Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is the most amazing camp I have ever been to! I am a freshman in college and I first attended this camp in the 9th grade and loved it! They have so much to do not only in activities, skits, and services, but the spiritual growth I experienced there was huge. I was such a child in Christ and that 9th grade experience was that push I needed to get going. Snowbird will always be a place I would love to return to! The people and great and so is the camp!

I spent 3 summers at Snowbird Outfitters, and each of those experiences was unique and transforming. Set in a beautiful valley in North Carolina, Snowbird offers an experience like no other. People are forced out of their comfort zone, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well. I would not be the person I am today had it not been for my experiences at Snowbird, the friendships I made, and the relationship I built with God. My first summer there, I was broken, had to leave early, and spent much of the next year fighting God and my family. But the next summer rolled around and Snowbird came calling again! It was then that I realized I was doing nothing but running away. Snowbird's backdrop, and the people volunteering there, have a way of breaking down those walls we all build up and you can finally come clean with yourself and begin a life with God.

I serve as a leader at hyland Heights Baptist church the kids and leaders as well lives are changed by attending Snowbird. I have friends from high school as well who attended Snowbird and still reflect back on what God did as a result of Snowbird. Camp is a unique place for teenagers and Snowbird is one of the best. Its both humorous and meaningful skits, staff, location, activities, and camp leadership make it be one of the best youth group camps in the Southeast United States.

From the first time I arrived at Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters, I knew immediately that this camp was different. I had been to Centri-fuge camps, local camps, and church events for many many years at this point and from the first day at Snowbird I had this feeling that not only was this camp where I wanted to be, but it was where God wanted me to be. From the excitement and daily challenges of the recreation available for all the youth, to the intense skits and worship, Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is a once in a century camp that people will be talking about long after we are all here. If and when you have the oppurtunity to experience this camp, please do. Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters has everything every youth minister should be looking for in a camp.

I had a great experience when I went to Snowbird. The people devote their whole lives to the campers that cross their paths! I happen to know one of the counselors personally, and I would have to say she is one of the best ppl I know. It isn't often you find an organization that wants to help kids, young adults and their peers find their way through life spiritually and physically. I love Snowbird!

SWO (Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters) has been a fantastic resource for our students. As a Student Pastor, we travel to SWO each summer for summer camp. SWO's staff, teaching, and recreational opportunities are second to none. I have had the opportunity to be a part of numerous summer camps at various locations - but none come close to the prgram offered by SWO. Our students talk about their experience all year long and are more than excited when the time comes for camp.

Snowbird is an amazing, lifechanging summer camp for youth. I've attended every summer since grade 7 and I'm entering my senior year next year. It's intense recreation and discipleship; they said it was coming, and they brought it. God never fails to show up in the most powerful way. The staff at SWO are like no other and you build relationships with them even after camp. I would reccomend SWO to anyone looking for a life changing experience.

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is more than just a camp. Snowbird offers intense outdoor recreation, accompanied by relationships with the staff that surpass the means of an average camp, and most importantly they give a detailed look on who Christ is, the significance of what He did for us on the cross, and the importance of being a follower of Christ. The surface level of Snowbird offers a welcoming environment, but as you become more acquainted in the few days you're on campus, you really dive deep into who you are, and who you're ultimately serving. Snowbird has made a huge impact on my life. It changed how I viewed doctrinal topics, it changed how I view relationships, and most importantly it radically altered my relationship with God.

I first became a part of the family of brothers and sisters at Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters when I was seventeen years old. The summer before my senior year of high school I came to the camp to be a part of what is called "Servant Team," or the team of high schoolers that serves the camp by cleaning and doing maintenance around the camp each day. While we would work hard in the afternoons alongside our supervisors, during the morning we had the opportunity to sit under the teachings provided for the campers.
This my first experience at Snowbird truly did alter my senior year drastically. I have been blessed to be raised in a strong Christian home my entire life, but during high school I struggled not to become apathetic towards my faith, even towards Christ and Scripture. The reason I struggled so was because I felt like I had done enough, that I was a good and smart young woman who was a good girl and a good Christian. Praise the Lord that He used that summer to completely break me of that mindset and to give me a renewed passion for the living and active Word of God, and to increase my passion for the foreign mission field (something that has been my ambition since I was a little girl). At camp I was challenged hard. I was challenged to USE the things that God had blessed me with to honor Him. I realized that He had blessed me greatly, and so He expected me to do much with what I had been given, but that it was in no way about me, but about bringing Him who had given me life in the first place – to bring HIM all glory.
That was the summer of 2007. The summer of 2008 I returned as a counselor. Never had my walk with Christ been so grown and strengthened. The grueling physical and spiritual demands placed on me stretched me until it was painful, but I couldn’t help but rejoice amidst the pain when I saw what God was doing in my own life as well as the lives of the middle and high school campers that I spent my days with. The community that I experienced with the other staff was unlike anything I had ever known before – we truly learned to love one another as brothers and sisters in the body of Christ, to hold one another accountable, to rejoice and weep with one another, to truly live in one accord. It was incredible to me and it inspired me to create that kind of community wherever I have and will eventually go.
In the fall of 2008, I returned to Snowbird yet again to participate in a ministry called O.L.D. School – Outdoor Leadership and Discipleship School. Just as one might deduce from the name, this is an incredible adventure designed for college-aged men and women. We went through intense discipleship training from the highly trained and experienced full-time staff from camp every day while we learned to make our way in the rugged outdoor life. We went from backpacking through the peaks and valleys of the Appalachian Mountains to learning how to guide the white-water rapids that flowed through them, from climbing cliffs thousands of feet above the ground to caving deep beneath the earth’s surface. From North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee we traveled much further south to kayak through the Florida everglades, and finally out of the country on a missions trip to Honduras. Through it all, we served in local missions, went to downtown Ashville NC to practice street evangelism, and most of all learned to humbly serve one another, loving one another as our Savior had so greatly beyond words demonstrated his own love to us by dying for our sin – the sin that we deserved to die for. We learned to discipline our weary bodies to passionately pursue Christ in Scripture and to daily crucify our flesh, choosing to walk in the Spirit instead.
I returned to camp in both the summers of 2009 and 2010. I met the man who is now my husband while serving these past four years with him; we were married at camp by the director, Brody Holloway, this past December. While my husband has already graduated, I’m still finishing my nursing degree, but when that is completed we plan to go to Africa to serve on the foreign mission field. For the time being, however, we plan on returning to camp together this coming summer.
My life has been so heavily impacted by God’s work in this ministry, truly I daily thank God for what He is still doing in and through the people serving there and pray that He will continue to work there. I wouldn’t be where I am today in so many ways had God not brought me to this camp. Although I’ve been involved with multiple summer camps and other high school and college ministries, there is absolutely none more deserving of a giveaway like this; the givers can rest completely assured that their gift will be greatly used to reach and impact others for the kingdom of Christ.

my time at Snowbird Outfitters was far beyond amazing. the staff is very welcoming and loving towards all of the campers and all of the services and breakout sessions are pertinent to everyday life. i spent a weekend at Snowbird with my youth group and it was, no question, one of the best youth trips we have ever had. there are so many activities to participate in, from paintball to a zip line, and there is rarely a dull moment when the Snowbird staff is near. aside from the thrills of all the activities, the spiritual experience at Snowbird is wonderful. the staff are all shining examples of God's love and the sermon's are relevant and easy to understand. there is no doubt in my mind that Snowbird is one of the best retreat sites in North Carolina.

