What a wonderful organization! I had a feral kitty at my job that had an eye rupture. My local SPCA could not help but I knew I could not leave this poor little kitty with an eye like that. It was either the kitty had to have surgery or be euthanized. RedRover helped provide funding to help me with the cost. As I am typing this, the little kitty is at the vets office having the surgery needed. Thank you so much! We will be picking the kitty up in a few hours and he will now have a forever home with me. Thank You so much RedRover.

I cannot express enough at how grateful I am that I came across this organization. Our kitty, Nyx, had an unfortunate accident in which he ate some flowers that were toxic to him and as he was trying to pilfer them from a very high shelf, he fell, suffering a concussion. We used all the money we had to pay for his initial veterinary visit, only to find out a couple of days later that he was decompensating further. If it wasn't for RedRover, we would have had to take Nyx home to pass away. They helped us at a time when I thought my family and I were going to have to make a really hard decision. Once we get on our feet financially again, we are going to contribute back to RedRover in order to help others who are in our situation. I am forever grateful! Please contribute to this great cause!

Hello, my name is Gus. I am a 16 year old Jack Russell Terrier. Recently I was sick as a dog, & sadly my parents didn't have enough money for me to get the surgery that I needed. When they contacted Red Rover, immediately Rachel contacted my Mom with a grant to help with my surgery. Rachel also arranged everything with my Vet so all I had to do was get Better! We would like to say thank you to Rachel and Red Rover for their help in our time of need! We also want to thank those that have contributed to such a worthy cause, because of your donations I was able to get the surgery I needed, & I am feeling better every day!! We have decided the best way to say thank you is not with just words of thanks, but when we can, we will "pay it forward"!! To bring relief to another family in their time of need, is truly the only way to say thank you! Red Rover deserves this five star rating we have given them, plus two paws up!!

We adopted Savannah when she was 9 weeks old, from a rescue organization in the south. At first Savannah was active. She never was able to walk far but we thought that was because she was so small. At about 12 weeks old she started limping, we took her in to be examined. Nothing showed up on the xrays, she was given a cortizone shot and anti-inflammatories. With in a week she was walking without any problem. It wasn't until she was 7 months old that the problem reoccurred. She went for xrays again. At that time she was diagnosed with a degenerative disease called legg perethes (which is where the hip joint and femur in her rear leg disinterates,. With the cost of a new puppy, her past medical treatments and me being on disability, I thought I was going to have to give Savannah back to the rescue organization we got her from. I contacted them and told them I couldn't afford the surgery. They offered to take her back but also offered other options so that we could keep Savannah. One of the options was Red Rover. I contacted them about a week and a half ago. They got back to me immediately, with in a few days they approved the grant for Savannah. Today Savannah had her surgery, it was a little more complicated than the Dr. thought, but she is doing well. If it wasn't for RedRover, Savannah would still be limping around in pain. She's still in pain and will be for a little while, but the Vet expects her to make a full recovery. When I called to see how Savannah was they told me they received the check from Red Rover today. I have to say this is the best organization I've ever dealt with . I can't say enough good things about them. Thank you Red Rover for your help..Savannah thanks you also:) Someday we hope to give back to this organization:)

RedRover has helped several of our clients (with severe finanacial difficulty) keep their much loved pet's after a catastrphic event, when faced with a large vet bill. Our doctors and staff donate as much as we can, the staff take up personal donations and we try Facebook fundraisers to help too. RedRover also gave a donation to and abandoned dog that we raised money for and took care of and rehomed. We cannot say enough about this organization, the staff are professional and responsive and genuine....thank you RedRover for all that you have done and continue to do.....

I recently took in my little dorkie Nickie when a neighbor abandoned her. The day I took her to the vet to be spayed, I learned my little sweet dog had one kidney that was swollen to about 4 times normal size. The vet said it would need to be removed and the surgery would be about $500.00. Of course this was upsetting news but once more I had no way to pay such a high bill and as I'm sure you all know vets do not like to make payment arrangements. I applied for Care Credit but was denied and so there I was out of options and facing the hard truth tha,t my baby needed surgery and I was helpless. Then, I found Red Rover in an internet search. Sort of as a last stitch effort I filled out the east online application and to be quite honest I did not expect a reply. The very next day I was contacted by Laurel who was so
concerned for my poor Nickie she asked a few simple questions and soon she told me she would love to help me and offered to grant $200.00 towards her surgery! Now my baby can be well and I don't have to face the guilt or shame of not being able to afford to help her. I am so thankful to this organization. I truly feel that they are a Godsend.

I rescued a Yorkie from a foster/rescue in Louisiana after my daughter found him on Petfinder. Unfortunately, the foster/rescue wasn't up front with the health of this little guy. He had suffered in her care and was not healthy, He is going to require some extensive medical procedures and I refused to turn my back on the little guy. I had just incurred over 700.00 in expenses for two other dogs and was not prepared financially to spend the money needed to help the little guy. I am so thankful for the help RedRover has provided us.

Not only did they help but responded back to us within the hour. They immediately started sending me everything I needed and reaching out to my Vet and ultimately saved my dog. This is an amazing organization and they truly care about the people and animals that need this type of help.

I was given a small dog that was rescued from a law enforcement and Humane Society raid on a "Puppy Mill". Little "Hannah" had been there for most of her 6 years. When I recieved her I was told she had little health care. She was in great need of dental work. I took her to my Vetinarian who estimated that she would need to remove 4 teeth and as many as 8. He gave me a written estimate of cost for her care. The high end amount was $360.00. I am disabled and live on a fixed income that is not very much. I did manage to get the Money for the high end estimate. I took Hannah in for her dental surgery. They called me after the work was done and let me know she was doing fine. They also told me that they ended up removing 21 teeth. An adult dog should have 42 teeth. They also told me that the cost was going to be an additional $150.00 more. I was dumbfounded. How was I going to pay this extra money. I found RedRover from a local charity (in NC). I e-mailed RedRover and within a few hours I got a phone call from a very kind and helpful woman named Laurel. She had all my information and was calling to tell me that RedRover could pay $150.00 for Hannah. The application was easy to fill out and I had explained my story to them. They were real life savers. It would have taken me months to pay off that balance on top of the $360.00 I had managed to save up. Laurel called the vet and they worked out payment for me. I was and am very grateful for RedRover. Without thier help, I would have had to surrender my poor little dog. Today Hannah is out of pain. She is eating whatever I give her. She can even eat those dry dog biscuits. She no longer has any infections from her mouth. She is a very friendly happy little dog. She stays close to me and has really become a social butterfly even after the horrid conditions she was living in before she came to me. I'm sure if she could talk, she would thanki RedRover and Laurel herself.

I want to Thank Red Rover.org and Laurel in particular. My new little dog Hannah, was rescued from a puppy mill. She had spent almost 5 of her 6 years in horrid conditions with little human contact and almost no vetinary care. The lady who rescued her, knew that Hannah was just what I was looking for in a dog. She was right. I got Hannah home this past April. I knew she needed dental work. Got an estimate of $250.00 to $360.00 to remove at least 4 teeth and possibly 8. I contacted Red Rover, and within a day, they had answered my request and donated $150.00 towards Hannah sugery. I also recieved a donation from The local Blue Ridge Humane Society. Hannah had her surgery on July 26th, 2013. The Vet, Dr. Kevin at All Saint's Animal Hospital removed 21 of poor Hannah's teeth. He said she was lucky that the infections didn't spread to her heart. Today Hannah is doing well. She is still on antibiotics and Pain Meds, but she is eating soft food and is up and around and almost back to her good old self. The expenses were more than expected, but with Laurel's help, I am able to make payments to pay off the balance of her bill. I am very grateful that Red Rover was able to help Hannah and myself. Now Hannah will be a healthy little friend and is no longer in pain. Thank you again.

This is a wonderful organization. Our sweet, very active, 3 year old dog escaped from our backyard and was hit by a vehicle. He was quite banged up and worst of all, could not walk. The vet could save him but he needed surgery. We had already been struggling financially and were having a terrible time coming up with all of the money for the surgery he needed. I contacted Red Rover and they called me back within an hour. They were extremely compassionate. Our vet's office had no problems speaking with their representative. Red Rover was able to provide our vet a grant promise within a few hours so our dog could have surgery the same day. This is a truly awesome organization!! I plan on donating to them in the future when we are in a better financial position.

I have a young male cat named Chuck who is a very friendly and loving cat. He was diagnosed with a urinary blockage causing him severe pain and discomfort to the point where the vet told us he would not make it through the night. He was admitted to a local emergency animal vet close to me and they proceeded to operate on him almost right away. As we were discussing funds we became in financial trouble with the amount that everything was going to cost and RedRover was able to contribute to the emergency center. I spoke to one person, Laurel, the whole time while dealing with RedRover and she was very polite and communication between us was no problem at all even though the location was out of California and I live in Pennsylvania. She understood everything that was going on and worked with me while I got paperwork from the vet. Great friendly service and thank everyone involved in making RedRover a successful organization. Thank you again and keep making the world a better place.

A few months ago I found a dog wandering in a swamp, half starved, lost, sad, and with a wound that looked like he had been "bumped" by a car. I took him to my vet who tried for several weeks to treat the wound with antibiotics and it worked for a while; however, a few weeks ago the spot started to get larger and I took my "Chance" to a new vet for a second opinion. She immediately recognized the spot as a tumor and recommended surgery. I contacted a friend of mine who has worked with several rescue organizations and recommended that I apply for a RedRover gift. These guys responded immediately, and Chance had his second chance within a week. The staff is friendly and compassionate. They truly do care about the animals they serve. I can't say or do enough to thank them! Chance and I are very satisfied and he's so happy to be rid of his tumor.

The page is very well organized, also. I like that about the web page.

Even if I was not able to give a great high stupendous amount, as I think of the word "donor" to mean, I still read a personal thank you note of gratitude. I give to numerous charities, and to me her e-mail makes a difference. I will definitely give to this charity another time when I have teh money back to give to animals in charity.

