Mission: The Children's Scholarship Fund aims to maximize educational opportunity for all children: for those in need by offering tuition assistance in grades K-8 for alternatives to faltering conventional schools, and for all children by supporting and cultivating education reform and parental choice efforts.
Results: Since our inception in 1998, CSF has provided scholarships worth $741 million, changing the lives of more than 166,000 low-income children.
Target demographics: Low-income families with children in grades K-8.
Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2016-17, CSF and CSF partner programs served almost 24,000 children who used scholarships to attend the private schools their families chose for them.
Geographic areas served: 26 cities and states
Programs: We provide partial tuition assistance for low-income families to send their children to private schools in grades K-8. We focus on the earlier grades to ensure a solid educational foundation. Since our inception, 166,000 children have benefited from our scholarships across the United States as part of our mission to expand choice in education. Currently more than 25,700 children are using CSF scholarships (2017-18 school year). These children are attending the school of their families' choice through the generosity of our donors, the efforts of our partner programs across the country and the sacrifices made by the families themselves, who pay - on average - 50% of their children's tuition.