Snowbird is an amazing place for both adults and youth alike, the staff are so wonderful, caring, supportive, and basically addicted to serving the Lord. Each and every person there has a calling to be there and they are all so wonderful! The activities are engaging and exciting, paintball, horseback riding, tubing, and biking are just so much fun! The worship services are moving, Brody and Kahuna are in there place because they can move you to tears and make you feel so close to God. But the greatest thing ever is the prayer chapel. The reverence you feel when you walk through the door and the serenity that overtakes you makes you in awe of everything that is going on. I would highly recommended ANYONE to go and experience this!

God is awesome! Snowbird is awesome by its close association to God (who is awesome). God is intensely committed to seeking and saving the lost. So much so that he would sacrifice personal comfort, money, time, even his life to win them. Snowbird staff are like this.

I know firsthand because I was one of 100 staff in the Summer of 2007. I've also seen firsthand what God can do through this camp because it changed the life of my best friend Bryan. God took an ordinary, lukewarm, self-centered dude like him and transformed him into an extraordinary, passionate, God-centered man like Jesus. Praise God! Snowbird played a role in this too.

Not only have I been a participant in a weekend marriage retreat at Snowbird but I have also seen this camp and it's staff at work as a member of the general public. This is an extreme sports camp with extreme love of Christ as the power behind the success of Snowbird. The staff are genuine in their relationships with Christ, the campers and other staff members. Full time staff and summer staff alike are exciting, engaging and informed. I have observed Brody Holloway's (Director) and his family's interaction with campers, staff, parents and the general public of the town of Andrews, NC where the camp is located. They live sacrificially to be able to offer the experience the provide to all visitors and participants at Snowbird. The dedication to the spiritual, emotional and physical well being of all who come to Snowbird is so evident in a very short time once you are on the campus. The relationship with the townspeople is genuine and caring. I have a daughter who has served as a counselor at Snowbird and she still has lifelong friendships and mentors within the Snowbird professional community. She still has contact with some of her campers and is so proud to still be a part of the Snowbird family. There are few places and people that are as genuine and honest as the folks at and associated with Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters. They are a gift and blessing.

I had the oppurtunity to be on Servant Team at this camp this past summer (SWOX) and it was awesome! The year before I was a camper and my mind was blown by the presence of God on the campus. The leadership at this camp is AWESOME and the ministry is so powerful towards youth. I feel honored to be a part of the camp and am hoping to be back there this summer as real time staff. We saw so many people accept Christ and see christ through the staff and the morning messages (by Kahuna) and the night messages (by Brody). God has his hand over this ministry like no other I have been a part of and it is so evident the moment to step on its grounds.

I've worked within a number of places like Snowbird Outfitters Inc., but never have I been around one that was so utterly selfless, so open-hearted, so individual oriented that it nearly drives me to tears. The hands on interaction that this company provides is unmatched. Most organizations like Snowbird Outfitters Inc. have their "higher ups" off somewhere in an office or in a building that is far away from the people they are helping. I found the opposite to be true with Snowbird Outfitters Inc. Even after they were done doing their traditional desk job work, their staff was found interacting with those they were helping on a person-to-person level. Much of the staff could still be found on campus at 11pm helping those in need of help. Not only that, but they care about the people so much, that their full time staff voluntarily does all of the manual labor on the campus. I've never been so amazed by an organization's kindness and generosity in a way that made me evaluate my own life as a true humanitarian. I strive to be like them in the way I care for me fellow man.

My review about Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters.
They are very helpful and spiritual and it's like you feel a pulling of Christ running through you...everyday Big Kahuna (Steve) would give an invitation to come upon everybody and except Christ as our Lord and Savior...and Brody Holloway during the evening service would give us the chance to talk to a staff member about the issues that we face...like whether we want to except Christ or about family issues, no matter the issue they are there to help you out...they are family to me, i can nearly name all the staff members by heart except the new ones of course because at one time or another they each stepped forward and either talked with me or shared scripture, like "He rescued me because he delighted in me," i can't remember the verse of which this came from, but it stuck with me, i hope that they win the prize because they would use that money i guess to help with their mission funds...if i think of anything else i'll fill another one out and say My review part 2...Thanks.

I was a chaperone with my church's youth group the summer of 2010 and going back this summer. Snowbird is beyond awesome. I feel like I'm in a different world, you have no worries there. The staff connects with every camper and they will remember you the next time that you come. The same staff is always there, so that proves it's a great place, they don't have turnover. God is very present at Snowbird and because of the staff discipling to campers many people have come to know Jesus as their personal Saviour. I go in the summer and work on the missions team and it's a great feeling knowing that I am doing God's work and serving others without judgement or concern for my needs. Putting others ahead of yourself, that's God work and what you learn at Snowbird. There is not one bad thing that I can say about Snowbird, it changed my life and the staff I consider my brothers and sisters in Christ. There is so much stuff to do there that you never get bored. Recreation, worship service, missions, small groups, chapel, skits, music.....much, much more. I absolutly love this place....

I first learned about Snowbird when my parents moved to the area. I began hanging out with the staff who worked there and they took me in like one of their own. I had never seen such genuineness from a group of people and through them showing me the love of Christ, and ultimately God's mercy, I was lead to salvation. Later I became a counselor at Snowbird and really got to see first hand the heart of who Snowbird really is. Everyone is extremely selfless, giving 110% to the students who come in each week. I have never seen such hard workers with as much thankfulness and joy as they have. It was a continual encouragement to me just to be in the presence of such an amazing group of people who dedicate their lives reaching people for the gospel. Snowbird changes lives and I know countless staff members and teenagers who have forever been changed and impacted by this nonprofit organization.

I was a camper for three summers and worked for two summers at Snowbird and it RADICALLY changed my life! I am not the same person I was because of this ministry, the staff, the opportunities, and the lasting influence the organization has had on me. Even though I am familiar with the ministry, I change dramatically for the better after each summer or any time spent ministering here or being ministered to here. Snowbird is about people and the truth of God's Word. Because of this ministry's obedience to these two aspects, God has bestowed His grace and faithfulness to this ministry, which leads to His glory and fame being proclaimed.

Snowbird Outfitters truly changed my life. I first visited as a high school student as a part of their camp. It was the first place that adults truly took an interest in my life and became mentors. Snowbird encourages youth to evaluate their life and align it with the positive principles found in the Bible. After attending as a student, I worked there for two summers, pouring into kids for 12 weeks. The staff believe so much in this mission that they work ridiculously long hours for ridiculously low salary. Located in rural North Carolina, Snowbird is always in need of funds to better serve the the community!

I was a camper at SWO for many years (from before my freshman year of high school through the summer before I started college), and they have never let me down. I can honestly say that this establishment is single handedly responsible for so much spiritual growth and change in my life. I learned what it meant to have a relationship with Christ, met great friends, and even met my husband there. I have seen lives change both from a camper and a counselor prospective. My husband has told me about how he was dealing with lust as a camper when he was there, and through their guidance, he was able to kick many distructive sexual habits that could have played a serious negative role in our marriage if left unattended. I am forever grateful for the love of the staff and the solid, doctrinal teaching. The camp has a great staff to camper ratio (I always remember having a staff member available to discuss personal issues with) and amazing recreation (caving, rappelling, rafting, etc). Not only is this a fun camp for kids to enjoy coming to, but it's an amazing environment to teach the scriptures.

I worked at Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters the summer of 2010. I knew that I would enjoy the experience of working there, but I never knew how much I would grow. Not only did I see the lives of many teens changed, I also saw God change my own life. The work experience was great! It was tough at times, but that's why it's called "work." They encourage discipline, Christian discipleship, and they do all that they can to make the camp God-honoring as well as provide great services for the campers. One of my minor jobs was to run the top of the climbing tower. They did an excellent job training me to do the job well as well as keep kids safe. All of their recreations are fun for the students as well as leaders, and they train the staff well enough on all recs to be sure that everyone stays safe. I can't think of anything I would change about Snowbird. I loved it as a camper, and even more as a staff member.

