It was a privilege to be working for and do something for children who require help was an enriching experience. The experience gained definitely enhanced my knowledge and learning experience.
It was wonderful working at Udayan Care. The place has its own vibrant environment which intends to encourage positivity, progression and perseverance. It was unfortunate that due to pandemic situation my involvement was online but that did not cause any sense of lack of efficiency or communication between me and the Udayan Care Team. Even tough it was an online experience it did not bound me to feel any sort of lack of engagement, all thanks to the Udayan Family that provided be with loads of opportunities which helped me to grasp a deeper understanding over educating young minds and how beautiful does it seem to uplift the young minds. I wish, I could have the time where I get to engage with children at Udayan Care Physically. It was very insightful working at Udayan Care and the kind of work they doing puting their mind and soul is applaudable.

The team is a collection of extremely hardworking people, they make sure each and every task is done on time with great efficiency. They are helpful and make us feel like we belong here :)
I started working during the lockdown period. Amazing professionalism shown by the coordinators Deepa ma'am and Sneha ma'am. And Ashish sir was always there, motivating me to come up with ideas to help the shalinis. That's how we started Spoken English classes which essentially became a platform for the shalins to speak and remove the hesitancy and fear of being wrong. No language can be mastered unless spoken frequently. Drastic improvement can be seen from the first class where the Shalinis were reluctant to even speak in English, now to the level that they are removing their fear of speaking and trying to open up. There is still a long way to go but we are working on it. Udayan Care gave me complete creative freedom.
Highly supportive staff, working diligently for the good cause.
Good luck “Udayan Care” for the future endeavours.

I was a summer intern with Udayan Care, New Delhi for the duration of 4 months (May-August). I worked under the Institutionalised Children Explorations and Beyond Journal (ICB) with the Advocacy, Research and Training Department (A.R.T.). The ICB Journal at Udayan Care is an international, multi-disciplinary, peer-reviewed academic journal on Alternative Care for out-of-home-care (OHC) children and young persons, focused on the South Asia region.
My work experience included working on database creation and management, proof-reading, outreach, news updation, graphic designing, report writing and online research in the field of child rights, advocacy and orphans. I also had the opportunity to attend webinars on the topics of accelerated learning principles, research integrity and publishing ethics, and the effects of COVID19 on children with disabilities. These hands-on learning experiences not only helped me expand my skillset but also sharpen writing and communication skills. The platform provided to me by the organisation and publication was educative and my supervisor provided guidance throughout.

Working with them was a truly enlightening process.
I came to USF to conduct research in their 4 chapters. I had such great interactions with the girls, alumni and I found myself leaving each chapter with a big smile on my face. I personally had a very enriching experience as I got to learn about the entire child sector and about after services in various countries including India. The overall experience was very productive and I would also like to recommend others for interning with this reputed organisation.
My experience at Udayan Care was far beyond great in all respects.
As an intern, I was asked to report to Udayan Ghar Greater Noida, from 2 PM to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. I was given three tasks, namely teaching two eleventh class students English, teaching one student in class three all subjects, and the third being documentation work.
It gave me immense delight to teach the students because they were so inquisitive and enthusiastic about the entire learning process, that i felt very motivated to do more. They all have a lot of great potential. Some write poetry worth applause, some dance very gracefully et al. Luckily, the students i was supposed to teach were good at sports (just like me). So I was able to gel with them very well.
On the last day, i prepared files for them, that contained my letters for them, their worksheets and pictures. I hope they liked it!
Udayan Care proved that their purpose is very much intact, with the support and guidance of the dedicated volunteers and teachers, who were always on toes to provide the children anything and everything they aspire for!
Thank you Udayan Care for helping my build my compassion for the society, even more!
My name is Yasmeen Hafeez. I had worked with Udayan care as an intern from 1st of July to 5th of August 2019. Today is my last day. My work field was in Udayan care home 1 Santa nagar and I worked there as a teacher, guide, and friend of the children and resolve their problems related to study and all with learning by doing, English practice, dictation & lots of. Once I had done a workshop in office with Udayan shalini fellowship girls on unemploybility and Government Job preparation. I will never forget this experience and I always try to connect with Udayan care and those children. All the children of home 1 are really cute and intelligent. It was great to see their mutual understanding, love, care & friendship for each other. During my internship I observed lots of good & positive things there eg-there was a homely good environment, they always asked me for food whenever that had their lunch, whenever I entered they offered me a glass of water. They have excellent manners and etiquettes, they execute their day to day work very efficiently like study, eating food, doing homework etc. really touched my heart. I came into this charity to conduct research in the 17 Udayan Care homes. I loved visiting the homes because I had such great interactions with the children, aftercare, alumni, and caregivers, and I found myself leaving each home with a big smile on my face. Thank you for allowing me into your homes!
I am Karuna and I volunteered at the organization for 3 months. Very helpful employees and its a great environment to work in with a lot of opportunities to learn and grow professionally.

Udayan Care is an institution which truly seeks to provide the best care for the children living in their 17 ghars and continues to invest in them as they move to aftercare and ultimately into the alumni network. Grateful for the opportunity to spend the summer visiting all the homes and contributing to work the organization is doing to improve mental health outcomes
UdayanCare is one of the organizations which does what it says. The routine they follow in maintaining work logs and several documents are very managed. I worked closely with Mansi and Hemlata. These people value and respect their work as well as those who attempt to give contribution towards the overall objective. Previous Stories
Working at Udayan Care was an immense, once in a lifetime kind of experience. I saw and very closely faced challenges that are involved in the management of the NGO. I can imagine how hard it must be to manage work with full on dedication and sincere efforts towards achieving the whole soul aim of society’s wellbeing and personal growth.
All in all , experience was worth it as it really inspired me to give back to the society. It gives one hope that things can be changed and will change.
There are a few things that struck me when I went to volunteer at the Sant Nagar home 1 of Udayan Care. First
of all, it was the behavior of the kids towards one another. It was heart-warming to observe the mutual
love, respect, understanding and friendship they share. During my period of volunteering, there was not
even once that I sensed any kind of rivalry or jealousy among them. I found that beautiful because they
all come from different backgrounds and yet live like siblings- like a family.
Another thing that touched me was their manners. At the end of each practice session, they would thank
me before bidding goodbye. Also, they would sweetly bring me a glass of water and urge me to sit down
whenever they thought I looked exhausted.
These kids are rich repertoires of warmth, love and great potential. And it makes me glad that they are in
a place like Udayan which seems to fully recognize this fact. I find it remarkable how wonderfully they are
taken care of- from providing them with a shelter within the community that feels like nothing less than
a home, to providing the kids with all sorts of academic and extra-curricular opportunities. I am indeed
proud that I have worked with an NGO like Udayan; so dedicated, sincere and passionate about the work
they do.
It was great experience to work with Udayan Care. People over here are very supportive and encouraging.
Really great and passionate people are working here for the good of the society!!
i did my first internship here, couldn't have asked for a better place !!!
It was a great experience working with Udayan Care. Everyday I got to learn something new and how are we required to work as professionals.
It was a wondeful experience to work with Udayan Care. As this was my first internship, so it was a great professional start for my career.
I'm Anannya, a first-year law student of Symbiosis. I interned in Udayan Care under the advocacy department over the winter. Although my work was primarily at the Head Office, I was able to witness the functioning of an excellent alternative-care model. I was happy to see that, Udayan puts in efforts to help kids without parental guidance develop both academically and emotionally. Their home-model is very similar to home and focuses on a more family-style upbringing. I was also happy to see that Udayan directs its focus towards child rights and makes efforts towards this.
My name is Sakshi Chaube and I'm pursuing MA in counseling psychology from Amity University, Noida.
My experience at udayan care Greater Noida home was great. The work environment was very homely and understanding.
I leart a lot of things important for my field.I also enhanced some soft values like patience, discipline and time management skills.
I am Akriti srivastava of amity university i worked here at udayan ghar mehrauli, the girls home
where i made a care plan it was a great experience, learnt about children and their need, goals and also as studnet i learn to be more patient
I work and live in California, USA. I visited India and visited Udayan Care. In the long-run, I resonate well with Udayan Care's (UC) vision and mission statements which is to focus on uplifting those most in need for a nurturing home, basic - health and education and girl education and vocational placement. This NGO or not-for-profit organization is cost-effective, efficient and professionally managed where self-esteem and human dignity is at its core. This was my first time volunteering at UC and I was impressed by the well-managed and streamlined volunteer management process starting with an informative orientation. I gave a 5 day workshop on Soft-Skills development related to English language learning, Interview Preparation Skills and Critical thinking.
I accentuated to UC management about couple of items that should be stopped as a traditional practice rooted in Indian bureaucratic culture.
I am significantly impressed by my volunteer experience at UC and would return to it at the next opportunity and provide double impact (2x students).
I am Anju Chaturvedi, pursuing Masters in social work from Amity University, Noida. Being a final year student i got the opportunity to join the Udayan Care and worked at the grass root level, which was a great experience and exposure for me. i really took this internship seriously and worked hard and also enhanced my knowledge and understanding in the particular field. Udayan Care has given me the platform from where i learnt alot and can make my future in this field. Lastly if i get the opportunity i would like to join Udayan Care again.
I had really enjoyed working with Udayan Care and i would love to be involved in your programmes in future too. I feel that the programmes which Udayan Care is running are really helping the underprivileged people a lot. I overall had a wonderful experience while working with the children of the Udayan Care.
I am Liza Bora from Amity University pursuing Master's of Social work. Getting to work as a fieldwork intern on wednesday's and friday's with Udayan Care was great experience. The happiest thing was meeting the children and conducting workshops wherein they took full participation with us. Documentation work was taught to us well by Mr Tarni to me and my collegue. Hope Udayan care do wonders and change the lives of children for better. Dedicated staff and friendly atmosphere to work under Udayan Care.
Udayan Care is a great place to work. I did my internship with Udayan Care as my field work in college I learnt so many things which are really helpful in my social work.
All the employees in the NGO makes you so comfortable to work and even they guide you.
Udayan Care will always be memorable to me.
I worked at Udayan Care for a month as an intern. The people at the head office were friendly and full of life. There was never a dull day and I learnt things that I would have never otherwise known about.
Udayan Care and its motto to give each child an equal opportunity, to follow the "Rhythm of Life" is inspiring. I hope my research will help the aftercare services across India and I hope to have made a difference with my work.
Thank you Udayan Care for inspiring people and especially me everyday.
Teaching at the Udayan Care was my first volunteer experience ever. The students were not just enthusiastic, inquisitive and cooperative but also gave me unflinching love and respect. It was an enriching and wonderful experience for me. The time I spent with the children of Udayan Ghar Mehrauli Home 3 and 12 will be among most cherished memories of mine. The coordinator and supervisors were also very supportive. This experience has also laid the foundation stone of my passion for teaching. This exposure helped me understand the whole process of learning in a better way. I understood the importance of breaking things down into simple cases and I could see how effective learning process could be if we adopt algorithmic thinking. I also understood the significance of retention and memory, both long term and short term(working memory) in order to grasp a concept or an idea.
But above all, this experience helped me imbibe the values essential for being a sensible and responsible citizen, and motivated me to always contribute to the society in every way possible; especially to fulfill the needs of such underprivileged children.
Thus this Internship has been an enriching and learning experience for me and teaching me to be more patient and compassionate in dealing with children from such versatile backgrounds.
I have done volunteership at one of the udayan ghar in Ghaziabad. I must say that the kids are being brought up like a jewel covered in a piece of velvet cloth. They are given equal opportunities to shine the way along. I have remained as one of the udayan shalini's fellow, who earlier received fellowship support from this wonderful organisation. Kiran Modi mam is a source of inspiration. Now, I can proudly say that I had been a part of this programme, though as a volunteer now. Moreover, I would always seek forward to give my inputs to any of their programmes and love to be a part of them.
I had been working as a volunteering at the Udayan Shalini Fellowship Panchkula chapter. It was an awesome experience. My Mentor was very helpful and the projects I did were worthwhile and interesting. Overall it was a really awesome experience working with the organisation.
I enjoyed to work with Udayan Care. All the staff members were very supportive and helpful. All are doing great job. I belong to educational field. This is the reason, I chose to teach Hindi phonetics to younger ones. We cannot neglect this fact that teaching should always be bidirectional. Children could learn something from me, but this experience would help me to be a better future teacher.
There were no time restrictions. You can apply according to your schedule. And whichever field you are belonging to, it doesn't matter. You are a college student or working man/woman or anyone else, if you wish to apply. Just fill the form and go for it.
Have an experience and enjoy to be a part of it. :) All the best.
My internship at Udayan Care was amazing. It challenged me in so many ways. I started teaching them things. I laid stress on Science and maths, as these are the things they need to apply in real life. It gave me immense satisfaction and inner peace when they showed interests. I gave them sufficient breaks between studies, and played educational games, told them moral stories too.
Creative things like drawing, painting, were also included in my daily targets. I made sure I worked hard, and I am thrilled that I was given the opportunity and made it happen. Members and employees of the NGO supported me a lot, and gave me ideas also. Atmosphere there was awesome, close to nature, peaceful, with very good hearted and thoughtful people around. I got acquainted with people who have devoted their whole lives for the betterment of society; with no self -gain or greedy motive behind it. They chose social work as their profession; because they wanted to do it, not for gaining publicity or making money; but for the satisfaction of joy of giving. Respect for them truly. I always recommend internships to anyone who is looking to change career or studying. Doing an internship was one of the best decisions I have made, both professionally and personally and is an experience that I will cherish and value forever.
Udayan Care is a great place to work. I did my internship with Udayan Care for 3 weeks and I learnt so many things which are really helpful in my law career. All the employees in the NGO makes you so comfortable to work and even they guide you. The best part of the internship was when I wen to shelter home to meet girls and we interacted and played so many games.
My mentor was really helpful will assisting work to me.
Udayan Care will always be memorable to me..
It was great interning at Udayan Care everyone was very helpful and they are doing a great thing and addressing a major issue successfully.
It was amazing volunteering at Udayan Care. I got to learn so much and all my experience gained me motivation and courage. Now I can proudly say that Udayan Care made a soft-hearted and a strong-minded person
I joined Udayan for a Summer internship. I am so glad I joined Udayan Care. I had a very good experience with the lovely kids there. I learnt so many things about my field as well as about life.
My experience at Udayan Care is one such experience which I would cherish for the rest of my life. Udayan care does what it says and that’s the main reason behind their utmost reputation in the country. The kind of lifestyle and facilities they are providing and the etiquettes and education they are imparting to the children is the need of the hour. The children there were smart and unique. Apart from school, each one of them is engaged in some or the other activity and that too at an advanced level. Udayan care is even giving them the opportunity to showcase their talent at the Bigger stage by sending them abroad. The kind of exposure, they have provided to me has also helped me to develop mentally. All the children there treat all other children living in the home as their siblings. They also treated me more like a friend and less like any other volunteer or intern. The employees there were also quite helpful and made me feel like a part of their family. This journey gave me an opportunity to look towards other things in my life. It helped me realize that how small help from someone can do good to the other. This journey is something I will cherish for the lifetime. While working in the NGO I realized that despite all odds one has to face in his/her life, one can still be a strong person. This realization has helped me become a better person and has changed my perspective about life and people. I am very thankful to my Institute and Udayan care for giving me this opportunity and to help me make a better person. All in all, I want to say that the kind of work Udayan care is doing is excellent and I feel privileged to provide my part of support to the organization. It was a life-changing experience as I was able to feel the happiness of giving something without expecting anything in return. The joy of doing good gave me immense satisfaction. I also do hope to come back soon for another period of internship (if time permits) and will also like to remain connected for the future.
I started working in Udayan Care as an Intern in the field of Psychology.I didn’t knew that I would experience such vast exposure in my field here. I heard a lot about this amazing Organization before and I was so curious to work here. I was greatly influenced and amazed by the work of this Organization. I learned a lot. I was asked to work at Udayan Ghar Balika Sector 72,Noida. I really had the most amazing experience. I was so happy to see that the children were so disciplined, respectful, friendly and so energetic. They cooperated throughout. They all were so motivated to learn new things. When I used to teach them certain psychological concepts or strengthen their concepts through psychological games or activities they used to enjoy a a lot and used to tell me the next day that they played the same game or same activity at the evening again. The kind of satisfaction I used to get was priceless. Every child was so attentive. I had the best time of my life in Udayan Care Summer Camp 2018 held at Greater Noida. The kind of energy that was present in the children as well as in all the staff members throughout the summer camp was the reason to such a successful and wonderful event. The way all the people used to work together as a family was a treat to watch. I was given the responsibility of Documentation because of which I get to experience such beautiful event. I believe that the kind of positivity and happiness I experienced at Udayan Care, I wouldn’t have experienced it at any other organization. Everyone is so helpful and gentle in their approach here. All my doubts or queries were taken care of by the social worker I was working with or by the Volunteers Department. The kind of work Udayan Care does is speechless. The way Udayan Care look after their children and the way they raise their children I don’t think I have seen this at any other organization. The After care program, Udayan Shalini program and their work in the IT Sector highlights the thoughtfulness of this organization and tells how updated and trending this organization is and also all their programs expresses their idea of equality, freedom and quality of life for each and every child . I would surely love to work with Udayan Care again in the future and would encourage the people I know to volunteer here for sure.
My experience working at Udayan was true and meaningful. I call it true because the organization actually does what it says. It works to nurture and offer a safe environment for children to grow, learn and progress. It was meaningful because I was able to put all of me into the work, interaction and experience that the brief tenure offered me. The experience was fulfilling, fun and significant. I would love volunteer again.
It's my first time working with Udayan Care but my experience here has been amazing. I would definitely be continuing as a volunteer. Udayan Care has given me an opportunity to meet such amazing children. I've learnt a lot from them and they're now like an extended family.
My experience with Udayan care is one I will remember for the rest of my life. While working with children I realized it's a pleasure to be around them and their energy is contagious, one just cannot be tired while sitting around them. The children have this zeal for life that makes you feel as if there is so much to look forward to. My time at Udayan care was one amazing phase.
Udayan Care has provided me a great opportunity to know the children of the home intimately and develop an everlasting bonding with them.During my days of association with Udayan care I found that the care and efforts taken by the organisation to provide all modern amenities to the children for their development are worth appreciation. The cleanliness and quality maintained in the home deserves special mention. Most importantly, I carry a beautiful memory of my association with the children which I will always cherish fondly through my entire life. I was overwhelmed with joy to receive mementos from the children made out of their love and affection for me.
Udayan Care is an organization that doesn't only provide a home to those in severe need but also to those who work for making it happen. Working at Udayan Care opened me to a new family of workaholics dedicated to making a difference.
I got to learn a lot during my time here and shall keep in touch always because I really do believe in the cause and the people here.
I have been associated with 'Udayan Care' since September 2017 and i must say it's an amazing place to work. There's a lot to learn from and contribute to this institution dedicated to the noble cause of empowering vulnerable children, women and youth across 11 states of India. The management under the leadership of Kiran mam is very kind and supportive. I would like to thank the entire team of Udayan care for making my volunteering experience such a memorable one.
Loads of Love !!
On the first day I felt connected with the organisation and the cause. Never ever have I been this much excited about the task given to me. The members of the Organisation were always supportive and provided me with the resources required to achieve my tasks.
I would like to thank Kiran Mam for all her guidance and support and all other members who supported me. I thank my college for giving me this great opportunity to work with Udayan Care.
Udayan Care will always remain special to me and will always look forward to work with it.
Love,
Meghna- SOIL Intern
I have been associated with Udayan Care since Sept 2017 and since then it's been a great opportunity to give whatever I can selflessly towards contribution of a better society. There are many NGOs/Child Care Institutions in India who focus on child welfare and they truly live upto the mark by supporting the children to a legal age of 18. But what next just imagine yourself left by your family at that age, how will you carry on living a normal life after living under the guidance of parents/CCIs . Its difficult all of a sudden to face the harsh realities of life and children are vulnerable to unemployment, psychological stress, physical and mental illness, homelessness and dependency. Udayan care has started implementing After care services which will the benefit the children leaving CCIs and help them establish an independent life. Very few organisations have come up such initiatives that have holistic approach for welfare of children. The journey to fulfill this mission is very long yet Udayan Care is determined with to get over it with a strong workforce supported by energetic and diversely equipped volunteers. Udayan Care has seen a tremendous support from highly active volunteer base.