In July, someone came into the animal hospital where I work with a puppy that had been hit by a car. His femur and femoral shaft were broken and the owner decided to euthanize the puppy, rather than have a puppy that "couldn't walk". My family decided to adopt the puppy. We named him Babe and he is a complete joy! However, with three children of our own and three children that we have legal custody of, we just could not afford the $600 surgery that Babe so desperately needed. This message is for everyone and the Red Rover Staff, Thank you so much for helping save my beloved cat Bam, he had 3 abscessed teeth removed by the Downtown Animal Care Center, on Thursday the 25th of July. It has been 4 days since his surgery and he is already eating a can of food a day and showing displays of affection, he even let me brush and pet him in my lap, something he hasn't tolerated for the past month, while he was sick with infected teeth. I am so thankful to have an organization like Red Rover and the generosity of the Downtown Animal Care Centers employee, (Kerry the dental technician) for donating their services and time to assist with financial help when I was unable to provide proper care for my best friend and beloved pet Bam. I have told my story to all my family of friends, and encourage them to donate money to the Red Rover relief fund and to support our local shelters whenever possible. Bam and myself thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and support. Best Regards, Jennifer Venrick and Bam

When my best friend and constant companion, Jotti, developed open Pyometra, I was devastated. We had little money to pay for her emergency ovariohysterectomy (the emergency vet center wanted nearly $4,000). Time was an important factor, but the vast majority of vets are closed on Sundays. Refusing to sleep until my pup was taken care of, I spent my time researching Pyometra, vets, and ways to fund her surgery. RedRover's timing was simply amazing. The Humane Society would do Jotti's surgery for around $400 and, just as we were talking about payment, a representative from RedRover called. They funded about half of Jotti's surgery. Now, she's at home and recovering nicely. Needless to say, I owe Red Rover a great deal and will do what I can to ensure that they are repaid for their services.

Red rover came to my rescue. My beloved dog, Big Dog has a tumor (non cancerous) that need to be removed long ago. Because of financial hardship I could not have the surgery and thought I would have to put my friend to sleep. I was so sad. I started to Google to see if I could find help. I did through Red Rover. I contacted them on a Tuesday and was instructed to complete an application which was very straight forward and simple. This was very important due to my frame of mind!! I sent it back to them. I was contacted the very next day and given further instructions to complete the application. I did this immediately. My vets office and Red Rover worked together and made it happen. Red River approved a grant to save my sweet friend. His surgery is scheduled to be done August 13th. This happened in a matter of 3 days. They will mail a check directly to my vet taking 7-10 business days. I cannot recommend Red Rover highly enough. They are quick and to the point. They get things done efficiently. Red Rover was instrumental in helping our organization get the funding needed for my foster dog, Preston's surgery. He had been neglected and in pretty bad shape when he came into foster care. He had been diagnosed with possible bladder stones 3 years before, but his owners never did anything to help him. When we got him an xray confirmed the presence of significant bladder stones. The surgery was more expensive than the norm because Preston had been allowed to eat only people food and was overweight. Just like with people, it makes surgery more risky. We were able to raise some of the funding through a fundraising campaign, but not enough. The Red Rover grant process was not overly complex and they were incredibly responsive. Within 2 days, the grant was approved! I will definitely be contributing some of my own personal funds so that other dogs, like Preston can be helped in the future. Thanks Red Rover!

I went to the shelter with my elderly mother to find her a companion to keep her company. We knew that Tippy had heartworms and that she had been a puppy mill dog but she seemed healthy at the time. She was spayed the following day and sent home. For the next two weeks she vomited and had diarrhea off and on and both were tinged with blood. She wouldn't eat or even get out of bed. We took her to the vet several times and ran up a hefty vet bill. The wonderful vet finally figured out that she had an intestinal parasite and cured her. But, we still had to deal with the heartworms ! My mother is on SSI and I am newly self employed so neither of us knew what we were going to do ! I started researching and wrote to over 10 organizations that claimed to help with vet bills. Only two responded ! The first one was Red Rover. They offered to help with her heartworm treatment right away. I was so happy that they actually cared and responded as quick as they did. Thank You so much for helping us save Tippy's life and Thank you for all that you do to help others.

I was so impressed with Karly and RedRover that I asked Karly to come and speak to a restorative justice class at CSUEB, focusing on empathy. My cat potato was diagnosed with stomatitis last year. Stomatitis is a disease where the immune system attacks the gums of the teeth and causes an immense amount of pain. He couldn't even yawn fully without snapping his mouth back closed and twitching in pain. He got to a point where he swallowed his food without even chewing with his teeth! I was in the process of finding a vet but could not afford the procedure until I found an office that with a down payment, will accept payments. I reached out to red rover and they helped me with my down payment. Potato is now fully recovered, after having all teeth removed he is happy as can be with huge yawns! He eats hard food and swallows it whole no problem. He is much happier and has a ton of energy. I can also rub his face now he is not as head shy. I am so happy he can now live a long fruitful life with my husband and I.

I am a Red Rover volunteer that worked the Greensburg, Kansas tornado a few years ago. It was long days, and sometimes dirty work, but I felt so good knowing I was doing a small part to help the people and pets of that city where literally nothing remained. The animals that you could love on while they were waiting to be returned to their owners brought joy to my heart. The best part was when the owner came to permanently pick up his or her pet. Everyone was so happy and of course there were tears as well for many different reasons. Red Rover is 100% tops in my book.

RedRover was an incredible help, exactly when I needed it most. I can't think of enough good things to say about them!

My beautiful dog, Lucy Lou, had inhaled something into her throat while we were playing in the back yard and started coughing violently. 36 hours later, she was getting worse and I was frantic. After just paying for a surgery for my cat a few weeks prior, my college tuition bill, and my husband's doctor bills, we simply didn't have enough for the emergency surgery she needed. We were considering the gut-wrenching idea of having to put her down for sheer lack of funds.

I couldn't sleep that night, and as a desperate and last-minute attempt at 1 o'clock in the morning, I reached out to RedRover and filled out their application online (free) and went to bed. Less than 12 hours later I got a call from Laurel who gave me hope. It was only going to be a few hundred dollars, but that was exactly what I needed. I had my regular vet fax over the estimate and within minutes I was approved for a $200 grant to save my Lucy's life. I wanted to reach through the phone and hug her and couldn't stifle my tears of joy thanking my lucky stars that I had found RedRover. This organization saved my puppy's life.

5 stars just isn't enough.

On my home from work in August 2010, I encountered two guys trying to catch a small black chihuahua. It was around midnight and very dark. You could barely see the dog and it was running scared and very fast. I joined the chase. We were in cars and would stop, get out and try to corner the dog, but it kept getting around us. Finally, after about 30 minutes of pursuit, we threw a sweatshirt over the dog on someone's front porch and nabbed it. I tried to hand over the bundle to the guys, but they said it wasn't their dog and that they were just trying to catch it so it wouldn't get run over in the dark. They didn't want it. We already had four dogs and knew my husband would freak if I came home with yet another rescue, but what could I do? I took the little dog home and noticed she had a large mass like thing on her lower abdomen. Despite extensive attempts to find out if she belonged to anyone or had escaped, no one came forward. When she came into heat, I concluded that she had likely been used for breeding, but could no longer do so due to the large mass and was dumped by the side of the freeway. Three months after her capture, I took her to see a veterinarian. It was determined that the mass was actually a large hernia. The surgery to repair it and neuter her was expensive and I couldn't afford it, so I began looking for help. United Animal Nations, now known as RedRover provided a grant to help pay for the surgery and gave me ideas on how to raise the rest of the funds. I was able to get a special credit card deal to pay for the rest of the veterinary charges. I named her Roo and now she is part of our furry family. I am eternally grateful for RedRover's help and financial assistance. I love little Roo and am so happy that RedRover was there to help when no one else would. My son and I attended a RedRover event in 2011 when they changed their name and it was fabulous fun!

One night after work, I found a little Chihuahua dog running wild and lost near the freeway and managed to capture her with some degree of difficulty. She had a large protruding mass on her underside. After making major attempts over a 3 month period to find out if she belonged to anyone, it seemed pretty clear that she was probably used for breeding and when she no longer could, dumped and abandoned. I took her to a vet for examination and it was determined that she had a large hernia requiring expensive surgery. I already had 3 dogs and a bunny all of whom were rescues. The California State budget crisis had impacted me with furloughs equal to a 10% pay cut also. I tried to find a way to get assistance for the surgery, but no one would help. I applied for a grant to United Animal Nations, now known as RedRover. They were so kind and graciously supplied a grant of $200 toward the veterinary care needed. I was able to apply for a 0% interest for one year credit card to pay for the rest of the cost. I am extremely grateful for their help and forever indebted to them. It may not seem like a big amount of money, but for me, it made a world of difference. The little dog, Roo, is now a happy and content member of our family and part of the pack. Her surgery went well and she made a complete recovery.
When UAN announced their name change to RedRover, they held an event here in Sacramento that I attended. I got to meet many others who had been helped by them as well. It was a wonderful event and the volunteers and staff were some of the nicest people I've ever met. Please endorse RedRover in the GREAT Nonprofits as a Top-Rated Animal Welfare organization.

I work at Animal Protection of New Mexico (APNM), and part of my job is administering APNM's Companion Animal Rescue Effort (CARE) program, which provides foster care for companion animals of domestic violence victims.

A recent case involved a victim's dog that was diagnosed with breast cancer and dental issues while in foster care. A veterinary examination was performed the vet clinic of another local nonprofit, Animal Humane New Mexico (AHNM) at no cost, and surgery was recommended.

The victim could not afford to pay for the procedure, but between a grant from a local charity and the RedRover Safe Escape grant program, the bills were covered, and the dog was later reunited with her grateful owner!

Laurel from Red Rover talked me through the procedure of applying for the grant and was instrumental in getting all this accomplished. Thanks to Laurel & RedRover for all you do!

I am most humbled and grateful. My kitty, "Hooper",aka "Hoops" "the Hoopster"or "Dunker" was hit by a car and will be having her back leg removed in the morning. It's taken me most of the day to understand that animals don't fret over limbs like humans do. . .and Hooper will be just as happy in a few weeks to lay-out on my husbands lap for brushing as she has always been. (Yes, she literally jumps on his lap and stretches out as far as she can, assumes a "vogue" profile as if to say, "I'm ready for my close up...get the brush Jim.")

