This nonprofit is doing amazingly and need no improvement
Great variety of social offerings
The place is very friendly and they meet the expectations of taking care of kids
This was an amazing experience!
They are giving back to the community they want to help others. A Place Called Home is doing such a good organization they give their time to help the community
Everything they do is amazing. Far beyond what I expected. They do so many amazing things for the children as well as families and communities.
A Place Called Home always provides great volunteer opportunities to not only work with the youth, but the larger community as well. Love it!
Organization is very invested in providing these children with all of the opportunities they dont have in their neighborhood.
Great place to volunteer in!
AMAZING ORGANIZATION, TODAY THEY HAD "COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP EVENT" THEIR VOLUNTEERS, INTERNS, STAFFS AND MEMBERS HELPED CLEAN-UP THE SOUTH CENTRAL AREA. EVENTS LIKE THESE BRING AWARENESS TO THE COMMUNITY ABOUT MAINTAINING A CLEAN COMMUNITY!
I loved APCH! I decided to volunteer for APCH because I got the opportunity to do this six week long fellowship. From the start the staff kept me very busy and I appreciated that very much. I got to know the members, staff and vistas pretty well. The atmosphere is positive and everyone is working hard all the time. I wish I could have stayed all summer long and kept helping out. This place is a home for most children and it's because of the many people who work together to make a difference.
I have volunteered a few times at A Place Called Home and I can tell that they make a difference in the community. They give the kids a place to go to and give them things to do, help with their homework and basically keep them off of the streets where they could get in trouble. I recommend taking time out of your day to volunteer with them!!!
The staff is so welcoming from the first day you step into the center. A Place Called Home is making a difference in this community that is well known for its violence and gangs. This nonprofit is one of a kind. They encourage members to give back to their community and attend college. What I love about everyone in A Place Called Home is that we all have the same initiatives for students to thrive in the real world.
Wonderful non-profit that supports a cause that is dear to my heart: Youth/Child development. I am amazed by the work at APCH and I feel privileged to be a part of such an impactful movement. They are changing lives!
I have been volunteering with the teens in this program and am super-impressed by these wonderful kids. APCH is such an important part of its community and does an amazing job at providing enrichment and education for these underserved young people. The staff and volunteers truly care about the members and make a tremendous difference in their lives. The fact that there are over 500 children on the waiting list to get into this program speaks for itself. The expectation for all of the members is that they go to college, and this is in a neighborhood where there is only a 50% high school graduation rate. The expectation is fulfilled as most of the members do indeed go to college.
A Place Called Home falls nothing short of it's title. I have been blessed to experience and be a part of something incredibly divine- an organization that glows luminously in an area labeled infamously with a sense of "darkness". Everyone there is truly committed, positive, friendly, and kind. Walking into A Place Called Home, I feel my spirits and my character being lifted- every corner I turn I see people taking time out of their day to make the world a better place- chefs, soccer coaches, teachers, art teachers, music teachers, dance teachers, counselors, coordinators- everything. I feel so proud and honored to be apart of this organization.
In poverty stricken south central Los Angeles, it is no secret that many people born here do not have access to the same opportunities as people born in "nicer" areas as people may describe it. A Place Called Home aims to provide these lost opportunities to the youth born in Los Angeles so they can better position themselves for a great future that has traditionally eluded them due to a lack of resources and priveledges. APCH feeds these kids who sometimes come from families that literally struggle to put food on the table daily, they tutor them and teach the importance of education, they give them a safe place to play, learn music, dance, art etc. from professionals that love nothing more than seeing them become successful. After working here for only a week, all the staff members knew my name, were always friendly, and were always eager to collaboratively do whatever it takes to put smiles on the face of each member. This place feels like home, it is doing an extraordinary service for poverty stricken youth, and I am so happy to have been able to be a part of it.
APCH is the best non profit in LA they are always so helpful and make your day wonderful. The people at APCH will always have a place in my heart. Thank you will certainly come back in summer.
It was a great experience working with A Place Called Home. They were organized, friendly and helpful. I was a volunteer for the Cinderella and Prince Charming project. It felt great helping the kids get ready for their prom. The organization made sure everything was in place for us to be efficient while helping the kids. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience.
It was a pleasure to volunteer my time with such a great group of volunteers and staff. Everyone was gracious and polite..... I look forward to helping more.
