Mission4Maureen is an awesome non-profit charity. The legacy of Maureen is extended through this chaity 100 fold. Spiritually,Financially, and personally,it supports families during critically tough times.
I became to know Mission4Maureen through a referral agency. My son was diagnoised with his second brain tumor, we were having a real hard time dealing with his diagnosis and the financial hardship was enourmous,I submitted an application and this nonprofit was Great, they helped with our rent and several other financial burdens that we were dealing with. Not only did they help, but the turn around was unbelievable, I just don't know where we would be without their help, they understood our need, they cared and you don't see that in a lot of nonprofits. Our family is truely blessed to have been referred to them.
I first learned about Mission4Maureen 2 years ago. At that time, I worked for a not for profit trade association. I knew first hand, how difficult it was to do fund raising, and to get people interested in a worthy and passionate cause. I was not only impressed, but touched with the gentle and kind way that the volunteers of Mission4Maureen handle their cause. Since then, I have kept in touch, kept informed and remain interested in the progress that this organization continues to make in order to impact the lives of those touched with this tragic and devistating form of cancer.
M4M...one word-AWESOME!!!!! This organization was built out of love and life. I will continue to support this cause for days to come.
Mission 4 Maureen is a cause that i love to see grow. It has continued to help so many people in need. This organization is a god sent to all those that have been been financially burdened by brain cancer. I will continue to support this wonderful cause and am excited to read about the future candidates. Much Love!
Mission 4 Maureen has not only changed my life but changes the lives of all that it touches. This non profit helps others who are not able to provide the much needed resources. Mission 4 Maureen is simply the best.
This is truly one of the best, honest, and caring organizations you could ever encounter. This foundation has a strong base and is dedicated to helping those people who are suffering from brain cancer. It has helped many people already and will continue to succeed for a long time due to the dedication of the founding parties. This foundation is amazing and makes you realize that everyone can make a difference.
Mission4Maureen is a life saving organization. There are very few organizations (if any?) that assist those struggling with brain cancer, and Mission4Maureen is exemplary. Without their assistance, my medical bills would have completely overwhelmed myself and my young family.
Within the last year or so, I have worked with Rosie Gellott as she has organized fund raising programs for MISSION 4 MAUREEN. As a concert promoter I was able to make available to her, ticket packages for attendance to live musical concerts with Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson. I was happy to hear that the packages we contributed raised significant money for the charity. Mission 4 Maureen is such a worthwhile endeavor, and offers immediate assistance to fund recipients. I highly recommend Mission 4 Maureen as an organization worthy of consideration for any funds that can be provided which will enable them to continue their kindly and viable operations.
Mission4Maureen is a mission that was started in memory of my college roommate and dear friend. Maureen was such an amazing and beautiful person inside and out! Her family absolutely adored her and vice versa. I can tell you that without a doubt this mission comes from the heart and with each person that it helps Maureen's spirit is renewed- what a cherished blessing. Everyone that knew Maureen knows that her zest for life must live on some way and some how and I know this mission is the way to for that to happen. I am forever a donor in Mission4Maureen
Brain cancer does not discriminate. Young, old, generous or poor, race, creed...it does not matter. The only difference between brain cancer patients is who can pay for treatment and not lose their home and who cannot. Mission4Maureen tries to help those who don't have the resources to afford treatment.
Maureen's story and the legacy that her family, friends and community have created in her honor is touching and inspiring.
I followed Maureen's story when she was sick with glioblastoma, the same cancer that took my mom ten months later. In her, I saw a woman with the same spirit as my mom- infectious, warm, caring. I watched as her community supported her and her family and it appears contiues to do so. This family and organization is such a positive part in the fight against brain cancers and for brain cancer families!
I have watched this organization grow from a direct-assistance fund for Maureen herself to an independent foundation that has helped dozens of patients across the country. The work they do is truly inspiring, and their dedication to brain cancer patient assistance is without equal.
M4M is based on the altruistic thoughts from Maureen before God called her home. This nonprofit provises financially for those cancer patient's and their family who are likely to have severe financial issues. Maureen was a blessing to all who knew her, her caring ways continue in her memory. Our world will never be the same, and it's not because Maureen is gone. It is because she was here in the first place.
Maureen thought she had migraines. Terry thought he had a sinus infection. Michael was treated for snoring. Robert blanked out while driving his car. None of them imagined they had brain cancer, but all of them suddenly had mountains of medical expenses. Not everything is covered by insurance and trying to afford treatment and pay normal household expenses becomes an immeasurable challenge. For these patients there are few organizations to which to turn but Mission4Maureen is one of them.
