This foundation is truly an inspiration. Survivors of every size, shape and color share their life experiences and lessons learned in their own words. This is not the same old superficial list of side effects of cancer treatment. What this is, is a way to touch and be touched by real people and their amazing journeys, lessons learned, and advice. Not only do I find the stories inspirational and helpful but I have also made some great friends through this foundation. If you are a survivor, the family, or a friend of someone dealing with any stage of cancer treatment or survival there is no better place to learn and be inspired by real people about the needs, wants and strength that makes people "Survivors".
This site allows people to share their stories with others. It is important for the survivors to tell the stories, and it is important that the rest of us listen! Amazing place for people to begin the healing process.
This amazing organization has brought me so much inspriation and hope during my fight with cancer. There are so many days in this battle where I feel alone thinking nobody understands what I'm going through. I can then read the stories and listen to the testimonies of so many that have fought before me. Not only has this organization eased so many fears, it has taught me how to survive in so many ways! I am so grateful for the existence of Voices of Survivors!
I am so inspired by the Voice of Survivors.. The Cancer Community is in need of a venue to speak their experience, their physical, spiritual, and emotional journey through Cancer. In my experience, most cancer patients just want someone to know how they are feeling or what they are experiencing. This is a platform for those that need a voice.. It is inspiring, motivating, and realistic, in the fact that the stories are true and heart felt.. These are the genuine people who put a face to Cancer. This is a need that has been to long in coming to those that need a voice. I am grateful and thankful to have read and shared with those that gather at the "Voices of Survivors Foundation"
Voices of Survivors is an amazing website that is great not only to survivors but to those recently diagnosed with cancer and those who have a loved one with cancer. You can read and see all of these courageous, heartfelt, and moving stories from people that have battled all different types of cancer. As a cancer survivor myself this website really helped me cope with the disease I had, I’ve been in remission for 3 years but still find myself having a hard time looking back on my hardest days. But knowing so many others have gone through the same thing and reading how they cope and deal with life with cancer really helped. Lynn Lane is an inspiration to me in how he took this horrible disease that he was dealt and turned it into his life mission to help others. This website is a must see for all. -Brandon P. Erkkila
Voices of Survivors has helped reach many people by giving regular people a voice in this world. It has given us hope that we have survived and can survive. This site has helped people make connections they may have never made before. The founder has helped give people a place to share their journey of survival. This site brings a message of hope!!
Lynn and I met last winter and told me about his Voices of Survivors and let me be a part of it. It's main objective is to let people express what the word survivor means to them and through that, you can really see that there's so many unique perspectives out there and that these individuals are multifaceted and more than just "people with cancer." It's great to know that the person behind the foundation is completely real and honest and believes in his work so much. Through him I met a lot of great people. I try to keep myself caught up by visiting the VOSF site. I'm glad to be a part of it.
Voices of Survivors has helped thousands of cancer survivors, patients and caregivers. This organization is by far the best information, advocacy and support group that you will ever find on the topic of cancer. Cancer Survivors share their stories and struggles with this hideous disease and it is done in a quick video, the written word and the newest format, conversations. There is so much power in hearing other peoples stories and to be able to put not only a face, but a voice behind these stories, is incredibly powerful. The cancer survivor world is becoming united as 1 big family and a lot of that is because of Voices of Survivors! You know the saying - there is strength in numbers! I can't say enough about the work that VOS Founder Lynn Lane does. He has touched more lives and helped more people than anybody I know. If the question is - Is Voices of Survivors worthy of a Great Nonprofit, the answer is 100% yes!!
I am one of the "voices" that was chosen to be published in the written word. From the first contact with VOS, I felt that the foundation existed to help survivors express what it feels like to survive cancer, but also to gain access to a wealth of information from other survivors. Knowing that you feel the same way as someone else after cancer means a great deal and allows the healing process to continue. Lynn was entirely professional. His emails and posts have always been supportive and empowering. He also has empathy and understands what it means to be a survivor. He gets it totally.
I found VOS via Facebook and it has been a wonderful addition to my circle of support for dealing with cancer. It is a great help to read/listen to other people's stories and how they deal with their disease. VOS offers a unique twist on sharing stories and helps us question traditional labels and terms used in the cancer world. I think VOS is opening up discussions that in the past have been taboo or off limits. It's only when we push these boundaries in appropriate manners that things progress and move in a positive direction. I have shared this site with my volunteer group at the American Cancer Society because I think it's important for people that have not had cancer to understand what we are going through so that they can better support their loved one.
This Foundation is like no other. My name is Dianne Tufo and my husband Mike (decd 12/1/09) have been apart of VoS Foundation since Mr. Lane came up with the idea. He turned such a negative time in his life to this incredible huge POSITVE to THOUSANDS not just in the US but Global. This is truly like no other. He brings ALL Cancers together. We are joined by the word Cancer but we stand United as Survivors.Survivorship starts from the day you get your diagnosis we hear so much from other sites restrictions what to say how to say what your really feeling about. This Foundation you don't have that. Cancer is Raw. What we feel from Survior to Co-Survivor is raw. Through the Video, Written Word to Conversations you see Survivorship at it's best. His mission is simple to bring awareness to Survivorship that there is life, life lessons the power and passion to help others.I am honored to be apart of the Foundation it has brought many people into my life. My husband was dedicated to spreading the Voice as a Survivor until he passed. I continue to bring the Voice for both of us and for many others.
Great site for connecting with fellow survivors and hearing their sucess stories. Inspirational and have met some great people through it. I have encouraged friends and fellow survivors to submit their stories and introduced them to the site for encouragement.
I am lucky enough to have my vos on this site. Though VOS i have a support network, am able to share my story and hopefully help others. It is important to to show that even with cancer there is hope. Being able to see and read what others have and are going through and relate to it is a very special bond. and though some of us wont make it through this cancer fight we leave behind something very special to others to come. The words of our story, our losses, our pains, our hopes and our joys. That they might just help someone or make them feel less alone when needed most. That is what VOS means to me.
As a Cancer fighting advocate Voices of Survivors is truly a guiding light in the efforts to truly express the meaning of "Survivorship". Through their unique approach, individual 'Survivors" express their own personal meaning of what it means to be a cancer survivor. It captures the true 'voices" of those who have undergone treatment, recently diagnosed or are in post-treatment. It gives you an clear insight on the lives of people dealing with this horrible disease. Thank you to Lynn for all of he is doing in the fight against cancer.
Lynn Lane created Voice Of Survivors Foundation to help not only educate and help cancer survivors but to educate and help the general public. I have learned so much from this foundation and Lynn himself. As a survivor, I am always in search of organizations that are targeted at providing information and education to people. Anyone who goes to the website and reads any of the Written Word articles or watches one of the Voices videos can see how much heart and work is put into this foundation.
Lynn has created a beautiful site that provides anyone touched by cancer an opportunity to share their voice in several different ways, including a written story, a short video clip or a recorded video conversation. It has helped me immensely to hear the stories of others who are battling cancer as I am and I was proud to contribute my voice to Lynn's site. Lynn has expanded the site to include co-survivors and the forum he has created is a great source of comfort and information to anyone touched by cancer.
As a 2x breast cancer survivor, Voices of Survivors has given me a chance to tell my story, network with others, and get support. I really appreciate what the organization has done for others also. I think the organization follows it's mission statement and does everything it says it will. I thank them everyday I have been able to be apart of it.