Working with Udayan Care was an incredible learning opportunity! The staff are incredibly welcoming and kind, and show an inspirational dedication to their work. They are motivating, hard-working, and engaging. The work can be very self-driven and directed, which offers a greater freedom to the individual work process and overall project outcome. It is a holistically enriching experience and it is greatly recommended to pursue this nonprofit if slightly interested or curious. Working in the homes, if you choose to do so, is an experience that will impact you indescribably.
I worked with Udayan care under the Shalini Fellowship Programme for two months. As a content writer, it was mostly an online work. But still I believe that my efforts would serve the purpose of helping out the Shalinis. With constant support and guidance from the leads, I learned a lot while working. It was a peaceful environment conducive to personal development.
Had a wonderful time here interning with Udayan Care. Learned so much about the world and also myself. Anyone can come make an impact on these children's lives if you really want to and have the heart to do some good.
During my one year association at Udayan Care my main aim was to develop high order thinking capabilities in the group and I have given my 100% towards this. We know Udayan Care’s aim is to support overall development of all inmates and ensure they are given opportunity for right skill set and education to evolve as capable, responsible individuals. In my approximately 25 visits, I contributed towards the same cause.
This project was focused on interacting and assisting them with studies. During my long sessions, we used to have a study session first and then an activity session like playing football, solving puzzle, awareness on hygiene, creating a joke scrapbook by pasting the newspaper jokes etc. though these activities were limited to two to three students at a time yet enjoyable.
Overall I got a great experience from this project as it enabled me to touch many lives as if you teach someone you touch his soul. I have enjoyed my time in Udayan Ghar and will be continuing as time permits.

The entire experience was very welcoming and heart touching. It felt like another family. These are doing a noble cause.
Udayan care is well reputed for a reason. The efforts made by the organisation is highly commendable. The children are sent to good schools which ensures holistic development. The organisation also supports such children who are not inclined towards studies and desire to pursue non-academic courses like photography, painting etc.It ensures that the kids are well placed in their lives.
I have developed personally by working here. The children here are so special and always have a smiling face. They treat everyone as their own siblings. The management has actually given them a family. The children have so much potential in them and they work really hard to fulfill their aspirations.

This organisation is perfect as per the current scenario in the country as it brings out issues related to the welfare of the women force. It was my privilege to be associated with this organisation, even though for a small period but definitely an eye opener.
I wish them all the best for their upcoming initiatives.
it was great experience and i hv learned more than what i expected. at the time when i was leaving i felt like i m leaving my home...thank you for such beautiful experience...
I had a great opportunity to intern with Udayan care for a month , it certainly believes that all children are special because in the first place it works towards the welfare and betterment of the underprivileged children and secondly it gives an opportunity to intern for students of all courses and streams . For me the internship at Udayan care was one of the best experiences of my life , i found a new family here and it feels just like home because everyone is very helpful and supportive . I learned many new things here and i believe i have become a more better person both professionally and personally .
The first day when I came to the Organisation, everything just seemed like how an office would look like (probably a little boring). But with time, it probably grew on me. I felt more like a home. A home where I might be a stranger to everybody else. As I continued my work I began talking to the staff and soon build a good bond with them.
Now when it's my time to leave the organisation, it feels like I am leaving my home.
I had the great opportunity to intern with this NGO and Udayan Care is really working very well for the orphan and abandoned children, the whole staff is very helpful and I never felt like a intern here, its just like a family as well as I also learned a lot from here, the practical knowledge which I have gathered from here will definitely help me out in my future plans.
I had the lovely opportunity to live in the Jagshanti Udayan Ghar care home for girls for 7 weeks, conducting drama workshops. This was part of our Masters in Applied Theatre programme placement at the Central School of Speech and Drama. Everyone at the home took such excellent care of my colleague and I and helped us integrate into life at the home with ease and grace. We felt very much like a part of their extended family. They treated us with respect, care and compassion.
Teaching English to the children everyday for 2 hours Mondays to Fridays and conducting drama workshops with them, our main programme, was a treat and a joy to experience. The staff were every ready to communicate with us when we needed materials and supplies and always found ways to help us sort any issues we may have had.
We learned much about the culture, some new Hindi words and even got up to date with the latest drama shows! The home cooked food was authentic and top notch, food haven indeed.
Thank you everyone at the Care Home! It has been a truly wonderful experience. Thank you for welcoming me into your Home and taking care of me. I hope I have brought some smiles to you as you have filled my heart with smiles and joy :) Love and Light, Varshini
I had the chance to live in the home for 7 weeks and deliver a drama project. We felt like a part of their extended family. The home really took care of us as international volunteers and the home staff treated us with the absolute top respect.
I volunteered at Udayan Ghars for ten weeks, and my only regret is that I could not stay longer. It wasn't just that the kids stole my heart (although that is certainly true); but seeing with what passion and commitment Dr. Kiran Modi and others at Udayan are working made me want to be a part of their efforts. What stood out in particular is a constant striving to improve the programs and approaches: during my visits to the main office I would often run into program managers discussing what needs to be changed or adjusted. I originally came to Dr. Modi with a proposal to include Udayan Care in my independent research on orphan mentoring programs. She was very open to it, and asked me to let her know if I have any insights on what else the children are lacking and what can be improved upon.
Udayan Care approaches the problems that vulnerable children might have from multiple angles. It provides a family-like environment, mentoring of caring adults, academic, artistic, and sports education, and guidance and support after they enter adult life. Some of the mentor parents, I could see, took on a full time volunteering position and committed themselves completely. The children themselves would tell me: "Udayan Care is the best NGO!" This, as well as direct observation of how well the children and the young people who have graduated from Udayan Care are doing, showed me that the model works. I am so grateful to have gotten an opportunity to be exposed to the great work Udayan Care does.
It was a great experience working with this N.G.O. It gives immense satisfaction to work for the society and see those kids you worked for, grow up into responsible citizens.
An N.G.O. with a very broad objective and aim to reach full perfections. My experience as an intern in this N.G.O. has been totally enriching and encouraging. Throughout my internship, I was working with the organisation, for the children, for the organisation. The multiple projects I was given in the N.G.O, like Report Compilation, workshop enrollment etc, groomed me into a well trained worker in an organisation, made me cautious and careful with work, made me responsible and conscious about the environment in which I am working and for whom I am working. It also gave me immense technical skill and knowledge.
I worked at the Skills Development Centre in Greater Noida for a month. They run a sewing production unit there which is fairly new and my role was to implement a quality standard and create new designs with the women working in the unit. As a trained designer, the project was a perfect fit for my skills and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Udayan Care has been lovely and supportive of my ideas and suggestions. The Skill Centre is doing a great job in producing hand made goods in an ethical and sustainable method and I hope to see the centre do well commercially in the future. I highly recommend volunteering with Udayan Care, it is a transparent organisation that is excelling in its work.

I have been interning at Udayan Care. It's a great Foundation to work for. It provides various opportunities where we can grow professionally and personally. The people here are extremely cordial and make you feel accepted.
I have been a part of Udayan Care as an intern. The NGO has been doing a wonderful job in training the children and helping them fulfill their dreams. The staff is very helpful and loving- never felt like an intern-always felt like family! This internship helped me grow in all aspects-learning something from everyone I met..
I achieved personal satisfaction by working with this organization. Volunteer friendly yet very disciplined in the work. Much to learn from all the children and staff at the main head office. Cheers Udayan Care for creating 'Many Miracles of Hope'!
This piece of art by a child at one of the Udayan Ghars. Thanks for these lovely inspiring moments.
I wished to intern in an organization that worked for children, families or communities. Hence, I chose to spend the next 21 days at Udayan Care. It is an NGO which works for disadvantaged groups by establishing more family homes, ensuring girls’ higher education, providing vocational training and livelihood programmes, advocating for better standards in institutional and alternative care, etc.
The programme started with an orientation to the interns, 8 in all, about social sector, Udayan Care’s Vision and Mission and its activities across the country. We were also informed about the strict timings which the interns were expected to adhere to, and were told that we’d be working 6 days a week between 10 am to 5 pm at the Lajpat Nagar head office of Udayan Care. Subsequently, the students, divided into different teams, were attached to different departments for three weeks to work with them.
The work allotted to us included, first of all, knowing and understanding the organization, their activities and their brand guidelines, and assisting in areas such as developing content for the communication department. We gradually started enjoying working in an office environment. Each day, we used to reach office between ten to ten thirty in the morning and would leave after four thirty in the evening.
We also had the opportunity to visit the Mehrauli Udayan Ghar, where we spent around 5 hours with the children, playing dumb charades and Antakshari. These girls were cooperative, well behaved and eager to play games and get photographs clicked with us. We left the Ghar with a smile on our faces. The satisfaction derived from spreading smiles amongst children was much more than any college project we would have ever done!
During the internship duration, each intern was supposed to conduct a workshop for the other interns, and these sessions-ranging from cupcake decoration to Haiku writing-brought us interns closer to each other.
The highlight of the internship was a day when an Udayan Care alumnus came to the office to share her life journey with the interns. The lady, whose medical education had been sponsored under the Udayan Shalini fellowship programme, talked about the importance of dreaming big and working hard to realize dreams. She charmed us with her zeal and passion and motivated us to pursue bigger goals.
The programme concluded with each intern presenting a report -summarizing their experiences and recommendations along with organizational development strategies.
It was an amazing learning experience. The work assigned suits your interest. Since this is a volunteer driven organisation, my work had immense value to the organisation.
I worked with Udayan Care for a Period of 3 weeks . It was a wonderful journey . I worked in the Accounts department . I got a glimpse of corporate environment by working here . I used to make different annual and quarterly expense model for both local and FCRA donors. Also I maintained day book expenses of various homes . My supervisor ( Mr. Rajeev sir and Abhimanyu sir )were always there to help me . I am thankful to be a part of this NGO and i will continue to be a part of Udayan care.
I was an intern with Udayan Care for 3 weeks and it was the best experience .It helped me explore as an individual and inspired me to become a change. The common mindset of community work is challenged by Udayan care as it also incorporates office work along with community work which is great learning experience. I can't thank Udayan care enough for all the exepriences and teachings it help me gain through my internship.
I was associated with Udayan Care as an intern roughly for a period of 3 months. During my brief stay at the organisation, I was overwhelmed with the scale of work handled by the members of the team and the dedication each one put to make children smile. It requires a lot of patience and expertise to coordinate the wide range of tasks that the Udayan Care undertakes. My best wishes to the team. People in the office were great and really helpful and made me feel like part of the Organisation.
I had a wonderful journey at Udayan Care. I had to know different-different works to do in a accounts department. I gathered information and knowledge from my supervisor. I had learn so many things, e.g.-about Indian and FCRA files, Home Expenses, to know about more in Tally, Bank Reconciliation, etc. I get know about the office environment and type of work. It is very Great experience. The supervisor (Miss. Sumita Ma'am) were always there to help and cleared all the confusion.
I had really a great time spend with this organisation and collects lots of knowledge and gain experience through this organisation.I really learn that how do manage the official works like Bank reconciliation, TDS ,Home expenses etc. This organisation(UDAYAN CARE)is really done a wonderful work and this is really a memorable journey in my life and also feel thankful to be a part of this organisation.I always pray that this NGO continues very long time.....
Udayan Care is by far the best NGO that I've worked with.
My project was Daan Utsav, previously known as the Joy of Giving week.
In order to achieve our target, we formulated proposals that were sent to CSR's and made PowerPoint Presentations to educate people about the Daan Utsav. All this was done with the help of our Supervisors. I had a great time here and am looking forward to working here for my next internship too.
Udayan Care is one of the best NGOs in India, working in the field of providing care, protection and education to children in need.I worked here for about two months on a research project on Foster Care in South Asia.Working here was a marvellous experience since nowhere else can one expect such guidance, cooperation and support. The organisation utilises the skills of its volunteers and interns in the best possible way and anyone interning here is sure to gain in terms of knowledge and experience as well as personally. The enthusiasm, dedication and the whole hearted efforts of its members are simply commendable.Working at the head office made me feel that the transparency and accountability of Udayan can be seen clearly in the way it operates.
I did my internship as part of the master program in political science at Linnaeus University. During my 15 weeks of internship at Udayan Care I lived at the Gurgaon Home 5 with the amazing children and coordinators. Beside my internship and the work with the projects I spent time volunteering with the children.
udayan Care really let my use all my academical skills and listened to my needs as a student. I did not only get to grow academically but also as a person. I know have knowledge about my professional skills and also an insight to the great work Udayan Care does on the field. Udayan Care is very dedicated to their interns and provide all necessary support.
Made my Internship for my bachelor in peace and development with Udayan Care. Spent 15 weeks staying at the boys home in Gurgaon while working on different projects for the organisation while volunteering outside office hours with the kids here. I had a great time and appreciation for all the hard and important work done by Udayan Care. It has been most valuable to me personally for both Academic work life experience and personal growth. Can recommend to all to volunteer and do internship here. Big plus is that they do not charge International volunteers/interns any fees as many other organisations do. The organisation is most professional and with insight in the economy I can with confidence say that every cent goes in to the work and to benefit of the beneficiaries of Udayan Care. Had all support I needed for my work and great contact with the volunteer department
Working at Udayan Care was an immense, once in a lifetime kind of experience. And I feel highly obliged to be a part of this great journey. I saw and very closely faced challenges that are involved in the management of the NGO. I can imagine how hard it must be to manage work on daily basis with full on dedication and sincere efforts towards achieving the whole soul aim of society’s wellbeing and personal growth.
All in all , experience was worth it as it really inspired me to give back to the society. Udayan Care lives up to its name. It gives one hope that things can be changed and will change.
It inspire me knowledge on how an office working system operates. I had a great time acquiring fabulous ideas on aftercare and feel terrific to be part in making a network for the careleavers in India.
I had a wonderful experience working at UDayan Care.
I got to know about the kind of work Udayan Care does for children with needs. They are improving every now and then and always up for suggestions that they take positively.
During my stay at UDayan. I have never experienced any kind of issues at all . The supervisors are always there to help and clear all the doubts.
Working at Udayan Care was a very wonderful experience. We got to know about lot of things . Experiences was great and have learned a lot of things.

and had a wonderful experience it was a knowledgeable journey .
environment here is vey healthy and loving
I had a wonderful experience with Udayan Care as it made me experience some different aspects of life which i would not have experienced else.
We celebrated Daan Utsav where we drafted proposals to the CSR's for fund raising and the had an employee engagement activity too.
I interned at Udayan Care for a period of a month and I have never had such an enriching experience as I have at UDayan. They are really trying hard to make a difference people's life who are underprivileged by whatever means they can. I grew a lot as a person with this organisation.
My experience with Udayan Care has been a truly wonderful one. Here people are nice and i really admire Udayan Care for its supporting and caring for us.
The experience that I have had at Udayan Care ghar as a volunteer was simply exquisite and impeccable! The facilities provided to the kids are equal or even more to that provided to a normal kid being raised up by their parents. The whole atmostphere over there was very friendly and thus teaching the kids and making them do yoga was more of a fun activity than a task.I made a lot of memories there and shared a bond of friendship with the kids which I will cherish forever!I would recommend everyone to be a part of it once a since it will leave a very positive impact on you.

The best thing about the Udayan family is it's work ethics, the sincerity and the dedication shown by the team for the well being of the destitute children was admirable. Udayan care is a great NGO to start with. For someone who is looking for an opportunity to learn more and yet have a wonderful time in the meantime, this is the perfect place. I'm just going to get done with my span of 21 days as a volunteer and it feels like I've known everyone in my office for a lifetime. The work environment is very friendly, everyone is always there to greet you with a smile. Don't go by the size of the office, because it's connections are spread all across the globe and is definitely a well-recognized organization. It is a first time for me to do volunteer at NGO.I had learned a lot of things from udayan care. I went to head office twice a week for 2 months. Before, I had worked as social worker in Japan. I can’t speak English well, but every time my supervisor and office staff helped me. They gave me many opportunities. I joined social worker meeting, international conference on 18th, March, 2016, and workshop about attachment theory. I will surely make use of this experience in my life!
Udayan emphasizes on a magnificent approach of holistic development of each and every kid. This not only helps the kids to acclimatize to the harsh realities of modern cosmopolitan world and also infuses confidence in them to diligently pursue their future endeavors.
I am sure the kids of udayan would carve a scintillating future for not only for themselves but for the society as a whole. Working with udayan care was an invigorating experience.
Udayan Care is doing tremendous work for the orphan and vulnerable kids. They are not just shaping their career but also the kind of love, affection and care they provide is great. I had done my 45 days intern-ship under this organization which was a great learning experience for me. They are very serious and organised in their work. I think kids would never realize that they don't have family if they have come in this organization. I like the way they are working and the seriousness that a NGO should be, it's impressive and appreciable.
I was volunteering with Udayan Care from february til april 2016.

Udayan Care is a well-organized NGO which gives children a real chance in life. They are well protected and all their needs are taken care off. Although they have a difficult start in life, now they can plan a exciting future.
We really appreciate the volunteering programme, this way the girls have contact with different cultures and diverse points of view and thus become more open minded.