Our experience with Mission4Maureen was brief but unbelievably helpful at a very stressful time in our lives. My son, Zachary, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a malignant brain stem tumor, at age 5. He underwent surgery and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment. As you can imagine, just the news alone has been devastating to our family, but we are managing to wade through this process and deal with each step day by day (sometimes minute by minute). Although there is never a “good” time to receive such news, this happened to hit us at a particularly rough time in our financial circumstances. Due to the recession, we experienced a dramatic loss of income. The medical circumstances surrounding childhood cancer are stressful enough, and the financial burdens only exacerbate it. When we received the forms, we weren’t comfortable asking for a specific dollar amount, so we just said that any financial assistance would be greatly appreciated. Just when we thought there was no relief in sight, our prayers were answered faithfully when we received an unbelievable letter from the Mission4Maureen organization announcing that we were to receive an extremely generous cash donation payable on our behalf. Needless to say, we were ecstatic and overwhelmed with the response we received. In the past, we have donated to other organizations that help families in need in similar circumstances, never knowing that we would one day be a recipient of others’ generosity! If others knew that one day it could be “their” family member, perhaps there would be many more programs available…but there is no crystal ball. This is a gift from that comes straight from the heart with LOTS OF HELP from wonderful organizations such as Mission4Maureen that actually don’t just sit back and wait for people to contact them but REACH OUT to the affected families through caring social workers. We would not have known that this organization existed had it not been for the intricate arrangement of many wonderful people. Additionally, we would like to thank those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to contact donor families as well as those who are continually working to generate the funds that make Mission4Maureen and similar programs possible. Without their effort, combined with the generosity of millions of donors, this financial assistance would not be possible. Again, we’re so thankful for organizations such as Mission4Maureen and all of the kind and compassionate individuals, families and businesses that band together to donate time and financial resources to assist families in crisis. Please consider Mission4Maureen in your quest to honor Great Nonprofits! Thank you. P.S. In addition to the wonderful monetary gift, please also remember to PRAY for Zachary’s health - as well as the health of all of the children who suffer from this terrible disease - prayer is a free, yet priceless, gift!
As a cousin of Maureen, knowing her strength and courage and the will-to-live during the traumatic time she had and the fact it was only natural for her family to continue her plight to fight this disease through her name is a compliment to her legacy and family. With the growth of this non-profit organization has something to be said for.
Mission4Maureen is the most amazing nonprofit organization I have ever been involved with. It has opened up my mind and heart about cancer, what can be done to help those with cancer and how amazing people are that you don't even know who have a loving and Godlike spirit. I have referred people to the organization that have people in their life that are fighting the cancer and might need guidance, help, prayers, resources. When I first learned about Mission4Maureen, it was a small website to update people on Maureen's illness when she was sick and her family. I was so addicated to learn how she was doing, pray for her and connect with others who shared the same interest. I have continued to follow the organizaiton and website and love to get updates on how the Maureen's family is doing and what wonderful things the organization has accomplished for others that are suffering from cancer. Although Maureen is no longer with us here on earth, her legacy and that of Mission4Maureen lives on so strongly...it's amazing!!
I think this is a fantastic organization that reaches out to real families who are suffering the emotional, physical and financial pains of cancer. This organization was born out of love of a lost family member and can truly relate to each person who reaches out to it to request assistance.
They have taken a terrible loss and turned into selfless acts of kindness. the spirit of Maureen Lowis lives on in the families this foundation touches. If she could take all the pain and suffering that goes along with this disease she would. The foundation attempts to take away some of the financial stress and lets families focus on the importan matters of getting the patient better.
Mission4Maureen is a wonderful organization ! Though so much time and money goes into cancer research, little is spent on brain cancer. This organization has not only helped with research but also has helped so many families personally through their cancer journey. Maureen would be so proud!
Mission4Maureen is one of the best charities around because it helps people who are really having trouble financially. Other cancers have many foundations that help patients, but brain cancer patients don't get much attention or help. Mission4Maureen is helping to fill a gap in caring about and helping these patients and their families.
Mission4Maureen has been filling a need that has often been overlooked. By helping families in day to day finances, they can focus their energy on what really matters. Maureen's family and friends are an inspiration with their selflessness and helping others. I have referred several friends to this non-profit for their loved ones battling brain cancer.
