When my daughter and I needed help the most, Adopt A Family was there for us. I expected some judgement and disrespect, but what I found there was just the opposite. I was always treated with great respect and understanding. I attended some of their programming which imparted some truly inspirational information. Because of Adopt A Family, we were able to remain stable in our apartment and we received gifts during the holiday season that we otherwise could not have afforded. It was special to have flowers delivered on Mother's Day! Our financial situation has improved! I look forward to giving back to this wonderful place! They made me feel cared for and safe when I needed it the most.
I volunteered with Adopt a Family during the holiday program. I had the pleasure of engaging with the staff, clients, volunteers and donors. The staff was very caring and responsive to the clients needs. They were quick to address the unique needs of each client while simultaneously showing their gratitude and appreciation to all of the donors and volunteers. Interacting with the clients was a very humbling and rewarding experience. I heard stories from families about how grateful they were to the organizarion, donors and volunteers for their work and how these acts of kindness to their family meant more to them then they could express. Through their work, Adopt A Family was able to lift some of the burdens faced by the families during the holiday season. The parents were brought to tears knowing that they would be able to provide a special holiday for their kids while they were facing difficult times. Adopt A Family is a great organization who does wonderful work for the community.
I had the chance to watch very closely how Adopt A Family of Marin work. If I had to summarize it in one word: "caring". They care for the families that reach out for help, and they go the extra mile to provide that help. I had the opportunity to meet some of the families as well, and see first hand the level of appreciation they have for Adopt A Family, and how they were able to literally turn their lives around. The staff is amazing, and the work they do admirable. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience with them. Keep up the great work!
Adopt A Family of Marin provides hands-on financial assistance and counseling to families in need in Marin County with the goal of preventing homelessness. Why is Adopt A Family special? Every person who walks through the door is treated with respect and compassion. It's like no other nonprofit I have been involved with -- a very small agency that has a direct positive impact on multitudes of families and individuals in our community. I was most moved when I had the opportunity to deliver flowers to some of the agency's clients on Mother's Day. Many of the mothers I met were brought to tears by the unexpected gesture (as was I by the experience!). A wonderful agency.
Adopt A Family of Marin's executive director Pam Meyer and her staff do an extraordinary job all year round in helping prevent homelessness in Marin County. They provide much needed assistance to families with short term needs and also education to improve the lives of many in the long term. Such a blessing to have such a wonderful, caring organization in our County!
As a volunteer and a donor, I have been very impressed with Adopt a Family and how it fulfills its mission. Pam Meyers and her staff are top notch professionals and care deeply about the families they help. I strongly believe in this cause and I plan on becoming even more involved with this great organization in the coming years.
I love Adopt a Family. They are creative in helping families help themselves, they are kind and they are effective. Everyone is passionate about their work in helping families. Their Holiday program where you can adopt a family for Christmas is fun, rewarding and a great way to engage the entire family in helping our neighbors.
I have been so impressed as a donor and a volunteer with the level of professionalism coupled with care and wisdom that I have found at Adopt a Family of Marin. Pam Meyer and her staff give me a very high level of confidence that the money that I donate to the organization is going to be used wisely and make a lasting impact on families lifting them out of poverty and homelessness to self sufficiency.
I have been working with Adopt A Family of Marin for about four years in a number of ways as a volunteer and donor. I have especially enjoyed helping out with the agency's Christmas family gift program. I know the services this agency provides to struggling families to help prevent homelessness in our county makes a big difference to the families and to our local communities. Also, their Project Inspiration program offers life sustainability tools and resources for these families to help build personal strength and goals. This is a Great non-profit! Patti
I have been helping this organization for 3 years by fundraising, putting together Mother's Day baskets and adopting a family at Christmas. The thank you's that I receive from the families are heartwarming.
This year I have recruited some other individuals and businesses to adopt families.
I truly believe this group saves a lot of families from homelessness and gives them hope to keep their heads up and thrive.
The staff works on a tight budget to help families in Marin and I am very supportive of their efforts.
