A wonderful charity, interested only in helping sick children and their families. Please do anything you can to support them!
I was introduced to Kids Beating Cancer a few years ago by some friends. This is such an amazing charity that supports and helps children and families in need of financial assistance to help pay for medical bills, insurance co-pays and tests needed before Medicaid will pay their child's transplant.
KBC is a wonderful charity who does so much for the kids and families in need! It was wonderful working with them
Most amazing charity I have ever been a part of! Great CEO, amazing board and the kids are beyond unbelievable!
My wife worked on their main fundraiser this year and after every meeting or event would be completely moved by the depth of sincerity and dedication the board has to the families they serve. There is no way to come away from attending the Hats and Heroes Ball without being moved and supporting the groups work.
It goes without saying that the cause is worthy, but what really stands out about KBC is the commitment those working with the charity have to making a difference every single day. It is not just about an event, a fundraiser or exposure. It is evident that everything they do on a daily basis is to further the mission and work towards the day when every child wins their battle.
I am honored to be involved with this charity and its leadership. Its professionalism and impact on the community, is why I am so committed. I have witnessed the children whose lives have been given the hope of a cure, the comfort this charity brought to the families. Removing the financial burdens on the families and the barriers to care by funding treatments not covered by insurance. Five star charity for sure!
As a volunteer at KBC, I have seen how everyone works together to inform the Central Florida community about these children and their families going through unfortunate events in their lives. Im so glad the Central Florida area has an organization like KBC to give these families hope and faith by working together as a community and showing them that the community does care. My favorite volunteering project was the "My Room Program" to cheer up the little ones and make their transplant process a lot smoother by decorating their room to their preference like Kiera and her "Frozen" themed room!
I've volunteered for many non-profit organizations and KBC is one of the greatest. The CEO is not only inspiring, but she educates others on awareness on childhood cancer, and other life threatening diseases and taught me the struggles and many challenges that are faced throughout the treatment process for not only the child with the diagnosis, but for the families as well. This organization also directly impacts children like, giving them support throughout the treatment process, and even after the treatment process.
As a volunteer, I have seen first hand how much everyone at KBC truly cares about what they are doing and who they are helping. It is a group of the most genuine people and I am so happy I was able to get involved! I am so glad the Orlando area has an awesome organization like Kids Beating Cancer!
I started supporting this organization as a volunteer. I learned about this organization from a friend and being a cancer survivor myself, I wanted to give back. The more I got involved and began to understand how they help the children with cancer and other diseases, I dropped all my other charity work and give my time to this organization. Their focus on helping the children and their families is amazing.
When I first found about this charity I was very eager to get involved. Soon after I began volunteering I was treated badly by the woman in charge. She was so rude to all of the volunters and acted like she was better than us. One of the other volunteers was crying because she yelled at her.
Kids Beating Cancer treasures all the volunteers who have graciously donated their time and talents over the past 22 years, and honors them for their service and selflessness. I have never seen any director, or employee ever treat a volunteer, or volunteers as you have described, just the opposite. I have never seen the director yell at anyone, again just the opposite. I am sadden you did not experience all the amazing work Kids Betaing Cancer has done for so many families and enjoy volunteering for this great organization. Maybe you have your charity experience confused with another group.
Back in 2010 my children were diagnosed with a blood disorder called adrenoleukodystrophy. it is a very rare disorder of the blood and can be fatal if not treated early enough in the stage. Out of the 3 boys that I adopted, 2 passed away from the disorder. Kids beating cancer has been so awesome and gives the most sincere concern for each child. I have been blessed to have them come into the lives of my children. Even after their stem cell transplant, they still check on my son to make sure everyone is doing okay. They have events in honor of the recipients and make the children feel so special. I would not know what to do in these hard times if it wasn't for Kids Beating Cancer society. It has made such a tremendouse difference in our lives and many others. I wish there was some way that I can repay them but they have done so much I could never begin to start, so what I do I make myself available to attend the functions to show my appreciation for all their efforts.
Thanks Kids Beating Cancer and Cecelia who does all the outsourcing to get in touch with the parents..the entire staff is amazing and We truly love them all.
