I researched this charity, Last Chance for Animals, before I donated. They have the highest charity ratings on give.org and charity navigator. I called their office and spoke to their campaigns director who gave me information on their current investigations and campaigns. I was really impressed with the quality of work they are doing and on a lower budget than most animal advocacy organizations. Their work is impressive and the organization is led by one of the pioneers of the animal rights movement, Chris DeRose. I recommend everyone to support this organization if you love animals. They are doing great work! I signed up for monthly donations.
Last Chance for Animals helps many animals throughout the world by bringing much needed attention to their suffering and helping to end it. This includes their work to protect endangered species, speaking up for animals in captivity and helping to end the barbaric dog and cat meat trade.
I have supported LAST CHANCE FOR ANIMALS for at least the last 15 or 20 years. They are always on the ground where needed and work endlessly to improve and/or change terrible situations for animals.
This is one group I will always give to and their great work deserves our support!
I am a Norwegian author and have been fighting animal rights since I was a child. I am a vegan, and was a vegetarian from the age of thirteen to 45. Now I could never eat or drink any dairy products. LCA has made mw aware of subjects I thought people had forgotten, and they are so important because they treat all animals qual and show us how awful we behave towards animals. I hope the next generation will be better and more human, due to the work and effort LCA do for the weakest and most lovable creatures in the world: animals.

We have always been impressed with the campaigns they have chosen to pursue, their actions and effectiveness. We are very selective about the nonprofits we support, and Last Chance for Animals has never disappointed us. They do great work!

This amazing charity has saved countless animals from pain, suffering and death. They are constantly on the fight against the cruelty that animals face every day. Their compassion and dedication is amazing.
LCA is a great charity as it helps defend animals in far away places ie the dog meat trade and seems to be having success it also sends detailed emails of its work with pictures
I have been following LCA for about 15 years. They do an amazing job of opening people's eyes to the inhumanities inflicted on animals. Their "Puppies Aren't Products" puppy mill campaign started it all for me. I strongly believe that due to their diligence, many people have become aware of the issues.

LCA does a great job in bringing to people's attention the suffering that's behind the cruel factory farming practices as well as other issues related to animal rights like greyhound racing.

Well, I had found two dogs in a field behind where I work. They were. Not old but
Very dirty and skinny. They had ragged ears, their coats were filthy, I felt bad so
I tried to get them to follow me. I figured I'd take them to a shelter. But my boss,
A lady, said they will kill these guys. They're not adoptable. So long story shorter,

Every time I have worked with the people at LCA I have experienced Incompetence, egos, and a complete lack of knowledge and understanding from their CEO/Founder. It seems to me that this group is set up to generate money for the CEO/Founder who then travels around the world like a celebrity while leaving his staff to figure out what to do with no oversight.
For various reasons, we had to work with them in the past, but there are so many other, and better, non-profits that do the same sort of work now. We don't deal with them anymore, and from what I have seen recently the incompetence and egos have gotten even worse.
Well first, this group has an extremely high rating on Charity Navigator - at 97.4 out of 100 points - I have never seen such a high rating. Administrative expenses are 4.1% which is outstanding and very unusual. So that's great
They communicate with their donors and volunteers often by sending out e-mails to let them know what they are doing which is saving many many animals!
I like that they have many different causes they are pursuing - campaigning against AgGag laws, against China's horrific dog meat trade, for African gorillas for example.
I would say that this non-profit is extremely well-run, to have such low admin costs and such widely varying campaigns.
They work tirelessly on behalf of animals. In addition to the work they do around the world, they keep the rest of us informed and let us know how we can each, in our own small way, contribute to the cause of saving our co-inhabitants of planet Earth.
LCA fights the good fight for animal rights every day. They're in the trenches, not for the glamour, but for the animals.
I'm 81 yrs. old. I've been contacted by numerous charities for animal welfare over many years. Some have proven to be less than successful in their efforts and I don't send them money anymore. Because my funds are limited I have only a few that I feel are the most important to include in giving. Last Chance for Animals is one of them. I first learned of their work over 16 yrs. ago and have seen them expand their efforts globally to include welfare of various animals. What impresses me is the fact that they actually send undercover agents to verify how animals are being mistreated and then notify the proper authorities and the public. This organizations is great! I love the way the send out e-mails to let us know what they are doing and what they are doing is saving many many animals! They are one of the top Animal organizations!
Last Chance for Animals has so many success stories. I think that everyone associated with this nonprofit work so hard and put their hearts fully into all they do for animals!!
Important work I'm aware of that they're helping with are the brutal dog meat trade in China, spreading awareness of abuse and cruelty in circuses and trying to convince circuses to stop having animals in their shows (and I'm so happy Ringling Brothers Circus decided to retire their elephants and will let them live out their years in their sanctuary), and getting equipment to park rangers in Africa where threatened Mountain Gorillas live, to help the gorillas that are left to survive.
But I understand that LCFA does so much more ... it's my honor and delight to write this review about a wonderful organization working hard for animals and being their "voice" ... I am grateful to these devoted people for all they do.

I want to recommend the charity because they are helping animals all over the world. I especially love that they are working to stop the dog and cat meat trade in China. This charity is so needed today.
This is one of the best charities around. Never met any of them but read about what they do online & it is great ! I believe they have a 4 star rating (highest you can receive) so giving to them is worry-free. I, personally cannot afford to give any money to help them because I don't have any extra (I live below poverty level & have 3 rescues I take care of myself). But I do support them by signing all their petitions.
Great charity that helps animals of all kinds! And does not over do it with sending so much postal mail or emails.
My experience with Last Chance for Animals is that it is an ethical organization deeply dedicated to ending some of the rampant animal cruelty around the the world.
The most impressive work, in my opinion, is their rescue of dogs from the dog meat trade. This can be dangerous as those who are perpetuating this cruel business do not readily give up the dogs they are preparing to butcher. Nevertheless, this organization works fearlessly and tirelessly in saving the dogs and finding them safe places to live.
This organization posts misleading and slanderous information about companies without any proof to back up their claims. Hello Nancy93: Please go to Charity Navigator and you will see that Last Chance for Animals' rating is currently at 3 stars. Last year, when the rating went down to 1 star, it was because Charity Navigator implemented a new policy to re-classify direct mail costs 100% to fundraising. All nonprofits allocate a percentage of the direct mail costs to education (programs) and fundraising. However, when this amount was reallocated by Charity Navigator, it resulted in a 1 star rating according to their formula. This reclassification of costs had a big impact on LCA because we only bring in approx. $1-1.5 million a year in donations. For larger organizations that raise millions per year, this amount did not change their rating. We are working to getting a 4 star rating on Charity Navigator. Their rating system is very complex; you can read about it on their site. If you have any further comments or questions, please let me know. This charity has an impressive record of achievement of specific humanitarian goals. "More bang for the buck!" We found it worth a trial donation in spite of a one-star rating. They report vigorous investigative pursuit of non-human animal abusers.
