SFL is truly a Godsend. The daily zoom exercise classes, the writing workshops, nutrition lessons and wonderful connections with my fellow cancer survivors/patients have really helped me get through the pandemic. Debbie Hughes is a Wonder Woman, managing to keep us all fit, safe and united while having to remain physically distant. One day she will earn the gold medal she so deserves. This is a wonderful and vital organization.
I attended the wellness retreat this past weekend was just amazed at the dedication these ladies had to helping us through a very rough time in our lives. The information provided to us was so helpful and the support system created was just priceless to me. A cancer diagnosis can be a very scary thing. Even though I am lucky enough to have the support of friends and family, this group provided the missing piece of the puzzle I needed to help me through.
Yesterday morning I drove 3 hrs for what I thought was a yoga retreat. I was pleasantly surprised for much more than that. There were classes on health and wellness through natural living, strength training, Zumba, yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Guided mediation and imagery, a group Reiki healing, more classes on chiropractic care and Feng Shui. Not to mention we were well fed throughout the day and blessed with many caring volunteers to help guide us through the activities.
It might be diffcult to believe that was one day since they packed so much in there. I had to retire as soon as it was done to get some well deserved rest in bed. I have two small children, 2 and 5, so I cherish sleep when I can get it. The hotel room was peaceful and pleasantly posh. Knowing that I didn't have to clean up a huge mess after a long day was even more comforting. I slept like a baby.
After breakfast on Sunday, I did a work out on the elliptical in the gorgeous gym. We had a group water ballet class and said our goodbyes. It was over so quickly, but the bonds built this weekend will last. I have a whole new group of women that I can help support and lean on when needed. Cancer can be very isolating. As a young survivor, I don't know women my age that I can relate to on this level.
This retreat has come at a time when I needed it most. Several months after reconstruction and a year out from my last chemo, anxiety has been difficult to manage. I've been working as much as possible to catch up with debts incurred during treatment and through several surgeries. Exercise has been difficult to fit in with the cold weather, caring for two little ones, and house work. A weight has been lifted. Now I possess more tools for finding "Strength for life". It was so much more than just a yoga retreat. I can't thank them enough for this life enriching experience.
I had a very rare cancer called leiomyosarcoma of my abdomen and belly. I was diagnosed in dec of 2012. I spent almost a month in the hospital. i had a tumor the size of a melon and a kidney removed. I spent most of the year of 2013 getting very aggressive chemo every week and trying to recover from the major surgery i had. I am so grateful to be alive and count my blessings every day. Meetin jacqui, Debbie and everyone else on the wellness retreat weekend was one of the best things that has happened. I met wonderful people from all over and we all learned a lot from each other. The love and support everyone shared was incredible. I was there Feb8-9 2014. Thank you jacqui and Debbie for making this possible looking forward to many events in the future. Jamie Flecker
I had the pleasure of attending a fitness weekend get away about 3 years ago with Strength For Life. It was an amazing weekend filled with activities and good times. It was comfortable to workout with others going thru treatment and not feeling like the odd man out at the gym. The weekend gave me the boost I needed to start working out again, which is exactly what I needed to regain my inner strength. Thank you!
I am a breast cancer survivor. In 2011 I had surgery and radiation treatments which left me sore and stiff. I found myself not able to move as well as before and I was becoming more and more sedentary because all my joints were aching and stiff. The Strength For Life exercise class helped me get myself moving again and the stiffness, aches and pains have lessened by a lot. More importantly, Strength For Life got me started on a path to know that I must keep moving and stretching in order to function better in my life as I move forward. I now realize that fact and have become adamant that I exercise each day and do whatever I can to keep myself moving. It's my new lifestyle. Thank you Jacqui Errico!
I was not able to complete classes due to private reasons. Nevertheless, It was a great experience to meet Jacqui and learn how important is exercise for our recovery.
Jacqui helped me get moving after my cancer treatment. She showed me various ways to stretch and excersise. Even though I was in a class, she has the abbility to make me feel like I was thoe only one she was coaching.
