Mission: The mission of Just Our Soldiers’ Helpers Inc., also known as J.O.S.H., is to increase the morale of deployed US service members from all branches of the military. We support our troops by preparing and shipping care packages consisting of snacks or hygiene products. We want our heroes to know we stand with them and they have not been forgotten.

Results: From the end of 2010 through the end of 2018, J.O.S.H. had shipped over 75,000 pounds of food and hygiene items to locations in Afghanistan, Iraq, Horn of Africa, Syria, and many other overseas locations where our troops have limited or no access to a PX. Each year we have increased the number of care packages we have shipped while keeping administrative costs as low as possible. We want our donors and supporters to feel confident that their assistance is benefiting the troops who serve our country.

Target demographics: Support US troops who are deployed to remote overseas locations

Direct beneficiaries per year: In 2018, we shipped 1,545 high quality care packages,. As of the end of 2018, we had shipped over 75,400 pounds of food and hygiene items.

Geographic areas served: Just Our Soldiers' Helpers or J.O.S.H. is a volunteer led and operated nonprofit organization located in Lake Mary, FL. We support US Service Members from all branches of the military who are deployed from all over the United States.

Programs: We support our troops by preparing and shipping care packages consisting of snacks or full size name brand hygiene products. We want to increase their morale by letting our heroes know we stand with them and they have not been forgotten. We specifically like to support U.S. service members who do not have access to a PX and those who might not otherwise receive mail from home.

I'm a teacher and for a class community service project we collect items to send to soldiers. We have also had "packing parties" (otherwise known as the night we pack boxes!) For the last three years we have been able to help JOSH send a few hundred care packages! Kathy Hewitt (founder) gave us guidelines and made it easy to work with her to accomplish so much for those deployed. I plan on continuing each semester to work with her and her organization. JOSH has given my students a window to the world and the encouragement to think beyond themselves. It also has helped us to express appreciation to those who put themselves on the line for our freedoms.

J.O.S.H. is first and foremost one of the best nonprofit organization out there who offer love and support to our deployed military men & women. For those who are unfamiliar with deployment, imagine this if u will...minimum 3-6 months away from your home, family, children, spouse/partner...not to mention the LUXURIES of modern society; hot meals, cold drinks, restrooms, showers, restaurants and the cushy warmth of your bed at night...these are sometimes nonexistent for our soldiers. In the some of the words made famous by Jack Nicholson. . .Everyone in America who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom they provide should offer themselves to help out and J.O.S.H has taken that challenge and has our 'SIX'. With that said, I commend J.O.S.H. for their diligence and hard work they provide to our soldiers. U are heroes and as a Veteran am very proud of your efforts. Kudos...

My son was recently deployed to Afghanistan and JOSH was there for his unit. The soldiers received packages from this group of volunteers that had never met these soldiers. This is a group of true Americans trying to make life away from home better for our brave men and women in uniform. I plan on signing up to volunteer with them myself.

One of my dear friends is dating a soldier that just returned from deployment (Brian Pilarski). She was telling me that Brian was telling her how supportive and helpful this organization was to not only him personally, but the entire group of soldiers!! He told her how genuine their love and care was and how appreciative all the soldiers were. What a huge difference it can make having the support and love they were able to give!! THANK YOU!!!

As the child of a veteran who has suffered for many years with PTSD because of his service in Vietnam and the pathetic way he was welcomed home after the war, I know the impact that not having support at home can have on our soldiers. JOSH and its founder, Kathy, support the soldiers with tangible items and, most importantly, the intangible lines of love sent from home.

This organization happened because one person wanted to take care of her nephew while he was deployed overseas...Since then, it has blossomed into an organization that takes care of everyone deployed overseas... Started with the greatest intentions and blossomed into an organization that now helps every, single soldier that they can....The organizer is so truly humble....It took time for her to realize that what she was trying to do was bigger than her, and bigger than her budget...but she still did it...and she still does it....this is an organization and a program that everyone can and should support....

