The Center for the Arts of Homer definitely raises the bar for central New York. Being able to see Arlo Guthrie twice in Homer, NY is fantastic, but the quaint and cozy venue makes it even better. The Center offers a myriad of entertainment, Friday night movies, art shows and yoga classes. We're so lucky to have this in our community.
Before sitting down to write, I pulled out all the old program books. Among those artists that standout are Richie Havens, Don Vappie, U. Utah Phillips, Cheryl Wheeler, Ola Onabule, Guy Clark, Arlo Guthrie, Karla Bonoff, The Four Bitchin' Babes, Frank Vignola and Bucky Pizzarelli and Elieen Ivers. The music program alone has enriched the lives of people throughout Central NY and beyond, justifying all the hard work and support. But, the Center is so much more. The programs for children, SAT prep, movies, the radio plays. I can't imagine live in Homer today without the Center.
The Center for the arts has be such a wonderful addition to the Village of Homer. It has a wide range of shows and attractions that it appeals to all age groups and tastes. Local musicians have also recognized such as; The Cafferty band, Dave Feinstein, Ten Man Push and others. Gallery showings of local and well known artists have also attracted many to the Center. There is always something happening at the Center for the Arts.
Intimate, nice place to see a performance. I appreciate the wide range of performers. Any seat in the place is good. The social hour prior to the show is nice. Earlier in the sound was not as good as it should be, given the great acoustics of the venue. But it's been good to fantastic recently.
We love it!! My family uses the Center for the Arts on a weekly basis by attending dance lessons. We also enjoy the concerts, theatrical performances, art shows, and charity events. We are very happy to have these cultural experiences available to us without having to drive somewhere; we have something wonderful in our our hometown!
I've lived in Homer for 3 years and in that time have become a huge fan and supporter of the Center for the Arts of Homer! Every concert that we've attended has been so impressive, acts from many countries. I've seen incredible, energetic acts like Eileen Ivers and Teada. I've had friends come from out of town for concerts at the center. Dan Hayes has great vision for the center - it's amazing to me what he's done for the center in such a short period of time. I think this venue could be A PREMIER 300-400 seat venue in NYS outside of NYC! Everyone who performs speaks to how much they love performing at the center and how much the appreciate the opportunity to perform there. I would never have thought that a town as small as Homer could provide concerts with such depth and diversity of talent. And at prices that make attendance affordable for everyone! Dan and the volunteers provide a wonderful welcoming atmosphere at the center for all events, including the free movies. What a joy to have a place like this in our community!
Dessert, art & music, in a charming, intimate performance space, plus student discounts on tickets! Center for the Arts of Homer is a gem in our region.
I am always amazed at Dan Hayes' (C4Art director) ability to bring nationally prominent artists to the little town of Homer. There have been truly unforgettable performances. The space is very intimate and this has a uniquely synergistic effect. The audience is energized by the direct connection to the performer and, reciprocally, the performers become energized by the personal response from the audience. Many performers "love this space" and many have said the acoustics are perfect. Other offerings I have made use of are art exhibits and classes (ex Tai Chi).
An absolutely wonderful addition to our community. Provides excellent opportunities of a variety of types, from local artists, to new and well run plays, to international and national artists. Bravo, the Center For the Arts provides an amazing venue for our community and the greater up state New York audience. The director Daniel Hayes, and the Board are very open to entertaining new ideas and new programs. We have been pleased to participate, attend and donate. Again an incredible addition to our community.
The Center for The Arts of Homer is such a boon to our small community. To be able to attend first class, wonderful conderts practically just stepping out your door has been a wonderful thing for music, art, and dance lovers in Cortland county and surrounds. Without it, one would have to drive at least 45 minutes or more to partake in entertainment of this level. During the winter, one is hesitant to make plans to attend events in Syracuse or Ithaca, not knowing what the weather might be. How nice that we don't have to succumb to cabin fever and the winter doldrums! Thank you, Center For the Arts of Homer!
What a jewel we have in the Center for the Art of Homer! From the amazing talent that performs every year to the educational opportunities offered to the artistic variety in the gallery, and so much more! We are truly lucky to have such a wonderful center and I very happy to be a member and attend many events each year.
My husband and I attended our first concert at the center in Dec 2005. We were so impressed that we've attended almost every concert since. The staff and volunteers are wonderful. The art gallery has very nice exhibits. This center has become one of the most beneficial places for this small community. Not only is it an art center, but an education center as well The Center for the Arts of Homer is the best thing to happen in this area. We get top performers in a smaller, more personal venue. Great value for our dollars, especially in economic times like we've been experiencing.
The Center for the Arts of Homer is a wonderful organization with a fantastic venue for performing arts. The converted church is small enough to be intimate and has wonderful acoustics. Every seat is the best seat in the house. It's a fantastic place to see and hear a concert. The staff is helpful, friendly and professional. I enjoy visiting C4A for the art shows they host, also. I give it 5 stars because you don't have 6.
Tiny communities in rural areas rarely have an opportunity to partake of varied cultural activities close to home. The Center for the Arts has made this possible. The various types of entertainment they have appeal to all ages as well as people with different musical tastes. We are SO lucky to have the center!
An absolutely outstanding venue that the performers obviously love coming to. A great mix of shows of all kinds. I actually travel a lot less to NYC and other places to see shows because of the great quality of shows at the Center for the arts. Nothing compares to it for over a hundred miles around!