I am a four year cancer survivor and this is the second time I took Strength for Life. I previously took this program in early 2012 when I was recovering from implant reconstruction and had different issues than now. This program has helped me a great deal after surgery last winter for DIEP flap surgery. Jacqui gave myself and everyone individualized attention and reminds us of "listening to our bodies". There are some exercises that I was unable to do in the beginning of the sessions and now I am able to complete them with little discomfort. I will continue to do the exercises that I am able to do at home slowly and looking forward to the photos to remind me" the correct placement of the bands". I highly recommend Strength for Life and was pleased that the ladies that I recommended the program to found Strength for Life beneficial. Great program a must for cancer survivors.
I am so glad that I attended the Wellness Retreat with Jacqui, Debbie and the volunteers. The ladies were friendly, non-judgemental, helpful and fun to be with. The weekend was well planned out with great classes which included zumba, strength training, guest speakers on naturopathic medicine, white lotus massage, yoga, reiki. I especially enjoyed the zumba-gentle moves ,learning about Feng Shu and The Green Belt Trail. I listened to my body and did the exercises I was able to do. I can't wait for the reunion. Jacqui and Debbie you are phenonemal.
My name is Teresa Doherty and I am a breast cancer survivor. I attended strength for life's 1st weekend wellness retreat and I was blown away at what they had to offer to cancer patients and survivors at NO COST. It was a weekend filled with peace, love and compassion. Debbie and Jaqui and all the others who gave their time that weekend were amazing in making me feel inspired, strengthened and empowered. I now understand why that is their mantra. It was exactly what at needed in my healing journey at that time. I was so impressed with their mission and what they offered to cancer patients that I knew I had to get involved. I wanted to pay it forward and help others like myself get the information about complimentary therapies and experience them first hand so I asked to help out at the following retreats doing Reiki, which I am certified. The rest is history... I now have my husband involved with fundraising and also he is the entertainment at the yearly SFL "Rockin FunRaiser". I am proud to say I am a Board Member and totally dedicated to helping this amazing organization help many other cancer patients!
I am an Appendix Cancer survivor and I attended the Strength For Life Wellness Retreat in Hauppauge. What an experience. Thank you Jacqui for thinking of me and inviting us when there was a cancellation. There were so many informative discussions that we had - things I would never have learned if I hadn't come. The classes were both fun and relaxing and gave everyone the chance to just sit and breath and not have to think about anyone or anything else. But most of all I will cherish the new friendships that I made! Thank you Strength For Life for this amazing experience!!
I am currently in active and aggressive treatment for breast cancer and was able to attend this past weekends' Strength for Life Wellness Retreat in between chemotherapy treatments. This is the first time I've ever attended anything like this but it will definitely NOT be the last. I had the most amazing time because immediately upon arriving, the hosts were so genuine and sincere that i felt welcomed and comfortable. that, alone, set the tone for the rest of my experience there. The classes provided are informative and the instructors and/or guest speakers are knowledgable, down to earth and engaging. Above all, the network of people that the organization has brought together is incredible. I was overwhelmed with the courage and positive outlook that these cancer survivors exhibit and found myself even more confident about my own coming victory over this vicious disease just because I had this opportunity to listen to stories, share information and make great new friends. It's been a long time since I've laughed that much in one night! Definitely an experience that I'll cherish and never forget!
I am a Stage II breast cancer survivor. I was looking for retreats online and came across Strength for Life. I emailed my name in and was very blessed to be accepted into their retreat - as I am not in the Long Island area resident. I stepped way out of my comfort zone - I went alone not knowing anyone - but they welcomed me with open arms - from the very moment I walked in the door. This retreat opened me up to a world of new ideas - strength training exercise, zumba, yoga, reike, natural medicines, feng shui, and writing as a way to heal. I am going to implement some of these areas into my life. I met a group of women and one man - all in the same boat or "hot seat" as myself. We learned, laughed, and cried together. This weekend was just what I needed and I thank Strength for Life from the bottom of my heart.