Thanks the Jones family Tyveon Jones, Tyanna Jones and Mama Gail (Felecia Peete)
KBC does a fantastic job of bringing awareness to pediatric cancer and blood disorders in our community. They offer help to families who need stem cell transplants and promote the BE the Match program. I am so grateful for all their help during my daughter's cancer journey. They have given her so much joy during a very scary part of her life.
Kids Beating Cancer has been the best organization I have dealt with since my daughter was diagnosised in 3/2008. We were introduced to Kids Beating Cancer by a friend and we have attended both the Easter and Christmas functions. K. B. C. events have given us the opportunity to meet and share with other families from across the state who are battling cancer. The staff and volunteers seem genuinely interested in each and every kid and they do their utmost to make the kids feel IMPORTANT and special. I am so impressed and grateful for their intiatives to bring awareness and donors to the bone marrow program. Their Holiday (Christmas)event is moving. Seeing all the kids enjoying a party where they can be themselcves is uplifting and the lighting of the candle tree is inspirational!!!! K. B. C. gave my daughter her first bike at this event and she was thrilled. It warms my heart to think of all the joy they bring to famlies. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Kids Beating Cancer!
I was drawn to Margaret's story as I, too, lost one of my children to leukemia... Helping & supporting other kids & their families with cancer, has helped me to move forward... The compassion & genuine desire of this charity to make a difference in these children's lives, is what giving back is all about! Kids Beating Cancer, is my #1 charity of choice!
I was a volunteer for Kids Beating Cancer through a business class at UCF. I did not realize how much working with this organization would change my life. Through this experience, we gained an extreme understanding of what the Kids Beating Cancer organization does for the children within the treatment center. It is amazing what they do to try and help these children and families financially and make everyday easier. I got the liberty of being able to see the treatment center. It is beautiful, clean, and perfect for making kids feel welcome within the unit. I was able to meet Margaret, Cicilia and Dyan. I personally worked a lot with Dyan and Cici, who I was honored to work with. My team Guardian Knights and I were in charge of helping and raising donations for their annual Fall/Halloween Party. I actually got to spend some time with the children who have or were receiving treatment. These kids were STUNNING, these children, their siblings, and their families were a joy to be around. I fell in love with some of the kids I was able to interact with and get to know. This organization is incredible and is truly there for these kids and their families. They do everything is their power to help out and make the process as smooth as possible!!
I have been aware of this organization for about 2 years. Everyone I have met is sincerely dedicated to the cause of helping children (and their families) with cancer. They will have my continued support.
We are new to this organization but they have exceeded our expectations. Everyone I have ever spoke with has been helpful and pleasant. They are sincere about helping kids and their families! Thank you KBC :)
Kids Beating Cancer gives kids hope. When we are in treatment during the holidays they come through with presents for the kids and the siblings and they throw great events always thinking about the kids that are in need.
Volunteering with Kids Beating Cancer has truly been an incredible experience. This organization is phenomenal and gives children and their parents hope when everything is going against them. Not only do they raise funds for transplants for children they also go into the hospital and decorate the rooms for the children based on their desired characters. It is truly a blessing to be able to work with such an amazing organization.
When my son was diagnosed with CML in 2007 and we were told he needed a bone marrow transplant I didn't know where to turn. I contacted Kids Beating Cancer and spoke to Adele. Insurance wouldn't pay for family and friends to be tested as a potential match for Matty. KBC set up donor drives for family and friends to be tested. Not only for Matthew, but any child needing a life saving bone marrow transplant. We are very honored to be part of the Kids Beating Cancer family. Margaret, Adele, Cecelia and all the people at KBC work hard every day for children needing a bone marrow transplant. I can never thank them enough for what they have done for Matthew and our family.
We have been a part of Kids Beating Cancer for several years, starting with attending an American Girl Fashion Show & Fashion Show held as a fundraiser, and later by participating in the show. My children got involved recently by helping design a room for a future patient at the Florida Hospital Transplant Unit. As a family we chose to decorate with a "Toy Story" theme. How wonderful to get a 6, 9, and 11 year old thinking of other children with this horrible disease! Margaret and the ladies of KBC are passionate about curing cancer in children. We have been blessed beyond measure by doing our very small part in helping the cause of Kids Beating Cancer!