I have about two and a half years of experience with this camp, knowing what it stands for and what its staff does. In 2008, I went there for my first time to work on summer staff, and it was immediately evident that they are serious about the ideals they teach.

Snowbird is not a large chain of camps or facilities–it is the one and only, and has qualities that set it apart from other places I've visited. During summers, effectiveness is maximized by a high staff-to-camper ratio, something like one summer staff for every three or four campers–pretty high in this area. This enables the summer staff to richly invest in the campers, learning about their lives, their struggles, and giving them time to offer counsel or just to show love.

I think this also enables the high adventure aspect of the camp to be very helpful to relationships. The adventure activities, such as high ropes swings, zip-line, rafting and rappelling, often take students and participants far out of their comfort zones, while the friendly staff serve as a comfort zone and a confidant to them. The summer staff themselves usually grow as individuals and in fellowship through their time there. Full-time staff members take much care to see that summer staff members are teaching effectively by teaching them effectively and caring for their well being.

Snowbird makes serious positive impacts on hundreds of lives by sharing truth and presenting the Word of God. The staff genuinely care about campers and visitors, and honestly invest in them. Besides summer activities, SWO works year round, hosting fall and winter retreats for church youth groups, organizations and schools. Snowbird hosts a couples retreat for married folks who love to learn and grow together more. Based at SWO is the OLDS program, Outdoor Leadership and Discipleship School, which is a semester-long adventure for people age 18-25. OLDS now offers the option for college credit, and seeing some growth and expansion. I worked for OLDS, and have seen lives changed for the better.

While summer staff are typically college students and young adults, the full-time staff is a tight-knit group focused more on its purpose than its profit. A large number of these are college graduates, many of which have furthered their area of study in areas specifically taught in Snowbird programs. This further demonstrates the level of qualification and the effectiveness of teaching. Nevertheless, these staff seek only to provide for their families and donate in desired areas. There is no goal for great profit or to turn the camp into a cash cow in the future.

Through good stewardship and recent careful analysis, Snowbird money managers have been squeezing the most out of every penny. The organization depends heavily on all revenue generated by the summer and winter retreats and any donations made. Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters would be a very worthy recipient of any time, money and support.

My parents knew that I wanted to go to a summer camp, but they couldn't afford it at all. So the Youth Pastor from the church I went to when I was little, contacted my father, (they've been friends for awhile) and invited my brother and I, because a boy and a girl had dropped out from going on the trip at the last minute. I wasn't really comfortable with going with a group that I didn't even know, but my parents made me go anyways.
I thank my parents all the time for making me go. Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is truly an amazing experience. From the Extreme Rec to the Extreme Skits. The Staff are insane, but extremely friendly. The Worship is simply amazing, and I feel free to Worship however I feel like it. Through my 30 years of experience with church groups and Boy Scouting, I have attending, literally, dozens of camps across the Southeast. Through those same experiences, I have offered Christian and outdoor program opportunities to thousands of youth.

While I must admit that the program is somewhat unorthodox, the results are what counts. Snowbird uses a unique approach that increases the camper/staff ratio to 3:1. The bonding and interaction between the staff and campers is extraordinary.

The Camp uses extreme games and activities to create a fun atmosphere for the student that strengthen the ties between the campers and staff. They blend the daily and evening group worship with nightly small groups where change really occurs. It was like group therapy where students began to share openly. Over the course of a week, their faith becomes real and the change transparent.

I believe in whatever works. . .and Snowbird's approach works. We saw real, lasting change in our youth. We will be back.

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is a wonderful organization. I spent the entire summer there last year, and I can honestly say it changed my life. Snowbird stands on biblical principles and does not waver. The Holy Spirit is what guides there day to day, and from the top down, Christ is the most important aspect. We worship hard and we play hard, It is amazing.

I am a Youth Minister and Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is the "Best," by far, Youth Camp we have ever attended! The leaders and staff take great pride in providing the best camp experience possible, by providing every opportunity to connect with Jesus Christ while there. Snowbird also provides enough staff to have an amazing student to staff ratio, so your Youth are getting the personal attention & accountability they need. All of this, on top of the fact that you will not find better recreation anywhere! Form paint-ball, whitewater rafting, canoeing, horseback riding, tubing and much, much more! Snowbird is an amazing organization that is making a powerful impact on students and leader alike!

i came as a chaperone with a youth group to snowbird for a weekend camp. it was a wonderful experience. the extra activities we did were a lot of fun as well as character building for the students. the theme while we were there was "step out of your comfort zone for God so you can grow as a christian." the activities we did were all geared to that. The bible study time was great... the big kahuna was the bible study leader and he was excellent in keeping the youth's attention and putting it on their level so they understood it. the worship/praise leaders were excellent, the music was great and the skits were very funny and engaging...

I am a past summer staff member at camp and I absolutely LOVE SWO. This is a unique camp that truly challenges campers and staff to live out the Gospel day in and day out. The way the camp is structured is wonderful - it allows counselors to focus on a small group of campers during the week which allows real relationships to be built and for trust to develop which in turn leads to real conversations about a relationship with Christ.

I love snowbird wilderness outfitters. I attended the camp as a camper for two years and experienced two of the programs swo has to offer. This past summer I worked on the staff and got to even experience the other side of the ministry. It's an amazing camp where campers are challenged with the truth of scripture and challenged to grow deeper in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

I've seen the difference and the impact that they have and can't wait to go back again.

This organization is one that is unlike any other I have ever been too. I've been to many Christian camps but this is the most powerful one by a long shot. They really care for the kids they deal with and put everything they have into making it the best week of a child's summer. It is a fun place to be and I love it there. Before the two years I spent working there, I was a camper for 3 or 4 years, I can't really remember. I loved every minute of it. I loved it so much that I wanted to come back and work there to Experience it more and give back to the camp that I felt had given me so much more than i could ever return.

Snowbird is an organization dedicated to enhance and build the lives of young individuals strengthening them so that they may be able to live a life that impacts others and the world for Jesus Christ.
During my time at Snowbird, the time and effort the staff invested in me challenged, stretched and encouraged me to mature spiritually, emotionally, and mentally helping me grow into a stronger, more independent and capable person. The staff is very approachable, and every time I needed advice or a second opinion, I was always presented with unbiased wisdom and counsel.
Snowbird's mission is to love and serve others. Everything that is put into the ministry is poured out for and onto others. They are a key proponent in guiding, sending and supporting former staff who desire and are serving as missionaries all around the world as well as in their own community.
Snowbird is more than a nonprofit organization, by God's grace they have created a network of support and family for all who have been involved in their organization.

We got to go on the zip line, go whitewater rafting, and all kinds of stuff, while growing closer to Christ! I really learned the importance of staying in the Word while I was at Snowbird, and I hope to be on staff when I'm old enough to help teens grow closer to God like I did when I was at Snowbird!