The vet bill is understandably costly. A friend at work referred me to Red Rover for some help. I filled out the application and was called within hours. I am so touched. I thought I would either have to give Hooper over to the organization I adopted her from, only to be adopted out again because I couldn't pay the bill. I couldn't stand the thought that she would have to go someplace else when our home is all she has known since she was 8 weeks old. Red Rover is AMAZING -- stepped right in and helped with enough of the bill to have the surgery so I can bring the Hooper home later this week.

Laurel was wonderful, Red Rover is the most incredible organization I have ever come in contact with. I've spent much of my adult life raising money for non-profits that help people...noble, but nothing has touched my heart the way this organization has. Animals don't take sides, they don't get involved in politics and they are always there for us.

Thank you Laurel and Red Rover. We will get past the immediate hump and will check back in with you to see what WE can do for you. If anyone out there has a couple of extra dollars, I know where it would be utilized...I could never have guessed to be in need for this, but we are and Red Rover was there for us. I look forward to the day sooner than later, my "pay it forward" will be in funding right back to you!

Thank you, from our hearts...and Hooper's too.

RedRover deserves a thousand stars. No amount of thanks or praise seems enough for their acts of kindness, compassion, and professionalism.

My sweet cat Natchez was a 1 y 9mo old rescue from the local humane society. He was brought into the emergency vet with acute renal failure. The vet felt he had a chance for a positive for a normal life due to his young age and otherwise good health.

Unfortunately, that very same say, I had a biopsy and found out I have to have a surgery in two weeks. I am a full time graduate PhD student in counseling psychology finishing my first year. My plan is to go my clinical rotation in a year at the VA, and work in the future with soldiers and refugees experiencing traumatic stress. I am unable to work as my program is fulltime, year round, with a 20 hr/week unpaid clinical rotation for all years of study.

RedRover quickly stepped in and provided compassion and hope during what was a most difficult time. I was so touched by their support and generosity. I am moved to give back in whatever way I can. Rachel from RedRover was always available and she followed up with me every step of the way. I truly felt I was not alone. A thousand thanks is not enough.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO DONATE TO AN ORGANIZATION, I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT REDROVER.

Among the many things I have done in my life one of the most rewarding was that I owned and operated an Animal Sanctuary from approximately 2000-2009. I saved many abused and abandoned little creatures and spent thousands of dollars out of my own pocket to accomplish this daunting task!

Due to a vast array of horrible personal experiences, (that I will not bore you with), I was forced to give up my Sanctuary when the bank foreclosed on the home in which I was living. I moved to a one-bedroom apartment for disabled people of low-income. I was able to bring one of my saved cats with me. His mane is Ocelot and he is my best friend.

On April 11, 2013 at a "routine" office veterinary visit, a tumor was discovered at the back of Ocelot's mouth on the gum-line. It had to be removed and biopsied. The April 11th bill was $266.03! The estimate for the surgery was $516.00, (exclusive of any extrusions that might need to be performed after the doctor had Ocelot under anesthesia)! I paid the first bill but since I live on a Social Security Disability check, I did not know how to pay for the surgery. I needed a miracle.

I filled out a RedRover Relief Grant Application on April 18, 2013 and, (very near tears), spoke to Rachel at RedRover to answer a few questions that she had. Later that day I received an email from Rachel stating that RedRover had approved a grant that would provide enough money for the vet to agree to the surgery!

Naturally, the vet wanted MORE, which I have been able to obtain through two additional rescue organizations.

Thanks to RedRover my best friend Ocelot will not die!!! There are no words to express my heartfelt thanks to the people at this wonderful, caring organization!

Miracles DO happen!

Red Rover Relief was truly a blessing to our family. Our dear border collie Aurora was diagnosed with a large bladder stone that needed surgery to be removed before obstruction occurred. My husband has been unemployed for almost a year and we have a 4 month old baby boy. We struggle weekly just to put food on the table and gas in my car to get to work. We were devastated to learn of this news because we knew we would not be able to afford the procedure. I probably had like $3 in my bank acccount. Red Rover was able to give us a grant that saved Aurora and significantly helped with the cost of the surgery. They were very kind and really did care about helping our precious family member. Aurora received her surgery yesterday and is recovering well. We are forever thankful for this organization and know she may not be around if it was not for their financial assistance. THANK YOU!!

I found Red Rover through the Mosby Foundatation. I sent an email and laurel a very nice lady from redrover called me almost immediately. Prior to her calling she called my Vet to get all of my Great Danes information for his surgery which I have scheduled for this Friday. Butch has to be neutered as soon as possible because of urinating blood and an enlarged prostate, now his surgery is a lil more involved due to him being a chryptorchid. This is when one of the testicles do not descend during his growth. So there complications involved now when they need to go in and find the little guy to get it out and prevent future cancer. I am currently not working and being that red rover donated a grant I was more than happy because every penny counts when you have a pup that you love so much. Butch came to me at a time in my life when i needed to get well and now im returning the favor. I want to say thank you redrover and all its volunteers for helping his surgery happen soon ..... Thank you for caring about the cat you rescued and trying to save him. It takes a kind person to do what you did for him, and we are very saddened to learn that he did not survive. Over the last several years, the number of applications to the program has more than doubled while the available funding has not grown. You're absolutely right -- having to say "no" to situations like yours is heartbreaking, and we want to do better. The reality is that the need exceeds the available funding. We are working hard to increase funding to the program so that we can help more pets in need. RedRover receives more than 3,000 applications each year to the RedRover Relief grant program. Though our extremely limited funding prevents us from giving a grant to everyone, every application receives an individual review to assess if the situation qualifies (program guidelines are available at www.redrover.org/grants), as well as numerous fundraising resources and referrals. We are proud of providing so many life-saving grants and resources through the RedRover Relief program, and saving many more animal lives and preventing animal cruelty through our other programs. We look forward to continuing to grow and help even more animals in the future.

This past Christmas of 2012 we decided to add to our family by granting our 11 yr. old daughter a wish of getting the ever-so special gift of a puppy. What 11 yr old kid wouldnt wish for that? So instead of spending what little we had on some kind of new electronic gaming device we decided that a puppy would be the pick. Sure enough we went through all of the motions of finding that perfect little fur ball. This is when we met Echo. We picked him out of a litter of Siberian Huskies in which all of the colors you could imagine. The reason we picked him was because he was a very light shade of blondish red and that he was lying on his back with his feet in the air unlike all of his upright sitting dark red or black sibs. Eyes still shut and all looking very cute. Soon after a few weeks we were able to see that his eyes were open and very very blue. This is something we did not even expect, blue! 2 Days before Christmas we drove 5 hours away to pick him up and was not impressed by the situation we saw. I will not go into detail but we expected a little better of conditions, still we grabbed up our Echo and left knowing that he would atleast have a better place than where he began. We celebrated our Christmas around the tree and our daughter was elated. Things were just fine but two days after the holiday Echo began to act strange. He slept alot, whinned, and didnt act very happy. Soon, we noticed that he was favoring his left eye. Long story made short, all within the time we noticed something "off" and 24 hours later, Echo was blind in his left eye with the diagnoses of Glaucoma. To our horrors, a couple of weeks later, his right eye did the same. This confirmed that it was a born with disease. It was a hard couple of weeks trying to figure out the best route to go with Echo whom was generally in pain quite often even with the prescription eyedrops. This is a terrible sentence to be given to anyone or any creature. Glaucoma is very painful and we can see it in Echos face everyday. He will only be 4 months old this coming month and was diagnosed with glaucoma at 3 months. He went blind all within that month and that is a horrible thing to witness. Happy playful little furball chasing the kitty around the living room to little suffering furball who cannot see and is bumping into walls. Not only is this sad but it going to be financially draining on our little family. We did not expect this to happen, nor did we plan for something like this to happen so we never saved money for something like this.
I was surfing the web about Glaucoma when I came upon a website called "Red Rover" and decided to ask for help because without someones help, Echo would never be able to get the surgery that he needs to relieve the Glaucoma. With the help of Red Rover, Laurel and a very very angelic person whom remains anonymous to me, Echo will now get the relief he is yearning for. These folks that have come forward to do such heartwarming caring and kind favors deserve a special reward and I wish I had something to give. The only thing I can give is my special Thankyou. Thankyou for your help. Thankyou for your devotion to animals. Thankyou for your kind hand in helping this sweet little husky puppy live the rest of his life atleast not in pain. There is never enough words to say. It warms my heart to know there are such wonderful people in this world and you know who you are. Thankyou again.

I am a Coordinator of services at a domestic violence shelter. We help individuals with providing a safe, confidential place to go when they are trying to get away from an abusive relationship. We received a call from a victim and she stated that she was living in her car because she could no longer risk she and her "Angels" life by staying in the home with the abuser. The victim spoke about how she was in a deadly tornado not too long ago and that she ended up in this area because she had no where else to live once she lost her home. She spoke about how she took safe refuge to a closet in her home and that when they came out once the storm passed all she had left was her father's flag. She spoke about how blessed she felt to still be living and how she knows that no matter what comes her way that she continue to press forward. Unfortunately she now finds herself in the midst of another dangerous storm needing to a safe place to go but is not sure what is available for she and "angel". We approved them for dv services and informed her about what resources were available to assist with housing them both but how we were somewhat limited with just was available at the moment. She spoke about utilizing a back up plan to keep "Angel" in the car if she had to but we all knew that something had to be figured out. I contacted Red Rover and was so impressed with just how fast they responded and went to working to help us with getting boarding services until the victim could look at other safe and stable options for her loved one. It was such a joy to witness just how much relief and gratitude the victim displayed once she found out that "Angel" would be well cared for while she went to work and completed her goals to get them a new place. We can't say thank you enough to Red Rover and all of their supporters for providing " a shelter in the time of storm". Well done team!!!!!!!

