I give this organization a 5 Star Rating. They are an amazing organization and have been fully supportive of all of our needs as deployed Soldiers. We really appreciate this organization and would recommend them to anyone. Thanks again to Kristen Holloway and Operation Troop Appreciation
Operation Troop Appreciation (OTA) was an awesome Moral booster during my first deployment. I would personally want to thank every last sponsor in this program on behalf of my entire Battalion. We will never ever be able to truly repay you for your kind gesture and words cannot even describe how you have changed our lives. Thank you for being such a wonderful organization and for reaching out to us all the way on the other side of the world.
OTA through Kriten Holloway supported my husbands troop in Afghanistan for the last six months. January-August 2015.
This organization was eafer to help and wven asked for special requests. They sent everything on the list and more. Many soldiers have needs like allergy free foods and as expensive as they are they sent it all!
Thank ya'll so much for the support it was truly appreciated!
Assisted to create warm 'homes' for returning troops.
I recently heard of OTA from another unit. I am assisting in putting together 40 welcome home baskets for the single soldiers returning home from deployment.
I contacted OTA and received a response within 24 hours and the items were purchased for us within 48 hours. They provided granted my wish list for these men and more! It was such a blessing to receive the sheets (and the blankets on the way). Thank you. OTA! You guys are amazing!
When I started volunteering for OTA several years ago, I never thought it would become as big of a part of my life as it has. I have been fortunate to work with wonderful people for one of the best causes I can think of. I love packing the boxes for the deployed soldiers and trying to find the perfect items to make their days better. now with the Welcome Home Program for Veterans, I get to do the same thing on a more individual level. It has been my pleasure to help the men and women who keep us safe for the past several years and I can't wait to see what awesome things OTA does for them in the next several!
I'm a sailor in the United States Navy. My command and I were out on a 9 month deployment in the Middle East. I found this nonprofit online and emailed them hoping to hear any kind of response. Not only did they email me back right away but they fulfilled my request and then some. My shop requested an XBOX. They sent out the XBOX with games and controllers and filled the package with tons of snacks and candy bars, as well as, Letters from classrooms back in the states. The entire experience was pretty amazing. I'm very grateful for what Operations Troop Appreciation does. Thank you guys so much!
Volunteering for OTA is like having an amazing, wonderful extended family. When you volunteer with OTA you not only get a chance to give back to the men and women sacrificing for our freedom (when you help pack their wish list items), but you also have the opportunity to support Veterans through OTA's welcome home program. Every volunteer is compassionate, caring and many have become close friends. OTA is an amazing organization.
It is a pleasure to serve OTA, and to know that our help is making a huge impact on our troops and returning veterans. The emails, hone calls and letters from those who benefit from OTA are the most rewarding feedback we could received.
As a volunteer for Operation Troop Appreciation I am honored to be able to put my skills and efforts to use for this organization. Their ongoing efforts to support both deployed and veteran military members for their service is not only commendable, it is truly amazing. I have seen this first hand and cannot be more pleased that I chose OTA when I decided to become a volunteer. OTA is totally 100% volunteer with no paid employees including the officers, Board of Directors and CEO! All work together in support of those who serve or have served.
Operation Troop Appreciation is an organization that works tirelessly to go above and beyond to fullfill the needs and wish lists of troops on the front lines. Packages that are sent are not only custom tailored with the items that each unit specifically requests but also includes cards, letters and "surprise" items to raise the morale of our deployed troops. They do their best to make sure our gals and guys know those of us back home truly care and have not forgotton about their sacrifices to ensure that our country is safe. I couldn't be more proud to be a small cog in the wheel that helps to keep the boxes flowing to those that need it. Those involved with OTA truly care and are dedicated to our troops and ensure that they know it!!
Operation Troop Appreciation made a tremendous impact on the morale of our unit! They were responsive to our request and followed up to make sure everything was delivered in a timely manner. Our unit greatly appreciates this organization and looks forward to supporting it in the future. Thank you!
Operation Troop Appreciation went above and beyond in their support of our Troop in Afghanistan. They responded quickly to each email and wanted to ensure that we had all the support we required. Within two weeks our wish list was delivered and it was an incredible morale booster for the Soldiers. Thank you OTA!!!!!