The first time I ever heard of Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters was back in the 90's. Our son, then in his early high school years, had been on a weekend retreat with our church's youth group to a place called the Vinyard. He came back from that "retreat" (which I later came to realize was more like an advancement) excited and talking about a group of people he met who ran a camp in the mountains of NC. I clearly remember him saying, they don't just teach about Jesus/the Bible, they live it out and challenged me to do the same. He said, "My life will never be the same, because I have decided this is not a game. I want to live my life for Jesus". I remember thinking, "that's nice...I remember going away to Christian Youth camps myself and returning excited". I thought about this being a neat time in his life and how this might help him to be encouraged for a season. The reality was that his life had changed, not for a season, but forever. He nor I give the credit for this to the staff, to the awesome facility, to the exciting recreational activities....no....to the Lord. That is who changed his life...he just used the staff to teach His truth. His truth about unchanging love, might and grace became real. He and our daughter attended this camp for several years, worked there during their coollege years. Our son and his family and are daughter are now sharing this story of truth, love, and grace in South Asia and West Africa. His word became real to them, real enough to cause them to leave the comforts of the country they grew up in. It became real to my husband (their dad) and I, real enough to love people around the world more than our desires to be with them. For this, I will be forever thankful to Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters. They continue to pray for our family and check in on us from time to time. They are encourging to us, not because of who they are, but because of who Jesus is and the real relationships they have with Him.

I have taken groups of various ages to SWO since 2005 and can honestly say that the interaction from staff (both full and part time) with my students has made a lasting effect on their lives and helped them have a more genuine walk with the Lord. It is a ton of fun, but the teaching is incredible! My students, youth workers, my family and I hate to leave SWO because we feel the sincerity in each relationship that is formed and know that the staff is committed to maintaining those relationships. I encourage my own graduates to participate in their OLD SCHOOL program or to become summer staff if possible. Love it!!!

There are not enough words to tell all the good things about Snowbird. It is an awesome youth camp set in the mountains of North Carolina. The beauty of the setting is only a added bonus to what you get when you go to Snowbird.
Snowbird offers young people a chance to experience the Word of God and His love while having the opportunity to participate in extreme outdoor activities (i.e. white water rafting, rappelling, mountain biking, zip lines and many other activities). They offer other programs such as their Old School (which gives students an opportunity for college credit while giving them a chance for self-examination in a primitive setting), several mission opportunities and also retreats for young and young at heart.
Snowbird staff takes to their heart each camper. Each student has been prayed and prepared for by the time they enter the camp. There have been hundreds of lives changed because of the love, dedication and sacrifice made by the staff and management of Snowbird.
The dedication of Snowbird staff is second to none. They serve with the self-sacrificing love of the New Testament Church. Each and every student is important to them. There is a freedom for young people at Snowbird to confide and confess, if need be, without fear of being belittled or made to feel their feelings aren' important.
We have been to other camps, but Snowbird is by far the best! No one does youth camp like Snowbird!

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is one the most legit organizations I've ever had the privilege to work with. Snowbird has a big priority for safety for their participants in the many recreational activities that Snowbird has to choose from. Snowbird has its staff lead all of the recreation activities: like mountain biking, rafting, caving, and much more, for the sole purpose of building a stronger relationship with their campers. The staff at Snowbird has a heart to see their campers grow closer to Christ. The very point of the staff leading recreation activities is to let the campers feel more comfortable and have to opportunity to share with them the love of Christ.

I went to Snowbird for summer camp with my church. I rejoice in saying we will be returning this year. The camp was, without a doubt, the highlight of my summer. Since I live in Florida, and the camp is in North Carolina, it was obviously a retreat. From waking up early to have a bible study with my two small group counselors, to the activities in the middle of the day, like river rapids, paintball, or tubing, to staying up late pulling pranks on other campers, the camp was AMAZING. All of my friends are going back, and we're planning on taking two buses this year. I cannot wait until I can retreat back to this camp.

I started attending SWO as a 9th grade student in 2000. At that tender age I was interested in boys and popularity. The SWO staff consisted of mostly college age students who were passionate about Jesus and were in my eyes cool! This was a big deal for a 9th grader! The Lord used SWO that summer to show the depravity of my human soul and my desperate need for Jesus. I went back home ready to start 10th grade and to make some changes in my behavior and friends. It was difficult at times, but I remembered the passion and joy that the counselors had and knew I wanted that for myself. So, I continued to lay aside selfish desires for my Lord. That has been 11 years ago and Jesus is still the mainstay and joy of my life. I am so thankful God ordained for me to be there that summer and many summers afterwards. SWO has ministered to me as a student and as a leader to students. It will forever be one of my favorite places on this earth. Even as a 25 year old, I still sometimes long to be there.

This was a very positive, constructive and challenging experience. Many of our kids talked about wanting to join Snowbird and learn more from them while working to expand God's kingdom. Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters (SWO) is simply AMAZING!!! They do a great job teaching and discipling youth and young adults according to Scripture. Every summer, (usually in the middle of July), my youth group takes a trip to a place where the motto is "no sanity required", and the staff takes that quite literally. This place that I speak of is Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters, located in Andrews, North Carolina. Started by Steve "The Big Kahuna" Coleman, this camp has been changing the lives of teens and adults since 1995, and is still going strong 16 years later, under the leadership of The Big Kahuna, his son-in-law Brody, and various other full-time staff members. I have been to Snowbird 5 times, and each time, I enjoy myself more than I did the year before. The staff makes it known from the first moments that you step on the grounds that they're there for you, and they continue to serve you throughout the rest of your week there, through mentoring, prayer, and fun activities. The 5 weeks that I have spent there over the past 5 years have undoubtedly changed my life, and have been among the most enjoyable. The things that this camp does for not only the campers, but the community and the WORLD, (through missions), is AMAZING, and there is no other organization on THIS EARTH that I would love to support more than financially than Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters. Thank you Steve, Brody, and the rest of the SWO staff for the ways that you are helping to change the world: one week at a time.

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is incomparable to any other “organization” I have been a part of, a statement that does not come lightly from me, considering my diverse background. I frequented the camp for five consecutive summers. In the beginning I was inclined to approve of attending due to the fact that it was recreational and the counselors expressed an interest in me. In my later years, however, I began to grow spiritually, intellectually (in a biblical aspect), and ultimately personally. God used the relationships I made at Snowbird and the lessons I heard to make his will clear to me. I realized during the week of my fifth summer there that I didn’t exalt God as the source of my life, despite what I would sing on Sunday mornings. I had, as Brody Holloway often analogizes, “put God in the backseat”. Because of my experience at Snowbird I am a changed woman. I talk about this camp to EVERYONE—all of my friends know where it is, what it’s about, who runs it, and even about events that have taken place there, despite the fact that they’ve never seen it. The people who run Snowbird have hearts for mission and truly care about the salvation of the youth in America. They dedicate their lives to this cause and ask for nothing from man, seeking only God’s pleasure, relishing the day when they will hear him say, “Well done, my good and faithful servants.” I wholeheartedly believe in what Snowbird stands for and I know that God is in this place.

I am extremely impressed with SWO. The summer camp is life changing in the students and leaders who attend. Our youth group and I have attended the past 3 summer camps and will be returning this summer for SMO. This camp is full of high adventure activities that the students love and I'm sure is what brings in new groups. But the worship services and breakouts is what keeps students coming back. I was blessed and learned as much as our students did during breakout sessions. They tackle hard issues at a level that the students can relate to. The counselors become the students friends who they can talk to. There have been several counselors who have continued to be in touch and checked in with our students, just to see how they are doing. I can not praise SWO enough. They are bringing God into lives in a real way.

I worked at snowbird the summer of 2006. I had heard wonderful things about the spiritual growth and community that i would experience and that was a bit of an understatement. Although during my twelve weeks there I did not come to personally know every staff member, there was a christian fellowship of brothers and sisters that has yet to be matched in my life. During those long and tiresome days of camp I experienced an exponential amount of growth in my walk with my Lord. I heard scripture in a light that has changed my life forever. I will always support this ministry in what they do for there staff, there former staff, and anyone who steps onto there property.
During the summer of 2007 my husband and I came to seek some wisdom from the camp leader, Brody. He became personnally burdened over our unfortunate situation and to our surprise the staff of that summer collected over $2000 on our behalf. This has been an event in our life that my family will always cherish. The community of this organization is unmatched. The people, the place, the blessing will remain close to my heart.
One last note, to this day I will still listen to podcasts and keep up with whats being done there.