I rescue senior and terminally ill dogs and give them palliative and hospice care. Usually the rescues I work with can manage the vet bills, but not always. One Saturday night I got a call from a volunteer in a Baltimore shelter. There was a 15 year old (more or less) cocker spaniel, and if she was still there in the morning she'd die. I said yes, sight unseen. Twinkie arrived at my house that night, and she seemed in pretty good spirits. But, she had the worst teeth I've ever seen. Even the vet couldn't tell how many she'd lost and how many were just rotted through and through. The infection caused her to have a chronic cough - sometimes she'd cough for half an hour straight. Her breath, to be honest and graphic, smelled like poop. In our house she thrived emotionally and is one of the most affectionate dogs I'd ever seen - and she'd rear up for pets and hugs, and people would turn away because they smelled her breath. Driving - in December! - we had to do with the windows open. She needed a dental, that's for sure. But, before we could do that, Twink needed to get her thyroid levels up and needed meds and another blood test for that. Vet care in this part of the country isn't cheap - even with the rescue discount from the vet, we were still talking about possibly $600 or more. The southern, out of state rescue that committed to Twinkie didn't have the funds, and I fundraised as best as I could, but I'm not great at that and I'm new at it.

RedRover was amazing. First, they were unbelievably responsive. Within 48 hours of my application, I had a phone call from E., one of the RedRover case managers. She outlined the program and let me know additional information and documentation she needed from me, and I was pleased to see how well they do their due diligence. E. was also encouraging in my own fundraising efforts, giving me advice and tips. Some of the information needed to come from the vet, and where there were some bureaucratic challenges on the part of being able to reach the vet and get the info to the right place, etc. (all the issues were from our side, not RedRover's), E. was very patient. Deadlines were clear, and communication was key. I believe it was not even 10 days after I applied for a grant, that I received the commitment email from E. on behalf of RedRover. They usually provide small grants, and pay the vets directly, thus helping to ensure that people aren't using animals to simply generate funds.

I love that this organization is committed to the idea that no one should have to give up their animal, or let them die, because they can't afford vet care. I love that this organization is willing to help out a 15 year old dog.

My wife and I have been blessed to be able to place approx. 40 animals we have found into good homes, and up to now have been able to absorb the cost.
But, Two days ago we foung a beautiful black cat sitting about a foot from a busy street.
The cat was sitting, but mostly unresponsive to us... I thought perhaps it had been hit by a vehicle/
We took the cat immediately to the vet where x-rays were done. They found that the cat had ingested aluminum and small rodent bones and also has a broken leg. The vet did not want to schedule surgery without the cost being paid up front. We had already spent 225.00 on the cat, but now needed more money to get the surgery started.
my wife and i went home and prayed about it, we asked God for his help, and then set out to do as much as we could as well.
The next day we contacted redRover for possible assistan
I spoke with Rachael @ RedRover who was very kind and pleasant to talk with. Before the end of the day, they had agree'd to help in a substantial way, and thus allowing surgery to take place this afternoon. We are very thankful to God and RedRover for serious help in time of need. Gid will bless them for it - I have no doubt. Thank you so much RedRover, Nathan and Sheila Elliott Lexington NC

I recently was made aware on this organization when our family dog needed a surgery I could not afford but was crucial to his quality of life. This is our first experience in this situation and didn't know what to do. After contacting Red Rover online I thought this is gonna take forever, but to my surprise Esperanza contacted me the very next day and everything was processed by the next day. It was such a relief to hear that our application for help was approved. It is a great cause and I will not forget Red Rover and when I am able to I will help the cause in anyway I can. Thank you so much

Years ago I joined United Animal Nations. I drove past the modest UAN building when I visited in Sacramento, California. I followed them by newsletter and magazine. A few years ago UAN changed its name to RedRover. The good work for animals continued and expanded. These are real people doing human being things for animals, and they're not too big, not aloof. They are always training volunteers who are there in place in a crisis, or who can travel swiftly to the scene where they are needed. I am very proud of having supported this great organization for many years.

I had a cat that required an emergency amputation but I did no thave the funds to pay for it. I started an online donation fund in the kittens name and in addition applied to several charitiable organizations for animals. RedRover was one of the origanizations that I applied too and received a confirmation of acceptance / eligibilitiy within 24 hours. RedRover was a life saver for this poor little kitten that had been dragging around a dead leg for about a week or two before I rescued it. I plan to donate back to this foundation in the near future so that they may have the funds to help save another animals life. Christine "Catonsville, Maryland"

I am so grateful to Red Rover for helping me with a little white terrier male who was hit by a car. I was on my way home from work and saw Peppe trying to drag the back of his body up onto the sidewalk on a very busy road. I had to stop. With help from another person, we got him on a sheet and I had no money to help him, I only knew step 1, which was to take him to a rescue ranch that is low on funds and over limit with the animals they already have. They were able to give me $100 to start blood work, xrays and iv and then we would worry about the next step. Well from that point on, friends connected me with groups who helped pay for his tests, he was later taken to ER for more xrays, tests and surgery to remove joint that connects to leg. I searched for ways to help pay for his medical and found Red Rover. They were so touched by this sweet dogs story, they immediately helped. I was overwhelmed by the kindness of all who helped and the compassion of Red Rover, even in the midst of them trying to help Hurricane Katrina animals. I just want to say thank you and even writing this brings tears to my eyes. You don't know how much it means to me. Peppe is walking well, and I still have him trying to find home (but not easy to let go!). I will have to send updated pictures. He has come so far and is a beautiful dog with the most amazing, sweet personality. I recommend anyone who can afford to donate, please do, they do what they say they do and help so many animals and people. Thank you, thank you again from the fullness of my heart.

Red Rover, and in particular, Esperanza, was truly a blessing for me and my family. Our beloved rescued shepherd, Wyatt, was hit by a car. He was severely injured. Since I'm a single mom of three children with chronic illnesses, we have been financially devastated. I was so worried that I wouln't be able to pay for Wyatt's mandatory surgery. Because of Red Rover, I was able to make arrangements and move forward with my dog's medical care. He is now on his way to recovery, and will have a good quality of life. My kids and I are so grateful, and I plan in the future to take a more active role and give back to other animals in need.

After I retired from a career of over twenty years. I found myself sitting at my computer trying to help every and any non profit animal rescue organization. I'd sit and cry, tears running down my face. My heart breaking, reading some horrifying stories.Starring into the computer I'd send off five, ten or twenty dollars to try and help. When I came across RedRover a light went off in my head and heart. Here is a group that I could get trained and be of some really needed help. If I didn't have the money, I had the time to help. And RedRover has different areas of experience that I could apply myself. And make a difference, see the difference, and feel that I made a difference! I have been on three rescues as a responder. I have been trained a RedRover Reader as well.

I am an animal lover, especially of cats. So it pained me to have the thoughts of despair and without when i thought i couldnt care for my little cat's abcess. Untill I searched the internet and found red rover, an organization that is a caring, compassionate, and life saving goup of people. You lended me the helping hand I needed to spare my 8 month old cat named Stripey from so much suffering and potential life threatening problem of the abcess on the side of her body. You made it possible for me to put het through the necessary surgery to remove the dead infected skin. And insert a tube to drain out the infected fluid. Now she is saved on account of your caring and big hearts. There are not any other animal welfare places that could help me when my cat and I needed it most. They are mostly all out of funding or have special criteria. But not red rover. They saw the severe need I had and reached out to help as soon as I submited the application. And they were more then willing to change vets when i realized the first one would'nt work for me. I have rescued wild animals since I was very young through Project Wildlife and on my own. I have been below the poverty line for quite a many years now. Now for 4 years I have been a single parent mom trying my hardest to scrape by. My son and I have helped the cat's in our more rural suburban neighborhood for a while now. Ive helped any and all animals that I have found injured or abandoned. In this case I helped one cat out by taking her home from in front of a walmart where they were trying to find homes for them. She got out and a neighbors cat got to her. So she had 3 babies young. So I found a good home for 2 of them and kept one. That one is Stripey and she is a special little one that really likes to talk to you just like a human. She makes all the difference in my son's life as well as a very loved companion. Thank You from the bottom of our hearts for your pure compassion and big hearted generous caring. Anyone reading this can you please give a donation to this grand organization?

RedRover came to my reduce today after emailing over the weekend. My cat needed extensive care because he had developed crystals in his urinary tract resulting in an enlarged bladder. Without treatment the Vet said he would die. My vet gave me a sheet on RedRover and I applied and even though it was the weekend Esperanza called me and helped me out. I had to take Kitty to the ER for today and tomorrow. I could not afford to keep him in the ER overnight and RedRover especially Esperanza came to my rescue and paid so Kitty could spend the night and get the care his vet wanted for him. This organization are Angels and they really come through. There are no words that can describe how wonderful they are or how much to say Thank you. They are just great people who love animals and want to give the animals the best care that is possible. Again thank you Esperanza and Red Rover for all you do.

Animals have been a part of my life ever since my earliest memories. As a kid I took for granted having pets and keeping them healthy - my mom took care of all the bills, so I had no idea how much taking care of animals can really cost. As I became an adult, with animals that were my responsibility and not my mom's, I started realizing how expensive animals can really be. It's simple enough to budget for the yearly check-ups, but when an emergency arises, too many times people must choose between the health of their animal and feeding their family. Recently, one of my cats unbeknownst to me swallowed some string, which then lodged in his stomach and intestines. My wonderful vets were able to save him, but it was a close call and cost a lot of money. Luckily I was able to afford it. So many are not. I couldn't imagine having to make the choice to euthanize an otherwise perfectly healthy 2 year old cat simply because of cost; unfortunately every day many people are forced to make such a decision. Thank goodness RedRover is there to help. Their wonderful, compassionate staff not only provide financial help, they also provide emotional support and expert advice on how people can raise money on their own to help defray the vet costs. While RedRover can't cover the whole bill, and can't provide financial help to everyone who asks, they always provide a shoulder to lean on. And their other programs are equally wonderful - promoting humane literacy, sheltering animals during emergencies, and helping to go after animal abusers. Their tireless staff believe passionately in their work and make this a wonderful, effective organization to be a part of.

