Since a very young age, I have loved to sing. I have had many wonderful private instructors throughout my years of lessons. When looking back at the lessons I’ve learned, I realize that the value isn’t just the actual vocal, piano or guitar lessons I’ve learned. It’s the life lessons. Through my years of studying music privately, I have learned goal-setting, perseverance, self-discipline, problem solving, math and reading skills and much more. These lessons are invaluable. Through the MusicLink Foundation, thousands of children have been able to take private lessons. They are creating more than musicians one student at a time. They are creating well-rounded and successful young adults. As a Minnesota MusicLink Ambassador, I am honored to be part of an organization that makes a difference in children’s lives every day. Thank you MusicLink Foundation for letting me be a part of your organization and for being dedicated to enriching the lives of your students.
I have been a MusicLink teacher for 17 years. In April 2015, I was honored as a MusicLink Teacher of Distinction.
I have always believed in what this program stood for, and I am proud to be a part of it. I have been able to help out coordinating MusicLink for the State of Massachusetts, and saw how great the need is. This year I have four MusicLink students, one of whom has been with me and a part of MusicLink for seven years. Over those years, MusicLink has supported his musical growth, as he needed a keyboard, and generous publishers have supplied all of his music. He continues to enjoy his lessons. I am proud to be a MusicLink teacher, and I am grateful for the program.”
I have been a MusicLink teacher and coordinator for decades. Long term individual music lessons for children who would otherwise have no access is one of the most important contributions a musician can do to make a difference in the lives of children. It is particularly significant in this age of drastic income inequality.
I have been a MusicLink teacher for nearly two decades and continue to be impressed and moved by the difference MusicLink makes in the lives of low income students and their families.
This year the MusicLink Foundation celebrates it's 25th anniversary, a major milestone for any organization. For MusicLink, which boast only a handful of staff, its longevity is a tribute to its extraordinarily talented, determined and dedicated founder, Joanne Haroutounian, PhD., who over the years has assembled hundreds of like-minded volunteer professionals committed to making a positive impact on children who love music. With a mission to create one musician at a time,MusicLink has developed a nationwide network of professional music teachers who volunteer to provide individual music lessons at a fraction of their cost or at no cost to young financially challenged students . To make this program viable, MusicLink also partners with businesses across the nation willing to provide the resources needed to nurture the musical interest and talent of a child who otherwise could not afford music lessons or instruments. From violins and pianos, to sheet music, playathons and more, students are offered resources and opportunities to help pursue their love of music. The stories of how MusicLink has impacted students and their families range from heartwarming to life-changing. On a personal level, this organization touches my heart everyday as it empowers children to pursue their dreams, develop their talent and grow their love of music. While not all MusicLink students will become professional musicians, they will become the audiences of the future. If you love music as I do, learn more about MusicLink at MusicLinkFoundation.org and consider becoming a business partner or making a donation.
I've had the privilege of being a Board Member of the MusicLink Foundation for several years and have seen from the inside the strong commitment and success of it's mission to provide any child who has musical potential with the opportunity to nurture this talent. Children from low income families with financial challenges are the cherished recipients of assistance by the MusicLink Foundation. The student/teacher stories are not only heart-warming but also stories of personal gratification, growth and success for students and teachers alike. The grassroots approach of the MusicLink Foundation is extraordinary and admirable, reaching thousands of students since its inception and engaging hundreds of professional music teachers to share their time and talent. I'm truly proud of this organization and its success in making a difference in the life of a child...and all who surround that child.
The resources available are too good not to share. I want to make sure everyone already in lessons - or wishing they had access - would find out about MusicLink as soon as possible. I am so grateful for their work and mission to make lessons affordable and easy to find for all people.
I have many students who have benefitted from the Music Link program, receiving instruments, fees for exams waived. They even got to play at the Mall of America.
I have been a musiclink teacher for many years. This program allows my students to participate in exam programs free of charge. They would not be able to afford the fees and lessons involved in learning an instrument otherwise. One of my students received a free piano when she was starting lessons. Ten years later, she won a music scholarship and entered university in the music business major. Musiclink foundation was instrumental in helping Rachel develop her talents.
MusicLink continues to assist my music school for mostly underprivileged students through instrument donation and discounted music. Some of these kids have been with us for more than five years so are becoming competent and growing musicians. Several participate in church services now. this is a very practical non-profit which facilitates the teacher and community helping a needy and committed family one by one.
Because of this Foundation, I have been able to place 15 free acoustic pianos into student homes and have purchased hundreds of dollars in music from business partners at deep discounts. With the help of this Foundation, my program has been able to serve the needs of more than thirty needy piano students and we have just expanded to include guitar. The MusicLink services are easy to access by families in need as well as easy for the teachers. MusicLink fills a vital niche in the music community!