SWO (Snowbird) is truly one of a kind. I know of no other place that offers such excellent facilities, activities, counselors, teaching and opportunities for lifechanging experiences as SWO. Upon learning of my affiliation with SWO, people ALWAYS respond positively and enthusiasticly. I've gotten comments like, "It's SO awesome!!" "I can't wait to go back!"; "My life was changed at Snowbird."
Youth leaders often tell me things like, "It's amazing! We've never experienced anything like it"; "Our kids came home focused, with a sense of purpose for their future"; "All we had to do was show up, everything for a great week was right there." "The staff and counselors really loved our kids, it changed their lives!"
A dad told me, "Our son came home a different person, eventually I realized he had become the kind of person I wanted to be, Snowbird changed our entire family forever." I could go on and on.
I've been involved with SWO since it was just a dream in Steve's heart. It has been an amazing journey. One of the great things about SWO is how many other people Steve was able to get involved in that dream. People took their vacations to clear brush from a mountain lot, set up the first tents, dig holes for outhouses, build outdoor showers, build the first cabins, become the first "campers". They all "took ownership" of the dream. They feel like Snowbird is part of them, and it is. But not only them, somehow everyone who spends time at SWO comes away feeling like they are forever a part of it and it holds on to them forever too. It becomes a safe place to go home to. That is an amazing thing to have when you are a teen, especially if you are a teen in trouble.
That's another thing about the staff at SWO, they are always looking for ways to provide a "way out" for kids in trouble, not just emotionally, but physically as well. You'll never go to SWO that you won't meet someone who came there as a kid with "no way out" that is working there now because SWO was willing to be their "way out".
Snowbird is not just a ministry to those who come to a week of camp. The entire staff is actively involved in the community year round. They have "local missions" doing things like yard work and home repair for widow's and elderly people, and doing clean up at schools, parks and public buildings. Steve and Brody spend time with the local high school coaches and players and create activities just for them SWO. He is a friend and counselor to business and community leaders, pastors, youth workers, teachers, principles and coaches. All the SWO staff are highly respected and greatly valued members of the community.
SWO's impact is global as well. People come to SWO for the wilderness training and then go all over the world to work in "the bunga bunga" teaching English; building homes, clinics & schools; being the first to record a tribal language or giving medical treatment to remote tribes.
Snowbird's impact is incredibly far reaching. They deserve the $5000 prize for even one of these areas of impacting lives. But when you see the many ways they impact lives in so many places, you have to agree they should be the prize winners.

I first came to Snowbird as a 7th grader expecting nothing more than a fun week away from my family in the mountains. Little did I know that this would be the place where I would see God in a far greater way and meet his disciples who served and represented Him in such a way that would impact my life forever. I aspired to have that same passion for Christ and one day work there and inspire students to know and love Christ the same. I came to camp every summer since and had the honor of being on staff in 2006 and 2007.
Not only does Snowbird excel in recreation and just plain awesomeness but it is head and shoulders above the rest in why it exists in the first place. To disciple the next generation and encourage them that there is such a thing as having a biblical community and standing out in in this postmodern world.

There really is no other words than life changing; what anyone would experience if they come to Snowbird. They are uncompromising in truth and love, and biblically serve the body of Christ. Spending three summers serving, the Holy Spirit did a work in me and I had so much growth! I know it was in part of hearing and applying the Word of God, and spending time with other believers who genuinely love and pray and burden for you. Snowbird's passion is glorifying Christ and making Him known. That pours out in the way they minister to youth. That is what they have been called to do, and take their ministry very seriously. The counselors are up at 6am and in bed at 1am, staying by campers, building relationships, asking and answering questions... investing in their lives. Snowbird challenges me to be an example of what I have experienced with ministry and biblical community and bring that back home to my church and community.

My children have been involved with Snowbird for going on 10 yrs. They attend the summer camp every year. They love the camp, it instills God and religion into them. We also attend House Church on Monday nights at Snowbird. I love this church, everyone is so warm n welcoming to anyone. My two oldest children were baptised at Snowbird during their summer camp. I reccomend this place to anyone that has kids. My children have become closer to GOD and have become better children from the support of Snowbird.

It's hard to put into words the heart of the staff at Snowbird but here are a few...dedicated, sincere, hard working, fun, talented, educated, energetic, positive, giving. I have been a chaperone for my youth group at Snowbird for two years and will be returning again this summer with our youth group. This camp is special. The kids absolutely love this place and beg to return year after year. The staff and workers put their heart and soul into everything they do and it shows. I was so impressed with the way the camp counselors have been trained by the staff and are held to a very high level of expectations. Everything they do is for the kids and the ministry they are trying to accomplish. They are very wise in the way that they spend their finances and you can see that they care more about investing in Snowbird then they do about investing in themselves. I was so humbled the first year I attended to see that the counselors where staying in accomodations far less appealing then the cabins the campers were in. They definitely put the campers first. It is truly a blessing to me to take our kids and watch the impact that this place has on their spiritual lives. I LOVE SNOWBIRD!!!

Snowbird has it all! The Big Kahuna, Brodie and the rest. Absolutely the BEST student camp in America. The commitment of the staff is incredible. Lives are changed every day. It's the only camp I've seen where youth don't want to leave and are planning the dates to return the next year. Don't change a thing!

I am a mother of three young adult children. My family has been involved with Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters (SWO) since 1999.
My oldest daughter was 12 years old when she first attended SWO. Besides my husband and myself, SWO has had the greatest impact on my daughter's worldview that she has today - to love God above all else and to love and serve others. While this is a major focus of SWO for the campers that attend, the staff live it out daily. The staff serve people of their community in various ways. They also travel to give of their time and talent. They have been involved in helping build a boy's home in rural West Virginia. They travel every year to Honduras where they work with the staff of an orphanage (expenses incurred are paid for by the individual).
I've known them to allow a student who could no longer live at home because the parents were at the end of their rope, to come live at SWO during the school year. The student attended evening classes locally and was mentored by camp staff.
Now my youngest is reaping the benefit of SWO's influence on his life.
As a mother, I am grateful for the devotion SWO has to the youth of this generation.

As a Christian camp, SWO far exceeds one's expectations. With their focus on discipleship and personal growth, I have seen the huge impact of their ministries on a wide range of both kids and adults over the 10+ years that I have known them. No matter what the event or recreation, the focus always remains on discipleship in Christ. The staff is nothing short of amazing. Simply put, SWO staff has a wholehearted commitment to serving God with their entire lives, grounded in integrity and desiring to share that with whoever they meet. They stay relevant with what interests the students without ever compromising the Gospel. I have known a lot of kids that went to camp at SWO (including mine) and a lot of men and women that have been on work teams at SWO. Each one would attest that they had both a great time and that their relationship with God was impacted. Not necessarily in that order.

I had an amazing time at Snowbird! I have never gotten to know staff better. Every other camp I've been to you just stick with your one counselor and then just lead you through your day, but at Snowbird it's completely different. They genuinely care about every single person that goes through their program. It doesn't stop at the fellowship, what you learn on those trips is life changing. The amount you discover about God is awesome! I can't get over how amazing this place is. My only complaint is that it's in North Carolina, I wish it was closer so I could keep going or volunteer.