I have worked with udayan care as an intern and enjoyed my work a lot, it was a very different experience for me as i got to meet many different kinds of children s and interacted with them , my main aim was to educate few of the kids in the home and prepare them for school,I loved the environment a lot, the staff, caregivers, mentor parent ,the people living in this home make the environment so family like where also the kids do not feel the absence of a family, the caregivers take care of the smallest of smallest needs of the children like any parent which is a very important factor.Overall i feel it is one of the best organisation where children have a family away from family.
"Don't Talk, Just Act. Don't Say, Just Show. Don't Promise, Just Prove" - Is what seems like Udayan's matra. Udayan has proved to me that if you really want to bring a change it just requires a genuine & consistent effort.
We all with our normal hectic life don't realize, (or worse) even if we realize we can't manage to devote time for less fortunate, specially kids who don't even have the right direction to lead a good life.
Udayan on other hand is committed to serving & caring for these kids & less fortunate. It is only after my few visits to the homes that I realized the intensity of Udayan's contribution to the society & got overwhelmed meeting the kids.
Each kid is being raised with so much of live that it reflects in their eyes, words & actions.
Udayan is an organisation which believes in genuine work & caring for kids the way we care for our kids. Kudos for the great contribution & amazing love & care to kids..!!
I was part of Udayan care for more than five weeks and it was an incredible journey and the project itself was very exciting wherein I got to interact with the kids a lot and was able to devolop a special kind of bond with them.It was a learning experience wherein I got to work on my communication skills as well learn new things related to my field .Really glad that I got connected to this organisation.
I worked with Udayan Care for a period of three weeks. In the course of the project, we interacted with the members at the Udayan Care office and I personally found all of them to be very approachable and helpful. We were sensitized towards the cause of the underprivileged students and were thus motivated to contribute our best to that effect. Overall, I had an enriching and fulfilling experience with Udayan Care and wish them the best in all their future endeavours.
I interned at Udayan Care for 3 weeks as part of curriculum. I started there with a lot of questions like what type of projects we would be assigned to. But, the best part i felt about this NGO is that they asked us about our background and interests before assigning the project. While working on the project we were in constant touch with the supervisors and they frequently checked our progress all the time. Also, whenever we needed any sort of help they were always ready to help even at odd hours. All the people at Udayan Care were very much helpful at all the time. To conclude, I would like to say that I really enjoyed working at Udayan Care and would definitely like to work for them and their cause in future as well.
It was a great experience worked with udayan care.I learn lots of things worked here as an intern.I worked for a period of one month. And I really enjoy during internship.I learn new things here.
Udayan care is doing very incredible job for kids and they make their future which is a very great thing. I hope it keeps growing further in future and keep working like this for the betterment of society.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity
It was a great experience working with Udayan Care. The program was structured and the deliverables were clearly identified and communicated with us. The mentors were fully cooperative and willing to answer all queries.
I was involved with Udayan Care for a period of 3 weeks as a volunteer. This has been an enriching experience for me. Udayan Care helped me to sensitize on various aspects of child care and the hardships these children have faced in their lives. I got an opportunity to work with the office and the thought that my contribution will be able to make a positive impact on children indirectly was the best feeling I am taking back with me.
The employees as well as the coordinators were very supportive during the entire course of the NGO. The project which was allotted to me was a real life problem and there was a real time learning involved. Greatly cherish the experience at Udayan Care.
I had a 3 weeks internship at Udayan and my experience has been an enriching one. The support from the employees and our mentor helped us complete our project successfully . The project assigned to us helped us learn a lot about Udayan, about the activities , how it is managed , and how the children are being able to live their dreams with the help from Udayan. I would not only like to work again in the future with Udayan but i would encourage others as well and help in the noble cause.
I interned at Udayan Care as a part of my curriculum. Even though the internship was a compulsion, I really enjoyed my stay there. The project given to me was very much interesting. Another interesting fact was that they keep in mind your qualification and also the current course you are studying before allocating any project. The mentors were very supportive in all the projects and were ready to help at any given time. We were given constant feedback about the project work as a result of continuous meetings with the supervisors. I would like to work again in the future with Udayan Care so that I can contribute to the cause which Udayan Care is taking care of.
Udayan Care is a great NGO to work with. Interning at Udayan Care was an enriching experience with great colleagues all around. The support that I received from the people at Udayan Care and the professionalism in all work that they do is unparalleled.
Look forward to associating with Udayan again in the future!
Udayan Care experience has been quite amazing, the discussions in conference room and over coffee have been amazing. To get to know how much it goes in to make an NGO work is immense.
Kiran Modi and other staff was quite helpful, I would like to stay connected and help in whichever way i can.
dayan Care has been a place that has been a place that has really been caring. The three week long journey has really been great and exciting. The strategy discussions over tea in the morning or over coffee in the evening have been really great and have proved quite fruitful and helped chalk out strategy that have been greatly helpful both in project completion or in moving ahead in going towards completing of its goal be it in small baby steps. The short stay here has really been great and helped me get an insight what actually it is to help out those in need and the happiness you get by doing so. The experience here will always be a unforgettable one and would love to work again here in future whenever I get a chance to do so
My journey with Udayan Care was really nice as it was my very first time that i started working with any NGO. I experienced lots of things and i found it a nice platform to show my skills and help others. My colleagues were also nice, helpful, and they were really co-operating in every situation. working with Udayan was a different experience. I would love to work with Udayan Care in my future also. I not only showed my skills but i also got to learn many more new thongs which will help me in my future as well.
I volunteered at Udayan Care during my summer vacations and got a chance to spend time with the children at the Ghar. It was an enriching experience, one that I will always hold close to my heart. I even tutored them and it felt amazing to be able to help them even if its in a small way. The friendly and competent staff made the entire experience better. One of the most well managed NGO!
It was nice experience working with Udayan Care , I was placed in shelter home of noida.I learnt how to conduct life skill activities and workshops but also to get children's interest and enhance their participation in the activities.
I always said I want to get to know India, but just by travelling you can't get to know a country and the culture. And I realized that's absolutely true! I learned much more about me and about India in two months here then I would learn in 10years at home in Germany. There have been many situations where I had doubts about myself but in anyway I also survived in these situations ;)
I am from Colombia and I was a Volunteer for Udayan Care. I have to say I was a wonderful and enriching experience for my personal as well as professional life.
This is an experience that I will never forget! I worked in a pleasant work environment and with very lovely boys. I realized your organization is very serious and reputable.
Thanks for the opportunity to join with you!
Miss you!
I joined Udayan Care for volunteering .Udayan care provided me with an opportunity to make an impact on someone's life and I have never felt so good before. It was a life changing experience for me. Thanks to Udayan Care for the amazing opportunity! They're doing great work.
I candidly want to briefly explain the positivity that a volunteer feels working at this non profit, who gets a chance to teach the financially deprived children. I am really thankful to Udayan Care, which gave me a chance to teach these children which I really wanted to as a part of Community work. It was really an exciting 2 months experience for me. How much enthusiastic a volunteer may feel working at Udayan Care is no more explainable.
Working at Udayan Care was fun, learning, enriching and eye opening. It helped me realize how I can in my own way help people, which feels pretty awesome.
It was a nice experience working here. Though the credit requirement was the first motivation to join, but doing the work and helping someone was also something that motivated me.
Thanks to Udayan for such a great Opportunity!
My internship experience at Udayan Care was awesome!! It was my first time working as an internship and was quite nervous at first, but the very calm environment at the workplace and the very friendly staff helped me a lot in getting used to work. Our supervisor, Ms.Shradha and Ms.Prachi have always helped me whenever I had doubts and they wre both really helpful and caring, I could enjoy my work with their support!!
In addition, the workplace atmosphere was awesome! We harmoniously work together and have always enjoyed our conversation. Since, my birthday was on one of the working days, the interns opened a mini party for me. One of them baked a cake for me and the other one got cookie for me and it was amazingly fun. I think this explains how close our realtion is.
One thing that I got really surprised after comign to this organisation is that, Whenever had imagined an under privledged child, I mean no offence but I used to think of sad and lonely kids. However, when I went to the home (orphanage), all the kids were very very friendly and all the kids there were enjoying their lives there spending time with the other kids who are like families. That surprised me a lot.
I would definitely want to come back to this organisation as an intern sometime soon, at the same time wondering and wishing to do something new in a differnt organisation. However, I will definitely insist people to coome to the organisation as I think it is going to be very useful and a meaningful experience.
Thank you very much Udayan Care!!
Being associated with an organisation like Udayan Care for duration of four months was a pleasant experience. What followed in the coming few months was the time that not only enriched the knowledge base but also gave an opportunity to understand the world of children who are in need of care and protection. Udayan care is working passionately for providing these children a safe environment with a fulfilling future. Children are prepared to be blossomed into independent beings who can adapt and live in this world happily and confidently. I hope they continue with the same zeal.
I was placed at Udayan Care as a part of the field work requirements of the course I was pursuing from NIPCCD called the Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counseling. I was working at the Udayan Ghar at New Manglapuri for a period of approximately 4 months. During this time along with fulfilling the requirements of the placements I was exposed to new experiences. Interacting with the children of the home made me understand the needs of children in need of care and protecion. In addition I also learnt that given the right support and care, children have an immense inner strength which helps them become survivors. The model followed by this organisation is unique and I experienced the impact first hand. Providing a family environment to these children is truly beneficial to their positive development both mentally, socially and physically.
The staff of the home where I was placed was cooperative and provided the support wherever I needed it.
It has been an enriching experience for me and I wish the organisation and specially all the children a bright future.
With Udayan Care it has been love at first sight. I decided to do an internship of 10 weeks at Udayan Care as part of my University course. This decision was one of the best in my life. From the first day I felt welcomed by all the members of the staff of Udayan Care as they were a family. I worked on a research project about foster care practises in India and other countris and so I gained a deep knowledge about child protection that will be very useful for my future career. To whom is in doubt about coming to India to live a volunteering experience I would definitely suggest Udayan Care because it is a reliable, well organized and passionate organization!
Udayan Care gives you the possibility to work in a very well organized and structured NGO. I had the chance to add something to my professional experience through the office work with a little project related to my studies and to add something to my personal experience through the work with children. Udayan Care's staff is ready to listen to your aspirations and to use your capabilities for their and your improvement. It was a very good experience, including the nice relationship between colleagues and other volunteers, with whom you could share values and vision of life because we all decided to dedicate some of our time to disadvantaged people.
Working with Udayan Care in the home was one of the most amazing experience that I was so lucky to have in India. The children there are so lovely and some are really talented. Moreover, the coordinators and workers of Udayan Care were so helpful, which made it was easier for me to do my work properly. Thank you for this experience, thank you for everything.
Volunteering with Udayan Care this summer of 2015 was a life changing experience for me and I learnt so much from this experience as well. The atmosphere of Udayan Ghar for Boys Mayur Vihar Phase 1 was so friendly. I loved all the kids and I’ll surely miss them all so much. My experiences and the relationships I've made made me learn so much about myself. It helped me to look towards world in a different way by mentoring kids as their mentor didi. Udayan Care is more than an NGO and I am privileged to be part of this family. I hope to be back to India as soon as possible to reunite with awesome kids I worked with.
i was a volunteer at Udayan Care for the month of July,2015. every moment spent here was worth it and this place is like heaven for the under privileged children. the care homes they have are perfect in every sense and i don't think they are any less than a real family to the children. meaning of life is service and Udayan care is doing a great job for the children here with their various programs.
While working with udayan care i was able to implement my theoretical knowledge into the practical sense quite smoothly as the people associated with the organization tries to bring out the best in their employees and people associated with them.
The overall experience at udayan care boys home was pleasing and worth for my future.
My overall experience at udayan care was really amazing. People are very
Friendly and supportive. I want to appreciate the work of Interns/volunteer
Department. I was very much satisfied with the supervision and support of my
supervisor. Doing internship and participating in research project of udayan
care was my first time practical experience in the field of psychology. I loved
it.
It was pleasant experience for me. People in udayan care are very supportive.
They are very friendly and I didn’t hesitate to ask for anything to my
supervisor or any other person from volunteer department. I felt great working
with my supervisor who was there for help and support me in any difficulty. It
was overall a very healthy environment for me and I actually learned a lot by
working in udayan care with beautiful people. And children at home are very smart and cooperative. i
enjoyed working with udayan care.
Udayan care foundation made my first experience of working with an ngo truly unforgettable and gave me the confidence to further work for the underprivileged. It helped me in gaining a rich experience and i feel privileged to be a part of the organization where i got to inculcate varies things not only from the mentors but also the children. I would like to sincerely thank udayan care for the wonderful experience.
I worked in Udayan for a period of one month as Volunteer, where I was a part of a Need Assessment Survey conducted in the slums of North Delhi. The Experience, to put in a nutshell, was life altering. Udayan care made me realize the unexplored dearth of potential in the community as well as me. I'm glad of the opportunity and hopefully, this will be a long association.
I started working in the IT Department as a data analyst to filter the data. Later on I created Google Forms for the organization so as to lesser the burden on the HR Department in the future run. In all I learnt about working with the upcoming future trends of computer that will help me later in life! :)
I worked at Udayan Care as an intern for a period of approximately four weeks. The volunteer department makes an effort in ensuring that the experience of the volunteer at hand is memorable. During my stay I came across interns who ranged from school going students to students pursuing their Master's degree. Having said that it should be brought to light that every intern was valued and treated with equal respect. In my opinion it is this quality of this institution that is fairly uncommon if not rare.
My third internship at Udayan Care was another sweet & memorable experience. I chose to work with Udayan again was not only because of the conducive working environment but also the love & affection from the children at the Udayan Ghars. I started my third time stay at Udayan Care by volunteering at the Ghars. Seeing the happy faces of the children made my day. This encouraged me to spend the entire day with them helping out in their holidays' homework & creating sweet memories. After that I started interning at the office whereby I was allotted a research project on creating workshops on the developmental goal "Safety". This required background study from Psychology & Sociology which greatly interest me. I was able to complete the research in my 3 weeks of stay. The overall experience encourages me to work with Udayan Care again & do my bit to serve the great purpose it is fulfilling.
Working with UC gave me an opportunity to work in the social field and volunteer my time with the Udayan children and be more proactive in life. It helped me be more responsible as a person and what they are doing as a organization, helping children, youth and women is amazing. Let's hope they grow more and be successful in their field.
This was my first internship and it was quite a good learning experience to work in an office and with children. I got to learn about how a research is conducted and what all it takes for a successful research project. Through the audit work, I came to know about all the homes and the children living in the homes, how they live and taken care of, what all opportunities they get and how their registers are maintained on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
My overall experience was good and it was a new learning experience.
I was associated with Udayan Care as an intern for one month . It was an enriching experience working here. My project was to develop communication research material for Need assessment of urban slum community , staff members are very cooperative and supportive , they helped me to accomplish my tasks successfully . i also visited child home and had a very nice experience interacting with girls there . I am very Thankful to this organisation for giving me this opportunity.
It has been a great learning experience. The organisation is very co-operative. It was a very warm feeling working with Udayan Care.
I was with Udayan Care with a month and a half and volunteered at one of their orphanages, and I feel that it has helped me to grow as a better person and a more compassionate human being. Udayan Care is doing an amazing job by uplifting underprivileged children and providing them with numerous opportunities to shine and do well for themselves.
I had a great experience working with Udayan Care.I interned in this organisation for a month.Got to learn a lot.Working in a such a environment was a very good experience. All the interns and the staff members were really helpful and cooperative. The project given to me will surely be helpful in future. The organisation is really very good and motivates all the volunteers to work hard.I had a great time at Udayn ghars with the lovely kids .Udayan Care is taking a good care of all the children residing in Udayan ghars. Would love to work with the organisation in future.
As interning for the first time, i had high hopes that I'd learn many things from this organization. The fellow inters took their inspiration from the office workers from their high level of work and due diligence. The visit to Udayan Ghar was an experience of its own, the children taught me so much considering the fact that I went there to teach them something.
I had a really nice experience at Udayan Care. I interned here for a month and i enjoyed my work. Working in an office environment was a great thing. I also visited Udayan Ghars and spend time with the kids, interacted with them and helped them with their studies. My one month went with a lot of learning, lot of hard work, lot of experiences. I had a good time and I'm taking back lots from here.
I worked with Udayan care as an intern. First time i did any internship or worked in any office. Udayan care is a great ngo and people are so much helpfull. Udayan care is doing a great work for hundreds of children . At udayan care i spent a great time. I am thankfull to udayan care for giving me such opportunity.
I have been associated with Udayan Care (UC) for about 2 years now. My journey with UC started with me as a (volunteer) maths tutor for 4 middle school children at UC's Noida home, and I am deeply honoured to say that, today I serve on the Advisory Board of UC. Currently, I actively focus on spearheading UC's all foster-care related advocacy initiatives besides helping build UC's corporate partnerships and fund-raising and allocation strategy. My long and continuous involvement at UC wouldn't be possible if it weren't for the super collaborative, loving and caring culture at UC office. A special mention must be given to the constant appreciation, acknowledgement and motivation by UC's managing trustee, Dr. Modi. At UC, I have had the unique opportunity to work closely with the most diverse set of interns/volunteers: be it the country or continent they hail from, their ethnicity or colour, their age or the major at school that they pursue. Something about UC and its people fortifies my bond with this organisation by the day. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Volunteer Department (Ms. Indrani specifically), because of whom I got involved with UC, and the fund Raising Department (Ms. Sohini), with whom I first worked on the corporate side. I would strongly recommend everyone to come and experience the culture and the cause of Udayan Care and spend a few weeks/months here helping the community in some capacity.
It was a great experience worked with udayan care.I learn lots of things worked here as an intern.I worked for a period of one month. And I really enjoy during internship.I learn new things here.
Udayan care is doing very incredible job. They make their future, and I appreciate.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity for work.
I worked as a volunteer at the Udayan Care office and I learned a lot.. I loved the experience of actually working in an office for the first time and it was amazing. I joined Udayan Care as a compulsion from school to work for 40 hours as community service and i really enjoyed it.
I came to Udayan Care for a project from my school, which was to serve a community. However, I loved working even in the office, though I really really wished to work with the girls. My main aim and my wish was to work with the children, but I really don't regret staying and working in the office, even if it was only for 5 days. This place is great, and the people are extremely good here. This organization has the sweetest and the most cheerful and amiable people. The work atmosphere in itself is so lovely, that you yourself would be willing to be here and work here. I had an amazing time, and I surely will come back next year, but this time, I'd work in the Ghar most definitely.
I am a 21 year old student of management at IIM, Indore and I spent 6 weeks at Udayan. First and foremost, what I noticed most and loved about the organisation during my time there was the work environment. Every single volunteer/intern as well as staff member is extremely motivated and driven. Everybody is extremely happy and satisfied with their job because they know that everyday, their work is positively impacting and shaping lives of many. No matter who you talk to, you'll always be greeted with a smile. There is a very clear cut work division and there are designated people doing specialized work. I really liked the efficiency and motivation with which Udayan functions. I couldn't help but absorb the same qualities while working there. It was also an extremely enriching experience which involved interacting with little kids at the Ghars, interacting with other volunteers from various backgrounds and parts of the country, attending the presentations of other volunteers and benefitting from their experience and knowledge, creating a specialized fellowship model from scratch along with my colleagues and presenting the same to the volunteers and the trustees, attending workshops and meetings etc. It was a memorable experience and I will cherish the time that I spent in this beautiful organization and the amazing people that I met there. To conclude, I'll say that there's a great sense of satisfaction associated with working in an organization of this sort because one can be sure that they will allocate work to you in a way that you end up doing something useful, impacting and important everyday and I don't know about everybody else but knowing that I have done something so satisfying for me, helps me believe in myself and I can go to sleep every night knowing that today I am a better and more enriched person then I was yesterday. Keep it up Udayan and continue the great work.
The experience I gained by working in Udayan Care is life changing for me. Not only I learned how to work in an office environment but also these small children inspired me a lot. Seeing them full of confidence and determination will work as a catalyst for me in achieving my own goals. i will miss working here :"(
I have learned a lot of things working here as a volunteer. I felt really nice by acting as a helping hand to Udayan Care and contributing something for the betterment of these kids. This organization takes absolutely proper care of the kids living in Udayan Ghars and fulfill their small and big needs and the mentors really play the role of parents to them.
As someone has rightly said that true meaning of happiness is not what you can do for yourself it is about what you can do for others to bring happiness into their lives. This is the mantra that is being followed by Udayan Care since its inception. My tenure with Udayan Care was one of the most memorable time I had spent for social cause till now. I was fascinated and motivated looking at the way the staff members of this NGO work .They put their heart, mind and soul into even the smallest acts and I guess this is the major reason for the success of this NGO. It was a pleasure for me to help and support the technical training programs of this NGO. I hope this NGO to cherish each and every day and make an impact on the society by touching many lives.
I worked at Udayan Care as a volunteer to tutor some of the children there and in that short while, I came to have one of the best learning experiences ever. As a 14 yr old girl just learning about the different aspects of society - the privileged and the unprivileged people, I was amazed to see Udayan care take in orphans, and neglected children and give them a home, a family, a sense of belonging, along with a way of nurturing each child's individuality. All in all this was something I could never forget and I encourage all to visit and take time to get to know these strong, wonderful children.
I never really had high regard for NGOs until I started working as a volunteer for this NGO – Udayan Care. I was always under this impression that they are just meant for making money. I had been skeptical about how things really work here and how authentic people associated with NGOs are. Integrity is of utmost importance when it comes to working for a social cause. You really have to set the common cause ahead of your personal goals. This is no easy task. Only those who really feel for the unfortunate souls can actually stay committed.
People keep getting calls for donations and I wonder how many calls are actually entertained, especially in a country like India where people feel they never have enough. We must admit that we are very self centered. We like to stay in this illusionary world where we tend to believe that nothing unfortunate will ever happen to us. Only when we go through any ordeal we are able to empathize with the less fortunate children these NGOs cater too. And we still have our family and friends to support us, these children have no one.
But it’s not the common man’s fault entirely as this perception of such organization being fake is deeply rooted in their mind and thus these inhibitions to donate or work for the less privileged people are not difficult to fathom. One has to wonder how much of their donation is actually going to the people it is meant for and that is the real challenge here.
If one really wants to know how things are in its true sense then one should consider doing some sort of volunteer work as that is the key to know the nitty-gritty of this world of serving the humanity. I am fortunate to have this opportunity to work for an NGO which truly believes in serving the society and putting all the effort possible to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children who are not as fortunate as we are. Every kid has his/her own heart wrenching story. Some are abandoned, some are physically exploited, some are subjected to child labor and the list goes on. One has to be really sensitive while interacting with these children staying conscious about not reminding them of their dreaded past. They are traumatized, shattered and have no hope whatsoever. It’s really difficult to get them back on track and the efforts put in by Udayan Care are really commendable.
I also got a chance to see the organizational aspect of Udayan care. Different verticals like HR, finance, fund raising, social media marketing working in sync is very important for any organization but the difference in an NGO is the passion with which the people work here. Serving humanity is the ultimate objective of every person here and that is the driving force which sets an NGO apart. I am overwhelmed to see people working with such dedication and I believe that if each one of us does their bit for the society there wouldn’t be any person deprived of at least the basic necessities.
I am thankful to School of Inspired leadership (SOIL) for getting me connected to such a wonderful NGO and I hope that other B schools also take such initiatives, creating a wider volunteer base and sensitization towards such dire issues.
It was a great experience working with Udayan care as an intern. I worked for a period of 1 month
The work environment is very professional, however at the same time very homely. Autonomy was provided in work. We could explore adopt approach to work that suited us
It was extremely encouraging that constant review of work was done and suggestions/insights were shared
Level of professionalism exhibited by the employees of Udayan Care is very high. Udayan Care staff members are motivated, energetic and willing to give their best. Apart from the employees, Ms. Kiran Modi (Managing Trustee) is tirelessly working and contributing to society which is extremely encouraging
I thank them for the opportunity that was provided to me and it is certainly the best NGO that I've worked in so far
It was a great experience working with Udayan care as an intern. Though it was just one day a week for a continuous period of ten months but it was great to work with staff members and be a part of Udayan family. I also got the chance to interact with children of different homes and conducted many activities as well. It was my first experience working with an NGO and I really want to thank my college and Udayan care for giving me this wonderful opportunity and to make me experience the value of making a person smile and supporting others in need.
I joined Udayan Care for a period of a little more than two months, for two days a week. My placement duration was quite short, but I quite enjoyed the experience of working in the head office. Udayan Care is no doubt sincere in its efforts to help children, and it was an honour to be placed here, no matter how short-lived. I hope in future I will be able to return and help out for a longer period.
I worked for Udayan Care for a period of three weeks as a volunteer. It is very hard to comment about an organization after working for a duration as short as mine but I can easily claim that Udayan Care is one of those very few NGOs which are dedicated to their cause and are always looking for the opportunities to grow bigger and stronger. The dearth of resources is not a hindrance for them at all. The dedicated staff working here under an inspired founder not only fulfills the goals of the organization but also creates a memory for those associated with them indirectly.
I interned at udayan care in feb-2015. It is a good experience for me, the management and the whole team are a very motivated group of individuals. During my short stint of just 3 weeks I could see how deeply the entire team related with the children and their welfare. udayan care is the light at the end of the tunnel for the underprivileged, lost and usually ignored young children, giving them a hope for a better future.
It is really nice to work in here because they not only give you valuable experiences but also widen your knowledge about the children and women in India. The people at the office are really nice and supportive, they will never give you pressure on your work. And the best thing ever during my internship here in when I got to meet the kids, who will always hugged me and called me 'Didi' whenever I came to their place. For me, they are just too lovely to be true
Thanks for the opportunity to work with you. You were very receptive and I liked working with you. The kids at the homes are lovely! You do an amazing thing helping the kids and women. I can not put in words the experience I gained and how happy I was by seeing the NGO in action and the life changes you provide and being a part of it.
I Joined Udayan Care for 3 Month intern any it was a pleasant experience working there. It was like family working together for a good cause. Udayan Care is working for the needy childs and provide them all the facility needed. They have good team and supportive staff.
Neha Singh
An NGO very active in nurturing Orphan Kids and granting scholarships to needy female child. They are a very active team doing great work. All the best to them
Interning with Udayan Care was an incredible experience that I will hold valuable and remember fondly for the rest of my life. I was able to design a project that was relevant to my field of study, which made the internship particularly beneficial to my career development. When I interned with Udayan, I was in the process of obtaining a BSc. in Environmental Science. After discussing what I could contribute with my supervisor (Shradha), we decided I should develop an Environmental Science handbook for Udayan Care.
In addition to working on the handbook, I spent time with 13 girls that were living together in an Udayan Care home. Getting to know these incredible young ladies was definitely the highlight of my time with Udayan Care. I have kept in touch with the girls, and I recently had the opportunity to return to Delhi to visit them, which was wonderful.
Another benefit of my time with Udayan Care was the exposure I got to life in India. Delhi was a fascinating city to live in.
I highly recommend getting involved with Udayan Care. They are dedicated to making volunteers have a meaningful and fulfilling experience, and allows one to see what it takes for a social development NGO to be successful. No matter what your field of study/interest, you can make a significant contribution to Udayan Care's efforts if you are dedicated.
I worked at Udayan Care as an intern for a month. It was a wonderful experience. All the staff members were very helpful and I had a nice time with them all. My work was explained in a nice manner and I enjoyed my work.I had research work so I went to all the homes and there I met many children . I went to girls as well as the boys home.I had a great time with them all . I tried my if I was able to help them. The children share many things with me .It was a good experience. I am happy that I was able to spend my time with these children and all this was possible because of Udayan Care. Thanks to Udayan Care.I got to know the hard work this NGO is doing towards these children who actually need the support and Udayan Care is really doing a wonderful job for them.I am happy that I got a chance to be a part of it and was to able to work with them.
i have worked with Udayan Care as an intern. Frankly speaking i'am clad that I got the opportunity to be a part of Udayan Care.on my first day i was really scared as hell as it was my first internship but people in here were very friendly and I had an awesome experience. Children of different homes will give you a warm hug and welcomes you as you are there family. Kids are way too smart and obedient and friendly as well. My overall experience was delightful. Thank you Udayan Care for allowing me to be a part of this wonderful family.
I worked at Udayan Care as an intern for three weeks. The experience was amazing!! I learnt many new skills here. I had some very memorable moments with the children. At the Office, where I worked till the afternoons, everyone was helpful. The work environment was a very cheerful one!! In the afternoons, I used to visit the children of Sant Nagar Home. The girls used to be all smiling and spread their smiles all around!! They kept everyone very happy!
I thank everyone for making internship such an amazing one!!
I have been volunteering at Udayan Care for 3 weeks which had been full of emotions and new things to learn. As a foreigner, the whole team in Udayan helped me to fell at ease and comfortable in this new environment. I was working in the HeadQuarter during the day and spending time with the children during the evenings. I learned a lot by being in touch with everyone. Working in Udayan is meaningful and since all the people are trying to help you and guide you through your work you fell useful and good. Even if the differents programs are efficient, te organization tries to improve them all along and that's why it is a so rewarded NGO. I really enjoyed the time I spend there and I want to thank again all the Udayan Care family for the support and for giving me the chance to help!
THANK YOU
I worked as a volunteer in one of the most experienced and prestigious organization ‘Udayan Care’ for about 4 weeks where I shouldn’t say I worked rather I lived there with the small, young and ambitious children in their sweet little cozy homes. Udayan Care is providing a great platform to the vulnerable children and youth to come up and live their lives. Udayan Care is providing home for every orphaned children, an opportunity for higher education for every girl and adult and help them realize their potential to stand on their feet different from crowd. In the homes of Udayan Care I made a strong bond with the children as well as the caretakers. Caretakers are the mothers to all the children, taking care of their each and every needs, taking them for the regular check-up to the doctor and fulfilling all their basic needs. All children are so lovey and dovey where we talked, danced and did all crazy stuffs together. This organization provided me a different vision of life and helped me to learn the value of family, love in our lives and the meaning of passion and struggle with which the whole Udayan Care team is working. My heartfelt gratitude to the whole team of Udayan Care who treated me as their child and helped me at every moment. Working with Udayan Care proved me a huge learning curve and created a new passion, enthusiasm and a positive wave in me.
I was working for Udayan Care as a volunteer for 8 weeks. However, I would not call it working since it was a fun and a most influencing time for me. Since I was actually living with the children in the home, I got to experience not only their daily routine but also the true Indian lifestyle in a way that is unique. I am still overwhelmed by the kindness and suave manner the people I was working with were showing towards me. However the main focus was obviously on the children and no one could ever describe the Impact on a person of such an experience. You simply have to experience it yourself. Even though the first couple of days were very hard for me and I was suffering of the typical culture shock with all its symptoms, holding onto my task and dream turned out to be more than worth it after all.The children helped me so much in growing as a person and becoming aware of the significance of helping the unlucky ones.
I am very thankful to got the Chance to be part of such an impressive organization as you can notice Udayan Care is exclusively focusing on the wellbeing of These children. Saying goodbye to them became a heartbreaking act to me.
Working with Udayancare as a volunteer for 6 weeks, gave me a lot to learn and to remember as well, its a rich experience full of fun, improving skills and learn more about everything you work on. like i learned about how the NGO works and what they do exactly and how they do it, also improved my English and Arbaic when i translated some documents, in fact they helped me more than i did, They are more like friends than managers, they even helped me to organize my holidays and alot more stuff in Delhi . the children are so nice and respectful, we studied, played, sang, danced, paint, read books, decorate and celebrated birthdays and festivals together. i dont think if i ever worked in any other place i would have had this amazing experience. I'm really grateful that i worked with them that changed alot in my life for better grown up independent woman.
I’m back form my Indian experience an already processing all of the things I’ve learned.
Being an intern, I not only had the chance to spend time with the kids but also I could directly influence the company with my work at the office.
Before joining the organization, my expectations were more centred around the children and the activities I could do with them, being a little bit less excited about having to “work” seated in the head office. That’s the reason why the first day arrived I couldn’t be more surprised when I saw my future working place crowded by international boys and girls, all there to intern like me and literally representing each continent of the planet.
Form then on, having to wake up in the morning to reach the office has never been a burden. Actually, I felt kind of en eagerness to reach such a cosy place, my Russian-French-American-(…) teammates, my supervisor and all of the employees that showed such a great availability.
I have been working for 5 weeks in Udayan Care. During these 5 weeks (4/08/2014-4/09/2014) I have done a lot not only working with children, but also at the office. The collaboration with Udayan Care has opened to me many new doors and perspectives and I do not regret the time I have spent there. Hope that they have appreciated my presence, too, and that I will continue the collaboration with them one day. Thank you very much for such an unforgettable experience!
Working with Udayan Care as an intern and volunteer over the past 6 weeks has been an incredibly rewarding and enriching experience, thanks in no small part to the friendly fellow interns, helpful supervisors, and of course, the wonderful welcoming children at the homes. I had the opportunity to work with and teach children, which is one of my passions, and also gain a better understanding of how NGOs operate through my time in the office. I would recommend this organization to anyone who is remotely interested in the field of social work or is looking for a meaningful way to spend a break.
What a honour it was to work with the children and the staff at Udayan Care. This is truly an agency that is visionary and progressive in serving the needs of the most vulnerable to see children empowered to fulfill their full potential. The insight, resilience and hope that is present in each of the children I had the pleasure to work with will be a motivator for community wide change. Continue to believe in your vision and hold fast to the courageous and meaningful work that is being done in individuals as well as for greater realms of society. I will always hold closely my experience with Udayan Care.
What a great experience with Udayan!!!. I came with a perception of gaining from field work. But to my outmost surprise, Udayan has given me more than I had expected. My notion and looking at the world has been greatly metamorphosed. Seeing the satisfaction and happiness on these young faces at Mayur Vihar 1, has inspired me to be happy and content with myself. It has been a pleasure working with Udayan. The one month I spent with Udayan has really been fruitful. I hope to stay in touch with the NGO and help them with as much as i can. Thanks to the Volunteer department and the entire Udayan administration for their support.
it was my great pleasure to work with Udayan Care as an intern for almost two months. i have learned the importance to give back to the society and the happiness in helping others. i will always be very greatful to this organization for providing me this opportunity to gain experience in the field of organizational behaviour.
Working with Udayan has been a great delight. I came with a perspective of gaining exposure in field work and handling matters in the administrative level , and Udayan has given me more than I could ask for. My thinking and looking at the world has tranformed drastically , I am taking back with myself an emotion of gratitude towards what all I have. Seeing the satisfaction on these young soul's faces has been an eye opener for me. It was a pleasure working here , the one and a half months that I spent year were indeed fruitful. I hope to stay in touch with the NGO and help them with as much as i can. :)
Udayan Care is a NGO that regenerate the rhythm of life of the disadvantaged. The six weeks that i spent my time being a volunteer there, was the best time of my life. i was able to work not only at the office, but with this kids at one of the Udayan ghars (home).
At the head office i could collect some informations of those who help the organization with donations. Every person i met there was friendly and they made me fell home. I used to go everyday (monday to friday) to one of the homes, a house with 12 girls from 10 to 15 years old. Since the first day, i was completely in love with all of them, we had the best time ever, studying and also having fun.
What Udayan provides for this children in incredible and i will always be proud of myself for being part of this organization and thankful for what i learned with them.
I feel I had great fun working with the kids. Some of them were eager to learn, and a few were restless, but overall, all of them were very welcoming, interactive and friendly, so it was an amazing experience. The positive aspects, I believe, were that the place was not very far, and the kids lead very normal lives, like any of me and my family. They had school, homework, tuition, television, tennis classes, painting , dancing, singing, pretty much everything a middle class kid has, which made me glad that they were a part of this ghar and glad that I was a part of the volunteering programme with Udayan.
I have been an intern at Udayan Care for 3 months and it has been one of the most interesting and amazing experience i have ever had. I had the opportunity to work in the head office as well as in the children home.
I collected data of university and i maintained the correspondance with universities all over the word to increase the size of our volunteer program. The office environment is relaxed and familiar, collegues are friendly and always there if you need any kind of help.
i also worked with children, girls from 8 to 15 years old. The children made my India, as i always say. They are amazing, smart and i have learnt a lot about indian culture from them. I think that UC is doing a great work for these children, what i want to underline is that children do not live in an unique building as an orphanage but they have proper home. each home has 12 girls or boys , supervisors and mentor mothers that create a familiar atmosphere . Each home is a real family, the only difference is that each girl has 11 sisters. Supervisor and Mentor Mother are amazing and they excellently educate girls.
i am proud of being part of such a organization, i strongly recommend Udayan Care to everyone is interested in this kind of organization.
I really recommand Udayan Care to everybody who wants to work with children, do something useful and discover India at the same time. Volunteering for Udayan Care really changed my life. I am in my second year of master to become primary school teacher and my work at Udayan Care was divided into two: the morning I worked on networking with International Universities for the Head Office and I spent every afternoon in one of their home teaching the basis of English to the four youngest girls(3 to 7 years old). It was a big challenge because I do not speak Hindi and my little pupils obviously did not speak English but the magic part of it is that somehow with flashcards, drawing and acting we managed quite well. As a future primary school teacher, this experience gave me the opportunity to face a situation that, back home, every teacher is scared to face because he does not know how to do and do not really have the time to experiment because he has 20 other pupils to teach to. My strategy was to teach through games and it worked quite well. As I had really few material, it also gave me the opportunity to create mine and let express my own creativity. I am proud to say that my little pupils have reach quite a level for their age, especially the 3 years old one, and I received so much love back from them. I also took some times to get to know the 9 older girls of the home and I am also glad I did. They are so lively, cute and sweet. The two mentor mothers, the supervisor, the care-giver and the social worker of my home gave me a lot of support through my stay and I have to say that they do an amazing job: the girls really feel at home, they are well treated and they receive a lot of love. It was really hard for me to leave everyone and I definitely want to go back one day at least to say hello and spend some times with them.
My stay at Udayan Care which was related to the writing of my master thesis about plurilinguism and how other languages spoken by children can be included at school, participates to that amazing mark I have received for it: 20 over 20. Thank you Udayan Care
Volunteering at Udayan Care Greater Noida was such an experience! I wouldn't do it justice if I was to put it into words so suggest EVERYONE takes a visit there to see how much of an experience it is! From day 1 of arriving we were made us feel so welcome: it was like we were long lost family members. Udayan Care are doing a great job and I was so glad to be a part of their mission of creating a family home for those who have come from disadvantage backgrounds. The girls were so lovely and accommodating and really made me realise that sometimes giving your time and presence is better than donating your money.
I had such an amazing experience volunteering for the Udayan Care girls home in Greater Noida earlier this year. The sense of family and friendship was so evident as soon as we got there. The girls, Auntie and Uncle warmly welcomed us & made us feel right at home. We refurbished the dining room and tv room during the mornings and lead workshops with the girls later in the afternoon.
I was able to experience first hand the work that Udayan Care do, not only for their residents, but for the local community. Their work is truly life changing and they give young boys and girls a chance to succeed, to ensure their future is much better than their past.
I would recommend Udayan Care to anyone looking to volunteer in the future!
Udayan Care do some excellent work with the children that they home - providing shelter, food, an education and most importantly a sense of family! I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the home in Greater Noida, Delhi and look forward to visiting again. Mitul Lakhani
I visited the Greater Noida Home in Delhi, with a team of 6 members from asos.com we helped to refurbish their TV Room and the Dining area but we also ran workshops with the children. I was there for 10days..
My Experience at Udayan Care has truly been amazing! From all the refurbishment work to every single workshop carried out by all volunteers, it got better day by day. I have learnt so much in only 10 days and the entire experience has inspired me to continue working with local communities in london to really make a difference
The 10 days spent with Udayan Care and the Girls were the best 10 days of my life. It was a life changing experience, the love and respect we received from the girls was incredible. We hope they are enjoying their new refurbished TV and Dining room.
The work Udayan Care do is life changing, they give young boys and girls a chance in life, a chance to become something and a chance to decide their future.