I first deployed with RedRover (as United Animal Nations) in 2009, assisting in the care of over 400 pit bulls seized in the largest dog fighting bust in United States history. Seeing these beautiful dogs, some with horrific injuries and illnesses, and witnessing their beautiful spirits as well as their ability to forgive and love touched me and changed my life forever. Since that time I have deployed on another 12 rescues, from natural disasters like the Joplin tornado to puppy mill seizures, hoarding cases and cruelty/neglect cases. I have helped care for dogs, cats, horses, birds, goats, rabbits, and many other species of animals in that time. All of these animals have touched my heart and after witnessing so many cases, I wanted to have a larger impact. So in 2011 I applied for and was accepted as a Board member for RedRover. I always knew what a great group of people we had in the field with the RedRover Repsonders but had never met any of the other staff of RedRover. To say I was impressed is a huge understatement; every person on the staff is totally committed to and dedicated to the RedRover mission. I would put them up against the executive team of any Fortune 500 company! And not only are they good "animal people," they are also excellent "people people." I am proud and honored to be a part of this organization and look forward to having an impact on more animals (and people) in the future.

I cannot imagine my life without tail wags to greet my every day. My love for animals continues from my childhood in which my neighbor would allow me to help her with the rescue of all kinds of injured animals in trouble. Years later, I took my passion to Africa, and began to work with Zanzibar Society for the Protection and Cruelty of Animals. As I returned to the states, I wanted to continue my efforts towards being a voice, advocate, and helping hand with animals in need. I researched many organizations and RedRover (at that time United Animal Nations) grabbed my attention with the programs it had to offer. I decided to join as a Responder. Not long after, I was deployed as a RedRover Responder to St. Louis for the largest Federal Dog fighting raid in U.S history. This was a life changing deployment for me. The dogs had taught me the definition of strength by their resilient nature, tail wags, and sloppy kisses despite the immense pain, suffering, and torture they endured by a human hand. It was beyond comprehension. Their eyes, touch, and faces will never be forgotten. In addition, the compassion, kindness, and teamwork I experienced from my fellow vollies were powerful! I was proud to be a small part of an enormous effort. I was proud to be a RedRover Responder. My level of respect for RedRover’s programs far surpassed anything I could ever have imagined. After meeting the CEO and staff, I realized that not only is this a well run organization with several wonderful programs, but also, it is run by extremely compassionate and hard working individuals who all share the love of animals. As a result of all that transpired, I am now humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve as a RedRover board director. This is an organization that I whole-heartedly believe in and am committed to its furtherance.

As I type this there is a dog at my feet under the desk and two others sound asleep on beds in my office – I guess that qualifies me as a dog person. In 1994 I began volunteering in various capacities with shelters/rescues and along the way I have worked with many good people. Very rarely do I come across an organization that has the whole package – RedRover is one of those organizations. From an amazing CEO to incredible volunteers to a diverse board of directors, this organization is simply one of the best. Their focus on creating an organization with a strong identity, a solid business foundation and a collection of wonderful people is a formula for success that will have a tremendous positive impact on the lives of many animals.

I know i was born to make a change by helping animals and doesnt matter if i get paid well, i would feel like i am doing a change in the world. I went to Canada to study english and during that time i volunteered in a hospital in Saskatoon, and it changed my life. I am in college right now, studying for biology so when i finish my major I can dedicate my full time to help wildlife animals or abused animals. it makes me angy how people are desconsiderated and just kill animals for their own benefit, it makes me sick, and i want to do something about it. I hope volunteers and people that work in here keep doing it :) my best wishes for all

I kicked up my own Cool Dog campaign in my town after finding a dog inside a 106 degree car in 2007. The town Animal Control Officer refused to release the dog until the owner returned, 25 minutes later. That made me realize the breadth and depth of ignorance on a problem that is pervasive. My successes I owe much to RedRover for providing educational materials and resources which I learned much from. They also offered needed support and credibility to my efforts. RedRover is providing a REAL and very tangible product that is helping achieve the most important element in changing our culture to realize the value and inherent worth of animal life, and what animals bring to human life - and that animals deserver respect and kindness in their own right.

Daunte is my 12 year old cat. I have raised her since she was 2 weeks old, which included bottle feeding and other special care needs for a kitten that small. Her mom had been killed in a farm accident and my friends and I all stepped up to make sure Daunte and her siblings had a fighting chance. Daunte was recently diagnosed with a Mast cell tumor which was located on the top of her head, right next to her ear. It had recently ruptured, and although it had healed it was likely to rupture again. Her surgery was considered urgent b/c of that and the fact that if it grew any larger, they would not have had enough skin to cover the wound once removed. I had reached out to RedRover for help due to my financial hardships and the urgency of the care needed. With their help I was able to get Daunte in for surgery within the next month thankfully b/c the morning of her surgery the tumor had started to rupture again. Daunte is currently recovering from her surgery but it was very successful, there was enough skin still to make sure the wound was closed without any deformities and they were able to get enough skin around the tumor to make sure that it was all removed. RedRover was not only amazing in their donation towards Daunte's care, but with giving advice to other ways to help raise money for her care and just genuinely caring and compassionate towards both my cat and me. Like I said, none of this could have been possible without the help of RedRover and their generous donors!! Thank you!

My 12 year old male, neutered cat named Oreo, had experienced a urinary tract obstruction, which happened to turn into an entire week long emergency, which was emotionally and financially draining. After an entire week of hospitalization and around $1,200 worth of veterinary fees, It all came down to my cat needing an additional $700 surgery. I'm a 23 year old female, who goes to school full-time as well as works to support myself. I'm not by any means wealthy, and I had tapped out every single one of my resources, picked up every available shift at work, but my rent was due, as well as my finals and I was down to my last dollars. Faced with the reality of euthanizing my cat or proceeding with a surgery that I could not find the funds for, RedRover stepped up. I talked with the most understanding and sympathetic women named Esperanza, and after working through the numbers with me, she went above and beyond helping me. Originally she found me a $300 grant to help with his surgery, but after sympathizing with my situation and knowing my desperation, she contacted a women who is a donor. This women had lived a similar situation to mine when she was my age and she felt for my situation. She graciously saved my cats life by granting me another $350 towards my cats surgery, saving his life. I can not express enough in words, the gratitude and appreciation I have for this foundation and that women. It has changed my life and I am so thankful that there are people in this world who without knowing me or my love for my cat, would donate their money to save his life. The Best Foundation, Thank you RedRover. I thank you unconditionally from deepest part of my soul. I send your efforts all of my positive energy.

In May 2012, I contacted Red Rover when my twelve year old dog Duste was diagnosed with bladder stones. This was now a matter of urgency. I am a senior citizen on a fixed income, and I live alone with my dog. I was told that he would need to have surgery, or be put to sleep as he was not able to urinate on his own. Having no other resources, I felt quite panicked at this thought. Thanks to Red Rover and two other organizations, I was able to have the surgery done. Duste is doing fine now, and I realize that this could have had a completely different ending. I thank Red Rover with all my heart for their compassion and caring.

I had been meaning to put together some fliers warning people of the dangers of leaving their pets in a car on hot days, when wouldn't you know it, I received an e-mail from the Care2 organization. The Care2 organization had a link on this very subject, with the link taking me to the RedRover website. I ordered some great fliers and posters from RedRover which were exactly what I had been looking for. I checked out the organization on the www.CharityNavigator.org site, and RedRover has very good ratings as a charity organization. So I decided to donate on the spot. I will continue to watch this charity, and if they continue to be rated as a reputable and effective organization, I will continue making donations to help them with the great work that they do. Thanks for the wonderful and compassionate work that you do RedRover!

Thanks to RedRover, I filled out their application for a grant to help with the cost, and they approved me within the next day. A couple months ago my house burned down and I lost all of my babies. I had a puppy, a bunny, two mice, and my kitty Wizard. When the fire department got there the only one they could revive was Wizard. They sent him to a vet's office, but being that we had everything in our house we had no money and wizard needed tons of IV's, medicine, and was placed in an oxygen therapy tank for 3 days. A friend on facebook told us to try RedRover. I filled out my application and not even 15 minutes later I got a phone call telling me that I had a $300 grant coming my way! But even then, my vet bills exceeded the amount of money that we had and realizing that, they also put a picture of Wizard on their website with a number to text to send donations! And as if that weren't enough, they also agreed to match the donations made within 24 hours! They helped me so much in my time of utter dispair, and now my family is rebuilding and I have one very happy and healthy kitty who is a blessing to us every day! Every day I thank God that RedRover is around, and I will be volunteering/spreading the word about them!

I adopted a 2 month old puppy from the local animal shelter, a baby pitt bull mix. Her name is Ciao Bella and she was the most intelligent, smartest puppy I have ever met-so smart and quick to learn and love me back for it. Shortly after, she showed signs of parvovirus. I took her to the vet who confirmed it and he told me she had a 50/50 percent chance to live. My puppy was miserable and scared. Living on a low income, I turned to Red Rover for assistance. They were immediately compassionate and eager to help. I was greatly relieved. Ciao Bella slept on one of my tee-shirts to remind her of me. When she recovered, the assistant brought her out and she ran like wildfire to me and wouldn't stop kissing me and whining, she loved me and wanted to go home. Ciao Bella is the best puppy in the world and my life is incredibly brighter with her at my side. I am ever grateful to RedRover for their assistance, but more, for their compassion and immediate expressions of hope and encouragement. My puppy is alive today because of RedRover. I became stronger and hoped for the best because of the reassuring words they gave me. Thank you, RedRover, Ciao Bella sends puppy kisses!

Hello, my name is Silvia Flores and I am the owner of a beautiful Chow mixed dog named Fluffy. Fluffy was sent to the emergency room because he was in a serious state and the vets said he needed surgery. The surgery cost so much money, and it was either get the surgery and there was a chance to save my dog or put him to sleep. I didn't want to do that. I knew the expenses were going to be high but I didn't care. I told them to go ahead with the surgery. Being 20 years old and a college student, I didn't have money to spare. I searched all over the internet for anyone that might be able to help me and I came across the Red Rover. I signed up and was surprised to get a call the next morning! They were so nice and considerate of my feelings and were glad to help Fluffy out. They contacted his vet and gladly decided to help me out by donating $200.00 to fluffy's operation. Fluffy recovered nicely and I am so great full to them. They showed me and my dog kindness and I recommend them to anyone who needs financial help for their beloved pet.