The SFL wellness weekend was wonderful. Sharing battle stories, meeting different people, and hearing about varying treatments was a very motivational experience. It was also one of the few times I can say, I was actually relaxed when I left! That in itself is amazing. The days activities were very fun and informative. I took away helpful ideas, some new information and a lot of phone numbers for new friends!! Thanks Debbie, Jacqui and Theresa for making this wonderful organization possible!!
MY WEEKEND EXPERIENCE WITH STRENGHT FOR LIFE IS PROBLABLY THE BEST NON PROFIT
EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. I PREVIOUSLY IN WHITE PLAINS BELONGED TO GILDA'S CLUB OF
WESTCHESTER WHICH HAD NUMEROUS PROGRAMS WHICH I WISH WERE AVAILABLE HERE...
BUT THIS WEEKEND RUN AND FUNDED BY THIS SMALL ORGANIZATION BY FAR WAS NOTHING I EXPERIENCED BEFORE . THERE IS SO MUCH LOVE AND DEVOTION GIVEN BY THOSE WHO RUN THIS.
GOD BLESSS THEM AND HELP THEM TO GAIN A GILDA'S CLUB OF SUFFOLK OR LONG ISLAND.
I WILL DEVOTE ANY TIME AND ENERGY TO ACHIEVE THIS
I am a woman with cancer. I participated in the strength training classes which are free. Ball, bands and mat are also given free of charge. I enjoyed the 8 weeks of classes very much. The exercises help my body and the support of all cancer participants help me mentaly. This weekend I was invited to a free wellness weekend
retreat. Again, while enjoyinng the support of other woman I learned so much. This organization is a gem.
Although I am reviewing Strength for Life as a donor, I have also been a volunteer at their annual runs and I would assure anyone reading this that Jacqui and Debbie, the co-founders of Strength for Life, are both extremely passionate about their work with cancer patients and survivors. Additionally, I am confident that Jacqui and Debbie are excellent stewards of each donation that they receive and anyone considering a donation to Strength for Life be assured that their donation will help Strength for Life provide services to the greatest number of individuals possible.
I recently returned from the weekend wellness retreat In Hauppauge. What an amazing experience! I was certainly pushed out of my comfort zone but could not be more grateful to Jacqui, Debbie, and Teresa for extending an invitation to me. The three of you are incredible! I am also thankful for the women I met and now count as my ‘sisters’ on this journey. From the guest speakers, to the fitness instructors and the dialogue exchanged, I certainly feel blessed. Thank you for providing the time for me to heal. I look forward to attending the exercise classes in the future. Again, I cannot say thank you enough! - Emily
I enjoyed the exercise and information I received on the retreat.
I attended the strength for life wellness retreat for the first time. We had a day with Zumba, yoga meditation, reiki and Moore. I felt very relax physically and mentally. The organizer did a great job. ThankS to them that made all this possible.
I attended the Strength for Life Wellness Retreat April 13-14, 2013. What a wonderfully uplifting experiene! There was just such a positive spirit that surrounded everyone who was interested in taking their situation into their own hands. We were exposed to alternate therapies such as Reiki, Yoga, and Strength Training and heard excellent lectures on Feng Shui and Naturopatic Medicine. We learned so much from eveyone there; from the wonderful directors, the young volunteers, and of course all the great women who attended. We all shared a common bond which gave us tremendous strength. I feel blessed to have been asked to attend. Thank you Jaqui.
It was the greatest retreat ever. Strength for Life gave me hope and "Strength" The women that run theStrenght for life do a fabulous job. The activities that they had I didn't expect. I came out feeling refreshed and good about myself. Thank you for a great weekend I would do it again.
This was a lovely and much needed get away. It was filled with great spiritual, nutritional and physical information and classes. It had an over-all calming effect and a nice camaraderie that is always beneficial to a cancer patient. There are not enough words to thank Strength for life for this amazing opportunity. The only suggestion I could make is to have a little down time between classes, or split some of the events to the 2nd day, It was so action packed the 1st day, I was left exhausted and happily overwhelmed.
