Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animal-Related, Animals

Mission: ARP's mission is to stop the senseless euthanization of homeless pets. We strive to provide for animals from uncertainty, by rescuing them from "kill" shelters, abandonment, economic turmoil, or simply - from people who "don't want them anymore." By providing love, medical care, sterilization and adoption of "recycled" pets we impact the pet over population by decreasing the deaths of unwanted pets by spaying & neutering all dogs before adoption, even foster if health permits.

Results: Since our inception as a group of private citizens trying to change the animal shelter "timed out" practice, through our weekly weekend adoption events, we have rehabilitated 15,000 animals into new homes. We have grown to be one of southern Nevadas largest animal rescue organizations with a housing facility and a no kill sanctuary ranch for retiring or "impressionable" dogs. Annually we now average 1,000 adoptions. We are one of the largest second chance options for dogs hitting death row in neighboring California's "high desert region" and locally owner relinquishment.

Target demographics: Dogs facing uncertainty is who we help.

Direct beneficiaries per year: annually we strive to assist over 1,000 homeless pets. Since inception we have helped over 15,000 animals!

Geographic areas served: Animal Welfare for dogs & animals in need of Rescue

Programs: Adopt A Rescue Pet is passionate about animal welfare, all dogs, all ages, all breeds are welcome in our programs. We provide medical care, sterilization, safe housing, nutrition and the opportunity for a new home to be found - with no expiration on how long it takes. We have an active boarding facility and a private no kill sanctuary ranch setting.

Adopt a rescue pet gave me my sweet baby a Siberian husky who steals people’s heart all the time. The rescue helped me as well grow and help people find the best friend or fur baby
Thanks ARP for the best life experiences.

I am the proud owner of a beautiful white, Lhasa Apso, named, Fluffy. After 17 ½ wonderful years together my best friend, Fluffy, journeyed to the heavens, leaving me behind and heartbroken without her.

It took me only 2 weeks before I contacted the Director of Adopt a Rescue Pet. I asked if I could help foster a dog as I had done in the past. I made it very clear to her I was NOT interested in adopting and that Fluffy was my last pet. I didn’t hear from the Director for another month. I assumed that my request had been forgotten and rationalized that it was for the best.

Then, one day out of the blue, I received a message stating “I have a dog for you”.
The Director showed up with a Hospice puppy that no one would adopt due to age and medical issues. Now, this goes to the core of what I love about the Director and her Rescue. This no kill rescue will sacrifice everything, in order that no matter how long or how much the cost, they ensure that this hospice puppy lives out her natural life. The Director assured me I could keep her for as long as I wanted, but that I wasn’t under any obligation to adopt.

That didn't last long and needless, to say, I am the proud owner and failed foster of that hospice puppy, named Sunshine. I want to thank the director and Adopt a Rescue Pet Group for bringing my dog "Sunshine" and the light back into my life!

I first heard about this charity from a friend and quickly got involved. The tragic story of what is happening to the pets and the people trying to help got my attention. It is amazing what Adopt-A-Pet does and how, not too mention the increasing number of animals they have saved. It's not just about pet adoption but about helping others care for and help the animals get back on their feet.

I was first introduced to ARP in 2007. Me and my American Eskimo had gotten evicted and I had found a rescue for that breed and Huskies also. That's when I met Elizabeth Davis Rubin. She bailed out my dog at the shelter and boarded her. I lived at Salvation army and would go to the kennel everyday, so I could help out to cover the boarding feed. Ended up volunteering there until Elizabeth asked me if I would go to Amargosa to take care of many beautiful dogs who had been rescued by her. Since I loved dogs, it was easy to say yes. I can't thank Elizabeth enough for the support and love that she sent my way. She worked nonstop in saving dogs instead of them being euthanized for no reason at all. Unfortunately, my health started to get worse and couldn't help out anymore. I really do miss taking care of all the beautiful dogs. Thank you Elizabeth for all you have done for saving the lives of so many, that no one else would do.

This dog rescue group is the best! We have adopted 4 dogs over the past 15 years and also foster dogs for the group. They have saved thousands of doggie lives and work hard to ensure every dog finds the right home. Their volunteers give lots of time and effort everyday to make a difference in the lives of these helpless dogs.

