Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Civil Rights, Disabilities, Disabled Persons Rights, Seniors, Seniors Rights, Voter Education & Registration, Voting Rights

Mission: CTD works to ensure that persons with disabilities may work, live, learn, play and participate fully in the community of their choice. We focus on governmental advocacy, public awareness activities, and professional disability consulting to achieve our mission.

Results: We have built a solid reputation as advocates and policy experts at the Capitol, in the business community, and in the media that we work daily to strengthen. Over the last decade, we have influenced efforts that have added close to $3 Billion in state budget appropriations supporting people with disabilities.

Target demographics: all Texans with disabilities and the families and professionals who support them.

Geographic areas served: downtown Austin, TX

Programs: arts programming, consulting for businesses, organizing and legislative advocacy.

My experience with CTD and staff has always been extremely positive. I find all staff to be hard working dedicated servants to the public. The political work they do is very difficult with many barriers to overcome. Support and gratitude for what they do should be given by our community. It takes a community working together to get necessary changes.