I attended the Strength for Life Wellness Retreat at Hyatt in Hauppauge, NY Aprill 13 and 14, 2013 .What a
great learning place to help restored faith and hope
I attended the Strength for Life Wellness Retreat at the Hyatt in Hauppauge, NY April 13 and 14, 2013. What a wonderful gift I was given! We were exposed to many types of complementary treatments that are helpful during cancer. We did Zumba, Yoga, Gentle exercise, had Reiki treatments and listened to 3 wonderful speakers. These ladies have a wonderful heart for helping ladies with cancer and how to feel better while going through treatment. I am blessed to have been a part of this weekend. I also met several women who I will keep in contact with after the weekend. Thanks for the experience!
Strength For Life has helped me feel better, has given me more energy, reason to keep moving and restored hope and strength...it teaches me, with individualized instruction, care and compassion for my own body and spirit. It is a smaller group that gives me comaraderie and encouragement to seek wellness.
Strength for life is a wonderful place for cancer patients and survivors. My mom was diagnosed with Lobular Breast Cancer in August 2012. We were all scared and devastated by the news. Fortunately, my mom was invited to a free wellness weekend for patients and survivors. She was given the opportunity to meet other people who are walking this very scary journey with her. She was also given free exercise equipment and classes to learn how to stay fit while fighting this life altering disease. Since then, she has continued to attend Strength for life's free exercise classes. These classes not only give her confidence in fighting her battle, but most of all, they are helping to strengthen her body to assist in her fight! I'm so thankful for this non profit because they give my mom a sense of control in a very scary time in her life.
Strength for Life helped me believe I could be normal and well once again. Two surgeries for ovarian cancer followed by four months of chemo therapy left me feeling weak and depleted. I was no longer the strong, energetic woman I once was. In fact, I was convinced I would never have enough energy to even try regaining what I had lost. That's when my daughter told me about Strength for Life. Exercise with other cancer patients provided the perfect comfort zone to begin rebuilding my body and my self esteem. Jacqui is the perfect combination of personal trainer and compassionate human being. She understands the beginners' limitations and offers encouragement with just the right amount of humor to make the impossible seem possible. Strength For Life helped me believe there is life after cancer. I was no longer afraid to challenge my body. I joined a gym, ran in a 5K, and continue to be active in my community. Thank you Strength For Life!
I was two months post-chemo when my daughter told me about a program called "Strength for Life". She contacted the program, enrolled me, and then encouraged me to participate. It was a turning point in my recovery. Under the watchful eye and careful instructions of an excellent personal trianer, Jacqui, I began rebuilding the muscles that were weakened by four months of chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. There were several other cancer survivors in the group; we met once a week for eight sessions, and together we struggled with both our physical limitations and our emotional healing from the dreaded disease called "Cancer". It was the best support group ever!!! At the end of program, I had regained muscle tone, strength, and a positive can-do attitude. Thank you, and God bless you, Jacqui, for your caring and sensitivity.
I saw the advertisement for the strength for life classes at the hospital where I go for treatment over a year ago. I did not sign up because I did not want to exercise, but what a mistake! I just finished the 8 week session with Jacqueline and I am sorry I put it off for so long. Our teacher, Jacqui is such a caring, patient, knowledgeable person that she has changed my life forever. I now know that I must exercise if I want to keep well. She encourages us every step of the way for the whole hour. She says things like "Do what you can" Keep trying" This organization MUST continue to do the work that it's doing.
Strength For Life is indeed an appropriate name. Keep up the good work!
I first heard of Strength for Life from a friend. We attended the Wellness Retreat in September 2012. My friend has since passed away and I often think that it was the best weekend she had in a long time and the last good weekend she had. I have been attending the exercise class on Tuesday night at Stonybrook and have recently brought a friend with me and she is enjoying the class immensely. Jacqui and Debbie are the most dedicated and caring people ever.
I am so glad that I read the ad at the doctor's office. I attended the exercise classes and met a great bunch of woman in the same or similar circumstance. I recently attended the wellness retreat and it far exceeded my expectations. I couldn't believe how organized and informative. Just the way the day went was really fantastic. Jacqui, Debbie and the volunteers are just fantastic to offer their time so that I can feel better about myself and not feel "doom and gloom".
