I had started lessons with a new trainer in Feb. 2016. I was having a great time riding different ottb's and friends horses. Something was missing though and I knew that the time had come for me to start to casually look for a horse that would be good for me and my children to love and have fun with. My trainer suggested RVR. I went out to look at an ottb that they had to possibly do jumpers/eventing with. This grey gelding kept following me around the paddock and he was cute but shorter than I was even considering. When I went to leave the paddock he wickered to me and Lisa Gold was surprised as he really had not been much of a people horse thus far. So I went back and checked him out and as I looked into his eyes something clicked. This was MY horse. I sponsored him for 2 months but really knew from the first moment that he was mine, LOL. We have overcome many obstacles with his fear of humans and he is just an amazing pony! This horse has stolen my heart and I cannot believe that he was bought from a slaughter pen! He went to his first dressage show and he was AMAZING! He has been doing 10+ mile Hunter paces this year and he is a star in my book. He loves my kids, everyone at the barn, the dogs, and now instead of hiding from people he is the barn's Welcome Wagon at the entrance. The care and work that RVR puts into each and every horse, the facility, and in placing these horses into the right family is unparalled. I will be back for another soon, as soon as we have our property as Crosby will need a friend.
RVR Horse Rescue is top notch! We don't get to volunteer as often as we'd like, but each and every time we've been there - we feel like we are the blessed ones instead of the horses. The owners put all their heart and sole into these horses (and sometimes other animals that need rescuing as well). Extremely friendly and heart warming staff and volunteers that do all they can to make a difference and give these animals a voice. Highly, highly recommend donating, volunteering and/or visiting to see for yourself.
Most amazing nonprofit I have ever been a part of. Great group of volunteers and the horses are top priority. They take in horses that other rescues won't take. RVR is truly a miracle.
As a volunteer, not only did this rescue help me see how much they are needed within the community, but showed me how much I needed them. They (horses as well) showed me the true value of life!
Didn't know quite what to expect, but was blown away by the kindness and compassion I sensed when I went recently to volunteer. Everyone there wants to be there for a wonderful reason. Feeling so blessed to be able to help out and just spend time with these beautiful souls...horses and the humans who have found it in their hearts to do something to provide and care for them until they can find new homes. Such a very special place, and I pray for all of their efforts. These folks restore my faith in mankind, and have me actually hoping to one day be able to adopt when I'm better able financially. LOVE
There is no place quite like RVR Horse Rescue! It's a place of peace. A place where horses and people come to heal. A place filled with love and compassion! The horses who come to this rescue immediately know they are in good hands. Their transformations are incredible and they receive all the food, love and attention necessary to help them heal. If you want to be a part of something great please give to this wonderful organization. Whether it is to volunteer, donate or pray know that you are appreciated!
I have been with RVR Horse Rescue since March of 2013. I have seen some incredible work done by ONLY volunteers. So many horses lives changed as well as peoples also.
I have visited RVR a handful of times. I try to go every time I visit Tampa. My sister is a devoted volunteer and I love when she shows me around tells me all the different stories and introduces me to some of the most amazing animals God put on this earth. They are all special in different ways. I especially have fallen for a particular guy named Monarch. All of the volunteers at RVR are dedicated and work so hard to bring these horses back to health. This is am amazing organization!
The abused horses best friends, they are the most caring people and volunteers, I have seen first hand how dedicated and caring they are, if you know of any horse that is being abused you need to get a hold of RVR Horse Rescue
This rescue is truly dedicated to their horses. They are a very caring group of people.
An amazing place with the best volunteers doing the most amazing, selfless work saving beautiful horses that unfortunately have been terribly abused & neglected. There aren't very many places like this for horses in need to go.
These are some of the most Amazing individuals I have ever met. These horses come from the worst imaginable conditions and if not for RVR they would die. When these horses arive at RVR It is like the have been given a new lease on life. They are surrounded by love and compassion and for the first time in these animals lives they don't have to be scared or hungry ever again. I could go on and on but I can't say enough about this organization.
I have volunteered at RVR Horse Rescue for over 2 years and have seen such incredible success in rehabilitating emaciated and broken horses. They take the worst of the worst and make them whole. they are all in it for just the horses and it shows.
RVR Horse Rescue is truly an amazing place! Horse miracles happen everyday. The care and commitment from its founder, Shawn Jayroe, and the volunteers turn sad, starving horses back into the magnificent creatures that God intended them to be. Supporting this rescue means every dollar donated is put back only into the horses care. Your donations are well spent. Shawn and her volunteers are the only voices for these beautiful creatures. Please give what you can.
Everyone loves to see a healthy, well fed, happy horse running in a pasture. His head is held high and his tail is up in the air. He runs for the sheer pleasure of running. It is a breathtaking sight. The horse that arrives at RVR Horse Rescue is skinny, sick and sad. But just wait. Through the dedication, hard work and love that the owner of RVR, Shawn Jayroe, and her volunteers gives this horse, in just a very short time, a miracle happens. I have seen it. They literally breathe new life into this creature. This "street person" of the horse world becomes what it was meant to be. He transforms into the healthy, well fed and happy horse that runs in the pasture. He runs for the sheer pleasure of running and because now he can. They perform miracles everyday. The owner and volunteers work tirelessly for these magnificent animals. There is a horse heaven here on Earth. It's called RVR.
RVR is an amazing place. Shawn and her Horse Angels are so dedicated to the horses that are rescued. I, as a volunteer, know these horses feel the unconditional love, support and compassion of the volunteers but especially of the Horse Angels. I wish more people would treat their animals like they do.
Being at RVR and seeing what they do is beyond miracles. God is guiding Shawns hands to take care of these beautiful creatures when others try to destroy them. I am amazed at the work RVR is doing and seeing the outcome is priceless. You can see the love, compassion, and dedication each volunteer has to the organization but especially to the horses. Keep up the great work and making the horses live a happier life.
I'm a social media friend. I belong to many animal groups which all help,
RVR goes way beyond, the recoveries
I have seen with love, patience, and determination is beyond imaginable.
I have never felt more pride and gratitude than I do for the people and horses that are a part of RVR. Truly amazing people helping truly amazing animals. You get a serious sense of appreciation and selflessness when you're at RVR, and you can see first hand what love can do to turn around the lives of otherwise helpless and beautiful horses. Love this place.
I stated volunteering at RVR Horse Rescue because I found a place where the people there show so much love and care for the horses in need. Shawn Jayroe is the founder and has gone above and beyond to set up this horse rescue. The horses there are so healthy, happy and loved. I feel the horses there know they have been brought back from near death to a life filled with lots and lots of love and they are happy there. Everyone there makes me feel wonderful to be a part of this beautiful and special place. They not only help the horses but the people who visit them be it children or adults by teaching them about horse and the care of them. I'm proud to be a part of RVR Horse Rescue.
RVR truly cares for those amazing and beautiful animals. The passion they all have for caring for the horses is evident. It is a pleasure to visit and help out when I can and get to see the peaceful look in the horses eyes knowing they are in a safe and loving place.
RVR Rescue is amazing!!!! I have known them, and worked with them, for years. They are one of the most noble rescues, filled with integrity and virtue. Please support their efforts: http://rvrhorserescue.org/. Sincerely, Caroline Rider
