I'm so glad I joined NSCS! In a tough year, it has been a source of education, connection and hope. They truly care about students and offer a wide variety of resources: classes, events, scholarships, mentors, leadership summits, partnerships with other organizations (e.g., resume reviews, internships, jobs, etc). They will support you and push you to excel.

What I gained most from attending my Induction Ceremony was exactly how many opportunities there are with this organization. When I first heard about National Society of Collegiate Scholars, I did not think I would be interested in joining. I did not feel that there would be that much for me to succeed with. I felt that this organization would not have that many things that I would be interested in or would like doing. Boy, was I so off. I did some more research on this organization and found out that it might actually be something I am interested and will actually enjoy very much. I attended the first general body meeting and felt excited and eager about all of the new, amazing opportunities. This made my excitement for the Induction Ceremony very immense, and I could not wait to attend it. I learned a lot from attending the Induction Ceremony. I gained even more knowledge about the different opportunities that this organization has to offer. The opportunity that stuck out to me the most from the Induction Ceremony was Outreach Love. My major is Elementary Education, so I am constantly working with children. Ever since I was old enough to volunteer, I have been doing that. I have tutored young children in various subjects like math, reading and writing, helped them with art, taught them songs and dances, helped them become more confident on stage, just be their friend, giving them advice and be someone to lend an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. This event would be a perfect fit for me. Not only is it flexible with every other Saturday, but it is rewarding too. I really enjoyed how at the Induction Ceremony they showed in depth videos of this event and everything they do, what they have to offer and what it stands for. The Induction Ceremony made me more excited for this upcoming year and all of the things the National Society of Collegiate Scholars has to offer, especially with Outreach Love. I am so excited to get involved and learn more about myself and working with children. There was more than one aspect of Induction that made me want to attend. The first reason I wanted to attend was to pick up the pin that I earned. I have been so excited to receive it and I was so happy to finally have it in person. I immediately sent pictures of me wearing it to my parents who could not make the Induction Ceremony, and I can not wait to wear it at graduation to show another milestone and organization I was able to take part in during my time here at the University of Central Florida. That aspect coincides with taking pictures. I was grateful I got dressed up nicely so I could take pictures of myself and my peers at the event to reminisce about this memorable event. I also wanted to attend the ceremony to meet other people in this organization. I did not really know anyone when attending meetings, I normally went by myself. Going to Induction helped me meet a ton of people with the same interests as me. Also, networking is so important and this organization is another great way to meet people. The last aspect that made me want to attend was knowing that I would leave with more information about this organization, how to stay involved, and how to help others. There are so many different activities and socials this organization holds that has something for everyone to do, and something that interests everyone. From attending the Induction Ceremony, I learned so much about Outreach Love alone. Many videos were displayed during Induction with actual volunteers, and actual children in the program. It was nice to see how this program is making a difference in these children’s lives, and that when I will start to volunteer, I know I can do the same with these children. Something more I would have liked to see was maybe some people who have graduated from UCF that were in this organization. I think it would have been cool if alumni from UCF and NSCS came to speak at the Induction Ceremony to give back, and speak about their time in this organization and how it made their college experience enjoyable. Also how it could have possibly changed their life for the better, and how. I was so lucky to be welcomed into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and so happy that I attended the induction ceremony.

This society has been very helpful in some many ways. The leaders here have a great sense of humor in explaining and clarifying me in areas of difficulty especially on how I can access some of the available scholarship.
As a member of this society, it added plus to my resume, and am glad I accepted the offer to be a member of this noble society. I hope to impact the younger generation positively on everything I have learnt so far from this society.

This is a great organization, but in order to get benefits, you have to put in effort and be involved in your chapter. I have never won any of the “many scholarships” they offer. Which I think sucks on their behalf. But I have made friends being apart of this achievement. Which is always a win.

I joined this club at the end of my freshman year and have gotten more involved in it this past year. As an officer for my university's chapter, I help organize and participate in social events, volunteer opportunities and professional skill development workshops for NSCS members. Not only do club members get to interact and make friends with their peers, but by participating in volunteer opportunities they can give back to their community, or they can develop their own skill sets by attending NSCS workshops. Overall, this is an excellent club with various opportunities for its members.

I have enjoyed seeing all of the scholarship opportunities that are available to me. It seems overwhelming to pay such a high price for education. I want to wear my NSCS stole to graduation so my kids can see what an honor it was to me and that no matter what obstacles are in your way, you can do it. I did it while raising 5 kids. Anything is possible.

It's alright. You pay $90 to get a fancy title and the opportunity at more scholarships. However this is not a pay to win kind of system, You still have to put the work in to find scholarships and apply for them. In addition I personally haven't seen very many scholarships that are widely accessible by everyone.
I'm not saying to not join, but before you do you should definitely take a look at what NSCS REALLY has to offer you. Go look at their scholarship page and see if you would actually benefit from those opportunities or not.

NSCS is one of my favorite organizations at my campus. After my first semester at UIC, I got a mail that congrats me for outstanding academic performance and being nominated to join NSCS. I thought it is the same as any other honor organization. However, in my university, we have an involvement fair day, so I meet one of the board members from UIC Chapter, and she started to take about it and how important each event for our community and more. Then, I decided to join. Joining NSCS is not just to be a part of honor society but to leave a legacy in each community service you participate in and develop your leadership. Besides, they provide many scholarships and internships. For pre-med, NSCS has a study abroad program for the summer that involves real experience in a hospital.

My favorite part is the Induction because I felt that I join a new family who cares and leaves a legacy and winning NSCS New Member Award.
