MEOW is amazing! They truly care about the kitties they rescue and the adoptive families. I support MEOW in many ways including as a donor and past volunteer and have since 1999. I have also had the joy of bringing a number of rescued MEOW kitties into my family.
When a pregnant stray kitty showed up on our doorstep in Tacoma, they were the only ones who actually answered their phone and my questions. I felt absolutely confident that this sweet stray kitty would not only have the best care for the rest of her pregnancy, but that she would be given every opportunity to find a furever home as well. Thank you, MEOW, for caring for these babies as much as we do.
This is a great shelter. I have been there few times.
The volunteers and staff at MEOW are incredibly kind, dedicated, and invested to making sure that their animals have the best lives possible. We adopted two a bonded pair who, despite offers to adopt one of the two, MEOW had refused to separate. One of them also had chronic health issues, and MEOW was not only upfront and informative about his issues, but had been taking him to a specialist to make sure that he got the care he needed. It was an amazing adoption experience, and I strongly recommend MEOW to all of my acquaintances in WA who are looking to adopt.
MEOW is one of the most caring, dedicated and professional rescues in Washington. They do amazing work with homeless cats and kittens and I have nothing but pure admiration for their work. Well respected by other rescues in the area, they continue year after year to demonstrate compassion both to animals and to the humans in their community.
This group is amazing. Their dedication to the cats is incredible. I can't say enough good things about their collaborations with other groups for the betterment of cats. I feel so grateful to know and work along side these dedicated individuals.
I think MEOW is an amazing non profit shelter. I have only been volunteering there now for about 6 months, but my family has been a part of MEOW for awhile. All of our current cats, ranging from ages 3 to about 8 have all been adopted from there, as well as, family friends of our have been fosters for them for some time now.
I appreciate everything MEOW does, in the sense that they truly love what they do, helping the cats and dogs of the area find homes, but also helping the people of the community find good fits. All of the cats that come through the shelter are, of course, wonderful, no matter the personality. I love what they are doing and what they continue to do and I love helping out in whatever way I am able to.
I was a foster for a shelter in TN and had take in 3 kittens who turned out to be FeLV positive. After contacting dozens of rescues to try to place them, Bonnie at MEOW Cat Rescue was the only one who called me. MEOW could not take the kittens, but she gave me advice on placing them, made suggestions, and used her contacts. Because of her, they were placed at Best Friends. She gave me hope and helped me when she could have just turned me down. She showed real compassion and is truly there to help the animals. I have great respect for Bonnie and MEOW Cat Rescue. I wish I lived nearby so I could foster for them.
I was introduced to this organization when I starting looking for a canine companion for my Shar-Pei. I adopted Sampson from the canine side of this organization. They were very through before they would adopt out this special boy...Including a home visit to ensure he would be safe. Years later, when Sampson crossed the rainbow bridge, I didn't hesitate to contact them again to adopt my next fur child. And that is also whe I became interested in fostering the homeless fur kids until they could find their forever homes.
None of the dogs that are adopted from the canine side are housed in shelters...They are all fostered in family homes where their personalities, behaviors and temperaments are evaluated in a real situation and we are able to place the right dogs in the right homes.
All dogs are vet checked and any problems corrected prior to going to their forever home.
MEOW does a great job of matching adopters to pets
I adopted my cat, Leo, from MEOW in January. The adoption counselors and other volunteers at MEOW were all wonderful! The shelter is clean and smells good. The cats are all comfortable, and as a no-kill shelter, the cats have all the time they need to find their ideal home! They followed up with me to see how things were going with the new cat. They offered plenty of helpful advice regarding integrating Leo into my existing multi-cat home. All around, they provide a very positive atmosphere for both the cats and the public.
This is the most amazing group of passionate people. Kept reading the posts about their animals and got my first rescue from them. It was an amazing experience and we love our new child, Murphy Brown. I highly recommend this group.
Amazing organization. They do so much for these animals. I have adopted many dogs from this rescue. They truly care about the dogs and making sure that they have the perfect happy ending! Kelly is the best!!
These are some of the best folks on the entire planet and their network of caring foster volunteers is incredible.
May I say that it is so heartwarming to see what Meow Cat rescue (k9 division) shows me day in and day out what can be done to save the lives of voiceless animals. I'm truly amazed at the effort, compassion, commitment, love, and the organizing of travel and medical appointments for those in need. I see first hand on what these rescuers and volunteers do to correct horrific wrongs that are done to animals. With so much abuse ,neglect, and barbaric acts towards animals I say thank you and God bless you for all that you do to give these animals care, love, respect , a new life and forever homes. I bow down to all associated with Mercer Island Eastside Orphans & Waifs . Paws up on so many levels !!!!!!! Wag on
We adopted our dog from MEOW (canine division). Kelly, our contact, was exceptionally timely in responding to our inquiry, prompt in communicating with us throughout the process, and seemed to have a very experienced, intuitive grasp of matching dogs and families. The dog we adopted had been very well cared for once rescued from a South Korean city pound, and we got excellent advice about how to make her transition to our home smooth. Kelly went above and beyond in counseling us, weeks after the adoption, when our vet got confused about our dog's medical history. I would recommend MEOW to anyone looking to rescue a pet, and I would recommend MEOW to anyone who wants to donate money toward animal welfare. They are a small, nimble organization that really cares about the work that they do.
MEOW cat rescue is a wonderful group of people who care for the cats at their business. They make sure the people that adopt from them are prepared for the life with a cat of kitten. I personally have two adorable kitties from them. They are also the 1st nonprofit when I have extra money to donate.
I love this shelter!! My husband and I foster kittens for them and over the course of the last 3 years have ended up keeping 2 and also adopted an adult cat. Their staff is so helpful and truly match people with the right cat. I highly recommend MEOW!!
We adopted our big boy Conan in 2003 (formerly "Ripley"). I was originally attracted to other cats in the shelter, but the volunteer I spoke with steered me towards a cat that she felt was a better fit. She did a superb job of considering our boys needs and matched him with the right household. He was a handful at times but brought us many years of joy. Sadly we lost him to cancer a few weeks ago. Because I had such a great experience with this shelter when I adopted Conan, we will be back to Meow to search for another boy to rescue. What impresses me most about this shelter is that they are more interested in finding the right home for their kitties, rather than just getting them out of the shelter.
I starting volunteering at MEOW by accident. I noticed the shelter one day, and on a whim, I went in. My excuse to myself was that my one cat might like a cat friend. I was greeted by a friendly woman who showed me around the shelter so I could look at all the available cats. I don't know what made me ask her if I could volunteer, but I did. I started volunteering at MEOW the following week. It's been about 11 years now, and I've met lots of people. So many excellent friends who also volunteer. So many adopters who met the perfect cat. So many foster families who care for the so many kittens and moms. I think MEOW has some of the best volunteers anywhere on earth.
Before moving to Idaho, I was a foster mom for MEOW for 10 years. Kittens from this organization are loved and spoiled from day one. The staff at MEOW is always ready to help with questions from the foster parents. They assist with medical problems, call when it is time for shots and worming. You never feel alone. If a kitten needs medical attention, they have vets lined up to help out. When it is time to bring your little wards in for spay/neuter and adoption, they are there to support you as you reliquesh your charges to their forever homes. I felt loved and appreciated always. I knew my babies I fostered were going to their forever homes and would continue to be loved and spoiled. This is the best organization I have ever encountered and would not hesitate in adopting from them. They ROCK!