So many students have the desire to learn music, but for many it is an unattainable dream merely because they are unable to afford lessons and obtain a practice instrument. The MusicLink Foundation has done an amazing job at working to eliminate this barrier to young students. Many students are now offered the chance to learn an instrument, and their dedicated teachers are supported through the foundation.
MusicLink has been an integral part of our children's music education for two years now. We have three children taking piano lessons and two others taking violin. Without the support of our piano teacher, who offers MusicLink lessons, we would never be able to afford lessons for our children. MusicLink also provides us with discounted entry fees for all of our recitals and competitions. It has been an amazing help to our family.
Teaching talented, but financially disadvantaged students is a fantastically rewarding experience, and the MusicLink Foundation really helps to make it happen. They provide help in finding students who would benefit, and help financially through business partners, and teacher reimbursements. The organization is efficiently run, and very helpful. I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience teaching MusicLink students!
I cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am for the Musiclink Foundation. They have helped my family out on countless occasions. Whether it was helping my kids pay for string lessons, giving scholarship money for summer camps, helping to obtain instruments, or enabling us to get new strings, Musiclink has always been there for us. I would never have been able to support my kids and their dreams of being professional string players were it not for Musiclink. My family is forever grateful to them for everything they do.
I first learned of the Musiclink Foundation from the director of my children's music school at a time when we were struggling to pay for lessons. We applied for a summer scholarship, and, as a result, my kids were able to attend a wonderful string camp. This was only the beginning, however, as we have continued to struggle financially, the Musiclink Foundation has provided wonderful support. My oldest son attended their conference in Virginia last June and received a beautiful viola. Then, around Christmastime, my youngest son received his very own cello. I feel truly blessed to have come to know this foundation; they have helped our family out more that I could have ever wished or imagined.
We have four young children that wanted to take violin and piano lessons; they begged for years. On a pastors salary, with a 9 year old and triplet 7 year olds we just couldn't afford lessons for all of them. We have been so thankful for the opportunities that MusicLink has given our family! Now we hear music in our house all the time! We have seen each of our children's confidence grow as they learn to play instruments they have always dreamed of playing. We are so very grateful to the teachers that are willing to work at a greatly discounted rate so every child has this opportunity. MusicLink opened doors for our family that we never thought possible!
MusicLInk Foundation provides incredible support to families who have the desire for their children to take lessons but do not have the means. They have many wonderful opportunities for the students and offer support to the teachers so that they can balance giving back to the community and making a living. Thank you for all you do MusicLink!
MusicLink is a wonderful asset and support to music teachers and students. The administrators are tireless in helping teachers find discounts and benefits for students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to study music. MusicLink is a privilege for the under-privileged, and a true support link for teachers who give lessons for free or at a discount. This is one of the most unique nonprofit organizations I've ever encountered, and I'm so grateful for it.
MusicLink Foundation provides support and opportunities for volunteer music teachers, and well-deserving students who wouldn't normally have access to music lessons.
I provide scholarships to three students who would be unable to study music without this aid. Because of the support I get from the MusicLink Foundation, I am able to ensure that these students receive the musical scores they need to support their studies and that they are able to participate in adjudicated Festivals and Syllabus examinations. Thanks to business sponsors of MusicLink, my students receive many other benefits, such as free concert tickets and piano tunings. Music plays such a significant role in these students' lives and MusicLink's part in supporting their study has been invaluable.
Musiclink Foundation does a great job at helping students study music who can't afford regularly-priced music lessons. I've thoroughly enjoyed being involved as a piano teacher.
I found MusicLink through MMTA and due to the easy and expert staff and volunteers, I was able to begin to teach three students immediately. The students were afforded free books, a donated keyboard, and the inspiration to make music. What an amazing and needed foundation!
I joined MusicLink as an active teacher volunteer in 2014, and have since taught several students through the program. I am proud to be able to offer piano lessons to low-income families in our community and I am glad that the foundation is here to support the students and teachers in many different ways.
I am a new teacher with MusicLink. Thanks to this wonderful foundation, my ML students are able to purchase music at a discounted rate.
I first learned about the Music Link foundation in 2003 while at a music conference. I had already been giving piano lessons to several students who would otherwise not have been able to afford it. While does not reimburse teachers for the amount that they offer in scholarship, it does award scholarships to students as well as providing free or reduced rate music and music equipment and supplies.
The Music Link foundation is a wonderful aid for those students who need help.
