I am passionate about animals and like to support organizations that truly make a difference in animal welfare now and in the future. I learned of a court case in 2005 that provided ALDF with temporary custody of over 300 dogs from a hoarder/puppy mill. To read the description of the conditions these innocent dogs lived in would make you sick. I knew I had to become active in supporting ALDF. We fostered one of the dogs removed from this horrific property until ALDF finally won the case in 2007 - which is when we could officially adopt him into our family. Without ALDF's tireless and intelligent lawyers on the animals side, the dogs in this case would have never stepped on grass, had regular meals or had any positive interaction with the human race. Our dog, Ben, came to us yellow from urine staining and scared of the world. As I type this now, his white furred body is curled in a clean bed next to me sleeping. He's content with good food in tummy, loved beyond words and happy to be with the people in his "circle of friends". I am the lucky one to have him in my life and for that I - or WE are forever grateful to ALDF. The passion of this organization and the people involved is inspiring. Since this initial experience with ALDF, I have independently organized events over the last 4 years that bring attention and funding to the critical work that ALDF takes on to give all animals a voice and the basic respect deserved in life. I am so grateful this organization exists and focuses on changing the laws, which in my opinion gets at the base of the problem with animal neglect and abuse. I do support many other well-deserving animal charities, but I am a lifetime supporter of ALDF because I believe they can truly make a difference now and in the future. I hope you consider getting involved too! Again, Ben thanks ALDF for his life.
My husband and I have been donors and supporters of ALDF for many years. We initially were interested in the organization because of their unique and focused mission of fighting for animal rights through the legal system. Our support was modest at first, but as we saw the amazing work that was being done, we decided to support ALDF with more and more of our charitable contributions. While there are other (also wonderful) organizations that fight for animal rights, there are none that we are aware of that works to SHAPE the future of animal law in the way that ALDF does. The cases they choose to fight are ones that will make a difference for more than the animals involved in the case. The cases that ALDF wins protects the innocents of the future, as well as, the present. The work ALDF does incredibly important to the future of all animals. We've had the privilege of meeting and talking with some of the Executive Staff at ALDF, both current and former, and we are always impressed by their commitment to the animals. All of the attorneys and staff that work at ALDF could probably be making a lot more money elsewhere, but they choose instead to make animal rights their life's work. It's not an easy job and yet they choose it for their love of all animals. If you have any doubts that this is an incredible organization filled with incredible people, just read a few of the heartbreaking cases that they are working on. To just hear the stories is difficult, but to realize that these folks see the torture and horrors firsthand and keep fighting is nothing short of amazing. ALDF is the premier organization fighting for advances in animal law and they are making a difference, for both companion and non-companion animals alike. I highly recommend this organization and I believe that ALDF is indeed a GREAT non-profit organization!
ALDF is a wonderful organization that I feel uses my donations in an efficient and effective manner to make a difference in the lives of domestic and farm animals. Many animal groups focus solely on pet species, while ALDF fights hard for those species we tend not to focus on in our daily lives. Pigs and veal calves may not be as cuddly as puppies, or as majestic as horses, but they are just as deserving of humane treatment. ALDF has been there to fight for the rights of these animals with little to no voice in our society.