I recently attended a wellness retreat. I have not been able to exercise much since my diagnosis and tremendous weight gain. Jacqui and Debbie were very welcoming and non-judgmental. I felt safe and thoroughly enjoyed the day, the classes and meeting a group of strong women.
Jaqcui and Debbie are truly phenomenal women. I attended their Wellness retreat this weekend and it was an amazing experience. There were many volunteers and each one's goal was to make each participant's life better. ANy questions or requests were treated with compassion. Everyone genuinely cared without judging. It was so refreshing - a wonderful experience!
This past weekend I attended a Retreat hosted by "Strength for Life". What Jacqu and Debbie do with pure happiness and joy makes an enormous difference in the lives of so many at a time when people need it the most. Thank you!
I finished all my treatments for Breast Cancer in May 2012. While I was still in treatment in took several of the Strength for Life classes and I learned about the Wellness Weekend. This was an amazing weekend. The classes were great and the support I received from talking with the other woman on the weekend was great. I felt pampered the whole weekend and felt very relaxed.
This non for profit is all about empowering cancer patients and survivors to thrive through exercise, positive thinking, and nutrition. Their volunteers are very pleasant and energetic. Wonderful organization with wonderful people.
I had finished my first round of chemo and went to a wellness retreat not knowing what to expect.....what I found was a group of very professional, caring and giving people who went way beyond what they had to do to make us feel welcome, well taken care of and then educate us on numerous topics that would help us on our road to recovery. The weekend was filled with positive influences and comradarie that was so special. Each of the volunteers gave us insight into ways to help us in every phase of our journey and recovery. I can't thank them enough for the wonderful job they are doing.
What an awesome group of Women! Everyone from Strength for Life was truly Blessed. The Zumba class was a Blast. The Strenght Training had me moving and feeling my Body that had been napping for a long time! The Guest Speaker Dr. Bongiorno was packed with much needed information. Yoga with Lida has encouraged me to start at home, loved that session. Attending the Retreat has broaden my awareness and also allowed me to meet a group of DIVAS that has been in a Battle, like myself, we are not alone and that we are LIVING BEINGS. I really appreciate the Service that SFLI has provided and. From the moment of arrival to departure, ALL of the sessions, Massage technique, Feng Shui and such was soothing. This Retreat was a much needed Event of Excitement, Informative, Fun! I had left home droppy and came back to LIFE. I hope that they continue. God Bless SFLI.
I learned about Strength for Life through a newsletter I received from North Shore/Long Island Jewish Hospital Cancer Center. I always wanted to reach out to a support group or somewhere where there were other cancer patients or survivors, but never found one that I felt suited me. I called the phone number, and got a quick response from Jacqui. I feel that I connected with her almost immediately, given her warm, friendly, caring, professional, and calming personality. After sending me the links to explain all that Strength For Life is about, Jacqui enrolled me in a class that was convenient to both my home and schedule. I feel that there was a great connection with the other attendees, and I even made a friend, Mona who also had breast cancer. I truly looked forward to attending each class. There were days that I was not feeling well, but after exercising with Jacqui, I felt energized and better than before the class , both physically and emotionally. I am now looking forward to attending the weekend retreat; participating in the classes, hearing the lectures, and just spending two days with others who have a common bond. There are no words to express to Jacqui how much I appreciate all that she has done for me. I feel both honored and lucky to have crossed paths with her. After eight years and nine surgeries where life has given me plenty of lemons, Jacqui surely helped turn them into lots of lemonade! Thanks again! This past weekend I attended a wellness retreat donated by the Strength For Life organization. I had a truly amazing time. I met a wonderful group of women who shared a common bond with me, and participated in classes and lectures given by women and men who selflessly donated their time and gave so much of themselves. Although I was only 25 minutes away from my home, I felt like I was on a far away "spa" vacation! I returned home refreshed and enlightened, and with approximately 20 new friends! This was only possible because of the extreme generosity and hard work of Jacqui Errico, Debbie Hughes, and the other volunteers. I am very fortunate to be a part of the Strength For Life "family"!