Maureen was my sister in law and her cause representes exactly what she wanted- to help others in need that are suffering this illness. I have recommended some of my own friends to her site for assistance who are battling with brain cancer in their families. I know she smiles as she looks down upon us and watches over her family and this great cause.
Mission4Maureen is an awesome & supportive organization. They stepped in during a very challenging time in my life & assisted with my mortgage. After my 2nd Brain Tumor Removal surgery in June,2008, I was in the hospital for almost a month recovering and basically learning to walk all over again. The planner that I am, I simply did not expect nor could effectively plan for the length of time that I would be away from my job on medical leave. The decline of the economy happened at the same time. My husband and daughter were in a severe car accident 5 days after my surgery and they are both still recovering. As a result, my husband has not been able to add to the family income. 33 consecutive days of radiation daily at a distance of 66 miles roundtrip to the hospital was costly. It saved my life but added to everything else on my family's plate. I decided to write to mission4maureen for financial asssistance. I could relate to Maureen's story as a mom. It broke my heart to learn that unfortunately she lost her battle with her brain tumor. That and my faith in God fueled me to do everything I can to get back to being myself to be more of an asset to my family, as we are not promised tomorrow. This whole experience has been an unanticipated humbling one. Through needing help through my recovery, and ultimately needing help financially. They helped with us catch up our mortgage. I will be forever grateful. Once am released to return to work, which WILL happen, I feel obligated to make a contribution to Mission4Maureen to help another family.
I have never heard a negative thing about this organization. In fact, the only responses I get are positive ones, either from people who have received help, or heard about or been a part of the Mission4Maureen.
My best friend Monica Young Henry is Maureen's husband's aunt. I found out early on about Maureen's diagnosis. Though I live in New York and the Lowis' in Ohio, I was always kept apprised of Maureen's health status from her Aunt Monica. I would occassionally hear from Terrence as well - we shared the fact that he grew up not far from me. Maureen's selflessness, faith, love for family and friends inspires me still. I never met her personally, but I felt like I knew her. There were so many ups and downs with this debilitating illness - I couldn't imagine how this bright, beautiful young couple and parents of 3 children could cope. And yet they did. When Maureen passed away, fittingly, on Good Friday - I felt like I had lost a friend. I pray for her family every night. It is a priviledge to know this family - they are remarkable especially in the way they have turned a tragedy into something so positive and Maureen continues to help others. I proudly wear a bracelet that one of Maureen's friends made. It is my "Angel" bracelet. Barbara Biuso - South Setauket, NY 7/28/2009
I discovered Mission4Maureen on Facebook through a mutual friend. She informed me of the cause and I am elated to be a member of this cause. I would have loved to have met Maureen, through her mission I am getting the chance.
My wife is Maureen's cousin. Though our son and I were unable to meet Maureen we feel we are getting the chance to know her through the lives she is touching. I am honored to be affiliated with such a wonderful organization and I get excited to read the stories of who is next to receive assistance. My wife refers to Maureen as our son's guardian angel and through this organization I believe she is a guardian angel to everyone involved. M4M is truly worthy of receiving the Cancer Fighters Award and I look forward to seeing them receive it.
This foundation was one of the best to work with when we where in major need for our Daughter. I had put out hudreds of applications for assistance trying to help get my family back on there feet when our Daugther was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor back in January of 08. Mission4Maureen was one of the first places to contact me back and made it very simple to be able to use there services. They where so compationite and helpfull, and really did there all to make our dificult time so much more easy on us. If it was not for them we could not have made it threw or kept out home due to being out of work so long to rehabilitate our daugther after sugery. They are a wonderful foundation and I thank God that we where directed to them in our time of need. They are truly angels to our family.
This is a great foundation, helping many in need. All donations go to those who apply and are in need, with very little overhead cost. The foundation is growing rapidly and receiving grants successfully.
My fifteen year old daughter was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor in January of this year. We learned about Mission4Maureen from the hospital social worker. After a very simple application process we learned that even though my daughter lost her battle with cancer a very short time later, Mission4Maureen would still assist our family financially. They paid our mortgage which was a true blessing to us financially.
