Bright Futures Farm rescues horses that are being mistreated as well as thoroughbreds that have passed their prime as racehorses and, although in good health, are about to be slaughtered since they no longer produce profits for owners. At Bright Futures Farm, the rescued horses are given a new life - food, shelter in a clean stall, love from volunteers who ride them, curry them, and treat them with respect. They are provided with veterinary care and farrier care. I can't think of a more worthy nonprofit organization than Bright Futures Farm. To see healthy, happy horses that would otherwise have suffered a miserable life or a needless death is heartwarming.

This past year my fiancee boarded and cared for 4 of Bright Future's horses. Never being a horse person before, this was a whirlwind experience for me. The horses my fiancee cared for were healthy and well-maintained and I've grown into a horse lover over the last couple months because of the time I have spent with her rescued animals. This feeling was doubled once we visited the Bright Futures barn, where I met the more high maintenance older animals Bev and her non-profit care for. For someone to devote their life to rescuing those animals otherwise destined for slaughter is an incredible thing. Although my fiancee and I are moving and had to stop boarding Bright Futures' horses, I am looking forward to driving in 2-3 hours from Cleveland on weekends to volunteer at the barn. This is an incredible place.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bev and her barn full of loving horse this past weekend. I must say it was one of the cleanest barns, with some of the most amazing rehabbed horses I have ever seen. What Bev and the other helpers at her farm do to turn these animals around is amazing. It is clear as day that her heart and soul are with these horses and she goes above any beyond what most would. Bev would go without so that her animals could have. It's the people like her and rescues like hers that make this world a better place, for humans and animals. The horses she helps are blesses, and blessed are we for her to touch our lives. They deserve the donations/any help they can get. When you pull up.. you see that all money/efforts are for the animals..not like a lot of rescues now days. She is making a difference & I hope that people will continue to help fund her so she can keep on saving lives. Horses are helpless. I've been to the auctions.. and left crying. It is awful. What Bright Future Farms does is commendable. I hope they get the funds they need!

Bright Futures does absolutely fabulous work. Bev truly puts her heart and soul into those horses and gives them the best life they possibly can have. A few people I know have horses that Bev has rescued, and she keeps up with them and asks how they're doing ALL the time. Any money donated to her goes directly to the horses. She lets you know exactly what your donation is used for also, which is nice to know especially when you're giving money. There is no one in this world I know who is more dedicated to saving the horses.

I have worked with Bright Futures on several occasions in assisting horses that have found themselves in precarious positions. They are always willing to step up and assist in whatever way they can, keeping the best interest of the horse in mind, always.

They are totally transparent, forthright, and honest, and an asset to the community they serve, as well as the animals that they help.

This non-profit organization is instrumental in the saving of many horses in need of rehoming and has rescued many wonderful that were in the kill pens of local auction houses. They have helped the equine community by providing a safe place for many horses in transition.

I love Bright Futures Farm, they are very good and nice to their horses, and save them from slaughter, and abuse. I give them credit for all they do, they save horses lives, and that's what is most important that every horse should get a second chance, and they try to make that come true!

Many will ever know what it is like to walk the aisles of a horse auction knowing that the scared, neglected and sick horses that you are seeing will soon be boarding their final ride to a slaughter house. Bright Futures Farm knows the heartbreak in looking these animals in the eye and doing what they can to save them from this horrific end! In these financial times, there are even more horses to save and less funds to save them with. However, Bright Futures Farm does what it can to rescue these lovely creatures and nurse them back to health or give them a comfortable home to spend their last days.

This organization helped find a home for a horse that had a very bad existance. The compassion and genuine concern for the animal as well as the people involved was amazing. Bright Futures had absolutely nothing to gain by assisting us, but they joined in, gave one hundrend percent effort and solved the problem. Thank you and God Bless your future efforts.

Bev goes above and beyond for the horses in her care. This is one of the few rescues that take in stallions that are too old to geld. Bev does what needs to be done to do right by the horses

I just have to say that the 2 horses that my friend adopted from Bright Futures have proved to be wonderful, loving and fully functional horses. They couldn't have found a better place to spend the rest of their lives now. They owe their success to the fantastic rehabilitation and love they received with this organization.

Bev is a wonderful person. She is very good to the horses. The horses are lucky to have someone like Bev to be there for them and take such good care of them. Luckily she also follows up on the horses that are adopted. Beta and Charm are 2 specifically lucky horses.

As a retired member of the thoroughbred racing community, Bright Futures Farm is special to me. The care and giving nature and attitude that is exhibited is wonderful. There was a daughter of a horse I worked with who was saved from the slaughter auction. Bev kept me up to date with the rescue and recovery and eventual rehoming of the mare. Excellent !

Bright Futures Farn is dedicated to saving horses that so many humans either turn their backs on or blatantly abuse them. I think this charity has a deep love for and committment to the horses. They need all the support and help they can get to save as many as they possibly can. They continue to try and educate the public on just how bad these horses have it until they are rescued. Some of them don't get the chance, but if more people would support these guys and others like them, then maybe there would be less horror stories about the fate of the magnificent horses. How anyone can hurt such a beautiful creature of God, I will never understand. I commend Bright Futures Farm on the wonderful work they have done and will continue to do with all of our help. Please consider them for this grant as the horses truly need it.

Three years ago I was looking to adopt a rescue horse. I was forwarded information about Bright Futures Farm. Bev Dee, the founder of Bright Futures, sent me to meet a OTTB located only a few miles from the farm I was riding at. I fell in love with the horse CT. Bev advised me about his many issues and previous trials with other owners and I took CT on trial for 30 days. CT was everything I wanted and I loved him. I had CT for over 8 Months and during that time we discovered he had some soundness issues that were going to be permanent. Unfortunately I don't own my own farm and my trainer does not allow horses on the farm who are not in training with her. When I contacted Bev she understood and offered to take CT as a permanent retiree at her farm. I was so relieved because I knew he would have a wonderful forever home with Bev. Not only did she take CT as a permanent resident she also found me my soul mate, Roman. Roman is the most perect horse I could ever own. Thank you Bev, for everything.

As a member of the western Pennsylvania horse community, I am deeply grateful for all the effort and hard work of Bev Dee of Bright Futures Farm to save and place horses destined for auction (AKA SLAUGHTER). She does most of the work by herself, with the help of a few volunteers, but there is so much more that could be done should she only be given the support needed to save more horses. For the first time in years, she was not able to meet her feed bills. She never asked for assistance, but I learned about her from another organization rallying support to raise funds to assist her in purchasing hay for the horses at the farm. The respect of her peers in the horse community is evident - Bev Dee that genuinely cares about the welfare of the animal and where it will be placed, and goes above and beyond despite her limited resources. Especially now given the state of the economy, too many animals are being dumped by their owners at auction where many end up in the slaughter pen, simply because it is the quickest way to get out from under the expense of caring for them. Bright Futures is a wonderful organization that deserves the opportunity to assist in saving these animals from a terrible fate.
