I had the opportunity to visit with Mark Lombard as he shared this Digital art book with residents of a nursing home. Each senior was touched deeply and appeared to "come alive" as they were introduced to the Masters. An Art book should be in every nursing home, VA hospital, Hospice and school in the world! And Mark should be cloned!
For Love and Art came from the imagination of Mark Lombard. He wanted to bring the art work of the Great Masters to those who are homebound. A dream of my mother's was to travel to Museums once my father retired. Unfortunately he had a stroke that affected his mind. He spent time in a nursing home. Having a digital art book, my mother and he were able to "travel" without leaving the home. Once he passed the book was donated to the Nursing Home in my parents' memory so others could enjoy it. If you have, or have had a loved one confined to home, a nursing home, a VA, group home or even hospice, consider donating a book in their honor or memory. Consider giving one to a school so children can see the work of the Masters in a medium so much more vibrant than in a regular book. This organization is caring and well run. I would recommend it to everyone.
I would really like to Thank Mr.Mark Lombard and his Very Special Guest that he brings to the facility with him. My Residents get really excited to hear that he's coming. I've seen Residents in living room that usually will not participate in any activity, Mr. Mark really brings the Museum alive for them and they Love it. They leave talking about when is he coming back. Thank you Mark. Dottie Caldwell/Activity Director
The "For Love and Art" digital museum guide has been a much appreciated, easy to use tool for our Grace Hospice patient companions. Our patients can now escape into the vibrant gardens by Claude Monet and admire Edgar Degas ballerinas without ever leaving their bedside. This guide draws patient and caregivers attention away from their reality and instead allows them to focus on exploring various museums instead.
For Love and Art has gifted many of the member hospices of the Texas Non Profit Hospice Alliance with these incredible art books. The passion, detail and professionalism and incredible generosity that FL&A brings to this project has allowed our non-profit hospices all across Texas to bring the transformational experience of art to the bedsides of those who can no longer visit a museum. This is an organization that has touched the lives and spirits of those at the end of life and made a true difference. Thank you For Love and Art!
We wanted to take the chance to thank you again for all your generosity and assistance with getting the ArtBook to Isabella Geriatric Center here in New York. On Friday, November 12th, my colleague Julia and I went to Isabella to present the ArtBook to the staff. We met with a variety of individuals who are going to spearhead the usage of the ArtBook. Particularly, we met with the recreational therapists from both rehabilitation and end of life care units at Isabella. Additionally, the Marketing Coordinators and other administrators were thrilled to see the partnership forming between For Love & Art, New York Cares and Isabella.
The staff brought a few residents down to the meeting room to see how the ArtBook operated. The response was extremely positive. In fact, one woman let us know she had not been to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in over 40 years and was thrilled to have the pieces brought to her through For Love & Art. The staff was excited to use the book on a variety of units and knows it will make a meaningful impact on the residents. So thank you on behalf of both Isabella and New York Cares.
I am the CEO of a Continuing Care Retirement Community. A family member of a resident that we recently served in our health care center wanted to honor her memory with a gift from For Love and Art. We are so thrilled to have this virtual museum to share with our residents, especially those who either can't or won't come out of their rooms to participate in activities. We have so many great things for our residents to do but we often struggle to find just the right tool for one on one visits with residents in their rooms. The virtual museum is such a wonderful way to share beautiful art with folks who have lived wonderful lives but now suffer - some in mind; some in body; but never in spirit. We are really looking forward to lifting their spirits with the beauty we now have in our hands. We are so greatful to the family of our resident for honoring her and sharing this wonderful gift with us. God Bless.
I am honored to be featured in one of your videos to help spread the word of a beautiful cause. My mother was the client served. Such a beautiful memory I have of the day you visited us when my mom was still alive! The digital photo books showed masterpiece paintings from famous museums all over and it seemed to have brought joy to my mom's heart and wake up her soul again - She enjoyed so much looking at the art and traveling to museums through the digital ArtBooks and she also enjoyed talking about the art work she painted throughout her years. I will always remember and cherish this day. I hope your organization continues to grow to bring joy to many others who are not physically able to get out. Much love to you Mr. Mark Lombard You are a beautiful soul!
The Digital Art Book was donated to the Mark Taper and Johnny Mercer Artists Program at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. It has been used by our Artists in Residence in the weekly art workshops we hold in the hospital for patients. We are very grateful for this donation and we are proud to showcase the amazing pieces of art collected in this book and increase arts appreciation and education in every patient and family member who see it.