Responded quickly to all correspondence and was able to donate the items we requested. The stuff we received was amazing and boosted the morale of our deployed service members exponentially. OTA is a great organization and is very appreciated by our troops out here!!
I can't thank Operation Troop Appreciation(OTA) for all the support and love they sent our way. One of the best organizations to sponsor our unit. The goodies and snacks were the best. Thank you so much for all the support!!!
455th EAMXS C-130J Maintance unit, Bagram Afghanistan
OTA is a wonderfully thoughtful organization! We worked at the Role III MMU (Trauma Hospital) in Kandahar – caring for the wounded, ill, and injure. The OTA care packages were a treat for the caregivers – many who work in 24/7 operational settings. Not every Soldier, Sailor or Marine may receive a care package from friends or family back home – OTA ensures every service member is cared for. THANK YOU!
This organization is amazing at what they do. They are relentless at meeting requests. When most people, including myself, would have given up, Kristen Holloway kept pushing to get me and my guys our TV and Xbox 360. There was a situation of not being able to send things to our APO address, and Kristen worked hard and never stopped trying to get us everything we requested. Now we have been supplied with a entertainment system all thanks to Operation Troop Appreciation!
OTA was the single, most wonderful care package my Soldiers and I received. OTA allows you to give a "wishlist" of items you actually need, while other organizations stuff boxes with random odds and ends. Kristin was very polite, and caring in her emails to schedule shipment, and clarify if our wishlist had changed since submission. She also checked if everything arrived fine.
OTA is an outstanding organization, and I couldn't have asked for more support... actually, I didn't even have to ask OTA.

Every year for his birthday, my oldest son and I chose an organization to collect for in leiu of presents. This passed year we did Operation Troop Appreciation and it was the most precious experience for our whole family. We look forward to donating to them again this year!!
Kristin for OTA has been amazing! I really do not know how to thank her enough for everything that she has done for my troops and I. Her professionalism and compassion for the troops is uncanny. Seeing that there are still people and organizations out there doing their best for us troops is amazing.
In 2010 my unit was deployed to Afghanistan in a remote location, and I inquired about a nonprofit organization to help out my Soldiers. OTA came through and my Soldiers were very grateful for the many items that were sent. Today, I still have former Soldiers emailing me about that experience from OTA and their kind gesture. Now, again in 2014, I'm deployed with a new unit to Afghanistan, and OTA came through once again without hesitation. I spoke to my current Soldiers how OTA sent packages to my last unit deployed. They were surprised that there is a nonprofit organization that would go above and beyond to take care of Soldiers. They had a first hand experience to see some of the items and packages that OTA kindly put together to ensure safe delivery. On behalf of my current and former unit, thanks OTA for all that you do to continue supporting our great servicemen and women.
The Marines and Sailors I am serving with in Afghanistan are very grateful for the packages thta OTA has sent us. The organization obviously takes great care in choosing what they send us. The gifts are always very useful and appreciated. Thanks OTA!
A number of us are deployed overseas for a year. A friend who had also used this great Non-profit organization told me to look them up. I sent them an email with items we were in need of but found difficult to get. They replied and full-filled my request very quickly. A few weeks later we received many of the items we requested and in quantities to share with everyone. I was very pleased with the service and will suggest them to all deployed soldiers in need of anything. Thank you to Kristen Holloway and everyone who gave. May God Bless you all for taking the time to let us know you care.
My unit is deployed overseas for nine month tour. A fellow soldier told me about this great Non-profit organization named OTA. I looked them up online and immediately sent them an email. Within days they replied and full-filled my request and a timely manner. A few weeks later we received all the things we requested and enough to sure with everyone. I was really pleased with the service and will suggest them to all deployed soldiers in need of anything.
