Nonprofit Overview

Causes: International

Mission: Our mission is to build a global network of supporters dedicated to fighting poverty in the Philippines. We are committed to helping the poor by providing for their basic needs (i.e. food, clothing, medicine) and by creating a brighter future for their youth through improved education.

Results: This year we gave scholarships to two elementary school children at St. Hannibal School in Parañaque, Metro Manila for the 2015-2016 school year. In 2013 & 2014 we raised funds for Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts. Typhoon Haiyan (local name Typhoon Yolanda) hit the Philippines on Nov. 8, 2013 and caused major damage on the islands of Leyte, Samar and Cebu. Donations collected were used to buy tents, food, water and medicine for relief efforts coordinated by the San Carlos Seminary in Cebu and the St. Peter's College Class of '63. Relief goods were distributed to over 3,000 families in Leyte.

Programs: Educational scholarships for poor youth Disaster relief for victims of natural disasters Distribution of food and clothing for the poor

Bundles of Joy is a very small non-profit run by all part time volunteers. We don't have the same impact as larger organizations who have large staffs and big budgets. Our philosophy is that each person we help is a success story. This year we are focusing on education and we have started an online fundraiser for scholarships. https://www.commitchange.com/ca/foster-city/bundles-of-joy/campaigns/scholarships-for-needy-youth

Today I received a Facebook message from Father Saldua in Cebu City, Philippines saying thank you for the donations of used clothing that Bundles of Joy shipped to the San Carlos Seminary. The cargo boxes just arrived in Cebu and the donations will be distributed to families in need. Thanks to all our generous donors in the San Francisco area who made this possible.

I'm proud to be a part of the Bundles of Joy organization because this group cares deeply about the communities it serves. As just one example, for years Bundles of Joy has been fulfilling its goal to help disadvantaged kids get a good education by supporting an elementary school in Metro Manila, Philippines through donations in cash and in-kind. It's a huge goal, and this small organization does everything it can to help make an impact. The team is dedicated and does great work.

Bundles of Joy has been busy sorting, packing and shipping donations that will be distributed at Christmas time in Metro Manila. Toys, clothes and household items from donors in California will be distributed at the Aya Multinational GK Village in Paranaque, a free housing project for the poor.

Bundles of Joy is spreading awareness about the plight of the poor in the Philippines. This non-profit fundraises and sends aid to schools, a home for the aged, squatter villages and other mission areas in the Philippines. I have worked with this year's fundraiser in partnership with St. Mark's Catholic Church in Belmont, CA. The First - Third graders in the Church's faith formation classes brought in old shoes that they had outgrown. The Fourth - Eighth graders brought in school supplies. The Youth Group donated the proceeds of their Souperbowl fundraiser to the cause. The congregation brought in donations of old clothes, shoes and school supplies. All donations collected were shipped to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Parish in Manila, Philippines and distributed to poor families in their community. The school supplies were distributed at an elementary school for poor children that is run by the parish.
