for adoption and then following up with new adopters to help make the transition better and a more pleasurable experience for both the hound and the human.
As a GALT volunteer I so enjoy working with the other volunteers and helping with the hounds. it is a first class rescue organization and i am proud to say I am a part of it!
I have the privilege of living with three GALT greyhounds in my home. I cannot thank this fine organization enough for trusting me with them and for supporting me in my efforts to give them the best life possible. GALT volunteers are very professional and truly love their charges. They are very helpful and dedicated to the hounds. I am proud to be a GALT member and give my support to GALT.
I am proud to be a GALT member for many years now. GALT volunteers are the very best and always rise to the occasion to help hounds in need. I like knowing that my donations are used to help the dogs exactly as expected. Thanks, GALT, for 15 years of dedication to "no grey turned away!"
GALT is still as amazing as when I first encountered it. The care they show their dogs, adopters, and volunteers is unprecedented.
I can't say enough about how amazing GALT is. The support you get through adoption and as a volunteer is amazing. I'm proud to be a part of this organization.
I am so proud to be part of such a wonderful organization. I have fostered puppies (and other dogs) for GALT. First of all, taking in litters of puppies is an effort in itself, but moreover, these poor darlings would be dead or homeless if GALT didn't step in. Below is a photo of a puppy that GALT saved from terrible conditions. Thank you GALT for all you do!
I encountered GALT from a friend's referral when we moved to the DFW area. I didn't look them up at first, but my friend kept nagging me and saying...this is the best greyhound rescue in the country. After awhile, I connected with GALT, and began fostering and volunteering occasionally, but the entire organization is so friendly and well-run that I'm now fundraising for them too. The best part about GALT is that they are an all-volunteer organization, so every single dime goes to the care and placement of the rescued dogs.
The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas lives its mission everyday. The greyhounds are taken care of from intake to adoption by this team of dedicated volunteers.
The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is an outstanding all volunteer organization whose mission remains true and strong since its inception. Incredible people helping these retired athletics find their forever homes. Absolutely the best adoption group ever!!!
GALT takes care of the dogs in exemplary fashion, and all the volunteers work hard to ensure happy adopted outcomes. I'm proud to foster for them, helping as many greyhounds as I can. I know my fosters always get the best medical care possible. The adoption coordinators vet applicants and make sure that the right dog is matched up to the adopter.
Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT), is a wonderful organization to work with and to donate to. It is run solely by volunteers, and depends on donations to continue it's good work. GALT has placed over 1500 greyhounds in homes in the past ten years. They never turn away a greyhound and often take in the ones that need considerable medical attention.
Although volunteer driven, they strive for professional results. GALT is welcoming to new volunteers, and has had a big impact in raising awareness about the plight of retired racing greyhounds in the community.
GALT really goes the extra mile for the dogs and has a wonderful team of volunteers working tirelessly together.
I have been a volunteer with GALT for about 6 months now. I love that a dog is not available until they are completely healthy and ready for their forever home! What an amazing group that always has the best interest of the hounds as top priority.
GALT is a well organized group with dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly for the greyhounds. We have tremendous foster family support to ensure the greyhounds are loved and we'll cared for while waiting for their forever homes.
I have been a GALT volunteer for over 6 years - as a foster family helping greyhounds prepare for their forever homes and as part of a fabulous team that cares lovingly for the greys in boarding. Over the year we have also become the proud parents of 3 amazing GALT greyhounds. It is wonderful to watch these sweet creatures blossom and see the wonder in their eyes as they experience home life for the first time. To see them gain confidence and in some cases, help them to learn to trust us 2-leggers. We have nurtured fosters that were extremely shy and fearful of people; cared for fosters with broken legs; kept some calm and quiet while going through heartworm treatments; and above all, treated them as part of the pack. GALT is an amazing organization and makes sure every single greyhound is placed in the right home.
I became a first-time greyhound owner and volunteer at nearly the same time because I could immediately tell that GALT is a well-oiled machine. Their motto, "no grey turned away," is impressive and since my adopted boy was a stray found with paint-ball marks on his body, I'll be forever grateful they took him in and prepared him for his forever home.
I've never volunteered with an organization that doesn't have to pull teeth to get its volunteers to step up! Everybody is always willing and goes the extra mile--anything for the Greys!
Found this group when we adopted our dog. Although he is not a Greyhound, they thought he was and didn't turn him away when it turned out he wasn't! Now we foster greyhounds for them and couldn't have asked for a greater organization to adopt from or be a part of.
There are not enough words to describe the amazing work that GALT does on a daily basis. The young, the old, the injured and the strays, NOT ONE of them is ever TURNED AWAY!! And they stand behind their statement 110%! I am on my 4th Greyhound, all of them have been from GALT. I am part time volunteer and help out when I can, but the devotion that the members put in every single day is like nothing I've seen before. I have made lifelong friends thru GALT and they will always be apart of my life.
I have been a GALT volunteer for almost 8 years. I know for a fact that their motto of "NO GREY TURNED AWAY" is 110% true! They go above and beyond any organization that I know of to help the hounds in need. I have devoted countless hours volunteering, working events, fostering, transporting the Grey babies to and fro and anything else that was asked of me. From the board members to the countless volunteers, I can truly say that they are an amazing group to work with and I am so very fortunate to be able to say that they are also my friends! I no longer live in the Dallas area but still like to help out when I can. I want to wish GALT a Happy 12th Birthday and many many more successful years to come!
I have been volunteering for GALT for years now and you will not find a more dedicated and passionate group of people. All three of my dogs are from GALT!
Another year, another dog adopted from GALT!
They continue to go to great lengths to take in greyhounds no one else will.. broken legs, dogs abandoned at shelters, strays, Saluki mixes, and get them into great homes. Can't say enough about them!
The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is a well oiled machine of hard working volunteers that get the job done. I have volunteered with this group of dedicated people since 2005 and have seen what working together can get done!