How do you thank someone who helps those going through a life altering experience? Jacqui is totally dedicated and professional. The program is encouraging to people who have been weakened by treatments and Jacqui modifies each exercise to meet each client's needs and abilities. The equipment is wonderful, and all this at no cost!! Amazing!
I was very hesitant about taking the Strength for life exercise classes after my surgery and brachytherapy. I needed some help getting some of my strength and stamina back even after a year. I was worried it would be too difficult for me because I am not a youngster
and have a few mobility problems. Well, I shouldn’t have worried. Jacqui is terrific! She understands and responds to each individuals’ limitations by tailoring the exercises to you, and pushes, just firmly enough, to keep you motivated and believing you can really help yourself. I am so glad I responded to the article I read about the program, and cannot thank Strength for Life enough for the help and encouragement I have received.
When I first met Jacqui and Debbie three years ago I learned about their cause and immediately knew I wanted to help in any way I could. Being a volunteer and working with Jacqui and Debbie and seeing first hand what they are able to accomplish is an amazing thing. Their passion for Strength for Life speaks volumes which makes it easy for outsiders to want to get involved and help. They motivate and inspire everyone they come in contact with and I am grateful to be a part of it.
Working with Strength for Life is an experience I would recommend for any volunteer. Everything that Jacqui and Debbie touch is filled with such love and genuine intent and you can't help but be effected by it you work with them. Exercise classes and wellness weekends are packed with positive energy and empowerment. In addition, the opportunity to fund-raise outside of these events gives me the chance to share the Strength for Life story and increase awareness. I love knowing that the donations I receive have the potential to make a profound impact on the lives of participants. I have enjoyed each volunteer experience with Strength for Life and look forward to giving more, in any way I can, in the future.
I attended Strength For Life's first Wellness Weekend reteat and was pleasantly surprised as what they had to offer and all for FREE to boot. The weekend was filled with Yoga, Tai chi, Reiki, exercise, Speakers on health and wellness and the comaraderie of other cancer survivors. Debbie and Jaqui made us all feel so loved and nurtured, which is exactly what someone who is going through a cancer diagnosis needs. It was exactly what I needed at the time. I was so impressed what Strength For life had to offer that i wanted to be involed, so I began volunteering my time at furture wellness weekends so I could be a part of helping others experience the great effects of what Strength For Life has to offer. After volunteering a few times I was asked to be on the Board of Directors. I was nervous but something told me I needed to be a part of this wonderful organization. So here I am today on the Board and recently faced with another cancer diagnosis and now attending their exercise classes and feeling great. Debbie has opened me up to many different healing modalities and I am forever grateful. I feel that God has a purpose and is using me to be an inspiration to others and that's why He has put Strength For Life on my healing path.
I found out about Strength for Life from my daughter's mother-in-law who saw an article in a hospital bulletin about it. I had just finished chemo 4 months earlier for ovarian cancer and although I was feeling better, I still felt weak and fatigued. I joined the class in Nassau County. It was a small group, but we all immediately bonded. Jacqui was a wonderful leader who really knows what she's doing. She customized the exercises for those of us who couldn't do the traditional methods. Her encouraging attitude enabled all of us particpate and benefit from the exercises. When I started, I could barely do the exercises, but after a couple of more classes, I felt stronger and was able to do them. More importantly, it was not only exercise, but it turned into a support group. Even though we all have a serious illness, at no time was it ever sad. It was an upbeat and supportive environmnent and with lots of humor throughout each session. I am so thankful for Jacqui and for the wonderful people in my class. Thanks also to Strength for Life for this program and for the exercise ball, bands, and mat. It hardly gives me an excuse not to continue to exercises at home. This is such a worthwhile service. I hope it keeps on going and grows.
My friend found their ad and when I applied, I found that the classes and the equipment were supplied free of charge, which is amazing. Jacqui was our leader and she created a very positive and fun atmosphere. We were taught and lead through exercises which we could later do at home to help with our cancer recovery. The classes were small which created a very comfortable atmosphere. There was no great discussion of our illnesses, just total support and understanding for whatever each of us needed. I'm looking forward to hearing from them about their wellness retreats.
