I understand that it takes money to run a website like anysoldier.com, but it seems a lot of the donations used to 'run the site and pay for servers' is going into the owner's pocket via a salary. That's disappointing. What started as a good cause has turned into a business. Two thumbs down. I think it's rotten.
This site is the best. You can send US troops cards during the holidays, tuna, beef jerky, and other food. I always send a letter since the troops like to connect with civilian Americans back home. I've been using it since 2005.
I got involved with anysoldier.com when a friend of my brother's was deployed in 2008 and posted some needs on there. after he returned home i kept sending boxes to other heroes who posted on the site. anysoldier is a GREAT way to give back to those who serve our country.
I love this organization. You can donate as much or as little as you want with no pressure. Send a letter or a box of goodies to our troops. There are no huge adminstrative fees and when you donate, you know exactly where your money is going. I've been sending boxes for 1 1/2 years now and it is very rewarding and very addicting! A donation to the actual organization goes to running the website. Very honest and straight forward. Support our troops - you won't be sory!
My husband and I began sending care packages to our grandson and his team in Iraq in 2004. Then, in 2005, we discovered Any Soldier, and began using their program to locate names and addresses of deployed troops that they listed in order to continue sending care packages. They made it so easy to read the requests of the contacts and then just click on the one(s) you wanted to help by fulfilling their requests or just writing to them. We felt like the contacts were extended family, and appreciated the posted updates so that we could stay current even if we never heard personally from them. - Gran
I obtained information regarding Anysoldier from my grand-daughters school newspaper - 5 years ago!!! My sister and I have been shipping every month since then - usually have 2 groups. I am never in the dark regqarding what to ship and not to ship, or how to ship and have only had great results with the mailing kits. A local Drug store jumped on the wagon 4 years ago and has continued to take donations for us in the small town I currently live in - York, SC. I am not sure WHO is the greatest, Walgreens Drugs or the wonderful people in the town who soooo freely give. Praises to the Horns for starting this site- a real blessing to the supporters and to the troops!!!! Even on a couple of occasions it was necessary to contact Marty, his reply was quick and answered my questions fully! I try to spread the word about this site every chance I get. Thank you Marty for all you do!!!
This is a class act. Maintained by folks who understand the military because they themselves have served, it is a site that truly serves the deployed men and women. It provides a way (user-friendly, I might add) that we can connect with our troops. We can send them letters and / or packages and are given information up front pertaining to that particular unit's needs. I have been using this site since 2004 and have sent mail to over 300 troops. I have built friendships with a number of them and have been able to support them through multiple tours. I've even gotten to meet three of them in person, which was a great joy. I work in a school and have involved my students in corresponding, as well. What a mutually beneficial endeavor!
I wanted to do something to give back to our military and found this site... very good site...I cannot believe how many of our military are not home in the states....I have adopted 3 soldiers so far since Feb.. 2011 and will continue through this site because it is easy and very informative..thank you anysoldier.com
Such a great charity. How many of you know soldiers? It sure gets lonely for many of them overseas, especially those without family or friends who write to them. Through this charity we are able to write letters and send care packages to the brave men and women in harms way. What a great idea!
I'm a supporter over 6 years now. Any Soldier is easy to understand and to use. If I have a question - I get answer and help " in the next minute". Very easy and sometimes witty is in detail is listed about the rules " what to send" How to send" , Where to send... And what is not to send. The way how it's explain make really sense in the simple words without that anybody can feel offended. It's not a bitter dry site - the humor and love is always to read and feel.
It allows to send packages once or more times, also only to send letters of support.
. Any Soldier is like a friendly big family that welcome new people with open arms. Supporters can share ideas and help eachother-, the detail informations are just perfect, like when the APO fopr the unit close, the information emails a supporter get " to not send anything anymore" cause the contact did not response to the Any soldier page. Also that AnySoldier send reminder to the heros. Anysoldier help in so many ways.
AnySoldier.com allows you to "meet" men and women in the US armed services who will distribute care packages, cards and letters that you send to them to other service members who don't often get mail from back home. If you want to honor the extraordinary service of these brave men and women, then consider logging on,, downloading an name and address and sending a package. Each person gives you a list of the men and women under their command and usually a list of items most needed or wanted. Its easy to do and when you see their acknowledgement and response on the website, you'll understand how much you've affected them.