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is an amazing christian camp! It had such a huge impact on my life. The way the camp is set up makes it easy to be comfortable, make new friends, have a lot of fun, and grow closer to God all at the same time. The worship ceremonies and personal talks with the staff are very enriching and challenging. They tell the truth and really make you think about your life. All the fun stuff is representative of God as well. The hikes, the climbing, the rafting: they all show the beauty and awesomeness of God's Earth. The area that the camp is set in is the most beautiful wilderness I've ever seen. It's easy to get lost in the scenery and just stare around for hours. During the fun stuff, the staff also gives us things to think about and ponder over about our walks with Christ. The staff is extremely personable and easy to approach and become life-long friends with. The camp is remarkably clean and well set-up for week-long stays. The food is DELICIOUS! Snowbird is the best camp I've ever been to and I wish I could go every single year, because I know I would experience something different every time.

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters, Inc (SWO) is a multi-branch organization. Based in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina, SWO has made a positive on communities locally, regionally, and internationally. I have personally witnessed this organization serving under-priveledged families by renovating their homes. I have seen their personnel grow relationships with orphans in Latin America just to let them know that they are loved. They reach out with wilderness/outdoor recreation programs to both complacent and at-risk youth. And, everywhere that SWO has been, it has left a message and a hope with the people it touches: that the God Who created this world loves them very much and wants to have a relationship with them through His Son, Jesus Christ.
SWO does not mince words, especially when confronting tough issues that face American teens. They have helped countless students fight addictions to substance abuse, self mutilation, pornography, racism, self-centered pride, and eating disorders.

It was sort of like camping at the gates of Heaven. God was there! The worship services were so highly charged and on fire, the spirit was definitely in the midst of us there. The staff were all so friendly and they were really there for the youth they were ministering to. And there were so many activities that the youth could choose from. No one can can come to Snowbird and said they left bored or left without meeting with God! Each staff member was a spirit filled host for God, and the spirit of God definitely dwells at Snowbird! I was a camper at Snowbird for all four years of high school. Each year i grow more and more in my walk with God. Snowbird provides fun outdoor activities as well as the gospel of Christ. Snowbird is filled with many counselors (college or older) who are the nicest people you will ever meet. Although some get paid to work there, the majority do it because they have a passion for discipling the youth of today, not because of the money. My brother is part of the full time staff, so snowbird continues to be a part of my life. I really cannot adequately express in words how much I love this camp, but I'll try. :] Snowbird and their OLD school program is AMAZING. I've been to many camps before and nothing compares. It is a bible teaching camp that is not afraid to challenge the campers. My week with the Outdoor Leadership and Discipleship School, or OLDS for short, was life changing. The counselors challenged me and poured into my life more than they will ever know. I didn't get the "camp high" associated with going to camp this time. It was a lasting change. I realized that I was just wearing the term "Christian" as a label. My life wasn't a testament to what it really means, "Christ follower". Snowbird helped me realize this and they told me what I needed to do to change that.

Snowbird is where solid Biblical truth, meets relational ministry, and relevant outdoor adventure. Having been a youth group member all my life, the preaching and counselors shocked me out of my dead religion and showed me that I didn't really know God and I needed Jesus to save me from my sins.

Since then, I have worked at the camp for 3 summers. The camp excels in discipling their 100+ summer staff so that they can then disciple the students. They run somewhere between a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio of staff to camper, which alleviates trouble and encourages relational ministry. The staff are with the campers at every meal, in every service, on rec, and in share groups. Many of the campers continue relationships with the staff throughout the year after camp, creating the opportunity for long-term gospel-centered discipleship.

And to boot, there are few, if any, Christian camps that even come close to their level of outdoor adventure.

I've been to and worked with a lot of church camps, and as an Outdoor Recreation Major in College, I've done a lot of research on Christian Outdoor Ministries. And I can promise you this: There is no camp like Snowbird.

I have been to a lot of summer camps (children & youth), but I have never been a part of a camp that was on par with SWO. The guidance that the youth get from the counselors, who are young people themselves, is extraordinary. The youth to counselor ratio is awesome, somewhere around 1 to 4. The youth have someone close to their own age that they can relate to and who really care about them and that will hold them accountable. We had 9 youth get saved on our trip to SWO! The skits were hilarious; the dramas were meaningful, and the preaching was powerful and straight from the Word. I went to Snowbird last year as a volunteer with my home church youth group and I am returning to SWO this year with my own youth group. Snowbird sets the bar for summer camp! Period!

I attended Snowbird's summer camp with my student ministry and had the best week of my life learning about Christ in so many new, radical ways. The counselors and leaders are so understanding and helpful. They're willing to answer any question, and ultimately, help you grow in your relationship with God. When you're not attending the best worship services and small groups ever, you're growing closer to your youth group and counselors through AMAZING recreational activities or local missions. I participated in missions and had the best time painting an elderly woman's home. She touched all our hearts and was so thankful. Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is by far the most incredible Christian youth camp in the world! This is not a biased on my part, I am only speaking the truth. God has and continues to use SWO as a tool to draw me closer to Him and his heart for the world. I worked on staff in the summer of 2009. During these 10 weeks I was challenged and pushed beyong my limits, but it was worth it for Jesus' name to be glorified. As a summer staff, I built strong relationships with multiple students, some of which I am still in contact with 2 years later! Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is an amazing ministry reaching out to youth who want to learn solid biblical truth about God and have adventure after adventure in the mountains. I worked at this camp in 2007, and it will forever be ingrained in my mind as the best summer of my life. I was discipled from every direction and, in turn, was able to disciple young people for the glory of God. Even setting aside the amazing teaching from Brody Holloway and the relevant break out sessions led by the staff members to further the Kingdom of God, the camp does above and beyond in setting and activities offered. They are located in the "3 traffic light" small town of Andrews, North Carolina back in the mountains. The serenity and beauty of God's creation is utilized to create an amazing location for experiencing God. Not to mention the camp has every high adventure and outdoorsy activity a kid could want, from rappelling to mountain biking to whitewater rafting to paintball. You name it, the camp has it, and it's probably more intense than you could imagine. God has done something very unique and special through Snowbird. Their impact and reach has gone far, and I hope their influence continues to spread. I am so thankful for what they are doing for the Kingdom of God.

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters has been incredibly influential in the lives of so many of the students we have brought to camp. The camp is dedicated to teaching students about a true relationship with Jesus and how to be Jesus to the world. We have been taking students to SWO since 2000. The past 5 years we have been a part of the missions camp. I can't say enough about the positive impact SWO has had on so many of our students. They not only teach what it means to serve others unselfishly but they live it. Students see the staff practice what they preach. The way that SWO approaches teaching and leadership engages young people. It is evident that a tremendous amount of time and preparation is put into EVERY aspect of this camp. Each student is made to feel important and worthy. They bring the Gospel to the kids by any and every avenue they can find. They capture the attention of all by the way they deliver the Good News of Christ. The drama is incredible and the breakout sessions are so relevant to what our kids face everyday. I love this camp and each and every person that works so hard to make it a place our students beg to return to. The fact that safety is forefront also makes us at ease. Even thought the activities are extreme, you can tell right away that the staff are well-trained and take the safety of students very serious. We would only ever choose another camp if the Lord leads - strongly leads us to another. We love SWO!

Snow Bird has strengthened my son's relationship with Christ, his peers and friends, and even his family. He has experienced and participated in friends coming to Christ while on the mission trip. He has learned and applied leadership skills while attending Snow Bird either during a mission project, the traveling there, a comptetive activity, even devotions and study. He has gained a better understanding of wordly matters and sorrows while helping the less fortunate. My son has gained a feeling of independence away from home and family. He is able to come home after each trip and share with us through the DVD sold and then verbally of his experience and how it affected him. Just the values experienced & learned have been awesome!