This organization brought a comforting piece of home to a unit thousands of miles away from their family and loved ones. 5 stars
Hi sir/ma'am, My name is SSG Foster, David I am a squad leader who is currently deployed to Bagram Airfield in RC-E Afghanistan. This is my third time being over here in Afghanistan in five years. My first was to the same place as now but I did 15 months, my second was to FOB Edinburgh RC-South for 12 months, my third was to here now for 9-12 months. I am a 12B Combat engineer who clears the roads of IEDs, UXOs, and anything thst may harm my fellow soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, Coalition forces, and local Afghans. I have never previously interacted with OTA but I was most certainly missing out! OTA provided my CARCO Platoon with 50 Under Armour TShirts that we made platoon shirts out of cutting the cost to nearly nothing, a projector so we can teach demolition, patrolling, urban breaching and basic engineering skills to Soldiers when they're not on missions. OTA has been an an outstanding example of how "We Support The Troops" is said worldwide. I simply cannot thank you all enough and I am truely blessed that I was able to be helped by such an amazingly generous organization!
My unit is deployed overseas, I sent an email to OTA and we recieved excersice equipment as well as supplements and a computer for our guys to watch movies and video chat with their families. These items provided a huge moral boost for our guys deployed here.
As the NCOIC for the Female Mentorship program here in South Western Asia, we requested female sized T-Shirts to raise morale for the female troops within our entire Battalion. We have accomplised this by bringing them together to perform various team building activities, such as a scavenger hunt, Warrior Challenge, and various other group activities in which they are required to work together, while wearing theme specific shirts. Mrs. Holloway and the Operation troop appreciation team were very helpful and attentive to our needs and concerns. I sent the plan shirts, which came in various colors and had a logo imprinted. The ladies were very appreciated for Mrs. Holloway's assistance and really enjoy wearing the shirts, doing group events, as well as on their free time. We can not stop boasting about your organization; truly Soldier/Troop Supportive. Thank You All!!!!
This is my Fourth deployment and before I stepped a foot on Afghanistan soil, I vowed to reach out to Organizations and Companies to assist the Service Members which I worked by everyday. Being deployed can be hard on new deployers, newlyweds and new parents. I reached out to several organizations but the one that stood out the most was Operation Troop Appreciation (OTA). Upon receiving my request for my Squadron of 500 personnel, they quickly responded to me. With all that OTA sent, Service Members alctually took the time to enjoy the items when they had down time. OTA sent a little of "home" to where we where and for this, we are truly grateful! By yall showing care and concern, it is making our deployment a little more enjoyable. Organizations like this is where I will devote my time to in order to support all or our Men and Women in harms way. So from all of the Service members on this FOB; THANK YOU!!
Our unit is located in southern part of the Afghanistan proving retro-grade mission. We all do remember the day OTA care packages delivered to our compound. Usually our mails get picked up by individual but that day the mail truck pulled in to our door step and down loaded huge boxes. First we thought it was something we ordered thru the contracting for the mission, but instead it was all from the Operation Troop Appreciation. That day was our happiest day during deployment. It was more than enough for every Soldier in our unit. We even shared it with other units occupied in our compound. Every Soldier in our compound thank you for what you’ve sent to us. Especially with the Under Armor shirts are greatly appreciated. Soldier in this type environment is all about morale and OTA definitely boosted our unit’s morale to the highest level possible. Once again thank you very much and please let us know what we can do to help after our deployment. We will definitely be a part of your sponsor when this deployment ends.
Thank you OTA!
I am part of a medevac unit here and we requested care packages including game systems to help our medics and crewmemebers relax while they were off shift. Operation troop Appreciation sent BIG BOXES of snacks, hygiene items and of course game systems. They were the best care packages I've seen. All of the soldiers in our company are greatful and appreciate the support that we get out here especially from Operation Troop Appreciation. They even offered us Under Armour shirts and they arrived quickly. Thank you again Operation Troop Appreciation!
I am part of the CMRE team in Kandahar Afghanistan. This is one of the best care package organization I've come across during my deployment. Once I signed up they swiftly gathered my wish list and in no time I was opening up the boxes sharing it up with my unit. They sent enough items for every one in my unit to enjoy. Each and every item on my wish list was fulfilled. I hope this organization continues to support troops during deployments.
I am with a medical task force currently deployed and Operation Troop Appreciation sent us more than enough things to our unit. When we received the care package, my unit and myself were blown away by how above and beyond OTA went to provide things that were just a boost in moral. I never knew there were organizations that cared so much for the sacrifice that service members make, and sometimes we forget about the sacrifices the American people make for us. OTA, and Ms. Holloway and her staff were so great about sending little things that mades us remember who we are here for. Thank you so much OTA for all you do.