I followed the story of this courageous woman (Maureen Walker Lowis) and her family throughout her illness. I was intensely touched by their loving bond and spirituality and how they faced the uncertainty of a tragic situation with such dignity and strength. The experience moved me deeply. And I feel I've become a better person because I was priviledged to participate in her journey, even from the outside. I have only great repspect for Maureen's husband and her family in developing her Mission and in all they've accomplished. They've taken what concerned and mattered to her to heart and now try to help those who also suffer from brain cancer. I look forward to helping in any way that I can, and it makes me so proud to know I can make a difference through all of their efforts. I urge you to recognize this GREAT Non-Profit Organization for all of its works that comes straight from the heart!
M4M is truly a great organization with well-minded, people who go out of their way to help others in times were help is so desperately needed. Simple acts go a long way. This is a great organization and I support everything you do.
This organization was a God sent to my parents who are dealing with brain cancer. For the first time in over a year, they did not have to worry about money. It is hard enough to deal with this disease, but knowing the financial burdens that comes with it is sometimes even harder. I love what this organization does, and will continue to make donations. Any little bit helps.
This foundation is an incredible organization driven by a family who lost their young, vibrant, beautiful daughter to brain cancer. It was created out of love and will continue to flourish out of love.It will provide much needed funds for families stuggling with the monetery burden placed on them in trying to get their loved ones much needed brain cancer treatments
M4M is my favorite nonprofit. I donate every year because the organization supports families as they are going through the most difficult times. There direct approach in helping families focus on their loved ones instead of on their new financial burden should be a model for all non profits.
This foundation is truly a God send to those family's who are going through difficult times during cancer. Not only was this Maureen's wish to help other families who suffer in the same way she did, but, her family contributes tremendously by way of fundraising, raffles, triathlons/races etc.
The M4M foundation allows families to focus on the business of getting well and not having to worry about how the bills are going to be paid. There are so many charities working on research which is great but to have a charity that focuses on helping families with the day to day it rare and so important. They have helped so many people and I know with Maureens help will continue to do this great work.
A great resource and a site that makes you feel good about doing something. The mission statement is spot on too.
To be a part of Mission 4 Maureen is sharing in the vision of a selfless, loving and caring individual. Maureen wanted nothing more than to make a difference in other's lives and with the help of her husband, father, children, family and friends her mission is being carried out. I have been a proud supporter of M4M since the beginning. I have taken alot of pride in recruiting online supporters through social networking, participating in raffle events and personal contributions. I am blessed to be apart of such a wonderful organization and look forward to seeing how many lives can be touched by this cause.
The mission statement-"Nobody can do everything, but everybody can do somehting" is exactly how this small but very dedicated organization works. The efforts of the people and the patients and their families who benefit from their work know- M4M pays it forward! When faced with over-whelming issues, they get at least a little renewed faith and hope from the M4M. So many times we want to help but either are not asked or do not know how to help a family in this type of situation. M4M, with their motto, shows that everyone can do something either by supporting M4M finacially, or recommending a family or individual who needs assistance. Donations to M4M go directly to families who need it, not into an organization that has overhead and expenses that interfere with the donations getting to those who need it. Thanks to those who are the M4M. You have taught me what a commitment to a mission really means.
mission Maureeen was a God send. After our daughter was diagnosed with a maligant brain tumor. I stopped working the day of diagnosis. to take care of her. this cut our house hold income to less than Half. Within no time our reserve funds were used up. Mission for Maureen has paid two months of mortgage for us. we would have been out on the street with a very sick child had it not been for this network. This diagnosis could not have come at a worse econimic time.with so may jobs being lost. We have to travel long distance for treatment. and sometimes to fill the vehicle takes the very last of funds. I hate to say it but I am glad when we go to the hospital. then I know that our daughter will get good nutritious meals for a few days. we do not qualify for assistance from the gov. This has been a dark journey. and we just pray a successful outcome.. may God continue to bless this charity and all they do for others.
If there were more stars to fill in under the "Overall Rating", it still would not be enough to let the public know the difference "MISSION4MAUREEN" has made in many lives. Maureen wanted nothing more then to touch the lives of children, adults and their loved ones that were suffering from this terrible disease. Our family has made this "Mission" our mission and will continue to do so until the last family has to suffer no longer.
Mission4Maureen was initiated out of love and passion from a young wife and mother who died of brain cancer leaving 3 young children who of course didn't understand. Their Mother wanted this help for others...wanted her children to learn about outreach and giving, thus, her dream became the passion of her loving family...to help other families who have a loved one that suffers from cancer and needs financial assistance. This young Mother was never so self-absorbed in her own illness to forget about others, especially a little boy she met in the hospital who too suffered from cancer. Maureen's husband, children and family, participate in any activity that promotes Mission4Maureen, always feeling the loving spirit of their Mother, Wife, Sister, and Daughter embracing them.
