Huge supporter of Direct Relief! They recently went to Haiti to check on the shipment of medical supplies that they sent after hurricane matthew and nearly everything had made it to the end medical partners within ~3 weeks!

I am a wholehearted supporter of Direct Relief, an organization that provides emergency relief and supplies to those in immediate need worldwide. When I make a charitable donation to Direct Relief, I know that my gift will be well spent providing care and supplies to those impacted by disaster and most in need. As an example, soon after Hurricane Katrina, the tsunami in Indonesia and devastating earthquake in Haiti, I received emails from Thomas Tighe, CEO, describing what happened, who's affected and what Direct Relief is doing to help. Direct Relief's assistance is a Godsend. I know from experience: when my family lost our home in the 2008 Santa Barbara Tea Fire, we learned just how important it is to have immediate help available. have been associated with and donated to this organization for more than 10 years. As a volunteer and a donor, I am so glad to support a non-profit that is so transparent... you can go on their website and see exactly what is shipped where.

When I moved to Santa Barbara in 1966, my mother said, "Oh, that's where Direct Relief is!" As a doctor's wife, she had helped collect medicine samples for DRI from doctors' offices in our town in Kentucky.

DRI has come a long way since then, but still is one of the most effective, and cost effective, donations around. Who else multiplies your donation by 25 or 30 times? And they make sure the supplies they send actually are what's needed, and get to the people who need and can use them.

I first started donating to DRI after the tsunami in Indonesia, because I liked their privacy policy and I liked that they were very clear in how the money would be used (and what they would do if they received too many donations. ) I've given additional funds since then for various disaster relief (Hurricane Katrina, the earthquakes in Pakistan and Haiti, etc.), as well as for my annual CFC Campaign donation. I like helping Direct Relief International as I respect how well they run their organizationi and how much they respect and value their donors.

I doubled my donations after I got a raise at work. A month later someone contacted me because they noticed I had two auto-donations per month set up - they wanted to make sure they weren't over billing me. That's a first.

Great group - awesome place to donate in my opinion. 100% of your money goes to helping. Their operations are completely supported by an anonymous trust (or something like that)