I can not think of any organization, school, church or intuition that has influenced me as much as Snowbird has. I first came to Snowbird when I was 12 years old, I had just moved over 2,000 miles following my father a Captain in the Air Force. To say I felt like an outsider suffering from massive culture shock would be an understatement. However at Snowbird I fell instantly in love with the staff, the community and of course all the outdoor recreation offered. They were (and are) some of the ‘coolest’ people I have ever meet, they had a genuine desire to get to know the students and leaders and to form real relationships with them. That was almost ten years ago, since then I have come back every summer as well as winter and fall. I have brought many students there with me, all of them equally as impacted as I was.
Snowbird has over 25 different outdoor recreations offered and a staff to student ratio of one staff to every three or four students. In my experience this unique just to Snowbird, the other camps or youth centers that I have been to have a staff ratio more to the tune of one staff to every 20 (or more) students. This causes the students to have awesome experiences yes, but to form lasting relationships with people only a generation or two ahead of you who’s only wish is to encourage the younger generations to pursue Christ and help them grow and conform to His image. This is amazing to me and I highly encourage you to help them in their mission.

My overall experience with the organization has been great. I am very pleased with my communications with them over the past couple years. The staff is very personable and develop relationship with their clients almost automatically. The camp staff that is hired to work with students do an excellent job. One of the best things about them is that they spend hours and hours with students each week developing relationship and really influencing students in positive ways.

My only constructive feedback would be this- my hope for Snowbird is that they can eventually offer the camp for less money per student in order to really reach out to people who may not be able to afford camp. This responsibility does lie with the group sending the students, but I feel that if they can receive some grants and/or receive other support, then they can offer their services for less money.

I worked at Snowbird during the summer of 2011 and it was the best experience I have ever had. This organization seeks to spread the Gospel to all of the campers who come here, and being a product of this ministry, I know that they are making a difference. Brody, and the Big Kahuna, are the most selfless people I have ever met in my life, and they put absolutely everything they have into this ministry. In this economy, it is difficult for some that have previously donated much to the organization to do so this year, so any amount of funding would tremendously help in this organization. I don't know another organization more deserving than Snowbird to receive this generous gift.

We have taken our youth to CampSnowbird (SWO) on several occsassionss and have always been blown away by their hearts for the Lord and students. Our youth love these guys and manyof them have had their lives changed for eternity throuh the ministry of SWO. As a youth minster for nearly a decade, I have never been happier with a camp than I am with Camp Snowbird. They are focused on the right thing...the Kingdom of God.

SWO is a great organization. What they have been able to do with the small amount of funds and staff they have is incredible.....but this is a testament to their passion for their Lord and that those who arrive at their camp know Him as well!!! They're devoted to proclaiming the Truth and equipping students to grow in their relationships with Christ. They're high view of God's Word is something that is seen from the top down, from Brody down to the servant team volunteers. As a staffer, I was always challenged in my walk with Christ. The Summer Staff is what sets SWO above any other camp. They have high standards and the relationships built at SWO will be long lasting and fruitful. I had the privilege of working with Sam, the Cook, even he was encouraging in his walk with Christ.....the staff here is the key. They are not perfect and don't claim to be but the Lord uses their humility and faithfulness.

This place helped change my life....I would not be where i am today doing what God has called me to do without the help of the amazing families that run this place. they give kids a chance to be kids..to do things that most kids never gain the opportunity to do. And they challenge kids to become contributors to the kingdom of God. To actually make a difference in the generations coming after them. This place will always have a piece of my heart, I am a part of their family now.

SWO is amazing. Not only is the staff very involved with the students that come in, the full-time staff takes time to invest in the summer staff. Once someone goes to Snowbird it is a life changing experience. I consider myself better for not just being part of SWO but being around some of the most amazing and godly people I have ever met. I can not count the blessings I received by working at Snowbird. People are truly moved when they visit. Had I not spent as much time there as I did I am scared to think about what my life would be like now. There is ALWAYS someone there that is willing to listen and help you with whatever trouble you may be having. While I do not work there anymore the people of SWO will always be considered my family. I thank God for the incredible blessing of letting me work at Snowbird.

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is unmatched in youth ministry. I grew up in a military family. My parents would get me to church wherever we were located at the time and they would take me to Sunday school. I distinctly remember pitching a fit every time I had to say goodbye to my mother and hating that particular Sunday morning hour with a passion. I remember my teachers would always send home some type of assignment to work on for the next week and to me it was worse than homework. For a long time I had a bad view of church. I had no relationship with God so of course what we did in church made no sense to me. I was bored.

In 1997 Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters was established in the small town of Andrews. A small group of people began clearing land by hand with a vision in their minds and a passion in their hearts for this area. By 1999 Snowbird had made its way into the school system and began meeting and building friendships with the students and faculty in the county. I just happened to be a sophomore at Andrews High School when the first ever Athletes Day took place on the campus of Snowbird. We spent the day participating in team building activities with breaks in between to hear a variety of people speak to us about being role models in our schools, our communities, and even within our own families. We heard people speak about relationships, abstinence, and leadership. Most importantly, we heard about God and what it meant to have a real relationship with the creator of the world and how this would affect every area that we had heard about during the daily sessions we sat through. At this point in my life I would have told you that I was a Christian. I gave my life to Christ when I was thirteen years old on a Sunday morning in a local church, but once again I had no real relationship with God like these people spoke about. I experienced no discipleship by those who were around me and I had no idea that there was more to being a Christian than just walking down the aisle and saying a little prayer. I found my identity in sports, girls, and good grades and thrived on the attention and popularity it all brought me. This was my life. This is what I lived for. The topics that were discussed at this Athletes Day confused me but sparked my interest at the same time. I wanted to know more.

It wasn’t long before I heard about a Monday night Bible study that Snowbird was about to begin at The Rock, a local Christian youth center. This Bible study was like nothing I had ever experienced in my life. I heard a different kind of message than I heard in my local church. Not only does Jesus save, but He wanted to have a daily real and personal relationship with me. I heard a different kind of music that I had never heard before and I learned how to worship. I met a group of people who had a desire to see me grow and who loved me without even knowing me. I began to discover my identity in Christ and how to experience joy in Him. Over the next couple of years I became more involved with Snowbird. I began attending Bible studies regularly, going to the camp when groups were in on retreats and sitting and listening to services without my mother making me go, and I quickly found myself spending all my free time around the staff who really showed an interest in me and my life. These people came to my school and ate with me, they attended my sporting events and supported my team and encouraged me when they saw me later in the week. I love talking and they listened. I knew this place and these people were different.

Snowbird has completely changed my life. Snowbird has changed the lives of my closest friends. It has renewed and grown my friendships with these people like I could have never imagined. Because of Snowbird I now have a real relationship with God and I desire to live my life to honor and glorify His name. I now understand that my Christianity didn’t end that morning in my local church. The practical teaching and love that those staff had for me shaped who I am spiritually today. I was challenged to establish what I believed and to know why I believe it in order to defend my faith. I had a desire to learn about other religions so that I would have a better understanding of where they are coming from if I ever had the opportunity to sit down and share with someone who believed differently than me.

Our community is so blessed to have Snowbird and its staff as our friends and neighbors. They have such a desire to see our community grow together and discover a holy God. In my time as a supporter of Snowbird I have seen nearly two hundred local students attend the camp with the help of the scholarship fund that Snowbird has set up specifically for them. They come with no leaders so the staff that are from Andrews stay in the tents with them and build relationships with them during the week that we hope and pray will last much longer than just their week of camp.