Redrover helped my dog Daisy, her previous owner of 6 years was going to take her to the pound thinking herpeeing in the house was behavioral. I scooped Daisy up and took her to the vet and turned out that she had a stone in her bladder the size of an avocado pit. Daisy is a small 12 pound Lhasa Apso mix and the stone made no room for her to hold anything in. At the time I could not afford to pay for the surgery. My mom's vet did the procedure for a quarter the price and redrover donated half and between my mom and some more donations we were able to fix her:) Daisy is fine and spoiled as ever. I'm very thankful for Redrover, they helped Daisy when no one would. She is my best friend and I'm so grateful for nonprofit organizations.

I am so impressed with Red Rover. I love the fact that they go in when large scale rescues are needed as was the case during Hurricane Irene and the Joplin tornado. Red Rover has done a sensational job of exposing the misery Premarin mares endure on the pee lines and the slaughter of resulting foals so mothers can be bred again and again for this "harmful" and unnecessary drug. The grants provided to needy individuals who are seeking veterinary help for their animals are so heartwarming to read. I can put myself in the place of many of these folks who love their animals dearly and just need a bit of financial help. The "lifeline" grants are a wonderful thing to do.

I have volunteered with RedRover since 2007. I have found the office staff to be very knowledgeable and professional, the field staff to be skilled, compassionate and organized, and the mission to be direct, critical and easily communicated and executed. In a world where the celebrated volunteer is the one in the field pulling animals from burned and flooded areas, RedRover is filling an unsung yet critical need of providing emergency sheltering for those rescued animals. Without these sheltering services there would be no rescue. RedRover volunteers are team players and know their value, whether they are preserving evidence in a cruelty case, feeding and cleaning disaster animals or providing comfort for evacuated animals and their humans. This organization is well-managed, smartly-staffed and highly-respected.

Red Rover is fabulous. Lifeline grants for people with pets in need of medical who can't afford it, supporting women and their pets who are trying to get out of domestic abuse situations, providing on site emergency sheltering for animals in crisis in natural disasters, hoarding cases, puppy mill seizures, helping communities become educated on disaster preparedness plans including their pets, the My Dog Is Cool Campaign to educate the public on the dangers to pets left in hot cars, Red Rover Reader Volunteers who are educating our children about responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of animals, promoting animal adoption, and last but certainly not least, the Red Rover Reporters campaign which encourages people to report situations of abuse and neglect and offers financial incentives to encourage witnesses of animal cruelty to come forward. What is NOT to love about this organization and its volunteers? I have been on one depolyment for Red Rover, and I am truly amazed at the way everyone in the organization mobilizes and comes together to provide care for these animals in crisis.

We adopted Lucy, a black terrier in August 2011 from Enlightened Cannines rescue. She was doing amazing and then we had a thunderstorm in Norco. While we were both at work, Lucy tried to escape from her pen during the thunderstorm and she injured her leg. Lucy ended up breaking her back leg femur bone. At the time, I had just been in a car accident in which I totaled my car. We are a very low income family and have 4 rescued dogs we now own. Lucy needed surgery costing almost $1300. We faced the decision of putting her to sleep or coming up with the money. With the help of REDROVER and other donations, we were able to get the surgery she needed. She now is completing her recovery process and has come a long way. She is running, jumping, and enjoying her newly healed leg. Thank you REDROVER, without your help, Lucy would not be here today.

After being draggged kicking and screaming saying 'oh I just cant handle seeing animals abused' to a RedRover orientation several years ago, I learned I could handle 'it' and have deployoed several times since then on cruelty seizures. I encourage any animal lovers out there to stop sitting around crying watching programs on Animal Planet and get involved to make a positive impact on the lives of the animals dealt a bad hand by humans. Trust me= the feeling knowing you have been a part of caring for little victims of greed is a much better feeling than being helpless to do anything for the animals you see on TV!!!!

When Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast, I wanted to help the animals that were left behind and stranded with no food, sitting on the roofs of houses. I couldn't go to help out at that time, but I knew that I wanted to help animals who couldn't help themselves. I looked online to find out how I could help animals and I found United Animal Nations, now RedRover. The first training that I was able to attend close enough to home was In June of 2010. I have been on 2 deployments of puppy mills rescues. Helping these animals has opened my eyes to the neglect that these poor dogs go through living in terrible conditions and having no social contact with people. Seeing a dog that comes out of it's shell and warms up to you after what it has been through is something that I can't even explain. These dogs learn to trust again. Some of these dogs have never stepped foot on grass. Just knowing that they have a second chance at a loving and caring home and knowing that they will no longer have to live in crates with wires under their feet 24/7, warms my heart. I am so proud to be a RedRover Responder and if there are people out there have a love for animals and want to help, I would recommend becoming a RedRover Responder. It has truly changed my life. Thank you to a wonderful organization that helps bring animals out of crisis!

On September 7, 2011, our home in Broome County New York was flooded. My husband and I were not at home when the flooding began and we were not allowed back into the area to get our animals out of the house. On September 12, 2011, we were finally allowed to get into the house. The water reached to within one and a half feet of the ceiling of the house. Three of our animals, Coco a male bishon/poodle mix, Al, a male black house cat, and Ginger, a tortoise female cat, had all drowned. Walby, another black male house cat, was no where to be found. We thought he may have washed out of the house during the flood.

Miraculously, a soft cry was heard buried under the ruble the flood left behind in our home. It was our Walby. As we were living in a shelter with no way of keeping him with us, a wonderful woman and professor at Binghamton University opened her home to Walby. Two days later, Dr. Kathy called, some what alarmed, to say she was taking Walby to the vet as he has an infection. I met her there as I had no proof of rabies and wanted to make sure he got another shot.

Walby was diagnosed with a tumor and needed immediate surgery. There were little expectations for Walby's survival. I had contacted several other organizations, but all said no guaarantee of life, no funds. I was devastated. I continued on until I found Red Rover. There site also said, only to pets with a chance of recovery and survival. Desparate, I sent the request.

To my surprise, they accepted Walby into their program and donated $150 to his uncertain surgery and biopsys. His surgery went well. Biopsys returned with the worst news. He had squamous cell carcinoma, a death sentence. He was on anitbiotics and prednisolone and daily vitamins. He was given a poor chance of survival, basic expectation -- a couple of weeks.

On October 29, 2011, Walby returned to the vet for a check up. He has gained 9 ounces and his 'unshrinkable' tumor is shrinking! Walby would not be alive without the surgery. Walby would not have had the surgery without the support of Red Rover, Dr. Kathy, Binghamton University and The Cat Doctor of Endicott, NY.

He plays, eats and acts like a normal healthy cat. Until you look at his nose and eyes, you would never know he has any thing wrong with him, let alone squamous cell carcinoma in his nasal cavity. In 7 days, he will have survived two months from the day he should have drowned in a flood, 30 or so days past the time he should have died from cancer, all because Red Rover took a chance on him. Thank you Red Rover. No one is guaranteed any outcome, even on the simplest surgeries. Complications can occur at any time and to any level of health. Red Rover still took the chance and to date, has given Walby a life sentence over the death sentence all the other organizations gave him.

Forever grateful to Red Rover

I didn't know there are anyone out there that could have helped us, that is until I found Red Rover. My husband had been laid off from his job of 11 years, we have two young children and then I noticed my kitty, ok Cat, Mela who is 12 years old (older than my oldest child) had a tumor come up on her right shoulder. I checked her everyday, sometimes up to 10 times to make sure she was ok. When it started bleeding I knew we had to do something, I mean this kitty is part of our family. She used to wake me when one of my children was crying, she would come get me when one of them needed me, but she has never hurt anything. Not even a fly lol. But you could tell she was hurting. When I found Red Rover I was amazed at the friendliness of the lady I spoke to. I had already been told by 3 other places that they couldn't help. Mela needed to have surgery to remove the tumor. I was so scared that we were going to be told there was nothing that could be done, but with the help of Red Rover, Mela had her surgery and is now home! She is happy again as are my children. My dog Smiles had 2 tumors for about a year; one on his genitals and one on his back. The vet I took him to said they weren't life threatening so I just kept an eye on them and let them go. Then the one on his back erupted and became severely infected. Then I lost my job of 16 years. I took him to the vet again and they told me it would be about $600 for surgery. I didn't know what to do since I had no income coming in. I didn't want to lose my dog; he is such a big part of my family. Incindentally, I rescued him when he wandered into my yard after someone had shot him in the side. I nursed him back to health and ever since then he was part of the family. I searched on line for any help I could find when I found Red Rover. They contacted me back within a couple of days and were able to donate $200.00 towards his surgery. I wouldn't have been able to get his surgery done without the help from Red Rover. I would have had to have him put to sleep. I can't thank them enough for what they did for me and Smiles. He is doing fantastic after the surgery. It's like he is a brand new dog; happy again. Without the help of Red Rover, he wouldn't be here today. God bless them.

My loving, beautiful, 7 year old cat Blue Lady was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor on 07/22/11. I was devastated because I didn't have the money to treat her. I lobbied literally every single animal-based non-profit known to man. I filled out 20 page applications and wrote email and letter after letter to plead my case to help Blue have a fighting chance at life. Most of the other organizations that I reached out to either didn't respond, and the ones that did sent a quick email stating they weren't able to help for reasons ranging from they "only helped dogs" to "no funding available at this time". I even started my own online fundraiser for Blue, since I really did not think that anyone else would be able to help me. Then, I applied to RedRover. Laurel called me back within a hour of my submitted application, and told me that RedRover would like to help Blue Lady out with what they could. I was FLOORED. Not only did RedRover get back to me in an insanely timely fashion, they were also telling me that they could HELP! I wanted to cry I was so happy. RedRover sent Blue Lady a $200 grant to assist with the cost of her surgery. It's been almost a month since Blue's surgery, and every time I look at her, I realize how lucky we both are. If Blue hadn't received surgery, she would be dead by now. I have RedRover to thank as one of the most generous donors towards Blue's cause. RedRover helped to provide my cat with a second chance at life, something for which I will always be grateful for.