This is a most amazing charity. To be a part of the organization is to be moved by all the children/families lives that are being helped. Vaolunteering is a truly life enriching experience.
I am always amazed when I hear Margaret tell the story of her son’s battle with cancer, and how the loss of her beautiful son became her inspiration for helping other kids get life-saving treatment, without delay and without separating families. Margaret and her Kids Beating Cancer team have accomplished so much for children over the past twenty years and, in doing so, keep costs very low so that almost every dollar raised goes toward making children well. At first, I thought that seeing the children and hearing their stories of battling life-threatening illnesses would be difficult to handle. On the contrary, it is so inspiring and humbling to witness the spirit and courage these kids display while fighting for their lives. They are all little heroes!
As both a non-profit professional and advisory board member of KBC, plus a former critical care nurse I feel uniquely qualified to provide the highest recommendation for Kids Beating Cancer. I met the founder, Margaret Guedes over 10 years ago as she passionately described the goals, and missionn of KBC. I asked if she was a nurse or a mother of a child with cancer, and she told me she was the mother of a child who had died of cancer. I attend a luncheon in spring 2012 and learned that Margaret's dream and the long term goal of having children treated in Orlando was about to become a reality with the opening of the Kids Beating Cancer transplant unit at Florida Hospital. After her 20 years of hard work, and watching and learning from Margaret for the past 10 years, I nominated Margaret for the Lifetime Achievement Award for the Central Florida Association of Fundraising Professionals and she won this prestigious award. Margaret will be awarded this honor in November in Orlando in front of 500 community leaders.
As a non-profit professional and RN, I have had to pleasureto know and work with Margaret Guedes and Kids Beating Cancer for nine years. The moment I met Margaret and learned about her son John and why she formed Kids Beating Cancer, I knew she would impact many lives with her courage and strength. This organization was born out of her love for son but her desire to save lives and help other families dealing with leukemia and other cancers is what keeps the organization going strong. I have seen children and their families who received a bone marrow transplant that would not have been possilble without Kids Beating Cancer and the dedicated work of Margaret Guedes in honor of John.
Review from Guidestar
kids beating cancer helped me and my son a lot to go throught his fight with AML Leukemia in the past 6 month, best organizatgion and Maragret have been a true leader and friend.
As a volunteer with Kids Beating Cancer, it is a privilege and honor to be be able to assist through marrow drives and more to do my part to help save a life of a young person. Kudos to Adele and the rest of the organization in all of their efforts and passion.
Working with Adele Doctor and Kids Beating Cancer in Orlando, Florida has been such a rewarding experience. Kids Beating Cancer, is such a motivating and inspiring organization to volunteer for. When people ask what am I doing this summer, I gladly reply "helping kids beat cancer!"
I have volunteered for Kids Beating Cancer for a few years now, Adele and Cecelia are great organizers and you really feel like you're contributing to a great cause when working with them. The Christmas Party is my favorite event, because you can see the happiness and pure joy on the children's faces when they meet Santa and receive gifts. I appreciate the hard work and effort these ladies provide, and look forward to helping out more in the future.
Kids beating cancer is a wonderful organization. Adele and Celilia are two great people you would ever meet. They are so wonderful to my daughter. Thank you for always keeping us in mind on the wonderful events that you have. My daughter has so much fun. Thank you Kids Beating Cancer - you have the biggest hearts!
Well there aren't many women like the ones I have the pleasure of working with every year around the holidays. My family volunteers with Kids Beating Cancer every Christmas for their annual celebration and every year we take home something special. Nothing material, but sentimental value that is priceless. Year around the ladies of KBC are out in the community raising awareness and recruiting donors for the national marrow registry. Not only that, but they are building bonds and changing lives of families that are affected by various health conditions. I am constantly inspired by their dedication and selfless commitment.
Little did I know, what a life changing impact this organization would leave on my life. I started volunteering and as soon as I could step into the office, I realized the lives that I would help to be saving. This is a great non profit organization, and doing so with little help. I am gale to have ever worked with them.
