Mission: Rooted in compassion and human dignity for all, Catholic Charities of the East Bay works with youth, children and families to promote self-sufficiency, strengthen families and pursue safety and justice.
Results: During 2013, we served and touched more than 20 thousand lives through information and referral but also direct services. Our clients are able to avert homelessness, find jobs and/or training opportunities, become naturalized citizens, and develop skills to combat violence and become involved in reforming how schools deal with conflict and violence through restorative justice practices
Target demographics: Children and youth under the age of 24, child rearing families, and refugees/immigrants
Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 20,000 clients are served
Geographic areas served: Alameda and Contra Costa County in the East Bay
Programs: We provide services in four distinct areas: Safety Net and Asset Development; Legal Immigration Services; Mental Health and Violence Prevention; and Education and Workforce Development
I am a co-leader of a ministry focused on helping those in-transition find work. Our ministry had served over 1100 since we began in 2001. We often have members in dire financial straits who need support and assistance. I have referred members to both St. Vincent de Paul (at our parish) for immediate help and to Catholic Charities of the East Bay for longer term help. CCEB has been very responsive to these people and has provided guidance and support. I have been donor for many years and have become one of this non-profits greatest cheerleaders.