EXCELLENT ORGANIZATION! In my search for an NGO based in Delhi to volunteer my time with I happened to stumble upon Udayan Care. I feel very fortunate for having found such a passionate and caring organization to volunteer with. Udayan has diverse rolls available to volunteers; ranging from being a mentor to children at a Udayan home (ghar) to advocacy work. There is no shortage of volunteer opportunities for one to help in Udayan Care’s mission of empowering India’s disadvantaged youth to realize their full potential by providing quality care and education to those in their care. Everyone I encountered during my time with Udayan was welcoming with open arms and passionate about Udayan Care’s mission. I was happy to learn during my orientation about Udayan’s commitment to transparency and accountability at all levels of the organization, and this becomes apparent during one’s volunteer period. I had the wonderful experience of being placed in the Gurgaon boy’s home to improve the children’s English. The mentor parents at the home, Mr. and Mrs. Ghosh, are two of the most wonderful people I have had the pleasure of knowing. The love and affection shared between everyone is immediately felt when you arrive at the home. It brings a smile to one’s heart when you see the impact Udayan Care’s work has on the orphaned and disadvantaged children of India. I could not recommend a better organization to volunteer one’s time with. You will be sad when your volunteer period is over, but you can take solace in knowing you contributed to a great organization and are now part of the Udayan Care family.
I did my internship with Udayan Care in January, 2014. Initially, I did not have much idea about the activities of the organization, but when I spoke to several people at the NGO, I was very inspired with the kind of dedication and commitment put by them in all activities of the organization. During the three week internship stint, we developed a case study on Udayan Care, covering several aspects of the organisation. I also had the opportunity to visit Udayan Ghars and interact with the kids and mentor mothers and I was very impressed by the entire Ghar model. The organization’s administration was extremely helpful and made us feel completely at home. I would like to thank them for the brilliant work they have been doing for the past 2 decades and hope they can keep this up for decades to come.
I interned with Udayan Care in the month of January, 2014. When I went to the NGO, I did not have a lot of idea about the functioning of the institute. But of the very first day, I was very impressed by the activities of the NGO and how it goes ahead to achieve its goals. During my three week stint, my team developed a case study on Udayan Care, covering several aspects of the organisation. The institute's administration was extremely helpful and made us feel completely at home. At the end of three weeks, I felt like my stay at the NGO had been really short and would have loved to continue my association with Udayan. Unfortunately, my hectic academic schedule does not allow that sort of freedom and I hope to associate with Udayan once I am in my professional life.
I had an incredibly enriching experience at Udayan Care. I learned about NGO and program management from some extremely dedicated people who work at the organization. I benefited from writing policy at the headquarter level, but I've also benefited largely from interacting with the wonderful children at the foster home.
Udayan Care, a child welfare NGO, is solely driven by the enthusiasm and the dedication of its employees. The trustees and employees of Udayan Care are passionately committed to serve the society and one can feel their dedication just by observing their daily routine. Despite facing several challenges like attrition of employees, procuring more funds etc, Udayan remains true to its purpose- to empower vulnerable children, women and youth. I had the opportunity to visit their Sant nagar and Mayur Vihar ghars, which offered conducive environment for the children to grow into successful human beings and the activities that were carried out ensured a great balance between their academic rigour and extra-curricular events. Interacting with some of the children like Lucky, who is the youngest member of the Sant Nagar home, made it quite evident that children felt safe and were enjoying their stay at Udayan thanks to the motherly love given by some of the mentors like Mrs Madhu Gupta. To sum up, the past 3 weeks at Udayan was a very enriching experience and hopefully my association with them continuous forever.
I was attached with Udayan Care for 3 weeks and during this time I have come to admire the organization greatly. The dedication and commitment of the people of this organisation is truly commendable. I have has the opportunity to visit children homes in other cities and locations but the Udayan Ghar model is by far the most thought out and amazingly well executed. Their importance on giving the children a home like environment to grow in is truly remarkable and you can clearly make out the difference interacting with the children.
Even the other programmes like the Udayan Shalini Fellowship programme is a great step in promoting education of girls/women and the results are very heartening with so many of the graduates of the programme doing so well after graduating from the programmes.
I wish all the success to the Udayan Team and would also like to thank them for the splendid work they have been doing for the past 2 decades and hope they can keep this up for decades to come.
A grass root organization working for providing care to abandoned children - that is what Udayan Care is all about. I was given an opportunity to work for Udayan Care and it was an amazing experience of understanding the challenges that a grassroots organization face. Udayan Care has a very unique model of group foster care which aims at providing quality life to these children among its various programs. What was truely wonderful was the passion and dedication for each everyone associated with Udayan towards the common goal.
I would definitely would like to be associated with Udayan Care in future in any capacity I can contribute.
I had a 3 week stint with Udayan Care in January,2014 as part of our b-school curriculum. This gave me a chance to understand the working of the different programmes run by Udayan Care. I was associated with the Udayan Ghar programme and the work i did was quite relevant with respect to our current curriculum. Albiet a short stint, yet i was awed to see the impact on lives of those underprivileged children, young girls being supported by Udayan. What was particularly impressive was the focus on high quality education and high quality of their programs, which is a big distinguishing factor. The role of mentor mothers and the unique group foster care model is their USP. Processes are also quite transparent in Udayan Care. Overall it was a very enriching experience.
I was associated with Udayan Care in Delhi for 3 weeks! This gave me a chance to understand the working of the different programs run by this organisation. I was awed to see the result on lives of those underprivileged children, young girls being supported by Udayan. What was particularly impressive was the focus on ensuring high quality of their programs, which is a big distinguishing factor.
Also, the mentoring provided to the young girls associated with their Shalini program, besides financial aid, is praiseworthy. Processes at Udayan care are carried out in a transparent manner, which goes a long way in keeping the faith of donors, volunteers and everyone associated with it, and attaches a high degree of credibility which I believe is its USP.
The two months I worked at Udayan Care as an intern will remain an unforgettable enriching grass root experience in the humanitarian field. During this short time, I learned so much personnally and professionnaly and now back in Europe, I can sincerely say this internship has changed my values and view of life. I deeply recommend Udayann Care for a first step in the NGO world. You will understand the various issues an NGO has to deal with ; how to raise funds and people's awareness, how to communicate about the projects and last but not least how to implement and evaluate them. Udayan Care is well organized and an exemple of best practises in this country.
When I came to India, I did not know what to expect, I was just wondering about my professional plans for the future. Interning at Udayan Care was eye-opener and it made me want to keep working in the social sector. I met amazing people who are completly dedicated to the children's well-being and bring about changes by working closely together. Sometimes it is not easy to adapt to the different way of living and working. You might face some personal problem or doubts about your work but you will always find someone helpful who will provide you with good advice and support. I really enjoyed the friendly and warm atmosphere at the office.
Sometimes I wondered whether I was useful for Udayan Care. I keep thinking my impact was really low due to my lack of experience but I quickly understood that everyone with creativity and new ideas can take an active part in Udayan Care work.
Thank you a ton for everything and I definitely hope to come back soon.
I had a great time volunteering with Udayan Care. I spent four weeks teaching English at the Gurgaon Ghar for boys. The children are wonderful and we had a lot of fun together - in the classroom, but also in the garden playing cricket or in the kitchen having dance parties! Also everybody in the office and Mama and Papa at the home is helpful, friendly and fantastic people devoting their time to help the children.
I worked at Udayan Care for a month as an intern and the experience was really great. It was a wonderful opportunity for me to work in an organisation which is so well organised and dedicated for helping the children in need of care. In such a short period of time I was able to learn so much academically as well as personally. My seniors were always there to help with all the issues that came up during my interning period.
Interning at Udayan Care was an enriching experience. The one month I worked here, I gained not only in the academic front, but also on the personal front. Interning at this place was an eye-opener. The work was intensive, yet inspiring. The seniors never failed to make me feel at home. It was a beautiful experience.
The two months I worked at Udayan Care as an intern in the office and as a volunteer in one of the homes have been a lifetime experience.
It was very interesting to get an impression of the structure of an NGO. Fundraising, communication, etc. - everything must be organized very well in order to help as many people as possible. And Udayan Care is well organized and Udayan Care helps many people. It is an inspiring working environment if you keep that in mind. Besides, everybody in the office is very helpful, warm and kind. You feel welcome all the time and whenever you have a problem - on a professional or personal level - you find immediately somebody who will help you with joy.
The work with the children could sometimes be frustrating due to the lack of visible improvement regarding the performance at school or the behaviour in general, but of course most of the time the work with the children was very moving, fulfilling and a lot of fun!! I spent wonderful moments with the children: either something "ordinary" like playing cards, going to the park, singing and dancing together or something special like playing soccer in the rain, organizing a fashion show and celebrating birthdays... at the beginning, it was not easy to build a deeper connection towards the children because it was the period of the exams, everybody was busy and there were a lot of other volunteers/tutors in the home but with a little bit of time and patience I maintained a really good and intense relationship with all the girls in the end which is also made possible by the small amount of girls who live in a home (in my case only 10!) - you really get to know everybody very well.
At the office, I had several assignments: in the first month I helped the communication team with various things such as writing short reports for the facebook site, checking the NGO's representation on other websites and sending a lot of mails. In the second month I started with my "own" project called "international volunteer program as a chance of cultural exchange" which included some sort of essay, two surveys and their examination. I worked independently and could follow my own way. It was very interesting as it represented my interests and as it was complementary to my strengths.
On a personal level, I sometimes wondered whether my help was needed elsewhere more and whether I was really useful at Udayan Care because it is so well organized and because there are so many volunteers (which is actually a really really good thing!!). That occupied me a lot and even if I could for example see the impact I made on the children, still the question stayed in my mind.
BUT (or apart of that) Udayan Care is the perfect NGO to make first experiences with a big variety of things (there are so many programs Udayan Care has and you can work on, you can work in the office and interact with the children...) and to get the best impressions of NGO work.
I think nobody would regret to choose Udayan Care.
My time with Udayan Care was intensive and inspiring. Working as an Intern at the office as well as a Volunteer in one of the homes for orphaned and abandoned children was pretty challenging but amazing. On the professional side I learned a lot about non-profit management as well as the conception and implementation of projects. I really enjoyed the possibility to bring in one's own ideas and creativity. Your ideas are respected and taken seriously and while you are still learning, you are still invited to take an active part. During the ten weeks of my stay, I got to get an overview over the different projects run by Udayan Care and to balance practical experiences with the work at the office. Coming from a country like Germany it took some time and energy to adjust to the different living and working conditions, but it was worth the effort as I received so may things in return. Sometimes you might face frustrating situations due to cultural differences as well as to every day life in an organization, but as everyone is so supportive and easy-going this has never been a real problem for me. On the personal level, i was amazed by the friendly and personal tone and contact between everyone working at the office. When I came to India, I did not really now what to expect, i just wanted to gain some experience working in the social sector. My stay with this organization, showed me that this is the work, I want to be doing and how people working together can make some change. Thank you for everything, I hope to be back soon.
It was a wonderful experience to stay with Udayan Care in India. I made an internship of 8 weeks. Besides working in the offices I lived together with the children of one house and worked with the children of another house.
In the office I had my own project was I was working on. If I had questions there was always a person to ask for help or for getting a feedback. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Each person is friendly and helpful. Sometimes it was difficult to make clear arrangements with some persons.
The office is located near a metro station, so it is also easy to get there.
The work and living in the house was a great and extremely deeply experience. Of course it was not always easy but all in all the children appreciate the presence of international volunteers. I helped them with their homework and stuff for school, played with them and served as a friend or person of trust. The other people were also always so friendly and warm-hearted. By living in the houses it is difficult to get along with the food. I needed a lot of time to get used to it. The staying with the children gave me unique impressions about the Indian culture and helped me also to learn more about me and my values in live. So I can recommend this experience although it is not always easy to everyone who wants besides helping these children extend his or her experiences and wants to reflect his or her way of live.
It was great experience for me to work in India. At first, it was difficult for me to get into the different environment, because oh the difference of language and culture. But as time passed, I had been used to that difference and enjoyed it. The most remineded and challengiable experience was working with Europeans, canadian and indian with English. There were many problems but through sorting out each program, I have been attached some new ideas. Thank you
My experience at Udayan Care has been fantastic. At the beginning it was not easy to settle into a completely different country from Italy, but after two months I can say I had a great time and I would be ready to do the same choices.
The other volunteers and colleagues were very helpful and always very kind to me.
I spend ten days in the Noida Boys Home and it was a great experience, I played with the children and I explain them the origin of my country and some history of this.
Udayan Care is very well integrated in local territory and a lot of people know this reality.
I hope to collaborate again with Udayan Care.
The 2 weeks that changed my outlook on life- working with children is really something different and the way that Udayan Care works to nurture, educate and love these precious beings is highly commendable. I wish I could transmit to everybody the warmth and purity that the people (including other volunteers, staff members) and children of Udayan Care shared with me. Although I wish my stay was longer so that I could laugh more, learn more and most of all give more0 I wouldn't exchange my experience for anything in the world. At Udayan Care, the greatest lesson that I learnt was the importance of love and companionship that the children of Sant Nagar endowed me with. The girls lived together in such a harmonious way, forgetting all their problems and coming together as a family (if not more) to form a bond that is so precious. It was here, at Udayan Care, that I made life-long bonds and friendships with some of the girls. So thank you with each teeny tiny fibre of my soul, for giving me the opportunity to learn from these beautiful children as they grow to be the future of India. Also, know that my heart has a little spot all decked out for each one of the children and I can't wait to be back! I try and keep in touch with some of the girls who have facebook and I ALWAYS recommend Udayan Care as a volunteer program to all my friends here in Melbourne. I will be back and this time for longer.
All my love,
to the Udayan Care team
Since the last 11 months I work for Udayan Care, which is a very well organized organization.
The staff members are very heartly and courteous whereby my work was very convenient, as they helped me directly when any problems occured.
Compared to other NGO's in India, Udayan Care has a certain structure, which is the needed base of an organization in this dimension.
My work here as a graphic designer was very inspiring as I had very often the possibility to put my own creativity into the works. This free and relaxed working conditions are what a volunteer appreciates and needs.
I worked also with the boys from Noida Boys Home, who are very lovely children . I loved to interact with them und to change experiences and intercultural knowledge. These boys are very smart und polite und brought me very close to the indian culture, even if they're compared to other people in Delhi/NCR very modern.
One of my highlights in the last 11 months was the summer camp , which happened in May. All children from the homes got together and we, the international volunteers, held workshops, where the children have been able to participate. It was very exhausting but one of the best experiences during my whole stay in India.
Join Udayan Care! I promise, you won't regret ;)
Three years (2010), I spent the summer after my sophomore year with Udayan Care. I was connected through the International Internship Office at my university, Princeton. The first week of my 2-month stay was very challenging and it took some time to get used the heat, the new language and just that general feeling of not always understanding what was going on. But by the end of my 8 weeks, I did not want to leave. The children are INCREDIBLE and this organization really thrives when there are foreign volunteers at the home. You WILL make a difference, though as I said before, prepare yourself for a challenge. This is difficult, but very rewarding work. I think about the 40 girls at the Greater Noida home often.
I was living in Thailand this past year and knew that I had to make a return trip to Udayan Care. I visited the Greater Noida home for a week and was amazing how much the children had grown and matured. Even after almost 3 years apart, the girls all remembered me and it took no time to get reacquainted. Once you get to know these children, they will always be a part of you.
I've joined Udayan Care for 3 months, starting from April till the end of June. I've found this opportunity through my university (Bocconi University).
Initially i wasn't supposed to live in the homes provided by Udayan Care, since i envisage to pass the majority of my time during my internship working in the head office of the organization.
At the end i decided for a "complete" experience, and i took the chance to live in the Noida Boys Home.
And definitly i cannot regret this decision.
I've spent 3 hard-working but wonderful months, since i was dividing myself between the project research at the head office and being at home with the kids.
I've held some guitar-classes at home, and it's wonderful to see how the children react to this kind of activities. They're always enthusiastic.
Life-changing experience. I'll definitly visit India again.
I spent 3 months in the boys home in noida sector 35.
And I am really happy that I decided to work there because I won alot of new experiences.
The most of the time I spent the time with the kids of the orphanage together, that was really good because all of them were verry friendly and polite. We did alot of sports together cooked together I tried to help them with there homework and also some outside activities
During the time the children went to school I worked in the office of Udayan care. There I worked on some exel files but I also looked for some opportunities which I could do with the children for example outside activities.
All in all this trip was verry good it somehow changes my life now because its completly different there and you learn and see alot of new things.
So I really can recommend this, and ofcause its hard at the beginning because India is really completly different but keep going and you will love it :)
Regards
I stayed at the Udayan Care girls home at Noida for 2 months. Most of the week I spend my time there, studying, playing etc. with the children. Twice a week I went to the head office where I did research work for some hours. These 2 months were so beautiful, enriching and fantastic. I really enjoyed working with this organisation. It was great to meet so many nice people, who were always helpful and caring. The work at the home was full of happiness, the children so open, friendly and cute that it soon felt like I was part of a big family. Though we mostly spend just the usual daily life together, each day was different, diverse and thus so amazing, always full of new stories, ideas and impressions. Through the work at the office I experienced another kind of volunteer work and had the chance to go to Delhi several times a week. That brought even more variety to my stay. Besides I experienced the amazing, beautiful and colorful Indian culture l through my stay at the girls home. Overall, it was a incredible time with Udayan Care in Delhi. And I'll try to come back soon!
My short time at Udayan started on the 9th April. I went to the Udayan Office in Vasant Vihar and was warmly welcomed into the whole organization. That I was told my first priority, which was to go the Mehrauli Home, which house 12 girls, two of which I was to tutor and generally spend time with every week day evening, in order to help improve their English, due to their impending trip to Melbourne, Australia. The next day I went to meet Dolly Annad (Dolly Auntie), who very kindly showed me around and introduced me to all the girls, including Sheetal and Shalu, the two lovely girls I would be tutoring for the next month.
I left the house that first day feeling happy, welcomed and extremely excited about the task in hand. I went home and created a plan, which involved one of the girls work book which had been shown to me by one of their other tutors. I went through the book picking out the areas I thought would be important to people going to be speaking only English for a long period of time, aware that I there would be making changes as I got to know the girls and what their strengths and weaknesses were. For the past few weeks I have spent one hour every week day going through exercises in the book and speech exercises that I have created. One of the main problems I noticed in both of the girls was pronunciation, which I have been working on now for the past few days. Their vocabulary, pronunciation and their confidence have been the areas that I have seen the most improvement in. having said that I have seen huge progress in all areas of their work, and it makes me so happy and proud to see them doing so well in their work.
It has been the most amazing experience getting know all the girls in the house. They have all been so kind and welcoming, and I am aware that it must be hard for them to see so many people come and out of their lives so quickly. I can’t believe that I am my last week; I will miss all the girls so much. There was a party last week that celebrated all the girls’ birthdays in April, and I brought my mother along with me and it was so amazing to share all the joy the past month has brought me with her. It truly showed how much the girls and Udayan has affected my life. The past month with Sheetal and Shalu started out as a task and has finished as an achievement which has bought me nothing but joy.
Throughout the past month, I have also been working on the Volunteer’s Annual Report. It was a task that was entrusted to me, despite my concerns about my lack of ability to use a computer very well and yet it was still handed to me. This has allowed me to explore another side to what I can do and for that, I will be always grateful. It has shown me how faith in a person can in turn make them grow and achieve something they wouldn't have thought they could otherwise. The research for the report has also shown me how much the organization and the volunteers have achieved in the past year and how much a difference they have made in so many young people’s lives.
An amazing month, with so much happiness from start to finish. I have a feeling I will be coming back.
In 2012 to early 2013,I had an opportunity as a visiting scholar doing research in JNU,during this period I had taken my son fulfilled a volunteer service in Udayan Care-----We went to two Udayan Care's kid's home in succession, therefore we met with such wonderful children and mentor parents.I found this charitable group is really set example for whole society.I rate this group as excellent work and highest Volunteer Spirits!