Within days of our adoption Bailey had passed. We waited a few months and choose to adopt again, a little mixed lab named Miley, she was doing great until she to began displaying signs of Parvo, we had brought her in and indeed, Miley too had parvo. The devastation set in, I coundn’t bare to put her down, but we had just spent close to $1000 dollars for the first puppy who passed. I frantically contacted organizations that I found by googling. RedRover made a donation to aide with Miley’s care. Without their quick donation, Miley may have not been able to receive the care we needed and we probably would have gone through another heartache. Now over a year and a half later, Miley is a happy healthy lab mix with lots of energy and excitement for life. She has a clean bill of health and gets many complements on how beautiful she is. I would like to extend my gratitude to RedRover (formerly United Animal Nations) for helping us in such a time of need. The representative was friendly and prompt, again, Thank You!

I rescued an 8 -9 mo old German Shepherd pup off the center divider on one of the most busiest freeways in So. California during rush hour traffic on my way to work. She was in such bad shape I figured she probably layed down to die. She was severly emaciated, dehydrated and had a leg that was broken in two. I couldn't let her die. I took her to my vet and told him the story. I told him to fix her. Do what he had to do and I will find a way to pay him. I planned on adopting her out once she was fully recovered. I contacted a radio station and they aired her story and I reached out to the animal communities. Actors and Others for Animals donated and also referred me to United Animal Nations (now RedRover). I emailed them with my story and the information they had requested. They came through right away with 200. toward her bill. They contacted the Vet and worked directly through him. Freeway's (appropriately named) bill was over 5000. and she spent 6 mo in the hospital. She was adopted out to a 20 acre horse ranch and she runs like the wind now. I couldn't have done it without RedRover or any of the others that donated to Freeway. It's amazing what can happen when we all come together. We saved Freeway's life.

I first heard about RedRover (formerly United Animal Nations) after Katrina. I was drawn to this organization because they use volunteers to go to areas hit with disasters to care for the animals left behind or displaced. I have watched them grow over the years and now with the hurricane on the east coast they are standing by with people to help animals in need. I try to support them as much as I can, even though it's not a huge amount. There aren't huge administrative salaries involved here; but a lot of volunteers.

We had just moved into our new home (downsized due to no jobs) and Moxy appeared at our door emaciated with both ears goozing with blood and puss. We had a choice - feed our family or help this cat. We found Red Rover (United Animal Nations) and a low cost vet to help us save this beautiful, loving cat. With their help, we were able to have her ear operated on to remove the staph infected tumors in her ear (actually both ears but the doctor deemed only one ear was worse than the other). She is now recovered (after more tears of ours that we could describe from the terrible pain she was in). She is the most wonderful, affectionate, and giving animal we have ever had in had in our lives. It's like she knows we saved her. You can't imagine how much she has given back to us in love... We have sold one of our cars will pay back Red Rover (and replenish our savings). I hope this inspires you to make some sacrafices (big or small). Our misfortunes have humbled us in so many ways. Moxy is our finest example. She has made us better "people".

2 years ago my beloved cat Fang was hit by a car in front of our house. His injuries were extensive. His upper and lower pallats were both split in half lengthwise and his orbital socket was fractured . My husband was out of work and the company I worked for was closing. We had no money. I was devastated, but through a grant from Red Rover they helped to save Fang. Today other than the lost vision in one eye you would never know Fang had been hit by a car. Thank you Red Rover you helped save me from a terrible loss!

When my dear Kloud, freshly adopted had his neutering botched we quickly ran up medical bills trying to get him better. Without the donation from RedRover he may not have made it. What's best about their program is that they have a fast and effective response team. While other organizations took days or longer to get back to me, their response was immediate and the aid arrived to the vet's office quickly. They helped provide a ray of hope and relief during a stressful and emotionally exhausting time.

I was in desparate need of a grant to help my cat (Dexter) with a much needed surgery. His Urinary Tract was 100% blocked and he needed an expensive surgery for him to live. One of the people at my vets referred me to UAN and they were very willing to help me with getting what I needed for my cats surgery.
I was very impressed with how smoothly everything went. I filled out the paperwork late that night and early next morning I received a call. From there the ball just rolled.
I am so happy for the help I received when I was in great need of a miracle. Dexter is a happy healthy little boy now. He loves to play with his siblings. Having this surgery was a matter of life and death for him. He is only 2 years old and what a tragedy it would have been if you were not there to help me. I can't imagine my life without him.
thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your great generosity.

I was unemployed for a few months in 2010. I adopted a 10 year old male Cat from the Shelter who was abandoned by a couple who were expecting their 1st child.

I adopted this kitty in August of 2010 and the kitty was depressed for his old family. He stopped eating and I needed to take him to the vet and have him hospitalized for a week. I didn't have sufficient funds and thus needed help which RedRover donated some funds which helped greatly.

Although my kitty Bishop passed away few weeks after his hospitalization, I do appreciate RedRover coming to my rescue during a very difficult and painful time.

I am working now and am moving forward. I appreciate RedRover's help,

I rescued a pup on the road I work on in 2010. Starving and abused, "Sam" was in need of care. I brought him to my vets office where he was checked over and was found to have heartworms. Not having the funds myself to treat the worms, I began searching for organizations that might be able to fund his treatment. I found Red Rover, formerly UAN, on the internet. Their Good Samaritan Fund provided $200 of Sam's heartworm treatment cost. (the rest I paid) My intentions were never to keep Sam, but to nurse him back to health and place him in a loving home. We are still fostering Sam and will continue to provide him with love and the proper healthcare(heartguard, annual shots, etc) he deserves. Red Rover is a great organization that came through for Sam. Without their help he would have eventually died from the Heartworms.

My indoor Persian, Ojo, got outside in July of this year, and he was hit by a car. At the ER Vet., amputation of his tail was recommended. I chose to get a second opinion from my regular Vet., and he decided Ojo's tail could be saved. SInce Ojo's tail had been severed the whole length of his tail, it took many stitches to start the healing process. Also, Ojo's genital area had been injured when he was hit, and he continually strained in the litterbox and urinated blood. Because his injured genital area was a concern, Ojo spent several nights at my regular Vets. for monitoring. Of course, my primary concern was Ojo, but I was also starting to worry about paying for his care since I am only working part time, and I had already accrued $750 in medical bills. Although I applied for many grants, I was denied because many organizations had been affected by the economy and had lost previous donors. Luckily, Red Rover contacted me immediately and said they may be able to help. Esperanza at Red Rover was not only communicative regarding what amount they were able to contribute, she contacted me consistenly asking about Ojo's condition. I felt Red Rover was truly compassionate and dedicated, and I am so grateful for their organization.

In November 2010 my boyfriend and I rescued a cat off the side of the freeway who had been hit by a car. We took her to different shelters and vet hospitals and no one would take her in. We decided to take the responsibility and try to save her life. Our family vet gave us an estimate of over $1000. We did not know what to do. I found out about UAN/redrover on the internet. They graciously gave us a donation for $200 to help with the vet bill. UAN/redrover's donation and along with money raised through donations from friends and family, we were able to cover Brooklyn (the cat) vet bills and give her a chance at life. She is now living a great life with other cats and a dog thanks to the help of UAN/redrover.

He was less than a year old then, and I was desperate for any help I could get to save him. Red Rover helped me get a homeless cat I adopted life-saving surgery. I took the cat to the vet because he wasn't using a rear leg and it was swollen. Turns out he had an infection in the leg that was easily cured with antibiotics, but the vet found a far more serious problem. The cat had a large diaphragmatic hernia, most likely as a result of being hit by a car. Surgery estimates were over $1,000 and since I was jobless, it was out of the question.
I found out about this organization from an acquaintance who had received an award for her dog's surgery, and I also found them listed on the local SPCA's web site.
I applied online, received suggestions for raising money, and someone called me on the phone that same day to ask some more questions. Later that day I was notified that I was awarded $200 towards the surgery. This made it possible for me to take the cat to the surgeon. The surgeon was surprised at the size of the hernia, and said that everything from his abdomen was up in his chest and the organs on his right side were being crushed. She said he should feel much better and he does! He has gained weight and is much more active. His whole attitude has changed and he is a friendlier cat!

I contacted United Animal Nations ( now known as Red Rover) and told them the story of Hope (our new kitten) and that she was truly surffering, how we wanted to help give her a chance and a new life. They didn't hesistate in helping us. If it hadn't been for them we wouldn't have been able to save Hope. I fail to understand the glowing reviews here. If CN gives a charity only 2 stars, that should be a big red warning sign. Something is very wrong. The group may be good to volunteers, and may do one thing well, but there is something wrong financially when CN can only give 2 stars. Animal Nations, what are you doing about this?

As UAN’s CFO, I would like to address concerns about our 2009 Charity Navigator (CN) Rating. Our Efficiency score, which rates how we spend resources, was 3-stars, which means UAN “exceeds or meets industry standards and performs as well or better than most charities in its Cause.” Our Capacity score was lower, as our income and program expense did not grow over previous years. UAN scored well in past years with 4-star ratings in 2005 and 2006, particularly after a spike in donations and program expenses from Hurricane Katrina. This raised the bar for our CN rating score going forward, since CN gives high scores for increases in income and program expense. Unfortunately, 2008 and 2009 income and expenses retracted due to the economy and can’t easily be compared to those previous years. When an organization shows no growth in income and expense, it scores zero in two important categories, bringing the overall score down. Our income in 2010 grew slightly from 2009, but was still well short of Hurricane Katrina levels. To increase our name recognition and expand our programs, UAN took a bold step to re-brand the organization as RedRover, connect all of its programs with its new name and develop aggressive new goals for its programs and income growth in the coming years.

I couldn't pick just one category, because over the years I have been a volunteer, donor and grant recipient. UAN maintains a narrow enough focus to be truly effective, often staying behind doing the "real work" in rescue, disaster and hoarding situations when bigger names have moved on. I received excellent daylong taining to qualify as a UAN disaster response volunteer, have had my consciousness raised about ERT and its impact on horses, and received a grant to help pay the expenses of an injured abandoned dog who needed surgery to save a badly broken leg. Giving on a regular basis is easy with monthly bank draft, and I feel that my small donation is going to relieve suffering and advance a humane ethic in the country. Animal advocacy in any form is a long, hard, sometimes heartbreaking endeavor but I feel confident UAN is on the job making a difference.