Wonderful organization, that makes such a difference in the lives of many families in Marin..Adopt A Family is well run, keeps costs down, and uses their money and volunteers effectively, for positive results.
Because of Adopt A Family, there are fewer homeless families in Marin County.
Pam and her intelligent staff at Adopt A Family of Marin are incredibly compassionate towards the clients that come to AAF for support. From listening, to educating, to offering financial support, AAF provides a very important and valuable service to the Marin Community.
I became involved with Adopt A Family several years ago through the Ross Valley Woman's League. AAF has served hundreds of families each year helping them stay in their homes--critical to the health, education and well being of the children in the home. This fundamental support is delivered with compassion and professionalism.
This review is for the food and shelter campaign. I have been affiliated with Adopt a Family through the Ross Valley Women's League for the last 10 years. The difference they have made in our community is tremendous. This small, in staff , organization , works tirelessly to make major things happen in the lives of Marin families in crisis. They work to give these families a "hand up" not a "hand out" in times of need so that they can rebuild their lives. Whether it be help in learning a new job skill, going back to school, recovering from an illness or injury, helping with a car repair or gifts for kids at Christmas, Adopt A Family does an extraordinary job in acting as a safety net so that people can rebuild their lives with self respect. I have interacted with many of the Adopt a Family recipients and they have all expressed that Adopt A Family gave them their dignity back and the drive to move out of whatever difficulty they had been experiencing at the time. They also said there wasn't another place like it in Marin. There is that expression," there but for the grace of God " , and I have never seen it at work more clearly then through my time volunteering at Adopt A Family. I am not sure whether Adopt a Family helps those on the receiving end more or those who give to this organization. As a donor and a supporter, I have been the beneficiary. I will continue to support this organization and also want to say how much growth i have seen in the organization over the last 10 years. And I am certain under the caring and intelligent leadership of Pamela Meyer this organization will continue to be a beacon to those in need in Marin.
I have been involved with Adopt a Family of Marin for the past 6 years. Of all the volunteer work I have done in my community, church and school, I truly believe that my work with Adopt a Family has made the greatest impact. I know that every dollar I donate and every hour I spend on behalf of this organization will directly benefit the families under their care. I have seen first hand how amazed the families are, not only at the generosity of our many donors, but also by the respect they receive from the staff and volunteers. We truly care about these families and do everything we can to keep them in their homes and keep their children safe. Every year the need gets greater and greater in our community and somehow Adopt a Family continues its relentless efforts to raise awareness to help more and more families...right in our own backyard. I cannot say enough about this organization and truly believe it is one of the very best nonprofits in our area.
Adopt A Family of Marin is an incredible organization that shows it's worth everyday in the people and families it shapes and saves. The success stories are never ending. Pam is extraordinarily selfless. Her management skills are unmatched. She has the capacity to build effortlessly and provide all the essentials to take someone off the street and help them find confidence and their own skills and put it to use in the most rewarding way. Adopt a Family's structure is such that it lets people help themselves with the staff to support them where needed. Please count this review for the Food and Shelter Campaign.
Adopt a Family of Marin is an essential part of our community. They are there to help regular families down on their luck. That could happen to any of us in a very short time period. The key to a stable life and quick recovery into mainstream is a roof over your head, knowing you are loved by others and self confidence. AAF makes this possible. Thanks.
I have been involved with Adopt A Family of Marin for over 10 years as a board member, volunteer, and donor. It is an extremely well run organization with extremely low administrative costs, allowing it to give most of the money raised to families in need in our local community. Every year hundreds of families are helped to remain in their homes and avoid the trauma of homelessness. Subsidies are also provided for food, car repairs, and child care to help maintain stability. I know of no other organization like it.
Marin Adopt a Family is one non-profit where I can give and know my gift makes a direct impact. My husband and I helped distribute Christmas gifts to the underserved in our community last year. We saw, first-hand their joy and sincere appreciation. These families could not afford to get gifts for their children without the generosity of Adopt-A-Family and it's donors. Gifts included basic household needs. The leadership and organization of Adopt-a-Family is superb.