I am a Chinese schalor,I had visited Udayan care in Christmas day 2007.I had met Dr. Kiran Modi and many other friends.I had a very happy day spent with lovely girls at your children's home. I was deeply touched by Udayan's spirits which is charity and devotion.I hope I would have a chance to meet you again in Udayan Care or I welcome you come to visit our country--China,so that we can learn from each other the experience on how to run a charity trust. My best regards give to Dr. Kiran Modi and all good friends and boys and girls in Udayan Care. May warm friendship between India and China last forever! I interned in Udayan Care for 6 weeks and found the experience truly inspiring and full of learnings. I worked in the head office for 4 weeks where I had to interact with all the corporate employees of Udayan on a daily basis for my project. I found their perseverance and passion for the cause of Udayan awe inspiring. I also visited their Chattarpur Home for 2 weeks and had the time of my life with the children there. They are such a bright, fun-loving and friendly bunch of kids, that they will hold a special place in my heart always.
I volunteered in for Udayan Care in the Ghaziabad Home for Girls for the third time.
I stayed for 3 weeks.
Again I had a beautiful and exiting stay.
My most beautiful memories are mostly small moments, the girls sharing thoughts or feelings, calm moments which each of the girls, when they forget their thoughts and fights and just want to sit a bit and talk or ask me to sing a song or to tell a story...
Staying full-time in the Home gives the possibility to be very close to the children and to the life in a Home. You get a near impression of the life in the home and you share a lot with the children. But it also can be stressful and makes one feel tired sometimes when there is no possibility to take distance for some time.
It makes it a very intensive experience and every home is individual with its own atmosphere, characters...
The time in Ghaziabad, I think also for other volunteers in different homes, is full of extremes, but in the end there is this feeling of looking back to an intensive time of love and joy.
That’s why I am looking forward the next time and say thank you to Udayan Care, for everything you give to the children!

I was at the Ghaziabad Home for girls for the second time in march and last week for 6 days. The experiences I made last week were different as it took not much time to acclimatize. It was a week full of joy as the children had holidays and we could do a lot of fun things. We painted, danced and even went to the mall together with the menthor mother. I could see some developments of the girls, for example their english-skills improve, their looks change and also the topics of interest. Every day in the home is different, full of surprises. After a `crisis´ like a big dispute or chaotic and unmotivated study-time, there is always an even bigger high and beautiful experience. I promised that I´ll come back as soon as possible, so I have to do that ... :)
In this NGO, I know a girl named Burlburl, she can dance so well. After working here ,I have know that every child has the chance to grow up happily.Every child has potential to be a star and a singer. And every child need care.
I had volunteered for Udayan Care as part of our institution's Social Awareness programme. The whole exercise was very enriching in terms of how we understood the intricacies of the working of an NGO, and the efforts put in by Udayan Care in their areas of cause are extremely commendable.
The project guides were helpful and encouraged us to go beyond our mandate and come up with innovative solutions as well.
I would be looking forward to another opportunity of working with them.
I have spend my last five month volunteering at Udayan Care. In the morning I worked in the head office and in the afternoon I visited one of the homes where I mainly helped the children in there daily life and in there studies.
It was an amazing experience which influenced me in a very positive way, I worked together with such lovely people and the work with the children was so much fun. I really was involved in the projects I was working on and was able to give a lot of my own impact to it.
It was an impressive time and I am really looking forward to come back.
I am an educated teacher from Denmark who are spending 4 months with Udayan Care here in New Delhi. From 10am-2pm I am working at their Head Office doing very exciting work for the organization and from 2.30-6pm I am staying at the Sant Nagar home for girls. I am not living in the home, but I am enjoying all the time I spend with the girls. We put up a Gymnastics show on the big event of "Gift a Smile" held in the Greater Noida home in October. We are playing math games, speaking danish/hindi, doing their homework and practising more gymnastics and some short dances. I have already been here in India for 1½ month, so the time is flying. Hopefully I will find the time to come back since being with Udayan Care and with these girls definitely have changed my way of living :)
I was a a child with a lot of dreams but no direction until i became "UDAYAN SHALINI ". I became a part of it in 2007 and these 5 years journey is a life changing experience for me. UDAYAN CARE provided me the guidance, assistance ,support and courage to become a CISCO engineer!!!! Thank you
I volunteered with Udayan in the summer of 2010. I worked with 2 other foreign volunteers at the Chatturpur home in New Delhi for 6 weeks. We lived there and spent a lot of time with the girls in that home. It was an amazing experience and I think of those little girls every day. I can't wait to find the time to go back again and see them!

I just returned from India where I worked with Udayan Care. I lived and worked at one of the orphanages for girls in Delhi. This was one of the newer homes they have opened. There were 12 girls aged 5 1/2-14 yrs old. I was placed with Udayan through a volunteer vacation company and I am grateful for the experience. After a rocky start with the girls I left with a heavy heart! We helped the girls learn english and helped with math. This is a well run organization...they care about the volunteers and our experiences as well as taking great care that the kids are well taken care of on a daily basis. I plan on doing whatever I can from home to help raise awareness about this great non-profit!!
I am associated with Udayan Care since 2005 at Kurukshetra..First we began USF programme where 11 meritorious girls from poor socio-economic status were awarded Udayan Shalini Fellowship and within two years Udayan Care started its Ghar with 10 girls Abandoned /Orphaned). I feel blessed to play a constructive role in the lives of 167 Udayan Shalini Fellows (USFs) receiving education in Kurukshetra and around i.e. Ladwa, Shahbad and Ismilabad. In Udayan Ghar, we are parenting our girls..As a Professional I have used RTE for my girls and got them admitted in age-appropriate classes..They really excelled and made us feel proud of them. Within a span of three years most of them have completed the education of 5/6 years. They all receiving education in the best schools of Kurukshetra. It is great so see them developing so well. Udayan Shalini Fellows also play a very active role in their lives. I feel so fortunate to be associated with Udayan Care and be a member of U Care Family..We certainly have capability to give role models for our society. MAY GOD GUIDE US THROUGH OUT!

