Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animal Training, Animals

Mission: Serenity's Mission is multi-faceted. It includes rescue, rehabilitation, education and healing. Our foremost goal is to help rehabilitate, care for and place our rescued horses into loving homes. We are passionate about providing a natural and focused care plan for each of our resident equines. We are also committed to supporting the equine community through our Education Center clinics and courses. We believe that the relationship between humans and horses is a very special one. Many of our volunteers and others have experienced a special gift of healing when working or visiting the farm. You can read more about Horses as Healers on our Events and Programs page. We are located on a farm in Maple Valley, Washington.

Results: Serenity has rescued and rehabilitated hundreds of horses since our inception. Most of the horses we have rescued have been adopted into their forever homes. Some are still on the farm in sanctuary because they are in need of a lifelong home with special care. We have also added a number of new programs over the years. Our latest program is our Horses as Healers program. In 2018 we have had the honor to support our veterans in the Wounded Warrior program though a special project called the Odyssey Project. Veterans have visited Serenity from around the US to spend a day on the farm with our facilitator and the horses. Our reviews from these clients have been outstanding. We are proud of our Horses as Healers program and invite you to read the reviews from these clients on the Great Nonprofits Review page.

Target demographics: our equine companions and our community through education and equine therapy.

Geographic areas served: several counties in Washington state. We have rescued, rehabbed and rehomed hundreds of horses since 2007 and provide sanctuary to many more. We have expanded our programs to include Education with our Education Center, Jasper Family Community Fund to help those in our community in need of support and Healing through our Horses as Healers program. We have been named the Best of Western Washington non-profits and been featured in both the Seattle magazine and in the nationally recognized horse health magazine Equine Wellness in September of 2015.

Programs: rescue and sanctuary, wellness clinics, horsemanship classes, welfare checks and support through our Jasper Family Community Fund and therapy through our Horses as Healers program.

The connection I made with this whole farm is indescribable. I met “Babe” who I felt an immediate connection with and she trusted me immediately. These giant animals are so trusting and willing to connect with complete strangers and have the ability to bond, connect and heal with us women Veterans. They can show us all how to truly show unconditional love to all other human beings, animals and even the “invisible soldier” aka woman veteran. Thank you for the life changing experience and I hope to come and visit soon!! Hopefully with my family!!