When I was first introduced to Strength for Life, I had just finished 4 months of chemotherapy and I joined to build up my strength. However in addition to gaining strength, I developed a support group over the last two years and friendships. I am soooooo grateful to Jacqui and Debbi for volunteering their time to be there for me and all the other participants when we needed help or a friend to listen. Donna Blansfield
Strenght for Life offers the opportunity to strengten your body after cancer. The classes offer strength training and stetching to get your body moving. Not only does it benefit the body but it is amazing for the spirit. The energy that Jacquie and Debbie bring to us in the group is contagious. They offer the classes at no cost to us and include the bands, balls and mats we need for our workout. The comraderie of the group has been detrimental to my healing. Thank you Jacquie and Debbie.
sorry for the the description as "detrimental" should have read "instrumental"
This has been the greatest program for me. I made a lot of friends, who have gone through similar circumstances. The two people who has made it all happen is Jacqui and Debbie. I make sure that nothing gets scheduled on Tuesday nights, that is my time for just me. The exercise is hard a times but we all know it's good for us. Jacqui and Debbie are so wonderful they make time for us. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, JACQUI AND DEBBIE. Thanks, again you're great instructors!!!!!!
I can not thank these woman and all it's board members enough. I feel so great! I only wish I could take them home to work out with me daily. Through the past 3 years since my original breast cancer diag. they have gone out of their way for me. When I was hosptalized this summer for headaches which turned out to be a brain tummor from the original breast cancer I could not wait to work out again. I returned this fall and do not want it to end. Im not a totally disapline person so having these ladies working with me has been so great. I did the run this past Nov. and plan to train for next years and kick "cardiacHills" butt! I know it is God who puts special people in our paths and I am thankful for Jaqui and Debbie and all those behind the events that make our workouts possible. Oh, and the actual "wellness weekend" Awesome! I loved everything, the roomates, food choices for a "weight watcher", swimming, I loved the treadmils in the gym, the great conversations..Thank u!
The wellness retreat was really phenomenal. It was enriching, enlightening, broadening and very informative. Most of all, the caring exemplified and shown to all the partiicpants by Jacqui, Debbie and Theresa was truly heartfelt. These compassionate ladies are the backbone of this marvelous organization . I learned a lot in a whirlwind weekend of varied activities - strength training, zumba, exercise, Reiki, Shung Fei. Additionally, the participants shared a piece of their lives and stories with one another. This was a wonderful and a true 'retreat' in every sense of the word, as it was a short time away from everyone's lives to learn and share and enjoy with one another~!
Thank you for having the work shop. I had a relaxing, restful time! YOU GIRLS ROCK!!!! I learn so much and just wish it wasn't over night. Hopfuly the next one will be the whole weekend. I am looking into having a "cooking for the cause" event at my job so that more people can join in on the next one. Thanks for every thing! firstname.lastname@example.org
I'm a 4 1/2 year breast cancer survivor and also had two brain surgeries following my breast cancer treatments. Needless to say, I was less active than I was before the surgeries and less active than I could have been given the proper training to help me deal with less range of motion and lymphedema. Strength for Life weekend was really the first concentrated fitness centered activity I have done in four and a half years. This program is life affirming and confidence building to help deal with a new physical self. The instructors were professional and caring, the workshops were educational and fun . The accommodation were very comfortable and relaxing.

When cancer touches your life it sets off a roller coaster ride of emotions, doctor appointments, tests/scans, protocols, treatments, life spins for a while seemingly out of control. Everyone works at treating the cancer.
Two wonderful women, Debbie and Jacqui founded 'Strength for Life' which is a non-profit organization that offers cancer survivors a unique health oriented respite that treats the PERSON.
The weekend retreat was jam packed with experiences to enhance the body, mind and spirit.

Strength for life is a fantastic place to be!!!
Jacqui and Debby have put together a wonderful program, that does not focus on illness, but on life.
