Our family moved to Wimberley in 2005. Arts From The Heart became our first contact to the community by offering free after school art classes. We found them on the Wimberley Community website and I signed my kids up before our move. Once here and after witnessing the classes and expressing a desire to help, I was told about several ways I could support the AFTH. I chose to volunteer at the Village Thrift Store which supported the AFTH based on volunteer service hours. This was one way to support the free classes offered. I felt this organization needed support because they were formed to fill the lack of art education the schools used to have but was forced to cut out of their budgets. I could not imagine children not being exposed to art. I continued to volunteer in other areas by helping with the after school workshops. We loved them so much I became a coordinator. I realized the organization existed on donations and fundraisers so I became a committee member of An Evening To Remember Gala and later Casino Night. For seven years I have seen many children benefit from the programs offered and community outreach. I am very pleased with the AFTH growth and hope it continues. My children are way past elementary age and in highschool (which has art) but I attend if I'm able the once a month adult art education, Corks & Creations. Wow, what fun! I've also been blessed to serve with the most dedicated, outstanding group of volunteers.
