RVHR is truly dedicated to the welfare of used, abused and neglected horses...they are always there to take in "just one more". As everyone knows, caring for horses is not cheap and they do a superb job of providing for their equine friends. Many of these horses have expensive medical needs on top of basic feeding and care...They have my vote!

RVHR is a wonderful organization helping these magnificant creatures that have through no fault of their own become society's throwaways. Once broken spirited, unhealthy and othewise neglected horses are given a second chance at life. The volunteers work tirelessly to meet the horses needs.

My husband and I are former adopters. I had come across the resuce after reading about a story in the local newspaer. We called and were invited out to see for ourselfs first hand what the RVHR was all about. While being there I fell in love w Gentle Ben. Ben was a Belgian draft horse 22yrs of age. He was the love of my life. Pat worked with me on how to ride such a large gentle animal. We are horse owners just not of that size. They took the time to show me how to handle him, ride him. I was able to visit anytime for however long I wanted to while our adoption went through. The rescue is a WONDERFUL place and I thank God everyday for allowing them to alllow me the chance with my gentle giant. We are now looking to adopt a mini...hoping that goes well also. Anyone who wants or needs the experience of horses and the knowledge of the people that handle them RVHR is the place to go...2 thumbs up!!!

I adopted a pony after I was a volunteer the RVHR. She is the love of my life and I think everyone should have the same experience. There's a million horses that need someone to love them. Please adopt one, or two. It's a wonderful thing.

My interaction with Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue has been minimal
having been there only twice, however I would like to express kudos to them for taking on the enormous and never ending task of caring
for not only abused and neglected horses but a plethera of other
creatures in dire need. Their task is never ending. Their care and concern is also never ending.

Given what resources they have to work with I can only marvel at what they are able to accomplish.

My wife and I give our financial support to RVHR. We feel secure in the fact that our donations will be applied to operational cost and not spent unwisely. I feel it is a well run rescue worthly of the $5000.00 gift.

From what I've read and heard from other co-workers and friends RVHR is a very well run rescue. I feel confident giving money to the rescue, knowing it will be spent with the horses best in mind.

Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue works hard to care of animals that have been forgotten or mistreated. I have seen the level of care that is given to each animal. This staff works as if they are getting paid thousands of dollars and they work for nothing! Many times they invest their own interests just to make sure the level of care these animals receive is the best available. No one could deserve this grant anymore than this organization.
I have seen the sweat and muscle work to provide food for these animals, I have seen the tears as the ones that do not make it get held in the arms of someone that cares as they leave this world.
Their is room for growth of this organization and they need this help immediatly if they are going to continue to carry out this very important mission.

There are many animal shelters for smaller animals, but not many for our larger equine pets. RVHR is among those few and they are rarer yet in the commitment they give to the horses in their charge by making sure they are as comfortable as possible while awaiting their forever homes. Pat and the other volunteers do a wonderful job. I enjoy getting the email updates and following their Facebook page to see how some of the most pitiful beings are transformed back into healthy and hopeful horses again. I hope they can continue to give the support these horses need by us giving RVHR the support they need.

RVHR came info my life by way of my wife Cindy. I was impressed by the professional and hard working people at the rescue. We don't have much spare time to give, but we help with the cost of feed. I feel RVHR is well run and maintained, I know whatever money we give is going directly for the horses and not being wasted or misused.

The relationship my husband and I have with RVHR is many tiered. We have fostered horses, adopted one, donate our hayfields, and have found a true friend in Patricia Muncy. Patty is an inspiration to me, and I would say I don't know how she manages to do what she does - but I can't because I see how for myself. She tirelessly and devotedly opens the facility's gates and her arms to horses in need. In need of nourishment, shelter, medical attention, training, love, understanding, and end of life care. The whole idea is to find a real home for the horses that are healthy enough to leave RVHR, and provide a respite for those who are not. This all takes money. And when there isn't enough to go around, Patty digs in deeper, physically doing the work a vet, farrier or farmhand would do. It is extremely hot and dusty out in a hayfield on a tractor, cutting, raking, baling, loading. The number of bales, round and square that Patty personally put away for the horses at RVHR is staggering. I thank God every day for Patty and the other angels of mercy that help her administer to creatures great and small.

I am writing from Ontario. I own a blind ( both eyes enucleated) appaloosa. I know if I were not there for he would be a goner. I so appreciate your organization for working and caring for horses that needing to be rescued. I know well what is involved and the great need.

RVHR has one of the most professional web pages of any rescue operation I have been involved in. I am an artist and have done many paitnings for fund raisers for dogs and cats in places where I have lived and now want to help out the horses at RVHR.

The folks involved are professional, kind, open, creative, wonderful and giving and they do give their best to the horses they rescue. In fact, the place is a godsend for horses that need gentle, loving and good homes.

Their updates are the best - so full of important information that informs, instructs, explains and has the optimism required to keep an operation like this running... the updates attract benefactors. This is because of the professional and knowledgeable way they share what we, the public, need to know.

At times like these, people are reticent to give out more money because they don't have as much; however, RVSR is able to show where the money is going, you get to meet the horses and you see how much good is being done for this small operation.

There is definately a need for RVSR and I hope they get all the grants and money they need to help these wonderful, worthy horses.

I have donated items to the rescue as well as volunteered about a year ago. I can honestly say, it is a great thing they are doing. Everything seemed to be well put together and they are great people who care about the future of horses. Looking forward to volunteering again soon!

RVHR is a wonderful respite for the horses who otherwise would be put down. They take in abused, neglected, and injured horses and find them loving homes. I have rescued many animals from all kinds of situations and I am very familiar with some of the problems abused and neglected animals have. Therefore, I have total respect for the mission they so lovingly and generously uphold. This is a great place and if more people would participate in this type of rescue, we could prevent alot of pain and suffering for the animals. Keep up the great work!!

RVHR performs an extremely necessary function. We need to support the only equine rescue in this area...especially given the current state of the country. The animals are the first to suffer. Good job Patricia!

As a client, volunteer, and a donor I can only give RVHR the highest of praise. I have adopted a hose through RVHR and have used their services for a horse that I could no longer care for. I have also worked as a volunteer to help with the needs of the rescue. In all circumstances RVHR has been very professional and caring in all all matters.

I receive emails from RVHR on a regular basis and I have been very impressed with the website and with the professional pictures and stories of the horses available for adoption. I am impressed by the time and effort the owner puts into finding homes for these horses and taking care of them, especially the ones that have been abused. I think she does a great service to our community!