I have beeen involved with Udayan Care for the last five years. It was through award of Udayan Shalini Fellowship to 11 students at Kurukshetra University campus. For the last almost one year I have been involved with Udayan Ghar where 10 girls are being looked after. Its great opportunity where you witness life being transformed for better..I,Prof. Sushama Sharma, Professor of Education (Special Education), presently Dean, Faculty of Education and Chairperson, Department of Education at Kurukshetra University and work on honourary capacity as Mentor Mother and Convener.
I spent two months volunteering with Udayan Care in Jaipur and had such a great experience.I truly enjoyed being there and spending time with the children. This was the experience that I was looking for. I lived at the home with the children and got to spend 2 months giving my undivided attention to deserving children. Every day I was amazed by these children.
The organization itself is great, I could tell that the children are well taken care of and cared for. There was a good balance of discipline, studying time, playing time and extra curricular activities . There is no doubt that these children are being given all the tools they need to become successful individuals. This was also my first time in India and I felt very supported by the staff at the home. They made me feel welcome and always made sure I had anything I needed.
I am so happy I got to be a part of these children's lives and I will definitely be back to see them. I strongly recommend Udayan Care for anyone looking to volunteer. I really felt that my time here was meaningful and will have a great impact on the children and on myself.
I have joined Udayan Care for 3 weeks and, even if it was a short period, it was a challenging and instructive experience. I have worked at the Head Office and I dealt with the creation of long-term partnerships with the principal foreign Universities aiming at receiving International students as volunteers or interns at Udayan Care.
The working environment was really nice and cooperative. The volunteer department supported me, but at the same time they demonstrated to trust me by allowing me to work independently and to take responsibilities.
I discovered a keen interest in networking and public relations tasks.
It is a NGO that is working in an effective and transparent way, making a great impact on the life of the children, women and youth involved in its programmes!
Hey there, my name is Sabrina I am 20 years old and I stayed in India working with Udayan Care for 2 month. I worked as a volunteer in one of Udayan Care children homes. I Was situated in greater Noida in the biggest home of Udayan Care. There are living 40 girl in the Age of 6-23. I first had to get acquainted to the girls, their daily life and how I could place my role in that daily life. I helped the girls with the food, managing school stuff, getting ready and started for school, solving homework problems and after school stuff was finished I tried to do and plan some freetime acitivity as we would do in my home country, Germany. Therefore it is good if you, as a volunteer have some special skills or hobbies you could share with the girls as they are really happy for everything you share with them for example pictures of your family, stories about school life in Germany etc. Also the communication and contact with the organization which has its main office in Delhi, was very good. We joined the volunteers meeting every month and if there where any problems, the email contact was fast and constant. All in all I really enjoyed working with the organization, what I really love about them is that they really put the main aspect on the education of the children and that they, later on, can stand on their own feed and look into a wonderful future as independet persons. I would definitely work again with Udayan Care and I can just recommend it.
I was involved with Udayan Care for one year. In this time I made lots of new, important and good experiences. I built a relationship with the girls of one of the homes, which is hard to break now. I never had the feeling, that Udayan Care would hide anything from me and this transparency made it so interesting for me, to get more inside of the NGO life. I think it is definitely a good institution for beginners as well as professionals to get to know more about the way of working of an NGO. Sometimes I felt myself being on my own a little bit, but I guess that made it more instructive in the end.
Last summer, I was a volunteer at Udayan Care's Greater Noida Girls' home for about 4 weeks. In that short period of time, I learned so much academically, culturally, and personally. At first, Udayan Care's overall mission and goals are what convinced me to volunteer for this organization. But, each day, the children at this home are what truly gave me the passion to want to do better in this world. Udayan Care is an example of a great non-profit and my experiences there will never be duplicated or replaced. Whether being a volunteer, mentor, social worker, caretaker, etc., every role is important in shaping these children's lives and I believe Udayan Care is truly making a difference in India.
Hello i'm Alex, and i lived in noida boys home. Really, i think that the experience was incredible, really fantastic. you will see another culture, all the bad things and the goods things, you will grow up like a person, and open your mind in another ways.
I was at the girls' home in Noida for 2,5 weeks. It was a great time. I learned a lot from the children and every day there happened something new. So it never got boring. We did different activities together, like Yoga, Dance-class or going to the park and playing there. I was really surprised how self-consistent the girls are. They told me a lot about living in India and I told them about living in Germany. It was a great exchange! There were also several challenges to be met, but it only made be stronger and more self confident. The staff of Udayan Care was very friendly and helpful! I would recommend such a volunteer trip to a totally different country to everyone. It is a great experience and helps you to see your life from a different view. Thank you for the great experience!
My association with Udayan Care Started in 2008. I used to visit their Noida Home where young boys who used to live on the streets, orphaned, drug abused; these kids found a Home where they were loved, cared and provided with everything that any child in a Middle class family can possibly have. I had the opportunity to teach some basic math, language skills but more than that I learned how happiness is not about receiving , it's about giving, sharing. Udayan Care is a very committed organization, doing a fabulous job and the credit for that goes to the leadership of the organization headed by Ms. Kiran Modi. If you want to Volunteer , teach kids, spread smiles get in touch with Udayan Care.
I am linked with the organization from more than 6 years now. I still remember the first day the first talk and the way I was motivated to move ahead in life, with positivism, right attitude, considering those well, who are deprived than me.Being a Udayan Shalini Fellow, I feel proud and honored to tell all that I am learning everyday, growing every minute, enhancing my skills each second for the betterment of myself, family and the society. I owe all my achievements, success and identification till yet, to Udayan Care. It will not be wrong to say that Udayan Care is my second parent. Being a source of inspiration, Udayan Care has always extended the support every minute in my thick and thin and because of the same, I look forward to serve the society in all possible means I can. Thank you, Udayan Care! Always with you!!
I travelled to India in May 2011 with my twin sister. We both spent 4 weeks at the Greater Noida home. During this time, we were also a part of the annual summer camp. It was fantastic spending time with all the other children from the other homes, especially the younger ones. Whilst at Greater Noida, we spent all of our time with the children, talking, having fun, helping them with holiday homework etc. The children were all lovely and we became very close with them in a very short space of time....We also spent a day at the Gurgaon home. This was a lovely experience as it was a boys home and it differed to the Greater Noida home in the manner that it was being run by a couple. Ranjan Uncle and Lily Aunty are fantastic with the boys and treat them as their own. It had a proper family feel to it and we thoroughly enjoyed our very short stay with them. We hope to return again this summer to see all those bright smiling faces. Can't wait!
We have been in practice at the orphanage in Greter Noida. In Denmark, we are studying both nutrition and health, and this practice was something special, partly because we had to go out and show what we could but also because we were going to the country that are so far from Denmark that you only read about in books. It has been a very special experience to stay at the orphanage and help the girls' daily routines, it has been something special to hear their views on health and see how little is actually needed to create happy times. We have learned much from being at the orphanage. it has been a great experience.
I had a great experience working with Udayan Care. Out of the many things that I liked, there are two very striking features. The first is the level of professionalism exhibited by the employees of Udayan Care. I have been to many NGOs, but they are usually dainty places, with very little enthusiasm among staff. However, Udayan Care staff were motivated, energetic and highly professional (Like in a Corporate Company, only much kinder). The second thing that I loved about Udayan Care was the atmosphere it has created for the underprivileged children. Children here feel more confident, happier and at home compare to many other NGOs that I have visited. These are the striking features that I remember when I think about Udayan Care and the memory that I have had here, I shall always cherish.
I interned at Udayan Care for six weeks last summer and it proved to be one of the most satisfying experience of my life. The thing that touched me most is the cause that this organization works for. I have seen the kind of difference they have brought in the lives of its children. Those kids, who were once orphaned and abandoned without any hope for future, today lead a comfortable life of dignity and self reliance. I admire Kiran Modi, Founder and Managing Trustee-Udayan Care, for her dedication and will to make this society, this world a better place for the children.
I, Ina Rüber, 20 years old, from Germany, volunteered for Udayan Care Home IV in Greater Noida for one year (2010-2011). I would say that this year changed my life. I started appreciating every opportunity I had and still have in my life more than ever before. Daily work with the Udayan kids included every kind of emotion. While studying, playing, discussing, jogging, cooking, painting, talking, storytelling, singing... I got attached to each child. Udayan Care is an organisation, which focus on the future of the kids and invests in the important things, like good education. I have seen a lot of NGO's but non, giving the child such a great environment as Udayan Care does. I still feel attached to this organisation and I will definetly support it further in my life. At my last visit I got the chance to visit kurushetra home and I was impressed. I guess like this a home should work. The unity between the kids was outstanding and the care provided by the mentor and caregiver was perfect. To achieve this in every home volunteers could play an important role, organising unity-creating activities once a week for example. Caregiver should be reminded that their work is not only household, but caring for the kids as well. They should be motivated to talk to the children, to get personaly attached. During my last visti to Greater Noida I could see one awesome improvement in a relation between Ushaunty (caregiver) and Arti (child). Arti sadly got diabetes and needs an injection every evening. Thus Ushaunty has to spend more time with Arti and this did a lot to their relationship. Due to this special care Ushaunty got quite more attached to Arti and cares for her in a much lovelier way than she did before. Udayan Care has a lot of potential, which I noticed in a lot of meetings, but sometimes there were more talks than activities. If every idea could be realized with the help of volunteers Udayan Care could grow signifacantly in providing the best for the child.
My twin sister and I travelled to India in May 2011, we stayed at the Greater Noida Girls home for 4-5 weeks. Our experience was absoloutely amazing. We were there to experience an absoloutely fantastic summer camp that had been organised where all the Udayan Care children came to the Greater Noida home. The summer camp consisted of fantastic activities that all children thoroughly enjoyed aswell as giving time to the children to socialise and spend time with one another. The child led presentation at the end of the summer camp showed how much the children had learnt and how much they enjoyed the week-long activities. We were also there during the wedding of one of the girls at Greater Noida. It was amazing to see how hard Udayan Care were working to ensure that these girls were part of a family, and never felt they were lacking in any ways. .......We absoloutely loved our time at Udayan Care! The children were amazing and we keep in touch with them through facebook. We hope to return soon, to see all our little sisters and brothers!
One Laptop per Child (OLPC) seems to be one initiative in education that can transform the way a child learns more than nearly all educational innovations of the past century together. Sounds like a tall claim? Just check out Khairat school near Mumbai and Keekerwali in Shriganganagar, Rajasthan. Its an spiritual experience for those who want to see children discover themselves.
As OLPC says, children are born genius and society works hard to dumb them down. OLPC laptops help them discover the genius within.
What a great organization like Pratham may achieve in a decade, OLPC can help achieve less than in a year. Just try it out.
If one had to look at the ROI on education, ROI from a Rs 15000 investment in OLPC laptops will top nearly any investments anyone can make anywhere.
If you want to see the smile on a child's face for ever, try out OLPC laptops for every child in your school. If in doubt, check out Uruguay where EVERY SINGLE child learns with OLPC.
Ask Sandeep Surve of Khairat or Dr Veena Sethi of Udaan what they see in OLPC. And take the message to as many people as you can take it to.
Most of all take it to Kapil Sibal and every chief minister of various states in India. Ask them not to stand in the way of the future of the underprivileged Indian children.
Let them know that every child in India is as good as the best anywhere. Its the state policies and the education system that force them to forego their future and live an existence that would have been shameful a century ago.
Ask them to help children learn learning and make India a great country that it can become if all its children get the right education.
Right to education is meaningless with Right Education. Ask them to embrace OLPC.
My mother and I are qualified teachers who work in Education in Scotland. We visited Udayan Care in the hope that we could offer support with homework, social interaction and conversational English. We found the home we visited a friendly, positive environment. The care staff were welcoming and the girls were an extremely friendly bunch. We were impressed by the level of care and the ethos of the place. There was a strong sense of family in evidence. We felt that the children were encouraged to be responsible and develop independence in a positive and supportive way. Routines gave structure and settled the girls, adults were ambitious about what the girls could achieve academically. We felt privileged to spend some time in such a positive and friendly environment.
I was a volunteer who came to help. It turned out to be the other way round. Being a part of this beautiful family gave me a new hope. The difference that Udayan Care has made in the lives of these children is unbelievable. I feel extremely proud to have been a part of their beautiful lives, even though only for a brief moment of time. While I was volunteering at Udayan Care, I was never told what to do. I myself used to assign myself to different roles; organizing fund raisers, corporate programs, summer camps etc... I feel proud of my Udayan children who taught all of us how to smile and cherish life, no matter what. The love that I received from the children made all my efforts worthwhile and the passion and commitment of Kiran Maam truly inspired me. I wish everybody at the Udayan family the best of luck and hope to be a part of many success stories along the way !
The origanisation meets the requirements of the children at its various homes. They are been given very good educational services. All their needs are takes care of. There is a Mentor mother all the time to give advice and support to the children. I had a very good time volunteering for this NGO and would like to extend my support in shaping up the future of the kids.
Udayan Care has been my Guiding Star all through my MSc, providing not only monetary support but also a motivation to give back to the society. They provided me with a positive attitude in life and I went on to become the University Gold Medalist along with getting the prestigious CSIR-Junior Research Fellowship for my PhD.It's from their motivation that I've been able to reach so far... And I'm not the only one... 7 friends of mine too have a similar story to tell..
I am currently a volunteer at the Gurgan boys home. I arrived in sept and will leave in dec. Presently I help the boys with their school work and their english. I lead a mourning exercise routine for all the boys before they go to school and at night I work closly with 4 boys in a more intense exercise routine that involves weight training. I also put together various study assignments for them in the form of team or individual competitions and use prizes to help motivate them to study and prepare. For the central office of Udayan Care I am putting together a study that focuses on the impact volunteers have on the boys at the home. The whole experience thus far has been very enriching and rewarding. I've come to really care for the boys and their well being. We have loads of fun together when playing games and have formed personal connections with some of them. One thing I like a lot about Udayan Care is the availablity of the staff at the office if I have any questions or concerns. Plus the volunteer experience is very open and allows the volunteer much room to do and teach the children what they like and put together various kinds of programs that reflect the strengths of the volunteer. I am expecially impressed by the immense care that the caregivers at the Gurgean home have for the children here, and the intense care that the office staff and mentor mothers have for the children. A times the days can be boring since for half the days the kids are at school but there isn't many places around the home to go and relax. Sometimes I feel that I want to get away from the home, its hard for me to spend all my time here. The good thing is that I am allowed to travel to Delhi for a couple days each week if I want and it is something that is encourged to the volunteers to help them re-energize. Overall it will be emotionally hard for me when I have to leave because I've formed personal attachments to many of the kids and I'm going to really miss them when I'm gone.
I volunteered with Udayan care beginning February 2009, when I was in India on a Fulbright grant. I volunteered there for a month but returned several times to visit with the girls at the Sant Nagar home for girls. During my time at the home, I helped the girls with homework and their studies. I was immediately struck by the girls' drive and sense of community. Udayan Care gives these children the opportunity to have an excellent education, succeed at their work, and live in a caring environment. Dr. Kiran Modi is truly exceptional--she truly loves these children and goes to great lengths to improve the program every day. Since I first volunteered, the program, which was already stellar at the time, has grown even stronger due to her efforts and the efforts of the staff and caretakers at Udayan care. The children thrive in their environment, learn to help and support one another in their new family, and reach their full potential. This is an extraordinary organization.
I volunteered with the Udayan team for 6 weeks in 2004 living mainly in their Greater Noida home. The organisation was fantastic then and I know it has only grown and improved since. I have assisting in raising funds for the children back in Australia and will always have fond memories of my time with the children there.
I was new to Udyancare untill I came across them being the part of the corporate social responsibility team of the organisation I work with. My experience was far beyond my expectations and I was really impressed by the committment to quality demonstrated by them. I wish them all the very best in all their future endeavours and wish to contribute as a volunteer in all possible means
I first discovered Udayan care on one of my trips to India, where I was invited to an event held for Udayan care.I could instanty see the love of this organisation and knew I wanted to be part of it. Three years later, I have spent many trips visiting the homes, working with the wonderful team and spending time with the amazing children. I love it so much that when I was asked to start the organisation in Australia to raise awareness globally I couldn't resist. So now i am am working on the challenge to raise funds and awareness in Australia so this incredible organisation reaches the full potential it deserves.
We are a group of volunteers who work in a corporate. With our good luck, we had an opportunity to work closely with this renowned NGO. We have engaged ourselves with the kids by inviting them to our organization and giving them the feel of a corporate. The kids are very innovative and full of zeal. I am sure Udayan has gone a great deal by making the kids what they are today. The NGO is very focussed and active in working for the less privileged. I am sure they are making a big difference to the society.
Hello Everyone. I worked with Udayan Care as a Volunteer helping children in their studies, spending qulaity time with, celebrating festivals with them. It was for almost three to four years that i interacted with the children of Udayan care. it was an enriching and enlightung experience for me wherein even i learnt things from these children. Udayan Care is doing so much for these children like any parent does for his/her children or probably even more than that. Thank You Swati Nanda
I got the opportunity to work with Udayan Care while working as a part of 'Orange' Corporate Social Responsibility team. From day one, Udayan care and the team of Dr Kiran Modi left a very positive response. They were well prepared for the meeting and were clear on what help they were looking for. It made the job of 'engaging' with Udayan Care lot more easier. With passage of time we learnt more about Udayan and its team of volunteers. What was most encouraging was the fact that many of the old Udayan children have grown up and decided to vounteer their services for the benefit of other Udayan kids. This inspite of the fact that they had more lucrative opportunities awaiting in the Corporate world. This and many other such tid-bits assured the Orange CSR team that we have the right fit in 'Udayan' as our NGO partner. Our the last two years we have done different activities with Udayan including setting up kiosks, inviting the kids to join our organization 'birthday clebrations'. And every time we have been overwhelmed with the capabilities of the kids. And Udayan Care is doing such a great job of nurturing their talent. By providing a safe shelter and the right environment to grow.
I have been volunteering with Udayan Care for more than five years now. UC is among the most well run and transparent NGOs that I know of. The ties that we develop with fellow-volunteers, the children and team members are life long bonds and the involvement of each person makes the organization even more special. I would really like to mention the Founder, Dr. Kiran Modi who is super dedicated to the cause and does not leave any stone unturned in making the life of the children comfortable. Many of the children are now young adults and it is most satisfying to see them getting jobs and leading independent lives.
Udyancare is synonymous to committment.During my stay over there I got to meet mentor parents and interact with them.It was great to see their allegiance with the organisation's vision. The dedication of volunteers Swasthi,Geeti bora and the driving factor Mrs Bedi gives it a great future.Regular meetings with children parents and promotional events organised make it a healthy NGO. Though the staff is committed but a lot of work needs to be done on the front of resource generation and its effective management.A sound planning and execution is must for any organisation's success.
My wife Ms. Saroj Kapoor and myself Professor(Dr) B.S.Kapoor have been associated with the teaching programme at the school and University level respectively. After our retirement we decided to join some Organization engaged in running the programme of upliftment of the underpriviledged children. This is how we came in contact with Udayan Care Organization running a programme, viz., Udayan Shalini Fellowship(USF)"---bringing the girl students into the main stream of the Society. The central theme of UC has been to make such children self confidant and standing up to face challenges in life. Both of us have been carrying out our duties as mentor-parents for the past ten years or so.What we have enjoyed the most is the total dedication of a team of committed people under the able guidance of individuals likes of Dr.Kiran modi, Dr.Vikram Dutt and others having a much broader vision ahead. The way UC/UFS has evolved during the years has been really amazing. We have seen girls, some of them belonging to first-generation school going ones, joining colleges. Some of them got admitted to the Medical/Engineering streams as well. Three years back, an attempt was made to extend the UFS Scheme to the college-going girls as well. The responsse was good and the results were very encouraging. Some of the fellows got selected for courses like MCA,M.Sc. biotechnology, B.Ed. etc. Unfortunately, this programme of financial assistance to the college-going girls students had to be withdrawn, perhaps, due to paucity of funds. Besides, through "Udyan Ghars"the Organization has been trying to provide a family-environment to the orphans and the underpriviledged children.A commendable efforts!Various events & social Programmes are organised as means to make the fellows aware of the social problems, and to have some fun as well. To sum up, what the Organization needs the most, besides the FUNDS of course, is the availability of dedicated and professional personnel to make the programme a more successful and meaningful too.
I worked with Udayan Care as Staff psychologist for 4 months in 2003 and have been associated with the home and children ever since. It was a very rewarding experience working with such a wonderful organization. The way of working adopted is one of the best in the country and the environment created for children and their development is appreciable. I wish them all the best in all their endeavours.
I visited Udayan Care as a volunteer, girls centre near Chattarpur-Delhi, almost a couple of years ago. I found the organisation to be v professionally managed. There was a counsellor, and a staff taking care of girls. I also met mentors. I have every reason to believe that they are trying their level best to provide girls with good education. Udayan Care is a ray of hope for so many disadvantaged girls.
Udayan Care is an organisation dedicated to improving the lives of the children entrusted in their care. They always strive to ensure their children receive the best possible opportunities in life,(education, career paths, exposure to various cultural and intellectually rich experiences). Udayan Care provides the children with a chance to better the quality of their lives, a vital option they may not have had otherwise.
It is one of the beautiful organisations I worked for. Udayan care actually brought the children out of their traumatic past and given them the essence of life. Each child is dear to all the people who are associated with Udayan Care. Thats the bonding as an organisation brings in. Even after three years formally leaving the organisation as an employee, I am bonded with the vision and the children
I, as a volunteer for the Teach India initiative of the Times of India group, was lucky to be assigned to work with the Udayan Care, a non profit organization working to provide supportive family environment, opportunities for development of the disadvantaged children and to make a difference in their lives. At Udayan Care, I was asked to teach at Home 6 Boys' Udayan Ghar located at Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India. The Noida Udayan Ghar is a home for 12 boys in the age group of 6 to 12 years. I was requested by the lady incharge, Ms. Anjana Jain, to look after Master Ajay, a student of Class IV. I, besides teaching Ajay, learnt a great deal myself interacting with the children and understanding their aspiration to stand on their own feet and contribute back to the society. Udayan Care is doing a yeoman service in the lives of these disadvantaged children by providing them not only safe, secure and healthy environment but also helping them to grow and develop to be the confident citzens of tomorrow.
my experience with udayan care has been great... the way they work is absolutely fantastic, all their endeavours towards making the lives the underpriveleged better is very appriciable...it feels great to work with udayan care....
I am an employee of CSC and CSC has a programme CMP, where volunteer employees meet and guide children from NGOs. I have been involved with CMP for about 2 years. I have also been to their Sant Nagar home once. It has been a great learning experience. I liked the fact that they all call it "home" and consider it so ... forgetting the past that some of them might have gone through. They are a group of happy kids... studying, learning and having fun :)
Udayan Care is an NGO where everyone is passsionate about 'Doing something more' for the underpriviledged children & women. Led by a dedicated and driven Mrs Kiran Modi, the NGO truly surpasses boundaries by constantly focussing on innovative internal process improvements and growth. I am extremely impressed with the ethics and the culture of the organisation and feel proud to be associated with Udayan care.
I HAVE BEEN OBSERVING THE UDAYAN CARE FOR QUITE SOMETIME, AND KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE ASSOCIATED WITH IT, ON HONORARY BASIS, AND FOR THE CAUSE OF PHILANTHROPY. THERE IS A CONSENSUS AMONG ALL OF US THAT THE ASSOCIATION IS REALLY DOING A COMMENDABLE JOB, AND NEEDS FULL SUPPORT AND ENCOURAGEMENT. ITS EFFORTS HAVE YIELDED GOOD RESULTS, AND IT IS POSITIVELY INFLUENCING LIVES OF THOUSANDS OF DOWNTRODDENS. THE BEST PART OF THE ASSOCIATION IS THAT IT FOLLOWS THE NORMS OF ACCOUNTABILITY AND TRANSPARENCY, AND HENCE ITS CREDIBILTY IS MANY LEVELS HIGHER THAN OTHER CSOs. I CONVEY MY BEST WISHES TO ITS MANAGEMENT AND VOLUNTEERS WORKING FOR UDAYAN CARE. ---YOGESH BAWEJA y_baweja@yahoo.com
I came across this organisation and its prime mover while working with another charitable NGO. Udayan care has grown in size and stature.
