My son and I just returned from our mission trip in Guatemala and the experience was amazing. Mission Guatemala is truly a wonderful non profit organization that helps the community in so many ways while treating the people in the community with respect and kindness. All of the staff members are great!!
Mission Guatemala is an excellent organization and our mission trip experience was a wonderful opportunity to participate in a service project and learn about their clinic and outreach efforts in the area. Good accommodations, great food and friendly, helpful and informed staff.
I am totally impressed with the works and accomplishments that Mission Guatemala has done for the people in this beautiful country. Through their dedicated staffs, I had the opportunity to learn about the people, the culture, and the accomplishments. I am looking forward to return in the near future.
I very much enjoyed my trip to Mission Guatemala July 29 - August 6. Everyone who works for Mission Guatemala is very focused on the safely of all of the volunteers as well as the people of Guatemala.
This was a fantastic host for our mission trip. They are very interested in building the local community instead of just providing services. They charge a minimal fee for medical and education services so there is buy-in from the locals. They try to buy local and use local help when possible. We felt well taken care of as a mission group, but were allowed a lot of freedom as well. They did a great job of introducing us to the local culture.
My week spent working with Mission Guatemala was a wonderful experience. I was very pleased with the well planned projects, transportation and meals, hospitality and care from the employees, opportunity to learn about the mission's history and current projects, and the fun cultural experiences.
By the end of my trip I felt like family with the Mission Guatemala employees, the team I traveled with, and the team we worked alongside. It was hard to leave, and I definitely want to return to help Mission Guatemala. It is a great organization with wonderful people!
An amazing week that was well organized and fun! Mission Guatemala truly has an incredible impact on the community!
I had my first week working with Mission Guatemala last week and it was outstanding!! The work they do in Guatemala is so important and is life changing to the people there.
Mission Guatemala has changed my life. Employees are welcoming, knowledgeable, and hilarious. The River House is extremely comfortable and feels very safe. A big emphasis is put on safety, which was very nice to see. The way the whole mission goes about it's work makes it so clear that sharing the love of God is the number one priority. Mission Guatemala made my trip an incredible and unforgettable experience and I will be going back as soon as possible.
I was very impressed with Mission Guatemala and their efforts to help the Guatemalan people while continuing to honor the culture and people living there. This week, I had the opportunity
to see how Mission Guatemala works to improve Guatemalans health, through the medical facilities and food programs they offer, as well as education services through the construction projects they fund. I was also very impressed with how inclusive they are to the Guatemalan people as most of the people we worked with were from Guatemala and many of them didn't know English. It was very obvious how much Mission Guatemala does to encourage the Guatemalan culture through our activities throughout the week.
The week we spent with the Mission Guatemala teams was life changing. They are doing wonderful work for children and families! We will be sponsoring a child for the lunch and medical care program! The week was a true blessing for our family and we will be back to see Dave, Daniel, Delia, Max, Shannon and the rest of the wonderful staff that is focused on doing all the good they can! Thank you for an incredible, life changing week full of learning, giving, and receiving joy!
What an amazing week! Guatemala is a beautiful country with beautiful people. Mission Guatemala did a wonderful job immersing us in the Mayan culture. Our translators never tired of our endless questions and we experienced so much in a week- from building a new office for the school district to spending time with local children doing bible school to shopping in the market. It was truly a mountain-top experience.
This place is sick! They do so much good for the Guatemalan people and are super efficient at doing so. Keep up the awesome work Dave, Max, Shannon, and the rest of the fam!
Mission Guatemala was excellent in catering to the needs of the community as well as the volunteers. I have nothing but high praise for my experience.
Mission Guatemala is a wonderful organization. They not only provide resources and labor for many projects, but they also teach people how to fish. Meaning, they help people to help themselves in the process. They work closely with community leaders to determine exactly what they need. In other words, they LISTEN to the people they are helping. This allows them to provide the services/things that the community really needs. Not what they think the community might need.
I recently volunteered to work on one of their projects and it was a great experience. They were wonderful hosts to me, the project was well run and organized. And they have a wonderful reputation in the communities that they serve.
Our mission team had a great experience. Mission Guatemala's model for serving is the best I've seen in in the 3 different mission programs I've participated in.
This was our church's first experience with Mission Guatemala and I would proudly and wholeheartedly recommend them. Dave, Shannon and Max did a wonderful job working with us to create a mission trip unlike any our church has ever experienced. Daniel, our team coordinator, and all our Guatemalan interpreters, workers, and foremen were so helpful and patient on the work site. Our accommodations at the River House were superb and the food was outstanding! We also had three opportunities to enjoy Guatemalan culture in Chichicastenango, San Juan, and Panajachel, as well as tour the medical, dental, and optometry clinic that Mission Guatemala operates. I love the way that Mission Guatemala offers a helping hand up while preserving dignity, pride, and self worth. They care about the people of Guatemala and have cultivated an atmosphere of trust and love within the community. The folks at Mission Guatemala are doing things right and taking the proper steps to work with the people of Guatemala for the benefit of everyone. If you want to experience Guatemala and work with some wonderful people who are helping to make lives better for others, then this is the organization for you and your church.
Mission Guatemala is a well run organization that serves the needs of the San Andres area of Mayan Guatemala. So much is done in so many of the communities and I am proud to be a yearly volunteer with this terrific testimony of God's unending grace!
Such a great experience! Amazing team and people. I felt safe the whole time. Words can't explain how awesome it was. Never wanted to leave!!!!!
An awesome mission experience! Our entire experience was orchestrated to give us the opportunity to experience and learn about the Mayan people while helping to build the House of the Teachers. "The Casa del Maestros" project gave us an opportunity for all members/ages to have meaningful opportunities to contribute to the construction. We were so blessed by the largely Mayan staff, interpreters, construction workers as we communicated with Spanish, English, gestures and smiles. All of our transportation, accommodations, meals and personal needs were taken care of, while allowing us the opportunity to make so many meaningful contributions including our daily guacamole which accompanied every day's lunch. Seeing the Medicial Clinic and hearing about all of the ways Mission Guatemala has served along side the Mayan people as new needs were discovered was inspirational. We were privileged to unload 40,000 pounds of enriched rice from "Pack Away Hunger" from our home state Indiana.
Everything we touched, including an afternoon with local school children, left us feeling that our lives in the United States were overflowing with abundance; while at the same time we were able to share in so many ways with people who taught us what faith and joy truly look like. We raised money for this trip for two years and before we left we scheduled our next trip with Mission Guatemala. May God continue to bless the work and people of Mission Guatemala and those they serve.