Its a great thing to do with your kids, too, to teach them about the importance of service - the soldiers' service to our country and your small contribution to serving them. My kids and their friends love writing cards and letters for any holiday (Halloween, Christmas, etc.) to the soldiers and marines. They also join me in shopping for them. They love to pick out the "goodies" that go into the care package.
I've used this site for three years and I highly recommend this site to my friends.
This non-profit organization is wonderful to work with. I have had NO problems. Any question I've had was answered promptly.
This site gives people like me (with no friends or family deployed) a chance to help and support a soldier overseas. It makes me feel like I can give back to them a little bit for all of what the these soldiers do for me.
I have been supporting deployed soldiers through AnySoldier.com since Dec. 2006. By support, I mean, letters and care packages. I decide what to send by what the soldier posts approximately every fifty days. I have sent MANY letters and when I can afford to send a package, I have sent, snacks, socks, magazines, national newspapers, pens, notepaper, and items too numerous to mention....I simply try to send what the soldier has asked for.
I never expect an answer to my letters and support (the soldiers are too busy staying alive in an often hostile environment!). If I do hear from them, I am on cloud nine!!! :-) I drop all other mail to read their letter or email!!!
I have been fortunate to have met five members of the military that I have supported....a real honor!!! One Army soldier was like my own child...he called me mom and I became very close to him. My husband has been supportive of me and my soldier "adoptions"and has even driven me to meet some of them.
I would recommend this nonprofit to anyone...it is NOT a dating service, it is NOT a pen pal service (though often soldiers WILL write back and you can choose soldiers that request pen pals if you want). This is not a political site. This is about support for our individual military members, no matter what your views of the war....I try to figure out ways to put a smile on their faces, because I know that they are often in some tense situations.
I would definitely rate AnySoldier, Inc. with FIVE STARS.....it is simply one of the best things I have ever done in my life.
AnySolider.com has provided me with a wonderful avenue to show support to the troops who sacrifice every day for our freedom! I first became aware of the organization when my daughter's fiance was deployed to Afghanistan (he's still there). He has a lot of support from home and I wanted to offer something to show my appreciation to others who might not have the same support. Hello....AnySoldier!!! The site is so easy to follow, extremely professional and just plain great!
Any Soldier is a wonderful organization that allows people to show their appreciation for our deployed military personnel. The website is easy to use and offers helpful tips for sending support to the troops. I have supported many through the organization and have made some lifelong friends. Any Soldier is one of the best Troop Support Organizations out there. A big "Thank you" to them for caring about our Armed Forces!!!

I've been involved with this charity for about 4 years. Never once have I been disappointed in the job that it does to provide the support and comfort of home to our national heroes. By providing a point of contact, thousands of military personnel are served with needed items of food, clothing and other support.
"I needed sheets", one young man wrote to me, " and low and behold...you sent sheets!"
Another one said, " I don't know what my future would have held, had it not been for your love and support."
All of this made possible thru the AnySoldier organization providing the names and addresses to us, the volunteers on the support line.
My son Scott and Brian Horn were stationed together in Italy and Iraq when I became aware of Any Soldier and I think it is an Amazing group that reaches out to support our soldiers with their needs and wants through letter, cards, personal items and snacks while they are away from their families serving our country. I am proud to know Marty, Sue and Brian and I applaud them in their efforts over the years in supporting our military! Everyone needs to get involved and help this group out, you never know how many lives and hearts you will touch! Thank you to the whole Any Soldier group for touching my life!
Have been with this group for 1.5 yrs. I find it unique & special b/c one of its main goals is to get letters/cards/packages into hands of individual troops receiving little or no mail/support from home; a terrible experience when surrounded by others that do - and in a dangerous place & time. Website is full of HELPFUL information & guidelines; no need to search the net for more info.; it's all here. Support available via Forum & FB page. Come join us! Once you do, it's hard to stop b/c you know you're making a difference - whether in the lives of a group, or 1 soldier feeling alone. Heart-to-heart.
NO worries! We absolutely will continue... :)