I had approached Udyan Care for adoption of a Kid. But was told that they do not give kids for adoption but we can help the kids by funding for their education and food. They are providing a very healthy environment for the ophaned kids who are in different age groups. Our experience in Udyan Care was very enriching the staff was very caring towards the children which satisfied us and many other like us who thought that the organisation was working hard to make the lives of these children very fulfilling.
I have been associated with Udayan Care UC since its inception. In last 15 years the way UC has evolved is truely amazing! There was a time when UC had choose between more no. of children to be taken care of , or, have less children but provide them good education and better standard of life, it chose the latter. Today UC can cerainly take credit of making the beneficiaries better and productive citizens of the country.
We always hear that a good company is made by good leaders and this completely applies with Udayan Care with Dr. Kiran Modi being on board running the show successfully. She is a kind of person who doesn't treat NGO's as money making organization and truly feels the pain of others. She has done a remarkable job in making Udayan Care where it is today. My best wishes to Udayan Care to grow more and more and achieve the mission of helping the underprivileged. Thanks Sachin Mary Kay 9999237867
Well to start with, let it be known that i have not worked with Udayan Care but being a journalist by training whose core area of interest is development issues and Environment, I have been silently monitoring painstaking efforts of quite a few non profits both in metropolis and small pockets of India that are doing remarkable job and spreading smiles. Udayan care happens to be just one of them. With their programmes like Udayan Shalini Fellowship(USF), they have been successfully integrating a good amount of girl students into the mainstream society. And its not just integrating them but also making them self dependent, thats where the challenge lies. The beauty of this non profit lies in the fact that they have been doing remarkable job without beating drums about it. The efforts to carry out meaningful change to the lives of less privileged have been done in the most effective and honest manner. There have these girls from USF who have gone to engineering colleges, got great jobs and taken care of girls in USF with their own hard earned money. Thats the cycle of success that Udayan care has set in society. My heartful good wishes for the non profit from both as a journalist and as a human being. Goodluck....Udayan Care...you have a long way to go....
I spent 5 weeks staying at Udayan Care's Girls Home in Noida, and it was an incredible experience. The home was brand new, only having been up and running for a couple of months when I arrived, and the staff both in the home and the head office did everything possible to help the three girls living there at the time adjust to their new surroundings. The girls had excellent caretakers in the home who provided great meals and a good nurturing environment, and the supporting staff from the head office came by often to offer additional support to the children. My role was to provide help to the children with their studies, to organize various events and craft projects to do with the girls as a means to exercise creativity and have some fun, and to construct a training manual for future volunteers! It was WONDERFUL. One of the best times of my life. Everyone working there was extremely thoughtful, passionate and dedicated to improving the life of the girls living within the home. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to get involved with a non-profit who is dedicated to improving the lives of children. WONDERFUL!
Udayan Care is one of the few organizations working on the issue of Children and yet having a limited number of children being served (for the beginners). A closer look inside, unlike many organizations which flaunt their strength by the sheer number of beneficiaries like herds, Udayan Care stands apart. What sets it apart is its commitment and quality of care which is wholistic and integrative in approach and impact. The organization has always maintained a focused vision of providing FAMILY to the orphan and disadvantaged children. Distinguishably, it has stood true to its vision and purpose with its tenacity and best of endeavours. The first batches of Udayan Care children who joined the family in its early days, have graduated to the regular and independent lives. Some have got married. Many have got employed. Surprisingly, with reputed employers and organizations. The children not only study at "big" schools like DPS and Sanskriti schools but, it has set new precedents by sending its child(ren) to attain education and courses outside India too. Hats off to Udayan Care. Anything for the sweet children at Udayan Care :)
I spent two weeks volunteering at Sant Nagar Udayan Ghar Girls Home back in March 2009, it was the most wonderful experience and something that I keep close to me everyday. I have since been back a number of times and my next trip to see the girls will be in November. I cannot praise the committment that each staff member has to the children and the amount of effor that everyone puts into the daily lives of the girls.
I worked at the office and worked at the orphanage. The orphanage was really impressive. They just finished remodeling and they have a pretty organized routine of eating lunch and starting their homework. At the office, however, I got the sense that this organization had a long way to go. Even though they started many years ago, they still did not have a professional brochure to hand out to people, they did not have a donor care policy, and they did not have standard Thank You Letters. Kiran Modi seemed to be the only one working her full potential, while the other workers just listened to what she said and carried out their work to the minimum. In order to get more volunteers and more donations, everyone at Udayan Care will have to work towards a common goal.
I visited Udayan Care Sant Nagar home just a couple of times and, truth be told, expected only sad faces there. But to my pleasant surprise, I came across some very exciting kids. Kids don't generally like studies but my experience at Udayan Care was otherwise. While speaking to kids at the Sant Nagar home, I found them progressive both in academic and extra-curricular activities – an indicator of the free environment prevalent there. I saw kids taking keen interest in computers, music and arts. Small wonder some of the kids are studying in prestigious schools like DPS. More importantly, one unifying force around which gyrated blissfully all the kids, Dr. Modi, was always excited about expansion, which in this case meant shelter to the shelterless and solace to the discomforted. This, one could notice through the twinkle in her eyes and the concern in her voice.
A very well organized social enterprise with a very positive culture which brings lots of happiness and positive attitude to their girls. The girls were so happy to see us, they were singing along and very engaging. They all have smiles in their faces. Only when people are truly happy, do they show such happiness. We commend Udayan Care's work without any reservation. Dr Mary Han Dr Nikhil Celly
I have been a volunteer in Udayan Care for the past one year and it has been a wonderful experience for me thus far. I have been involved with the children staying there, in their studies and also their co-curricular activities. Udayan Care has always helped the children in every which way and provided them all their basic needs which is so satisfying for me as a volunteer because it is always great that a organization that you are working for, gives hundred percent effort in providing the children a brighter future.
I was excited to teach painting to the girls who had interest in painting and drawing.Four of the girls learnt the art forms seriously. They would look forward for the next session and always welcome me with bright smile. I was amazed to see the way these children are taken care by their mentor mothers and staff. I always found them very well behaved and well mannered.'Udayan care'relly takes care... It was a memorable experience for me.
I have known Udayan Care for the past 2 years and highly appreciate their outstanding performance and passionate involvement. Their involvement with the kids and their approach to care for their children as well as for the girls of the the Udayan Fellowship is remarkable. Their work is very important and deserves attention and support!
I've been knowing Udayan Care since April 2007 and the experience is wonderful.. I work in a Corporate and we meet the kids from Udayan Care every week, I've known the kids understood them and then I came to know its not just them its the power behind them that helps them to grow and nurture and fight back in life.. that power is Udayan Care .. the "Home" the people out there who are a family , the mentors and the mother mentor..
This is one of the few places I saw where the children where treated like ones parents would - and I found that very touching. Most organizations attempt to touch as many children as possible, which is a good thing if the quality of care is not compromised. So, its refreshing to find a place where children are given the best care possible. Its an utopian idea - but would love to see that happen everywhere. Havent been able to spend much time with Udayan as I would like - but that will be fixed with time !
We used to interact with kids from Udayan Care at CSC Noida premises. CSC is a software services and outsourcing company which is involved in many such activities with various other NGOs. I felt that the kids are well taken care of by the Udayan Care. I sometimes used to get amazed by the intelligence and wit of children. They were aged between eight and eighteen. Given an opportunity they can prove their mettle in any field. Though some of them lacked in terms of marks but overall they were capable beings. Some of them were distinctly good at co-curricular. Organizations like Udayan care are really instrumental in streamlining the population which has been left behind for some reason or the other. Even if some child were victims of tragedies, living in Udayan Ghars they regained hope and happiness and were able to forget the agony of past. Support from various organizations, healthcare professionals, educationist can help Udayan Care do their job better. It is more about the time you can devote for their cause- that will go an extra mile. Boys and Girls from Udayan Care, really enjoy interacting and spending time with people and it helps them gain confidence and feel being appreciated.
I came into contact with Udayan Care in 1999. I just graduated from university in Holland and wanted to do some volunteering abroad. Udayan Care provided that opportunity for me. And what an opportunity! It changed my life! I felt Udayan Care really made a difference in the world and I contributed a little! At that time it was a starting NGO and had managed to set up one home for girls and was starting on a second one for boys. I stayed and helped in the girls home (Sant Nagar) for six months and in that short period I saw a real change in the girls. About the same time that I arrived, there arrived two orphaned girls, just from the street and by the time I left they we were very well able to have an English conversation together! They both started in hindi schools, but one was already to be changed into the English medium school. They were accustomed to hygienic standards and they looked so different! They were happy and smiling and feeling safe. And they bonded so well with the other girls. And all of the girls were so fond of Kiran Modi, I just can't tell! Every day she used to come in herself to help teach the children and they all just almost hugged her to death every day again. They called her bua, which seems to mean something like aunt, but it looked more to what we in Europe would describe as motherlove. From both ways I must add. All the children were counselled so well in studies and with regard to social issues that in stead of being underprivileged children I would rather describe them as being so lucky. So lucky to have been given the opportunity to be mothered by Udayan Care, the closest one can get to happy family life outside a real family. I really cried when I left after al half year and I have been back twice to help out for a shorter period. Once in 2001 and once in 2005. By now some girls who lived with me in the girls home in 1999 have grown to be beautiful and independent girls with great future possibilities and who would have thought that when they were living as orphans?! I am so proud of them and I still feel so connected. I am also so proud to know Kiran Modi and to be able to tell the world about her and about Udayan Care, which has been growing ever since and has been changing the lifes of so many Indian children by now! There are a lot more homes now, but the idea is still the same: Family Life and love! And that pays out in the end!! I would recommend anyone, Indian and non-Indian, to spend some time in one of the Udayan Care Homes. Can you change the world? Yes you can! Together with Udayan Care you can! Together we can!!
I have been closely involved with UdayanCare since its inception. Having worked in poverty alleviation and international development for over twenty years, I was and still am so pleased with UdayanCare for its noble vision of empowering abandoned children and giving them the care and nurturing they need until they are able to face life with confidence and optimisn. What impresses me most about UdayanCare is its transparency and integrity. Around the world, I have seen and worked with NGOs and other organizations that do good, but often a lot of donor funding is wasted and very little reaches the actual beneficiaries. In UdayanCare, every penny is diverted for the cause it stands for: welfare of its children and other helpless young girls and boys. I have watched its growth from a hardly-known small outfit to what it is today, spreading its wings all over Delhi and beyond. The homes under UdayanCare have thrived under the efficient and selfless leadership of Dr. Kiran Modi, who I have known since 1980. The team of dedicated and loving volunteers and kind and caring staff and hordes of well-wishers make it a unique organization, one of its kind. I can say with confidence that UdayanCare is one of the best organizations I have come across in my career which has spanned several continents and over seventy countries. The children at UdayanCare are a proof of what they have accomplished. If I had to select the best NGO/organization dedicated to a noble cause, I would undoubtedly select UdayanCare!!
I have known UdayanCare for about 10 years now. It is different. There is rare passion, commitment and dedication. Anyone who has seen this organisation just fell for it. It has great achievements to its credit. The efficient GHARS are real homes for the children. The Udayan Shalini program has given hope to many, I think it has about 1200 girls getting handsome scholarships today. The Mento mothers, Volunteers, Volunteer committees all are a class apart. Its Board and major donors are again totally committed. And above all the rare Managing Trustee who lives UdayanCare every minute-who has given her all to the children she cares for. Simply amazing.
Udayan Care welcomed me with warm and welcome arms eg. by showing me around, offering me a place to sleep and answering all my questions. After our meeting our contact has been very stable and informative. I am still very impressed with the values of the organisation and to see how happy the children were,
I am volunteering with Udayan Care since August this year. This organization is one of the very few who are fully committed to their cause. They not only provide homes for the under privileged, but also provides them an opportunity for their overall development. I was amazed to know that its children are studying in some of the most prominent schools of India, like Delhi Public School. The organization has touched and changed many lives and I am sure it would continue to do so in future. I would strongly recommend working with this organization as i trust it.
Everything about Udayan Care is very professionaland well organized. But more than that, it is visionary and compassionate. The reports of the children, the activities organized for them and the personal coaching provided for them make it truly exemplary.
I am committed to be a life long supporter and benefactor to Udayan care. The calibre of care for the children, dedication of staff and volunteers at Udayan Care is exemplary. They are true to their mission statement in every which way.
My husband and I spent 2 weeks living and working at Jag Shanti. Udayan Care is a family not just an orphanage. Children are given love and dignity along with the basic human needs. The girls are positive and forward looking. All are working to get the best education possible so that they can be self-supporting and eventually give back to Udayan Care. Tutoring is provided if requested. The philosophy is to give children all the care, love and opportunities any parent would hope to give their child. Counseling is provided for those in need. All children live in multi-age groups 4 or 5 to a room, each with a bed, desk and closet of their own. The older girls help with the younger. The staff are excellent providing good meals, hugs and advice. Words that come to mind when thinking of Udayan Care are hope, dignity, respect and love. It's a model for other orphanages.
I have had tremendous experiences with Udayan Care. Living and working in one of the ghars for the past two summers, I have seen firsthand what an amazing organization it is. I have continued to work with them because I have been so impressed by the quality of care that they give their children. Consistent with their mission, each child that goes through any of their programs gets all of the advantages and care that the members of the organization would give to their own children. They give the children, who have come from some of the most dire situations possible, every advantage that they can and make sure that all of their needs, from psychological to physical to emotional, are met. I have seen first hand what amazing children this program helps, and the girls at the Jag Shanti Udayan Care ghar have come to mean a lot to me. They are some of the most extraordinary people in the world. They have taught me so much and greatly enriched my life. They deserve the best, and from Udayan Care, that's what they get.
i am associated with udayan care since XI class as a fellow of first batch(2002) of Udayan Shalini Fellowship that was the time when i met Kiran mam, Vikramm sir for the first time and i learned the concept of shalini since then i never turned back USF helped me in finding my strengths the workshops here are excellent. and the support provided by the mentors is very helpful. The journey continues from a mentee to a mentor didi and now a mentor along with being a member of the core committee. Its 7years now and this whole period was a very enjoyable, learning one. All the time that I have spent here in workshop, social awareness campaigns, interacting with the mentee is great. all the people here are so determined and they are always ready to help the fellows. I am proud to be a part of such an organization and I am really going to miss everyone when I will be going to Infosys in December.
I was one of beneficiaries at Udayan Care from 2002 to 2006, I think I am the one, who has spent the shortest time in Udayan care and have gained the maximum in her life. One thing which I have learnt from Udayan Care and importantly from Dr. Kiran Modi, the founder and hopes for many children, that nothing is impossible in life , if your motive is simply helping the needy one. “Sounds simple but becomes difficult when someone practices”. Kiran aunty is the woman who taught me to say “thank” you when I receive any help and “excuse me” to the people who thinks I am alone. I came in Udayan care when I was almost 19 years of my age, considered as a very dangerous age, if you are a girl and alone in a developing country like India, and that time there was no provision for keeping adult girls in Udayan Care, despite of little opposition from board members Kiran aunty took the decision of keeping me. In my opinion that decision was the hardest decision, keeping an adult girl with the toddlers is not a good idea and very difficult to manage, but she did it through right counseling and having trust on me. I will not deny the fact that I was not hurt by my past, but the past became past, that very day when, Kiran aunty took the decision of keeping me in Udayan Care. My journey of hard work began since then. However now, when I compare myself with others, I see more confidence in me and the thrust of doing something different in life. I did my Bachelors from correspondence mode, while I was in Jagshanti home (Udayan Care) under the wonderful guidance of Brigadier Narang (Managing Director) who is a tough man with strong motivation skills. However, after leaving Udayan Care, I started asking myself the real motive of my life, then I realized, I always wanted to be like Kiran aunty and which is only possible through education, and luckily I got admission in top most University of Malaysia, now I am in verge of finishing my M.phill in Strategic studies, I have a dream of doing PhD. However, after achieving my set goal and if I have the ability to make difference in people’s life I want to do that. I know I can never become like Kiran aunty who, is simply an angle. But I am sure my dream of becoming something little more than, what I was when I came in Udayan care will surely make her happy. I don’t know whether many of us in Udayan Ghar have realized or not, or whether they share the same aspiration as I do. Before coming to Kiran aunty, our live were like blank notebooks, she filled the dates and gave us the reasons to celebrate every achievement of ours, be it small or big and made us love ourselves and taught us to be happy and make others happy. Thank you for making our lives readable to ourselves. May god give you strength and energy to fill as many as blank notebooks with the virtue of your kind appearance and love, which is hard to describe in words and I mean it!!!
I've had the pleasure of volunteering with Udayan Care and getting to know the wonderful children. My memories of the time spent there are filled with joy and warmth that I received from all the members of the Udayan Community. It's an experience that I will always keep close to my heart and look forward to sharing more precious moments with Udayan Family in the future.
Ever since I first met with Udayan Care people, I have felt so much love and passion for what they are doing. Dr. Kiran Modi is an eternal sunshine that glows a special energy and passes that to everyone who gets involved. It has been a wonderful time for me to stay and volunteer at Udayan Care, visit and stay at the ghars and spend some unforgettable moments with the smiling girls I had the chance to get to know. I always love to come back!
I looked hard to find a charitable organization in India that was high trustworthy that I could give to. An associate of mine in India recommended Udayan Care. I also traveled from the U.S. and visited Udayan Care in the summer of 2008. I was impressed to learn how deeply they care for children and women's education. They are a well-balanced organization supporting a variety of programs. They also receive volunteers from all over the world. While there, I met volunteers from the Czech Republic, Scotland, England, and Princeton University in the U.S.
I can just say I loved it - staying with the grils at Jagshanti Udayan Care was precious time after a long journey through India - a country of diversity!
I spent a month volunteering at Udayan Care during the summer of 2008. Being a high school student from the U.S., I was really surprised with what I saw at Udayan Care. The staff is a surrogate family for the girls and you can clearly see the genuine feeling of love they have for each other. Udayan Care is doing a great thing by giving girls a chance to receive a great education that they would not have received otherwise. Instead of just throwing money at the problem, the people at Udayan Care give the girls the basic tools they need to succeed later on in life. Keep up the good work!
i got to know Udayan Care through a friend of mine. what struck me most about Udayan Care was the passion and commitment of its, relatively small staff, who were able to move mountains for the women and children who found a home with them. personally, love, guidance and time the staff and the volunteers shower on the children was an eye-opener. at udayan care it isn't about a hand out but a hand up from the earliest stages...these children are taught the righ value systems and are given the resources that will make them independent, self reliant and contributing members of society. i was glad that my daughter had the opportunity to volunteer at and spend time in udayan care meeting and interacting with the kids. it's nonprofit organization with a big heart!
Living in the western world, believing that most of my achievements were reached, changed the day, I became a part of the Udayan Care family. Udayan Care creates as a NGO, hope and futures for children, by focusing on individual goals. Each child gets a second chance in life, and that fact, combined with presents and love from the involved, good hearted and responsible staff, makes it impossible to put down in words, what Udayan Care represents. It is something big, something beautiful, something you got to be a part of to understand. As a volunteer, I have realized that no matter where you live in this world, and how privileged you are, we all have the same basic needs in life. Needs you cant fill up with money only. Udayan Care fills up thir children with pure love, that is making a difference in 2009, I think. Thank you so much all of you.
I am not much of a writer but I am writing here because I feel strongly for Udayan and the cause it stands for and the true efforts being made here to provide the underpriviliged kids a bright new tomorrow. I have been associated with Udayan for more than a year now and it has been a very fulfilling and wonderful journey. I have been to Udayan Homes in Noida and Gurgaon and interacted with the little angels there and appreciate the overall effort being made to by one and all at Udayan to make sure the little ones have a bright and secure tomorrow. As an organization I appreciate the culture of Udayan which I find is very open, transparent and the Udayan team always open for new ideas and avenues which can help / assist the organisation. Udayan welcomes one and all with arms wide open who feel for the cause and want to make a difference no matter how big or small. I wish them all the luck - now and forever.
I consider Udayan Care, a very transparent and accountable organization. It believes on what it does. The passion and spirit it shows in their work for child rights, it is amazing.
Udayan Care provides platform to the underpriviledge kids. Kids will change the face of our country, thats the reason I am so much involved.
My experience of working with Udayan Care has been what is called inexpressable and it will remain with me as an asset throughout my life to cherish upon it.
I am working with Udayan Care from last 2.5 years and I like their transparency, commitment and devotion for the cause
udayan care i want to say something about this fellowship this fellowship is a great opportunity for every girl who are the member of this fellowship.i am also very lucky that i am the member of this fellowship.this helps me in every field of my life.
Amazing!!!!!! The dedication and commitment of the organization is truelly changing the lives of the children. There should be more of Such organizations!
I had a wonderful experience with the girls at the home in Noida. As a future elementary school teacher, I learned so many different things from the girls. They taught me patience, understanding and appreciation for another culture, and made me realize that teaching is truly what I want to do in life. One difficult thing for me with my experience was not being able to bring as much creativity to the girls as I would have liked. The education system in India is very different than the United States and I found it hard sometimes to adjust. I also found that I could not find a way to communicate with some of the higher up people that came to our home because of our differences. I feel like I didn't understand exactly their point of view and they did not take time to understand mine. I do, however, realize that I was in their home; not the other way around. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and I think about the girls very often.
It has been great helping out at udayan care. They are doing a great job with the kids. It's such a great feeling to see these kids have a home and someone to call their own. Have a sense of belonging.Have a family of their own.Get an education that is out of reach of many.At the end of it stand on their own feet and even help others. It is a very satisfying experience.
the year with udayan care was the most memorable time in my life...i was living and working in the greater noida girls home. the girls welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home. the kids are adorable, just amazing. it was a great experience to get to know a complete different country, tradition and life...the way how udayan care works with so much passion, love and compassion is really impressiv. i am proud to became a didi and a member of the udayan care family. they will always have a special place in my heart. keep on going udayan care, you all are incredible!
I first came to udayan care in the March of 2008 to volunteer for their Noida Boys centre and I was amazed with the kind of facilities, love and affection that was given to the kids there. The staff over here treated every one as an extended family, and they have that culture too..everyone's name ends with udayan. Also, Kiran Mam the managing trustee encouraged me to take the initiative so I also started the social media campaign of the NGO..starting from the blog to twitter. It has really been my utmost pleasure to be associated with the organisation and I hope this association continues forever.
Being associated with Udayan has been an enriching experience. The spirit of the organization gets reflected in the positive attitude of the children under their care. The efforts being made by the organization to secure the children’s basic rights to food, shelter, emotional warmth and education are commendable. The happy faces that I get to see there every time I visit, speak highly of the support system being provided to the children. I wish all the children good luck and appreciate the great job that the people at Udayan are doing!
I have been associated with Udayan Care as a volunteer with The Teach India Movement-A Times Of India initiative for more than a year now. This has been one of the most enriching experiences in my working life-it is not only about my contribution to the kids in subjects like English, Mathematics, General Knowledge, History & Science;this is also about my learnings from these kids. I have been amazed and impressed with the go-getting positive attitude the kids display,my bset wishes for all the teachers and people associated with imbibing these kids with such beliefs-i am sure this will go a long way in helping each one of them excel in their individual lives. It would be an honour to continue helping in whatever small ways possible. My best wishes for the people mentoring these kids.