When I moved off to college I didn’t know what to expect. I came to find out that many of the ministries on my campus had turned into social clubs. It was very difficult to find strong Christian fellowship while I was away. Snowbird continued to affect my life even at this point. I approached a full time staff member at Snowbird, and asked him if he had time to meet with me every now and then during the week to encourage one another and establish some accountability in my life when I wasn’t at Snowbird. He didn’t even hesitate and responded, “We can meet at least once a week and I can even drive all the way to your school if you can’t meet me somewhere.” Snowbird has a passion that isn’t circumstantial. It doesn’t meet the needs of only certain age levels. The staff at Snowbird have loved me, encouraged me, held me accountable, and taught me for a very long time. They have taught me what real fellowship is, and what a real relationship with God is, and although I mess up a lot, it has changed the way I live my life.

Snowbird is an amazing camp to go and find god and learn about the wonders that he has and will do for us. The love that he has shown us, and the love that he will constantly show us is so powerful that no one can grasp it. The instructors there work with everyone to help them obtain a greater understanding of what god has planned for us and what he has done. They explain how Jesus will come back for us, and he will take us with him. They helped me realize that Jesus will always be with me no matter how tough life gets. So my review for snowbird is a positive one, and snowbird is a highly recommended Camp. Thank You!

In 2007, I attended SWO as a youth pastor with my students. The week we spent there was one of the greatest years of my life. The staff was great in being very intentional with myself and the students. The changes that happened that week caused me to reevaluate my direction in my life. Two months later I moved my family to Andrews to be apart of the ministry as a volunteer. I currently still reside in Andrews and My wife and I now work in the ministry. The growth in our life is continuing as we continue to learn and then share the knowledge with others.

I worked at Snowbird this past summer on summer staff and it was one of the most amazing summers of my life. I had no idea what to expect when filling out the application, but at the end of the summer I was so thankful for the opportunity to serve with such a Godly ministry. The leadership was wise, the preaching was convicting and overall they just really know what they're doing and submit everything to the Lord!

Snowbird is a wonderful nonprofit organization. They really care about spending time with kids, getting to know them, and helping them with things going on in their lives. They bring groups of students all the time and it's a great time for the kids to get away from home and just be loved on by an amazing staff! I know several students in particular who's lives have been radically changed as a result of Snowbird. They are very focused on sharing the gospel with students and helping them recognize their need for Christ. I love Snowbird and I love volunteering there. I don't think i would ever want to work at any other camp.

Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters is phenomenal! There are so many aspects of SWO that are worth while! Their first class recreation combined with a passion for discipleship are a killer combination. While serving at SWO, I got to experience first hand just how selfless the staff are! They exhaust themselves for the Gospel! It is such an awesome sight to see. In short. I have been attending Snowbird Wilderness outfitters since 2002 as a camper and then from 2006-2009 as a staff member. The atmosphere is different than any other camp I have been to. it is backed up to a landscape that is breathtaking. The recreation is second to none. It offers you a chance to partake in adventures that you normally would not have the opportunity to take part in. The best part of it for me though is the staff and their heart for the camp and the ministry. They are there because they love what they do and they love the people that come in and out of it. There is a 4 to 1 camper staff ratio which makes your experience that more personal. You are not just a face in the crowd. They want to know you and invest in your life. My life has truly been impacted by this place and forever will hold a place in my heart. As a camper, it was the most fun, most challenging, and most rewarding week of my life. As a staff, it was the most humbling, challenging, incredible, rewarding summers that changed my life forever. I could write all day long about it. I have nothing negative to say. I can't encourage everyone enough to check it out. Thanks!

Through Snowbird I have had the opportunity to go and things I never would have otherwise: Sea kayaking, caving, rafting, rock climbing, etc...

The staff at SWO are unique and the heart of the organization. Students may be attracted to the camp for the outdoor recreation, but they keep coming back because of the person involvement of the staff and the great community they have created.

At SWO people's lives are changed through the Gospel. i have never been to a more genuine, true, and honest place where people are more consumed with the Gospel and the glory of Jesus Christ than they are with themselves. The people at SWO challenge me in my faith and in my personal growth in Christ in a way that no one else in my life has ever done. Not only did I grow this past summer working on staff, but I was humbled and amazed about the number of student's lives who were drastically changed by the message of Truth that was shared. This is a place where Christ is the King, not man. I have seen young teenage girls with a desire to fight and live very angry lives be turned away from their flesh and fall on their knees before God- and be truly changed.

This ministry does more than just support the students that come to our summer and off-season retreats. It is a major component of the local community, seeking to serve the needs of Andrews, NC and the people that live there. Through working in this ministry I have come to know many of the people that are native to that area, including the elderly adults at a nursing home, the latino population, the surrounding neighbors, local churches, and particularly the local youth of the area. This ministry supports their community in every way possible, and our Snowbird Missions and Outreach program is evidence of that. We are committed to serving the physical needs of the community as well as the spiritual ones.

Although i do not live at SWO year round, I would consider it to be my home. Brody Holloway, the camp director and pastor, is the man I consider to be my pastor is the person I seek spiritual guidance and discipline from. The staff of SWO is committed to serving the Lord and we work as a family, praying for one another, bearing each others burdens and serving together daily in ministry. There is truly nothing like this camp and the type of community that exists here.

On a more recreational level, SWO is also one of the most fun and challenging places to be. We provide multiple opportunities for "challenge by choice" activities for the students and their families and have seen so many kids overcome their fears through on and off-campus rec. As a staff we aren't afraid to be completely ridiculous in order to engage the students and help them see that we are there for them.

The strength of this ministry is in the relationships. We believe in meeting students where they are with the Gospel and then challenging them to see Christ for who He truly is and in that surrender to Him in a radical life change that the Gospel demands from us. Because there is such a strong ratio of campers to counselors, students have multiple opportunities to spend one-on-one time with people who will speak the Truth to them, pray for them, and develop and maintain lasting relationships with them.

In worship they are challenged with sound, reliable, and applicable teaching and learn about real world issues and how we are called to be conformed to the image of Christ.

Snowbird is more than just a camp, it's an escape from homelife for students, a place of refuge and renewal for adults, students, and staff alike, and a place where the Glory of God resides because we desire to make Him known and be conformed to His image.

I have over twenty-five years experience working with students. I have attended many youth camps. Most camps left our group wanting something more, that is until we visited Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters.

Snowbird far exceeded all our expectations and as we have continued to bring groups to this camp, they have continued to raise the bar. I have never experienced a camp that honors and brings glory to God like Snowbird. The biblical teaching is scripturally sound. The godly leadership is evident the lives of the counselors who are well trained and discipled.

I would not even consider going to another camp. I have seen God use Snowbird to change the lives of the students that we have taken to camp.

Words cannot express the experience that you will have at Snowbird. You will have a tremendous amount of fun but more importantly you will be brought closer in your relationship with God.

Everyone that I have introduced to this camp has come back saying the same thing, "I did not think a camp could be a great as you said, but now I know that you did not even tell the half of it."

Go take the Snowbird Experience - you life will never be the same!

I took a group of high school and junior high students from Ohio to SWO two summers ago. I stayed with the high schoolers and participated in the OLD School program which involved camping and hiking. All of my students had a wonderful time. The relationships developed with the leaders at SWO have been valuable for me and for some of my students to this day. SWO does a great job developing leaders to work with the students that attend all summer.
The students love the activites that include rafting, paint ball, mountain biking, rock climbing, etc. The teaching is relevant and Biblical.
SWO has three components: the summer camp, missions camp, OLD school. All three programs are great fun and create lasting memories while helping students draw close to God. I definitely recommend SWO.
