Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: During the 1980s, the Los Angeles County shelters were mandated to sell to medical research facilities. Numerous well-known organizations as well as small groups worked to buy out of the county shelters animals that were slated for experimentation. Friends For Pets Foundation was formed at this time for the purpose of not only saving the lives destined for laboratory tables but to make a difference in the way our society viewed these abandoned pets.

Programs: Our organization is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of abandoned dogs. To date we have provided services for over 3300 dogs and enriched many families in the process.

Diane and her volunteers at Friends for Pets are simply amazing. They are dedicated to rescue, rehabilition and placement of those dogs lucky to come into contact with FFP. We have adopted 3 Weims over the years. FFP doesn't just treat them medically but they also LOVE these dogs, and give them confidence and mental stimulation. A dog rescued by FFP has it's quality of life improved 100% from their attention and loving care. What a family adopting a FFP dog gets is a happy, well-loved and cared for loving companion. Support FFP in every way you can - I make dog quilts and blankets from donated material. What can you do? They need financial support, food, and medical care. I love this group...you wlll too.

We've gotten three dogs from Friends For Pets over the years and couldn't be happier with them. They honestly care about the pups and it's apparent they always think about the dogs well-being before anything else.

Friends For Pets is the most amazing rescue organization. They rescue every dog they possibly can, including those in terrible conditions - including from Mexico. No matter the dogs' problems, they work to fix them and show them the love they've been missing from most (or all) of their lives. They find fantastic homes for each of their rescues, and when, rarely, they're unable to find forever homes, the dogs are kept and loved forever. Friends For Pets is run by an amazing woman, Diane Monahan, whose heart and strength and understanding (she *knows* dogs!) makes this organization work the way it does.

friends for pets is a wonderful organization with caring and dedicated volunteers. They rescue Weimaraners and other needy dogs , from shelters , and also help with dogs whose owners are no longer able to care for them. They drive miles, provide medical care, shelter and safety.
Diane Monahan has devoted her life to these dogs. After the dogs are in rescue, FFP works hard to find permanent loving homes. They work hard to educate about the responsibilities of pet ownership. These are wonderful dedicated people who love these dogs, and want what's best for each and every dog.
They love each dog that comes to them and work hard to assure them a safe and much loved life.