This is an incredible organization that gave generously to single soldiers that were redeploying. Our company originally submitted a list of needed items expecting this organization to help as they could. They far exceeded our expectations! I cannot say enough good things about this organization!
I am the Detachment Commander for an EOD Platoon currently deployed. Operation Troop Appreciation sent us the necessary tools for my Soldiers to complete our mission. The organization responded promptly and did not hesitate to assist us.
We appreciate all of this organization's help and support!
I first heard of OTA when I was in Baghdad in 2004. I was in the very first unit that they served. I received some UnderArmor from them out of the blue. I was amazed at how the UA worked in the desert heat and even more amazed that someone would buy hundreds of these shirts to just give away. Since I've been back, I've had the opportunity to help as a volunteer even though they are a two-hour drive away. From unlimited kindness and generosity, to fully volunteer staffs, OTA is the best charity I have come in contact with. I gave 5 stars because there is no option for six.
This organization is truly an amazing organization . OTA is a true non-profit who really cares about the service members it helps. Most of the organization is made up of volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure our service members do not feel forgotten.
Was with the first unit served by the OTA, AND TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THEY ARE AWESOME!!! I read a previous post saying we are payed and shouldn't get something as minor as socks, all I can say to that is "THERE ISNT A WALMART IN IRAQ"!!!
Thanks for everything you guys do and keep up the good work!!!
Socks for troops? Really? Seems like a relatively minor issue to be funding with nonprofit funds. Nice socks are great, but these people are actually paid.
Monica O. 05/28/2014
To J-Peterson - I am not sure what interaction you had with Operation Troop Appreciation this year, and take full responsibility if your experience lead you to the wrong conclusion about what we do as a non-profit. Since July, 2004, we have provided over 136,000 deployed military members with "wish-list" items. These are items SPECIFICALLY REQUESTED by our troops because there is no military exchange store, or they are on a remote combat outpost, in the harshest of conditions and have no other way to obtain these items. Sometimes we get requests for socks and when we do, you bet we send the best quality socks we can get. We also provide veterans in poverty with beds and essential household goods or troops with extra protective eye wear. We send solar showers to troops on combat ouposts with no bathing facilities. And much, much, much, much more. And we do it with a 100% VOLUNTEER staff - no one gets paid at OTA - ever. So 98 cents of every donated dollar goes directly to fund troop and veteran support projects. I am saddened that you chose to give us our only negative rating, and hope that with a better understanding of who we are and what we do, you'll feel compelled to change your mind. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have questions or want more information. Monica Orluk, Volunteer President & COO of Operation Troop Appreciation.
Operation Troop Appreciation is by far one of the best orginazations out there. My hat off to you and all that you do along with the teams and volunteers.
Thank you, God bless
Great Organization!! Their dedication to helping deployed Soldiers is beyond compare. They came through time and time again in helping my Soldiers and I during our deployment to Afghanistan. Everything we needed they were more than willing to facilitate, and so much more. I would recommend this Organization to every deployed Soldier, and I have recommended it too many of my friends and fellow Soldiers. Thank You Operation Troop Appreciation for everything you do to help our deployed service members.
OTA provided my unit with high quality socks during our recent deployment, and blew us away with their generosity. Socks are vital to any soldier's ruck sack, we are hard on our feet and if they give out the mission is at risk. The kind of high quality socks provided by OTA are preferred by my soldiers for their endurance, comfort, and breathability. Simply put, OTA was a great combat multiplier and a great reason for our success. Thanks for all that you do to support our troops.
OTA has made an invaluable impact on the morale and support of the soldiers in my unit. From the moment I made contact with OTA they have expressed a desire to support our needs in any way possible and came through in spades! Serving on the front lines in a difficult war takes it's toll on not only the people but also on our equipment. OTA supported us with reminders from home, MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) materials, and a huge shipment of high quality equipment that wears out quickly out here (socks, t-shirts, etc...). In short, OTA has helped me tremendously to keep my men motivated and engaged in this fight. I can never express fully my gratitude!
Thank you very much for your generous contribution! I had no idea you were sending so much. We even kept one box for one of our tenant units that is geographically separated from us so they were very grateful as well. On behalf of our entire chapel staff, thank you for what you do!