This nonprofit organization was conceived in honor of its namesake, Maureen, who was taken from her husband, three children under 5, and her loving family at the age of 35 by a Glioblastoma. Maureen's father and husband founded the organization, and also includes Maureen's brothers who take part in triathalons in her memory and honor to raise funds to help others financially in their dealing with Cancer. The organization holds annual fund raisers, but there are just not enough people out there aware of it. This organization could do so much if only the word was spread, which is my reason for writing the review. Top notch organization, volunteers, and family attempting to help others.
Mission4Maureen is a very dedicated nonprofit organization to assist those who have cancer.Their team is very helpfull, professional and compassionate in what they do.
Mission4Maureen was extrememly helpful to a family that I referred to them. The family was facing mounting financial troubles that were preventing them from being able to focus on what mattered most--their ill child. Mission4Maureen quickly answered this family's needs, assisting with outstanding utility bills and housing costs, allowing the family to regain a sense of stability, not only financial, but emotional as well.
We were really fortunate to come across Mission4Maureen. The organization has been very supportive to our family and understands the needs of families dealing with cancer. Our 3 year old was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma on Nov 28, 2008. At the time we were both working full time and I was 4 months pregnant. Since then, we are down to one income and I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on April 9th. The organization was able to assist us with some of our financial needs. They are a blessing and wondering group of people.
The Mission 4 Maureen is wonderful. They helped us save of familly home of more than 41 years by making our house payment for 6 months. Additionally, they accepted donations from others on our behalf. We simply cannot thank the Mission 4 Maureen enough. My daughter has been battling primary brain cancer for 15 years. I have had to refinance many times in order to offset the high cost of having brain cancer, the high cost of uncovered expenses, travel for treatment such as brain surgery, etc. I am also disabled and feared losing the only home we have ever known. The kindness the Mission 4 Maureen showed us was inspiring, and we hope we will be able to pay it forward one day. We are forever grateful to the Mission 4 Maureen. Sincerely, Jan OBrien Tacoma, Washington
For ten years our son, Cole has battled a terminal Brain cancer. 19 Surgeries, 3 years of chemotherapy and 7 weeks of Radiation. During this horrific time we hav endured so much, I honestly don't know how we all are still here and together. A few months ago, our Cancer Navigator introduced us to Mission4Maureen. This organization was not only prompt on helping us with our needs but really wanted to help us. Mission4Maureen paid our housepayment for 6 months, electric, gas and water bill so we wouldn't loose service. We have never had a n organization that helped so much. In October of 08 my husband was fired after 15 years with one company. He was then denied unemployment 2 times! April of this year my husband found a job, drastic pay cut, but for 7 months we had ZERO income! I am trying to recover from a back surgery, but my latest MRI results showed more diseases in my spine. It dosen't look too good for me. 2 years ago I was diagnosed with a Brain Tumor in January. A meningioma in my frontal lobe. To top that off, I am just now in remission from Ovarian cancer that I was diagnosed with at age 26. Our family continues to endure horrific health concerns and financial. I am not sure why but I will tell you something, We thank God for Mission4Maureen. Without you guys we wouldn't be able to keep our house, the place we all come together and pray, love and adore one another. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Mission For Maureen stepped in when we were in dire need of help... they are absolutely wonderful!! Our daughter, which was only 23 months old at the time, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, and I, her mother, stopped working to stay at home to care for her. Our household income immediately went from two incomes down to one and a lot of extra expenses were added for her care. Mission For Maureen completely understood our situation and did not hesitate to help us tremendously. One month of our house payment was paid and two months of utility bills were paid as well!! This was soooo helpful, I cannot even explain how thankful we were. It allowed us to put all of our focus in the right places instead of worrying about what we were going to do to make ends meet. We appreciate them so much and words cannot express how thankful for Mission For Maureen being a part of our lives.
Hello, My husband had brain tumor last year, he since pass away .Mission 4 maureen was able to help me in this difficult time of my life , my husband was gone to soon, Thanks to the help of mission 4 maureen, they where able to help me in this difficult time of my life. perhaps one day i will be able to help another family. again from the bottom of my heart. thanks a million
This organization came through for me and my family by paying my delinquent mortgage. The total came to over $3,600.00!
