Mission: The Arroyo Seco Foundation is a non-profit education and action organization. Our goal is to preserve and enhance the Arroyo Seco watershed from the San Gabriel Mountains to the Los Angeles River, to promote sustainable management of the watershed and to foster environmental awareness and stewardship.
Results: The Arroyo Seco Foundation has sponsored campaigns to restore and enhance the Arroyo Seco, Southern California’s most celebrated canyon. Trees flourish throughout the Arroyo and native fish again swim in the stream as a direct result of ASF. The Lower Arroyo Stream Restoration, developed in the 1990s, and the establishment of Hahamongna Watershed Park, and the restoration of the native fish, the Arroyo Chub, recently are the highlights of the effort. This has all been accomplished with a massive infusion of volunteer labor and enthusiasm.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Everyone who uses the Arroyo including its trail, the Rose Bowl, the aquatic center and its parks benefits.