This group melds into all areas, and works with any legitimate animal charity or law enforcement agency that requests their help. Without a doubt I can say that UAN is the best non-profit, nearly all volunteer organizagtion which which I have ever worked. I am one of only two EARS volunteers in the state of Delaware, and I believe that I am the only HEAR volunteer from my state. It's a little tough, but I travel over an hour to continue to train with PA EARS, as I aspire to become a first responder. I've had trouble implementing a HEAR program in my state, but will continue to persevere because I believe so strongly in the enormous value of UAN. I am presently using the HEAR recommended books in a pet therapy READ program, and have been astounded at the response of inner city children to humane education. It seems like such a simple concept, combining humane education with reading, but if it were not for the HEAR program of UAN, this wouldn't be happening. I live in an area with a high amount of puppy mills and Michael Vick is a hero to many of the children that I serve. To be able to affect a change in the way these children understand animal and human relationships is astounding and I wouldn't be ablem to do this without UAN. I have not yet been deployed as an EARS volunteer, but have heard the wonderful stories and seen incredible pictures and video. I will continue to train and spread the word about EARS. Each January, I decide which organization to which I should monetarily donate. Not only because I am a volunteer, but also because UAN accomplishes so much with such a small paid staff, it is an easy decision. The dedication of the UAN staff and all the volunteers, as well as the phenomenal number of animals (and people) that it helps, makes UAN the winner of both my money and my time. Thank you.

I first became of aware of UAN/EARS after Hurricane Katrina. They played a vital role in the wellfare of displaced animals by sheltering until permanent arrangements could be made. I attended a training class with UAN/EARS the following year so that I could assist when needed and available. The services that they offer are vital to the safety and well being of our animals. With UAN/EARS being able to step in and shelter large numbers of animals on short notice legal authorities are able to step up and take action against animal cruelty, hoarding and puppy mills in their areas. Without UAN/EARS many of these legal authorities would not act because they do not have the persnonnel or services to care for the animals post seizure. UAN/EARS also protects people and animals after natural disasters by sheltering and keeping the animals off the streets and out of danger.

United Animal Nations is a terrific nonprofit. With a small and very dedicated and efficient staff, and thousands of volunteers, they deploy personnel to create and manage emergency animals shelters during natural disasters or for animals rescued in connection with criminal proceedings. They typically partner with another larger nonprofit, such as Humane Society of the United States, which retains EARS to create and run the emergency shelter. The work is very rewarding, and UAN is great to its volunteers.

UAN first came to my attention after they sheltered over hundred dogs rescued from a puppy mill. I was interested immediately and looked for them online to learn more. Their website showed me all the ways UAN works to help animals and the people who love them. They reach out to youngsters through reading programs such as HEAR (Humane Education Ambassador Readers). UAN offers money for emergency veterinary services through Lifeline grants. I liked that they serve a broad range of animals in need. They work for livestock as well as pets. It was their emergency animal rescue service (EARS) that really piqued my interest, so much so that I took their training to be part of a sheltering team. From what I learned that weekend, it appears that UAN is a highly organized group that performs at a moment's notice to help any animals in need. Be it a storm, earthquake, fire or the neglect of human keepers UAN is ready to step in and comfort the creatures with whom we share our lives. I am happy to support UAN's multiple missions - and - I hope that I never need to use my EARS training in the field.

This group is a wonderful, under appreciated group of volunteers who spend their own money to help care for and shelter animals in not only disasters but also rescues and seizures from law enforcement groups. I am proud to be a member of EARS!

UAN and their program EARS, Emergency Animal Rescue Services is my all time FAVORITE. While I was volunteering at an animal sanctuary a dog "Mickey" came in to our sanctuary after being thrown from the back of a truck and walking around for days, she was hurt very badly. The sanctuary didn't have the funds needed to help Mickey get the surgery that she really needed, it was surgery or euthanize her, there truly was no other option, we asked EARS for a grant and they were incredibly helpful, and more importantly very fast, time really was of the essence for Mickey. Mickey got her surgery and just walks a little differently now, but she is very happy and thankful to UAN and so are we. I tell everyone this story, I've never seen our sanctuary so happy and working so good together, UAN really inspired everyone at the sanctuary to do more for animals and that things are not always as helpless as it may seem. These awesome people at UAN, EARS are VERY compassionate animal people... my favorite kind of people! I am now a volunteer for EARS.

UAN is a fantastic organization that is dedicated to animal welfare and rescue. I volunteered in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and worked shoulder to shoulder with some of the most dedicated animal rescuers I've ever met. After I returned home, I officially went through the volunteer training with UAN and have been a loyal supporter ever since. They are always giving time, money and support to save animals' lives and make life better for animals in general Great organization!

I was only a volunteer a few years, but was unable to deploy due to my job obligations. However, I was always kept up-to-date and enjoyed seeing where everyone needed to go. Absolutely a great organization!

UAN staff and other volunteers are selfless, caring individuals who work quietly and for the most part, out of the limelight to save helpless animals out of cruel and dangerous situations. They work at their own expense, asking nothing more than the opportunity to pave the way to a safer, happier life for animals, one pet at the time.

This completely changed my outlook on rescue and made me feel like I was making a huge difference in many lives at once. I've learned skills that have made me more adaptable, hardy, smart, and determined. I've pulled those skills into running the local rescue I volunteer with. I've expanded my horizons far beyond where I was before I started this endeavor.

I attended their training in 2007 and had several opportunities to deploy. Finally all was alligned to allow me to deploy last week. From the moment you respond you are available, you have someone you may reach out to with questions. They direct you to an area on their website with helpful information about deployments. They have a manual to review. Once you arrive at the designated location, there is someone to direct you. Considering the circumstances, they are very organized. They also make decisions that are best for the animals, which is important. This orgnaization really appears to have the drill down to perfection and works well with other organizations. I was proud to be affiliated with them. I also learned about the other areas they help such as their H.E.A.R.S. PROGRAM, and their Lifeline program. Lifeline not only helps to pay for emergency vet bills, but I learned they help victims of domestic violence that need help with their pets.

It was my first deployment for United Animal Nations. I did not know what to expect. What I found was an extremely well organized, well run temporary animal shelter housing over 300 small breed dogs rescued from a puppy mill in North Carolina. All the volunteers were friendly, informative, helpful, and busy! Not too busy, though, to take a break from whatever they were doing to visit with, walk, cuddle, or play with dogs throughout the work day. The hours were long and it is challenging, but everyone was upbeat and excited about the good work that was going on. United Animal Nations is comprised of people who are passionate about what they do and it is contagious! Great organization! Great cause!

UAN is by far one of the most important animal welfare organizations out there! UAN has trained some of the most hardworking and caring volunteers I have ever had the pleasure working with. They know exactly what to do and how to do it. After just one day in the care of the volunteers, the animals have gone from scared and hopeless to happy and waggy. UAN has their stuff together!

UAN does a fantastic job of preparing their volunteers for deployment and in communicating with their volunteers. After attending a workshop, I knew what to expect upon deployment. When opportunities to deploy come up, the emails are clear and accurate. As the situations change, volunteers are informed. In the field, there's always the potential for things to become overwhelming and emotional. To help avoid this, volunteers receive briefings every morning before work begins and are debriefed at the end of the day. Team leaders are sensitive to the volunteers' physical and emotional needs. After we all go home there's always a post-deployment conference call where check in with each other and discuss how things went, how we are feeling, and how we might do better next time. As an EARS volunteer since December of 2007 (first deployed in February 2008) I have met some amazing people. I believe I'm a better advocate for animals than I was 3 years ago, thanks to my experiences with UAN.

UAN (the redshirts!) is both an animal-welfare and human welfare organization. This was especially evident on a deployment to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to shelter animals displaced by the floods, or temporarily relinquished to UAN because of flooded homes. Stranded pets were rescued, injured pets treated, and homeless pets were housed, fed, groomed. And, pet owners were able to stop in, see their pets, and play with them in UAN-built fenced areas until they were able to get back into their homes. While no one wants to ever be separated from their pets, they were eternally grateful they had a group of UAN volunteers who provided round the clock care for them, and helped get displaced pets back to their loving homes.

Just under one year ago, I began volunteering with United Animal Nations as a Humane Education Ambassador Reader (H.E.A.R.). The experiences I have had reading to school children, and discussing compassion and empathy has been invaluable and tremendously rewarding. Not only has volunteering with United Animal Nations helped me transform from a person wanting to help animals to someone who IS helping animals.

I work at Fuzzy Friends Rescue in Waco, Texas. I joined the UAN last summer when they came our direction for a seminar. I was deployed with the UAN to help with an animal hoarding case. It was a life changing experience for me! The UAN is one of the most awesome animal rescue organizations I have ever worked with! They were very efficient, properly trained, and most importantly, available 24/7 for these neglected animals! I am extremely honored to be a part of such a wonderful organization! I would travel the world over to help the UAN save our animals!

I wanted to be an emergency animal responder, and trained with UAN in 2008. The training taught us how to prepare for our own emergencies and how to prepare to help care for animals needing care in natural or man-made disasters. I have deployed with them several times and they always provide great support with the needed expertise, positive attitude, and sincere appreciation for the volunteers.

United Animal Nations stay true to their mission and their staff and volunteers provide professional, thorough and organized trainings. I am also a member of a local group that often refers people to UAN's Lifeline Grant program that helps provide funds for emergency veterinary care.

UAN is a great organization! They are professional and organized. I have served with UAN at two deployments, both puppy mill seizures. Volunteers are thanked and appreciated and UAN makes us feel as though we are a real part of saving these animals lives. UAN is still a small organization so they are also willing to reward volunteers with increased responsibilities so that they can grow with the organization.

United Animal Nations is truly there in times of animal crisis and a staunch defender in the rights of all animals. As an EARS volunteer since 1996, I have given my time to support the mission of taking animals out of crisis and into care. Having deployed several times to disaster shelters after hurricanes, puppymill and fight dog siezures, I have seen firsthand the benefits of the donations made on behalf of the animals. The educational programs have been used to shape the disaster preparedness plans for people with animals in communities across the country. The disaster service is always free to the requesting community, thanks to donors like you. Please support UAN to continue their mission.