The items they sent saved us on our current deployment. Just the fact that Operation Troop Appreciation was ther raised the moral of our Soldiers. They were so fast in getting us the items we requested that our Soldiers didn't have a moment of discomfort since we arrived in theater. Thank you so much Operation Troop Appreciation! You made this deployment bearable!
I am currently deployed to Afghanistan. My entire unit was so grateful for all the support that we received from Operation Troop Appreciation. They were able to send our unit so many items that we both wanted and needed in order to make our deployment more successful and to give our unit some extra morale. OTA is a great organization that really cares for Soldiers across the world.
My platoon is currently deployed in Kuwait. We were very appreciative of the support we received. the was many of our first deployments and we really did not know what to expect. We jotted down things we really could use on our wish list and we received all that and more. The most frequently asked question was who are these people? The hand written notes were awesome we all replied back to at least one person. Myself being the only female I was spoiled with things just for me. We greatly appreciate operation trop appreciation!
CURRENTLY DEPLOYED TO KUWAIT, CARE PACKAGE SERVED SEVERAL SOLDIERS. VERY HELPFUL AND APPRECIATED
I am currently deployed to Bagram in support of OEF XV. Operation Troop Appreciation helped me and my team out greatly with equipment that was much needed to sustain our fight. When all else failed they backed us up with support, equipment and most of all their appreciation for all that we do over here. Thanks once again for this outstanding organization and all they do to help support from home.
I am at FOB GAMBERI, Afghanistan a small FOB, not much to do here and hard to get anything. Operation Troop Appreciation really helped my platoon. Batteries, hygeine items, the works has saved us from waiting to get items or lack of. Thank you for all you do. God bless all of you. I hope all of you are blessed and loved by families, friends. Out platoon will always be thankful and never forget what you did for us.
I am deployed at Kandahar Airfield as part of a US Army division staff element. My job involves long hours sitting in an office, sometimes when it is cold outside. Operation Troop Appreciation was kind enough to send us several boxes of K-Cup coffee which really raised the morale within our section. It was greatly appreciated!
Operation Troop Appreciation was a great resource in finding comfort and warm-heartedness to me and my soldiers during deployment. Thank you to the organization and all of it's volunteers for showing support through your packages and kind words!
My group and I are out in Afghanistan. Because of the current budget situation we arrived, not fully equiped, in extremely adverse weather. OTA not only boosted moral by providing things that remind people of home, but have reminded us that the American People haven't forgotten about us. They've also provided some gear to supplement the summer gear we were issued, during winter.
OTA increased the troop's spirits by the gesture of caring and providing great health food items and treats that are hard to get when deployed!
Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors of Operation Troop Appreciation you guys are awesome! Being in a deployed environment makes you appreciate everything and you would not believe the impact your boxes had on the platoon. Your packages were recieved during the Christmas holidays and to see the smile on the soldiers faces as they came in a realized that someone cares enough to send us all of this! Everyone got something and it made them feel good during a time when a lot of soldiers were feeling down because they were away from their loved ones for the holidays. The day we received those boxes there was a lot laughter and joy because they did not believe some people did this out of the kindness of there heart. I for one was impressed with the response to my request it was faster than expected and although we only communicated through email I could tell that there was a genuine appreciation for the troops from Kristen Holloway and I want to thank her personally for making sure everything she told me was coming in the mail made it here. We will be forever grateful for your organization generosity and we the troops in staff platoon salute ALL of the men and women who sponsored and volunteered to help make this possible.
Thank you Operation Troop Appreciation & all that helped our unit through yet another deployment. Not only were you rapid to respond via email they were helpful, curtious, knowledgeable, and caring. I felt as if i knew the person I was speaking to as they were concerned in our well being & leisure. Our morale could not be any higher although we are away from home we know that we can count on you to assist the troops. We have started a little boxing club due to your support and equipment sent, it would not have been possible otherwise. I requested a wish list of items and they provided more than I would have ever expected, #1 non-profit organization out there hands down. I would recommend this organizatioin to all my fellow troops preparing to deploy or already deployed as they will take care of you as if you are family. Thanks again from the Soldiers of A co. 204th BSB 2/4ID.