I've worked with Adopt a Rescue Pet for four years. Their programs are so dedicated to the animals they save. Many volunteers have been with them for years--some more than 10 years. They really care about the dogs they rescue--and the fosters are fantastic!! All are dedicated!!

About two years ago, I saw a dog on facebook that was about to be killed. His eyes just spoke to me...I put out a call to rescues to help me get him out alive, and Adopt a Rescue Pet not only contacted me immediately, but helped me to do the things I needed to do to help him stay alive. And then, one of their wonderful volunteers arranged for him to be rescued by Adopt a Rescue Pet. The little boy, who I named "Mr. Muggs"(AKA Henry) was transported from Orange County CA to Las Vegas where he found his forever home. This rescue is wonderful to work with, and cares deeply about each and every animal they rescue. I just love it that they take dogs of all kinds, all sizes, and mostly...they step up and take ones who are in immediate danger of being euthanized.

From the moment I stepped into Petsmart to purchase kitty litter and walked out adopting a puppy. I've been a fan and supporter and a volunteer of this great group for two years now and have seen the constant care for animals and the relentless work of volunteers working to find these homeless animals their Furever homes. I've been a foster for many of these babies and will continue to do so. It amazes me that Naomi, our faithful leader does this 24/7-365. She's genuine in her love and care for these animals. I'm proud to be a part of this group that makes a difference.

As a law student with the William S. Boyd School of law at UNLV we are required to perform a certain number of community service hours. I am so fortunate to have found Adopt a Rescue Pet and perform many hours of community service for school with this wonderful organization. Through the years I have seen the blood, sweat, and tears that everyone in this organization puts into rescuing animals in our community and working hard to find them loving, forever homes. I have volunteered with several animal welfare organizations throughout my time in Las Vegas, and this one truly seems to only have the best interest of the animals at heart. The Las Vegas community is so fortunate to have Adopt a Rescue Pet in our backyard and I am so thankful for the opportunity to volunteer with this organization.

I was retired...with dogs as my passion I chose to spend my free time helping homeless ones find a home. I have adopted all of my dogs through AARP. I called them and they graciously invited me to volunteer with them. Now I feel I am helping a organization that truly has the dogs best interest at heart. I feel blessed to give my energy and time to AARP.

Been involved with this rescue for almost 3 years. Witnessed over 2500 adoptions. Many dogs with illnesses, needing medical attention with no other options have been saved by this rescue. Including some of my own, which I got from this group. Hope they continue on their path to make Las Vegas no kill.

I am an adviser of our Animal Club at Cadwallader Middle School. My AC students have enjoyed collecting donations for Adopt A Rescue Pet. We have been able to partner with Marleen and help with animal baskets for raffles and other fundraising opportunities. Marleen has visited our club to speak to our students and we have been able to donate money and dog supplies to ARP through Marleen partnering with our club. Thank you for giving us this opportunity ARP!!

I have been a volunteer with Adopt A Rescue Pet for 13 years now, if my family and I didn't believe in them we would have left along time ago. Adopt A Rescue pet goes far beyond a lot of other rescues, they help animals in need all the time, they help out seniors so they don't have to give up their dog and when it's time they help re-home the dog in that time of need. They go out of their way to make sure if someone doesn't have food for their dog they help them out so they don't go without for themselves. They are always working on something and the volunteers are great, starting at age 16 all the way up to 90. It has been a blessing for so many people that have had to re-home there dogs due to loosing their homes and having to down size, helping with that meant that they didn't end up in the local kill shelter ready to be put down. One day they will have the Rescue Ranch that we have been dreaming of, they have the land just need to funds to build, but that will happen someday, but for now we will continue setting up and tearing down each Saturday and Sunday at 2 local PetSmarts until there are none...... Adopt Don't Shop....

Ive been involved with these guys for a few years now and they are the best group of people you can ask for. They dont just throw a dog in your home, they match you with a dog so nothing goes wrong and you dont have to bring him back. Hands down you couldnt ask for a better group.

By far one of the best rescue organizations out there. I started out volunteering and got to meet alot of the amazing people behind this organization. Elizabeth, andy, naoma, and marleen are hands down some of the most dedicated people to the cause that you will ever meet. And all the great pups they have will melt your heart when you see them. Before going to anyone else you definetely need to check these guys out. Donate, volunteer, or anything you can do to help all these wonderful animals before its too late.