I taught at the udyaan home in Noida sector-51 and was really amazed with the udyaan care people. They gave their best to fulfill the needs of the children. Be it the girls' birthdays or the weekends, they used to be with them leaving all their personal works. They made them enter into good schools and used to be really happy if the girls excelled in some or the activity or subject. I am planning to go again if i get time.
udayan care not only look after the orphan children but also care and give love , more than wat a normal child gets from his family.childern in udayan never feel like they don't have parents because they get so much love here that they don't have space to keep that much love. Here we get different oppurtunities to excel in life .Mentor mothers who are not our real mother but they always try to fulfil their duties by giving us love, moral values about life and eperiences.
The 3 years that i have spent with Udayan Care have been extremely emotional and fulfilling for me. I have worked with several organisations before but the level of emotional commitment that i have seen here is incomparable. Although i am just an employee here, the affection and warmth that i have received not only from the children but also from the Mentor Mothers/ Fathers and my Managing Trustee, Dr. Kiran Modi, has made me feel a part of the Udayan family. Today I feel for them, i pray for their success and strive to give my best to them.
udayan care is what every child need for thier motivation and to make their future. My experiance about udayan care is realy wonderful and fantastic.udayan care kids are getting nice education and motivation which is needed by a normal child. udayan care gives a family feeling to each and every child. it is more than a ghar. Those children who cannot see the dreams udayan care teaches them to dream and teaches how to make thier dream come true. udayan care encourages the children to choose thier dream and work upon it and it gives suitable vocational training according to the aim chosen.
I am associated with udayan care for the past 4 years, getting a fellowship under USF programme.its not just the financial assistance which is helpful but moreover the mentor system and the workshops which provided me with the much needed motivation and enthusiasm to move ahead in life.
I became a part of the udayancare family in '07. What drew me [and most people] is Dr. Kiran Modi's warm ethusiasm and passionate energy for the cause to wich she has dedicated her life.It envelopes the whole organization right from the children to the volunteers!one visit to an Udayancare Ghar and you are completely in awe of the lady when you see the happy and confident children.Their past traumas are all forgotten !
My wife and I began volunteering for Udayan Care in November 2003 and did so until August 2005. We visited each of the five homes every week teaching English and Family Values. Kiran Modi and Vikram Dutt welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like part of the team. One of our assignments was to help the children realize that they had a family (the Udayan Family) with brothers and sisters and wonderful mentor mothers who really cared about them. We soon came to love the children and being with them. They became and extension of our own grandchildren and we still communicate with some of them via Facebook. It was truly a great experience to know and love these children and there we learned what real charity is; the pure love of Jesus Christ. We have the deepest respect and love for Kiran Modi and for Vikram Dutt who give tirelessly their time and resources for these children. It is gratifying to learn that some of them have progressed to adulthood and are studying for careers. We love them and miss them. I would encourage anyone who has the time and/or resources to become involved with this worthy organization. I know that all money received by Udayan Care goes to benefit the children and their education.
I am from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I came to know of Udayan Care through a friend in Delhi while looking for an international placement for my 4th year practicum to complete my under-graduate degree in Social Work from the University of Victoria. Having been a long-term public service employee of the Provincial Government in Vancouver within child protection, I was curious to know and understand how social work was conducted in India and what kinds of social programs were available (if any) to those in need, compared to the West. I spent close to 3 months with the agency and was absolutely astonished at the quantity and quality of services provided to children, youth, and community. I commend Dr. Kiran Modi for her passion, commitment and leadership and the staff, mentors, volunteers, professionals, and sponsors who have dedicated themselves to the various programs supported by Udayan Care, in several regions. Each of their efforts is making enormous, positive impacts on the lives of those who are most vulnerable and unfortunate in the communities.
Udayan Care has an energy about it that is difficult to explain - it just has to be experienced. Their approach to working with children is unique, interesting and intelligent.
I have known Udayan Care for over a decade now and the people working here are most humble i have ever seen. They are all very passionate and deeply commited to the cause. Mary Kay Cosmetics is very proud to be assocaited with Udayan Care as we know that our contribution will really reach it's beneficiaries and someone's life will be enriched in real. Keep up the great work Udayan Care !!
i was fortunate enough to come across Udayan and was even more fortunate to spend almost couple of weeks with the boys and trust me its the most amazing days in my life. after that i am in regular touch with the boys and never missed an opportunity to either visit them or get in touch with them thru phone and mails. i really impressed the way Udayan groom the boys. on my first visit, i approached the boys with a lot of apprehensions that how they will react, what will be their state of mind, but to my surprise the confidence level and the pride of the boys are amazing and it is because the culture Udayan follow. its an overwhelming experience whenever i visited or talked to them coz the love and affection they shown on me really very touching.
My three month time at the Udayan Care Greater Noida home was one of the greatest and most challenging times of my life. I taught English to the younger girls at the Greater Noida home in the morning and helped the older girls with their homework in the afternoon. I had never had teaching experience, so I was faced with a challenging task. I didn't know where to start or what exactly to do when I was given a class of girls to teach English to. I think I could have been given a bit more guidance in exactly what to do, but I eventually did figure it out. However, I feel time would have been saved if there had been a clear idea of what was expected. Although the girls tested my patience throughout, I fell in love with all of them and have missed them since I left. Seeing the happiness on their faces when they went to events instantly made anyone around them feel their joy as well. The events organized by Udayan Care are great. They allow all the children a time to come together and have fun. They have I don't know if things have changed, but one thing I did notice was how the girls in Greater Noida were not always included in some of the events, I think due to their distance from Delhi. Writing this comment about my experience with Udayan Care makes me immediately want to go back to India. I hope with writing this, I become more involved with Udayan Care because it is truly an amazing organization.
I volunteered with Udayan care in the year of 2007 for a month and a half and even till today, still speak highly of the amazing experience i had. I volunteered with the home in the Noida area, in the boys home. I was welcomed with open arms from my first step at the airport until my departure. The boys home in Noida has now become my second family almost, and i still keep in contact with the mother and father at that home, Rita and Birender. The love and utmost care for these children can be sensed without even speaking a word. Kiran Modi and and her entire organization are such dedicated and passionate people. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
I volunteered for a month for Udayan Care in February 2006. It was a life changing experience I will never forget, and am excited to be able to come back and volunteer again in the near future. I can't say enough about the care, concern and professionalism of this organization. I have volunteered in other orphanages and homes in other countries and in no way could they compare to how well run all the homes within Udayan Care are. In fact, I was spoiled by the outstanding care and passion the staff (and Kiran Modi) portray. I went to other orphanages around the world expecting the same standard of care and concern, and didn't find it. Not only do they hold the utter most concern for the children in their care, but are also fiercely protective of their volunteers are well, and also have their best interests at heart. ple who make up Udayan Care are.
I am on the advisory board of an organization here in the US called Home of hope inc. I was in charge of overseeing our contribution to Udayan Care and I have to say that I have not seen a more dedicated passionate person than Dr. Kiran Modi. She started and has now nurtured with the help of q committed staff, an organization which has single handidly taken care of hungreds of children who otherwise would have been on the street. Udayan care has set a worthy example of how to nurture vulnerable citizens of our community into healthy loved and caring and self sustaining individuals!
This is organization where i have found the great care for children( studies, parental love, activities). The organization is very much involved with the children and their aspirations. And putting their(Udayan) 100% to fulfill that. May god bless all of them.
I have been a volunteer at MG road Shelter Home. I am so impressed with the special attention that the mentor mothers give to these homes. The organization is doing a great job in giving the children a prosperous career ahead. Some of the students are studying at best schools in Delhi like Sanskriti, and availing the best facilities. The NGO recognizes the potential of every child and gives them a fair chance to hone their skills, and identify their strengths. Kids interact with confidence and their communication skills are comparable to the best of their age. I wish them all the best in their endeavor.
I have been associated with Udayan Care since May 2007 and it's been a real learning experience for me. I visited Ms Kiran Modi maa'm my friend Dr. Savleen as volunteers. We started visiting Sant Nagar home in New Delhi. Interaction with children, with mentor mother and other volunteer all has been a real enriching for me. These small children make you learn (relearn) so many things about your life that you have forgotten. I was acting as teacher of Nancy - a class IX girl and she is just faboulous and teaches me more about myself, my weaknesses and my behaviour. Other children like Rekha, Kiran and Mamta are also very good. The organisation takes care of children in a very structure way. Homes have all the facilities that any child can aspire for. All children have assigned duties so that they can feel responsible. In a country like India, when we can see thousands of orphans roaming around on roads, this organisation is a small but very right step in right direction. Thanks for allowing me to be part of this family.
Something which cannot be expressed in words. It was a mind blowing and a very fulfilling experience. The warmth, the connection and the welcome I received from the little angels was something very moving. The enthusiasm and the pride with which they took me around to their rooms, their play ground, their kitchen and dining hall was something which I cannot write in words. We can learn a lot from these children of lesser God, who are happy, hopeful and contented and live together as a big family. One small step towards them can make you see the gratitude on their faces. I just fell in love with them
My name is Wenka and i'm from Holland. I had the honour to be the first foreign Volunteer, in the first year of Udayan Care's existence. I have worked with Dr Kiran Modi for 6 months and to me it was a life changing experience. The dedication not only she but her whole family and support group has shown is amazing. Not succeeding in het mission of creating a home, a family and a future for the children of Udayan Care was never an option. I was there in the first girls home and i am so proud to see what the organisation Udayan Care has achieved and created up until now. There is no doubt in my mind that Dr Kiran Modi herself and Udayan Care have made a difference not only for the children but for India as a country. To quote a famous saying: "Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire"
I was aware of ‘Udayan Care’ only four years ago by an accidental meet with Dr. Kiran Modi who is the Managing Trustee. Her personality and her commitment to the cause were evident to me from my first meeting. I voluntarily got involved with the activities of ‘Udayan Care’ and I learned more and gradually I discovered how emotionally the children of their homes were cared and the mentoring that was provided to the Shalini Fellowship girls which was far more than just extending financial support. Because of this I got emotionally involved and started participating in their events and assisting ‘Udayan Care’ in whatever little way I could on a regular basis. It was sheer delight to see some of the children who were grown in these houses and how they have emerged as self confident with aspiration and waiting to perform their role in the society. When these children and Shalini Fellowship girls address Dr. Kiran Modi as ‘Kiran Bhua’ one has to see their emotion and experience how they feel about it.
I was a volunteer for a few months and was sent to the girls home in Greater Noida. I was so impressed with the way the children there were given love and structure and education. They were all so polite and delightful and I loved being called Susan Auntie! Whenever I have been back to visit, they see me and come running, calling 'Susan Auntie'. The programmes that have been set up,such as the 'udayan ghar' and 'mentor mother' work so well for the girls and it was wonderful to see how the older girls are progressing on to higher education. Kiran Modi is doing an amazing job thanks to her hard work and perseverance. Susan Segal, London
I'm from Ireland and went to India to volunteer with Udayan Care, I went with only one other girl. We were very nervous going over to India as we were both only 18 and it was our first time away from our families for that long. But once we met with Kiran Modi we felt relaxed. We volunteered in the boys home in Noida for five weeks and after the first few days we felt like it was our home! I think this is a brilliant organization as it gives so many girls and boys a better chance in life and is raising them to become wonderful and smart people. The organization is also so welcoming to volunteers, they understand how its hard for volunteers being in such a different country and helped us out in seeing the beautiful places in India. I am so proud to have helped with this organization, it gave me a chance to help others and learn more about myself. I hope with all my heart that I will get a chance to volunteer with Udayan Care again as I met some of the greatest people in the world while volunteering with them.
i have been associated with udayan care since 2001 and it's been a real pleasure to see the organization grow so well under kiran's passionate leadership. the grassroot level support provided by UC to the children is commendable. the unique 'udayan ghar' and 'mentor mother' model has been successfully proven. it UC is able to attract more managerial talent, sky is the limit for them .. and the benefits to society at large! power to the entire udayan care family and kiran - who's passion is inspiring.
They give a total homely environment to children. Their individual attention to children is what attrected me towards this organisation. Thanks Nitin
I had a great time at Udayan Care. As a volunteer I worked with the girls in the Greater Noida area. I remember entering the place for the first time and all the girls, ages between 3 and 20 years old, came up to me and welcomed me. Although overwhelming, it was a great way to get 'on board'. I applaud Udayan care for the professional way they support both the children and the communities they are in contact with. By providing proper education for these girls and also a warm home, they make a difference in these childrens lives. The way they engage there partners, childeren, staff and volunteers shows that they know what doing. And they are doing a great job!
I came to know about Udayan Care through a close friend, Dr. Shiv Sarin. One visit to the Udayan Ghar at Sant Nagar showed me a novel method adopted for providing parenting and family bonding to abandoned girls. Here was an organization committed through a well knit group of dedicated mentor mothers/volunteers to make these disadvantaged children confident and capable of facing the world on their own terms. The girls at Sant Nagar were brimming with confidence and determination to do well in life. The motto of Udayan Care, "Empathy, Education, Empowerment" could be seen visible in the various activities/steps being taken to nurture these children. From then onwards I have been closely associated with the activities of Udayan Care.
Having worked for almost 10 years in developmental sector, I sincerely hope that Udyan Care has actually set the ethics of developmental work by adopting disadvantaged children and doing some concrete work. The most satisfying aspect is the high quality of care which a child gets in these adoption homes. ( I have visited one of the homes) My only concern is that as the number of disadvantaged children are increasing day by day and quality adoption homes are very few, it has to be seen that in the coming days what strategy Udyan Care adopts to reach the vast population of disadvantaged children and bring smile on their faces.
I am one of the beneficiaries of Udayan Care, Ghar(HOME)Programme. I have successfully put my personal traumas behind and decided to move ahead in life with the help of wonderfull mentor mothers ïŠ My career progressed through a positive mental health program; good education and professional training. A degree in Hospitality Management from Rai University won her a place in the workforce in the UK. On my return, I joined the prestigious Oberoi group of hotels, moving later to the Country Inn group of hotels. My heart was however in the career that I subsequently chose – “Making a difference in the lives of those deprived of the joys of childhood.” Everything else followed: the Swasthi Foundation for Education out of my UK savings; the switchover from the glamorous hospitality industry to the more meaningful NGO sector. I formally joined Udayan Care as a resource mobilizer and also Executive Assistant to the Managing Trustee. Having been a beneficiary of Udayan Care in the past, my thought process is more in tune with the children in the Udayan Care homes than those who have never experienced such traumas (works very differently) and my decisions have made a positive impact at the grass root level.