Operation Troop Appreciation had been an amazing organization! The men and women of the OTA have kept the men in my unit warm and happy through our last deployment with their heart melting generosity. I hope many more soldiers are able to experience the support we received from what began as strangers. Thank you so very much OTA!
I signed up for Operation Troop Appreciation upon arrival in theatre, within a couple days a response was sent requesting additional information. After replying with that information our care packages were sent out. We got them just before Christmas day and they were full of all the essentials. My troops were extremely appreciative of it and all of the items were gone from my office before the shift was over. I want to say thanks to all of the volunteers that made this happen for myself and my comrades over here. Knowing that we were thought about during the holiday season definitely made us feel good. Thanks again and keep it up it really does make a HUGE moral difference for us.
Operation Troop Appreciation has supported me through 3 deployments faithfully. As a battalion chaplain I depend heavily on support and donations from people back home to provide the Soldiers with basic necessities and a few luxuries which make our deployments a bit more comfortable. OTA was always there, and Kristen Holloway has become a reliable friend.
NMCB 28 appreciates the support of the Operation Troop Appreciation team. Oo-Rah! Thank you for all you do. Our troops really enjoyed the packaged items sent. You have brought smiles to a place where they were thought tobe extinct. You all are awesome. Keep up the good work.
All the Best,
Troop Members of NMCB 28
Operation Troop Appreciation made my platoon's days when we received the packages. The morale was lifted drastically as my fellow soldiers dug through the boxes pulling out the items. The females especially loved all of the hair care products! I had other squad leaders and platoon sergeants approaching me asking where I received these packages. Once I told them they were quick to act upon requesting packages for their platoons. I would highly recommend Operation Troop Appreciation! The communication back and forth with Ms. Holloway was very professional and showed the dedication this organization has to spoiling soldiers overseas. From the HQ Platoon of FSC, 489TH EN BN we want to thank all of you for what you are doing for us!
Operation Troop Appreciation helped my platoon receive various gym equipment that was greatly needed. It really increased our morale here in Afghanistan. Working out is part of our lives and being on MEDEVAC duty everyday does not allow us to go to the gym on site. Now that we have enough equipment to get in daily workouts in our hangar we are able to achieve all of our goals and pass the time on the deployment. Thank you OTA for all your help and support!!!
OPERATION TROOP APPRECIATION is unmatched in their efforts of supporting Military members. I contacted them regarding help with providing items for 2 of my units out here in Afghanistan, and without hesitation, they cam thru for more than 150+ soldiers/airman deployed in the Kabul area. Kristen Holloway is hands down, one of the most motivated and true to her word individuals that i have ever dealt with from any one of these organization. She was always willing to help and even made extra effort to ensure we had just what we wanted/needed as opposed to just sending random items that people may or may not need. She always made sure she sent us items that we could use and that would benefit us in our efforts. This organizations efforts have made an 8+ month tour to Afghanistan less stressful and more enjoyable.
thank you all for what you do, with out your suppurt, we wouldn't be able to push thru everyday as we do!!!
SSGT Donald J. Darling III, USAF
Ms. Holloway is amazing!!! She sent us emails to notify us that packages were on the way. The packages were filled with beautiful notes from school age children and even had pictures in them. Ms. Holloway went out of her way to gather the address to the school so we could write back and send picutres. If we ever needed ANYTHING we know we can count on OTA! Its amazing to see the love and appreciation from an organization staffed by volunteers! Thanks guys for all you do for us!!
Operation Troop Appreciation has adopted our battalion who is currently deployed to Afghanistan. This organization has been in constant contact with me for the past two months now since we landed in theater and has sent everything that we have asked for up to this point. The feedback that I am receiving from the infantrymen who receive these boxes are that they are the best they have received from any of the multiple deployments our Soldiers have been on. On behalf of the Soldiers of the 2nd Battalion 5th Infantry Regiment, I would like to extend our appreciation for this organizations support. This is truly one of the best that I have worked with as a sponsor to over hundreds of Soldiers. I am truly indebted to this organization as well as all the donors for their kindness. Thanks to all of their help, I can assure you that all Soldiers here feel a little closer to home. I would like to thank any donor in advance that chooses to support Operation Troop Appreciation, your actions will be utilized to the very best by the staff who work for this organization.