The weekend retreat provided a plethora of experiences for the body, mind, and spirit.
There was a class on yoga, tai chi, strength training, zumba, speakers on feng shui and nutrition, meditation, and a reiki healing circle.
It is an experience not to be missed, which helps to get us back on the road to total healing.
Jacqui and Debby are truly devoted, compassionate women and they should be highly commended for the wonderful program and support that they provide.
I can highly recommend Strength For Life to all those who want to focus on enjoying their lives to the fullest potentials.

What a wonderful organization. I am a recent breast cancer survivor and this was the first organization I reached out to for support. What a positive experience. I was part of their wellness weekend which was free to any cancer survivor and what an enlightening experience. It was such an uplifiting weekend and I learned so much about so many ways to get my life back on track and stay healthy; physically and mentally. I was afraid before I went that it may be a bit of a "downer" being with so many others with cancer but it was just the opposite, it was such a celebration of life and a very positive experience. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the top of my bald (from chemo) head.

My name is Laura Cerrano and I am a Certified Feng Shui NY consultant on Long Island. I met Jacqui Errico and Debbie Hughes at a Health fair and was invited to speak about Feng Shui and healing when living with Cancer. I was blessed to be part of the event and met so many wonderful people. It was a day of sharing, listening, and absorbing the experiences and stories from those dealing with cancer at various stages. Experts in various other health fields also gave advice with how to enhance the process of healing and preventing.
It was so inspiring to see the synergy of everyone working together, supporting each other, and having the best attitudes when dealing with such a challenge in their lives. The programs, events, and information that Debbie and Jacqui offer for FREE are from quality sources and from people who truly care about helping others from the bottom of their heart.
You are very lucky and blessed to Work with these ladies and the other volunteers. When you meet them for the first time, The Strength of Life Organization makes you feel like family from the very first smile and greeting. This is the place to be when you need advice, need to get things off your mind, to have fun, and simply connect with others for a stronger healing process.
Thank you Jacqui and Debbie for being earth angels

I thank God for putting these woman in my life and through them others that have been a well of information for my life and my children's life. 5 stars for two wonderful women dedicating their lives to help those that have been touched by Cancer in some walk of their lives. God knows we never want to have to go through it again but it does happen and to know there are a group of people to encourage you in so many ways; mentally, PHYSICALLY, emotionally, and teach us healthy caloric intake to prevent a reoccurrence what a blessing. I had such a wonderful time I encourage everyone to go to their classes and sign up for a retreat wellness weekend. I felt so energized and fit from the exercise and the healthy breathing encouraged during Yoga, Tai Chi, and strength training. I love the health professionals they bring to us with an abundance of knowledge tailored for you. I work in a family doctor's office and I want everyone to know the wonderful resources out there and Strength For Life is like having a personnel trainer for you weekly for free, it can't get any better people go to work everyday dragging their feet, these women work and raise families and still volunteer to strength train you and run this non-profit program. One of the doctors said there are only 2 things we can do to prolong our lives. "Healthy caloric intake and exercise" no magic pill but for cancer patients or survivors we need that balance to prevent our bodies cells form changing again. I look forward to meeting many new faces as we fight cancer together. God Bless

Strength for Life is a not for profit organization that truly cares for the cancer patients that it supports. They constantly work hard to research and develop beneficial programs that address the mental, physical and emotional issues faced by those who are living with this disease. With the support of their partners, they are able to offer a varied menu of activities that are offered at NO COST to those who can benefit from them.
I believe the programs initiated by Strength for Life have a big impact on all attending. This organization gives people a place of ongoing support where they can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to strengthen all aspects of their lives. Strength for Life provides many lifestyle enhancing activities including, but not limited to, exercise classes, wellness weekends, dietary expertise, physical training, relaxation techniques, self-awareness activities and also informative workshops taught by experts in the holistic medical profession as well as in the conventional medical field.
The successes of this organization are a testament to the dedicated founders, board members and sponsors who donate their considerable time and talent to give others the ability to reclaim their lives in very caring and positive manner.
