I am so grateful that the RACE Fund has helped with so many Thoroughbred rescues. Winning that last race into a safe and forever home is the most important part of OTTB After care. The RACE Fund goes above and beyond to keep retiring thoroughbreds on a safe path and out of the slaughter pipeline.
We quarantined a TB this rescue helped facilitate in getting out of a kill pen. They were nothing short of professional to deal with, with the best interest of the horse in mind. They kept in contact with us as we did them with updates on the horses condition etc while in quarantine. They ensured that we had the horses feet done as his feet were overgrown over his shoes and paid promptly for the farrier service. We also had the opportunity to transport the rescue horse to his new owner out of state, of which they helped to facilitate that as well. Great Rescue to support. They genuinely work hard to ensure the horses have great care.
I've worked with RACE fund personally. They do a very thorough vetting and progress check on every horse they home. They keep the horses best interest first. Top notch organization!
I'm a layover farm for Racefund.. Marlene Murray is absolutely amazing.. I ended up adopting the first racefund rescue from Puerto Rico, Marlene assisted in rescuing Mynahs Boy, he's blind in one eye, a double bow on the left and a bow in the right, he payed over at my farm in Ocala Fl for 30 days before heading to Pa via NY,once there it was determined I couldn't live with out him, Racefund and Marlene then assisted again at helping to get him back down to me and his forever home . .. that is a very long story made short ...
Race fund helped bring a one eyed, double bow in the right front, single bow in the left front home from Puerto Rico.. His prognosis of a life after racing was slim to none in PR.. Heck it's slim to none here in the states.. Mynahs Boy "Rico" was just to be a layover at my farm in central Florida on his way to a rescue in Pa.. We were hesitant to load him that day but we did.. Once he arrived in Pa, we kept track of him, not quite happy with his quality of life, Race fund was contacted and they helped bring Rico to his final home in Florida.. Thanks to Marlene Murray, Race fund, and several other folks..that is a very long story made short
Jersey Joe C was retired from racing by a trainer who thought he was doing the right thing. Two years later this poor horse ended up in a kill auction. The previous trainer was contacted and immediately said that he hadn't seen a horse in two years but he wanted that horse saved. He couldn't afford the bail at that time but was willing to repay it if someone could just come up with the money to save this horse. RaceFund stepped in without hesitation and this horse is now safely back with his breeder. Those of us who try to save the warhorses of racing are forever indebted!
3 years ago RACE FUND INC. Rescued a 3 year old OTTB from a "Kill Buyer". We are thrilled to have him part of our family. He is a sweetheart of a horse, always at the gate when I come out to see him. Thank you RACE FUND, for saving our Rhett!
Fantastic non profit. Marlene genuinely cares for each and every horse she saves. This is a life long passion for her.
I really appreciate all the hard work that goes into the RACE fund to help the horses. Such a great cause.
RACEFund is doing extraordinary work helping thoroughbreds retire and transition into wonderful lives off the track, and also saving thoroughbreds that wind up in terrible predictaments like the Slaughter pipeline. Marlene is very proactive and a good facilitator; she often takes the lead and organizes the effort to help a horse. I've learned from her each time we've worked together. She and I (as well as others) have worked to help a few US-bred horses return from racing in Puerto Rico, and a few horses in desperate situation here in States (with a killbuyer). RACEFund is a shining example of what a thoroughbred Aftercare program ought to be!
I have worked with this organization for several years. They are truly a wonderful group that had helped save so many horses from slaughter. Trustworthy and honest and above board in all of their interactions. I am very pleased to continue my support for this group.
I have found the RACE Fund to be an excellent rescue to work with. I like their honest approach, total transparency and above all their dedication to helping thoroughbreds in need. If you're looking for the cream of the crop in Thorouhbred rescue look no further. RACE Fund sits heads and shoulders above the others.
RACE Fund is an amazing organization. I have worked with them in helping numerous TBs over the years. I cannot say enough about their high character, integrity and their ongoing dedication to their cause!
These wonderful angles found my friend's beautiful boy at a kill pen, he was in such bad shape I would have never known him. These angels got him back to his old self:)
I believe the RACE Fund is truly a blessing. Made up of people that truly care about saving horses to live out the rest of their lives in peace and comfort. True animal lovers.
I have found that R.A.C.E. Fund is the real thing when it comes to truly working on rescuing horses at risk. They dont stop til the job is done with every single case they take on. They are honest, diligent and have a solid reputation within both sides of the industry - the rescue organizations and the racing sie. They set a fine example of how to handle delicate situations. They have aleays followed thru on their commitments. An exemplary non-profit for sure.
This organization supports the thoroughbred - providing care to those who can no longer race or breed - those that are in need of a new home or a new career. This organization stepped in to assist a mare who had fallen from radar - was removed from a good life - she was the Daughter of Alydar. Her story is heartbreaking - but this organization stepped up along with others to save her and gave her a loving and well deserved life = I support them - they are top notch and they provide valuable care.
I have contributed directly to this organization without any qualms about how the money is being spent. I know they can save as many horses as possible through good financial management. They are very thorough in all their fundraising events. They have excellent legal support as well. They work tirelessly to educate the public against slaughter of horses and work constantly to take horses from the racetrack to retrain them for another carear.
I adopted A Sharp, aka Storm, in November of 2014. Marlene also has another retired tb at the same farm I boarded from, a wonderful boy named chocolate knight. Race fund is very methodical in chosen the right home for a retired race horse. They are genuinely concerned for the horse, and continue to be involved in their lives. I speak with them regularly, and am blessed that my horse was rescued and cared for by this wonderful group of people.
