I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into the RACE fund to help the horses. Such a great cause.
RACE Fund is a great rescue organization; Marlene truly cares about the best placement of the horses and will do everything to ensure they are taken care of and loved. The organization is well run with frequent checks on adopted horses.
RACEFund is doing extraordinary work helping thoroughbreds retire and transition into wonderful lives off the track, and also saving thoroughbreds that wind up in terrible predictaments like the Slaughter pipeline. Marlene is very proactive and a good facilitator; she often takes the lead and organizes the effort to help a horse. I've learned from her each time we've worked together. She and I (as well as others) have worked to help a few US-bred horses return from racing in Puerto Rico, and a few horses in desperate situation here in States (with a killbuyer). RACEFund is a shining example of what a thoroughbred Aftercare program ought to be!
I have worked with this organization for several years. They are truly a wonderful group that had helped save so many horses from slaughter. Trustworthy and honest and above board in all of their interactions. I am very pleased to continue my support for this group.
I have found the RACE Fund to be an excellent rescue to work with. I like their honest approach, total transparency and above all their dedication to helping thoroughbreds in need. If you're looking for the cream of the crop in Thorouhbred rescue look no further. RACE Fund sits heads and shoulders above the others.
The RACE Fund moves mountains. They truly make their charitable decisions based upon the horse's needs. What's best for the horse. And not just because of some monetary value, stature in breeding, track winnings, or a horse's potential in their life beyond the track.
This is a story that went from the United States to Puerto Rico and back to the United States. A story that describes international efforts which took several months to accomplish. This is a story about how the RACE Fund brought together a Community of Caring People to help Retire a Thoroughbred from racing with dignity and respect.
The RACE Fund helped my quest to bring a young Thoroughbred back to the United States after countless attempts to find help from others failed. I was told by many other rescues and Thoroughbred advocates, who did not see any value in this young thoroughbred, that it was too much time, effort & money to help this one horse retire safely and live out his life with the dignity he deserved. The RACE Fund shared my belief that "It Did Matter to This One Young Thoroughbred".
Because the RACE Fund was willing to network and put in tireless hours, this One Young Thoroughbred has now found a permanent home with a mother, sister and daughter. In their eyes his value didn't come from any winnings on the track or having potential for a second career as a sport horse. His value came solely from his heart to theirs.
The entire story can be read on his FB page -

RACE Fund is an amazing organization. I have worked with them in helping numerous TBs over the years. I cannot say enough about their high character, integrity and their ongoing dedication to their cause!
These wonderful angles found my friend's beautiful boy at a kill pen, he was in such bad shape I would have never known him. These angels got him back to his old self:)
I believe the RACE Fund is truly a blessing. Made up of people that truly care about saving horses to live out the rest of their lives in peace and comfort. True animal lovers.
I have found that R.A.C.E. Fund is the real thing when it comes to truly working on rescuing horses at risk. They dont stop til the job is done with every single case they take on. They are honest, diligent and have a solid reputation within both sides of the industry - the rescue organizations and the racing sie. They set a fine example of how to handle delicate situations. They have aleays followed thru on their commitments. An exemplary non-profit for sure.
This organization supports the thoroughbred - providing care to those who can no longer race or breed - those that are in need of a new home or a new career. This organization stepped in to assist a mare who had fallen from radar - was removed from a good life - she was the Daughter of Alydar. Her story is heartbreaking - but this organization stepped up along with others to save her and gave her a loving and well deserved life = I support them - they are top notch and they provide valuable care.
I have contributed directly to this organization without any qualms about how the money is being spent. I know they can save as many horses as possible through good financial management. They are very thorough in all their fundraising events. They have excellent legal support as well. They work tirelessly to educate the public against slaughter of horses and work constantly to take horses from the racetrack to retrain them for another carear.
I adopted A Sharp, aka Storm, in November of 2014. Marlene also has another retired tb at the same farm I boarded from, a wonderful boy named chocolate knight. Race fund is very methodical in chosen the right home for a retired race horse. They are genuinely concerned for the horse, and continue to be involved in their lives. I speak with them regularly, and am blessed that my horse was rescued and cared for by this wonderful group of people.
The most proffessional, expericed and compassionate organization dedicated to the resuce, rehabiliation and securing a permanent home for America's treasured Off the Track Throroughbred horses. It is my pleasure to donate to this cause. I was personally touched as well as our community by one such horse who was known to us in 2013. "Quiet Dare". It was an honor to photograph him upon his arrival home to his owner, Sara. Thank you RACE Fund for all the love and efforts to secure his safety along with all the other horses I have witnessed since that time. What an awesome group of women doing God's work. God Bless you for your continued dedication.
Finding another life for a racehorse that can not race is what we ALL need to do. R.A.C.E. is doing just that. They have been WONDERFUL in their efforts!
RACE Fund literally is a lifesaver for OTTBs. Our small group of friends rescued a son of Honor And Glory named Noggin Dude. He needed a safe harbor with people who care after his difficult experience. Marlene and Craig were amazing and Dude has blossomed under their good care. I would aalways tr
ust them implicitly.
excellent job. Very hard working. OTTB rescue group should be run like this!
Always impressed with the work RACE Fund is doing! Great at communication and appreciative of any gift (no matter how small.) They are professional and I'm am amazed at how they are able to do so much with their limited funding sources. Keep up the good work! I am comfortable in the knowledge that Marlene and her volunteers are working so very hard to better the lives of the animals they touch.
This organization helps fill and extremely important function, helping to find homes for retired TB race horses, ones that the industry does not help (shame on the race industry). They do it right, and the needs of the horse always come first. I hope to be in a position soon to accept one or more of these magnificent beings.
I met a gorgeous OTTB at a local rescue. I was considering adopting him and found out the next day he suffered a leg fracture that could heal with stall rest or may need surgery. He needed more than two mo this to rehab and that rescue just could not give him what he needed. The RACE fund took him back and gave him the care he needed. A noble race horse who deserve a retirement and excellent care! They truly care for these Horses and it is a wonderful organization!!!!! There should be more that are honest like this one and jot out to make a profit !!!! It's all for the horses!
Race fund is a fantastic organization. They have saved many lives including one very dear to my heart.
Race fund is an invaluable organization that assisted me with a very special forgotten Thoroughbred. Promethia is a daughter of Alydar and just turned 30. I beleive she is the oldest thoroughbred they have ever worked with. They brought awareness to her plight and she now is happy, has a job of "baby-sitter" to some orphan foals and is enjoying life. They are saving lives one at a time. Promethia'stime time may not be long, but it will be the best she has had in years. Thank you for my special girl!
