Lakwold Garden is one of my favorite spots to wander. I can forget my worries and concerns and just let my senses revel in the spaces. I'm able to learn plant care tips from the friendly staff and get ideas for my own tiny garden. After a quick short visit I am rejuvinated. After a lengthy relaxing visit I am calmed and my mind is quieted. Love Lalkwold.

Lakewold Gardens is a serene beautiful place in the middle of a busy town and a very busy life. It is a community treasure. It is a piece of community history because it shows a time when Lakewood had many such estates. Now the old estates are broken up and many houses are crammed onto the old lots. It is a piece of horticultural history also. It was built with painstaking care by a famous garden architect an the private owners over many years. It is right that now a non-profit organization honors the original owners gift to the community by keeping it alive with beauty all year long. I love this house and garden. Where else in this country could I buy a membership to an old estate for such a reasonable yearly fee and pretend that I am an heiress reading the Sunday paper paper in her sun porch? I am a preschool teacher. I take care of 17 children everyday of the week. I love visiting Lakewold on the weekends because It give me a feeling of peace. It is local and easy to get to so I gives me time to dream close to home. It also gives me inspiration for my own garden. The lady who runs the garden shop is really friendly and knowledgeable. The garden shop carries unique things that I cannot find anywhere else. It would be great if Lakewold won the $5,000 award to keep this wonderful place up and running and inspiring future generations.

It is a lovely, peaceful oasis that should be visited by more people. Well cared for by both the operations and management teams. I wish I was able to visit more often.

Lakewold Gardens is truly an amazing place. It includes a large and well preserved home that can be used for speical events and beautiful lawn and gardens overlooking the lake. It is especially enjoyable in the spring when the many rodies and other flowering plants are in full bloom. A visit to Lakewold is well worth your time and an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

Lakewold is a community treasure. Nestled among towering Pacific Northwest firs and among meticulously maintained gardens, my family has visted numerous times over the years. Besides many guided tours of the gardens, we've attended weddings, Community Foundation grant receptions and our business has conducted a fun, creative and unique event pairing Northwest wines and cheeses with an estate planning event on the subject of philanthropy. What better setting and storied history for such conversations?

Lakewold Gardens is an awesome place to enjoy beautiful gardens; as well as, hold a private event. The gardens beautify a wedding, corporate retreat, or family reunion. The layout provides for covered events up to 150 guests; and the grounds could hold up to about 750. I have catered several events at Lakewold Gardens and the staff is always very knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. The kitchen area is fully equiped to do simple; as well as, gourmet food. The load in is very easy. I would consider Lakewold Gardens whenever one is planning an event in the greater Tacoma area....Two thumbs up...

Lakewold Gardens preserves historical estate gardening and also offers beautiful garden walks for locals and guests. It provides both an historical perspective on gardening and estate life in the area, as well as an opportunity to experience the seasonal beauty of local flowers, trees, and birds....so many birds! In addition, it is an information resource for local gardeners. I used to visit only occasionally, but now that I live nearby, I visit two or three times each week. I often bring friends to enjoy a walk and occasionally a sack lunch in view of the lake. It's an important and unique offering to the community.
