Mission: Our mission is to create a global volunteer movement of "kids helping kids" through the medium of art. Our objective is to teach children some basic art skills, provide them with mentorship, and empower them by showing them how to profit from their artwork in order give back to their community. At Charitable Arts we believe that through the creative use of art, we can make a difference by showing children how to help themselves.
Results: We have built a High School in La Manga, Mexico (a small impoverished fishing village) where the children didn't have access to a secondary school. It is open and had 8 children complete the school year in 2011/2012. We have raised over $50,000 and distributed it to small non-profit organization and community centers that provide educational support to underprivileged children. We painted a mural in Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. We are currently raising funds for a Charitable Arts school for abandoned children in Cusco, Peru.
Target demographics: Underprivileged children ages 1-17 in Lake Worth, Pohokee, and Miami, FL; Cusco, Peru; Mexico City and La Manga, Mexico.
Programs: We provide art classes to organizations that help underprivileged children through high school volunteers. The program is also acts as a mentorship and empowerment program for these children.