I have personally seen the good and have been told by many just how important and helpful Just Our Soldiers Helpers have been to our troops. I can't say enough about the founders and volunteers that put the amount of time and effort in they do to put a smile on the face and a little humanity back into some of or nations hero's. If the scale went to 10, I'd give them 10 stars!

This is one of the best organizations. The founder, Kathy, takes nothing from J.O.S.H. Every penny goes to providing personal hygiene items, snack foods, books and magazines to military personal who are serving away from their families. Kathy and her volunteers are true Patriots.

J.O.S.H. is a great organization. I am with the Florida National Guard 1-265th ADA currently deployed to Afghanistan in support of operations there. During our deployment J.O.S.H. has sent numerous care packages to members of our unit. Although we are on an Airbase with amenities and PX facilities there were times when they ran out of everything from basic food and drinks to hygiene items for weeks if not longer. The care packages provided us with snacks to break up the monotony of the redundant chow hall food. Aside from that just getting packages is a real morale boost when you are away from home and the conveniences we are used to. Kathy is wonderful. I maintained contact with her all the time whether it be her asking if we needed anything in particular, or just to chat about things in general. She is very passionate and a wonderful person. J.O.S.H. is a wonderful and worthwhile cause. I plan on volunteering once I return home.

We have been involved with JOSH for a few years now- and have always been overwhelmed with the heartfelt dedication Kathy and her family have for our troops. We've been happy to donate our time as well as our money and/or items to this organization, because we know ALL of it is going to a great cause. If you are looking for a good organization to donate to, I can't recommend JOSH enough. You can rest assure that your donation will be treated with gratitude, and will be sent with love directly to those who need it most.

I came across the J.O.S.H organization when I was doing volunteer work for another non-profit. After looking into it further I was able to meet the Chairman, because she was also helping with the same non-profit I was volunteering for. I have the upmost respect and admiration for the chairman. I haven't found that many people that have as much integrity as she does.

I have been involved with JOSH since 2012. I'm a retired law enforcement officer and a US Army veteran. I am the founder of a non-profit Motorcycle club that supports the causes of active and retired military and emergency first responders. Our club chose to support JOSH and holds an annual fundraiser. JOSH is a wonderful organization. The founder of JOSH is passionate, committed and dedicated to the cause. Her sometimes daily updates from the field as provided by the military members she has shipped "care" packages to are a testament to her devotion to our troops abroad. I could not be more proud to be associated with this organization.

I have 2 sons in Afghanistan and Kathy has sent not only them, but some roommates goody boxes that are full of "the good stuff" as my one son told me. He said the men get all excited when they see Kathy's boxes arrive. I know that she and Dennis realize the good they are doing - it boosts morale which is badly needed as a lot of these soldiers have never been away from home before and get so homesick and lonely. Anything from home means so much to them. I thank Kathy and Dennis from the bottom of my heart for all they continue to do for the men and women overseas serving their country away from family and friends. You guys are the best.

Just Our Soldiers Helpers started with meek beginnings, but through the persistence and love of Kathy...it has grown and grown. Her endless care and dedication to our soldiers is nothing less than amazing. What JOSH does for our soldiers is selfless and admirable. I know that my time and donations are going where they need to go...to our heroes overseas! Whenever anyone asks about a charity to donate to, this is the one I brag about...without it, many soldiers would go without and feel abandoned by the country they are fighting to protect. JOSH is everything and more! Thank you Kathy for your selfless dedication to our armed forces and your persistence in finding those soldiers in need. You and your organization are nothing short of phenomenal!

I was first contacted by Just Our Soldiers Helpers (J.O.S.H.) in 2011, while serving a tour in Afghanistan. I didn't know how dedicated to soldiers they were at that time, but I soon learned. This organization has sent care packages ranging from necessity items, such as toothpaste, shaving equipment, and shower gel to morale items, such as candy, magazines, and notepads. I learned quickly that, if they could accommodate a want or need, then they would. In 2013, I was again serving in Afghanistan, and Kathy Hewitt, a wonderful woman within this organization, who had kept in contact with me during my time stateside, started sending me care packages again and asked for any other names of soldiers who might want to receive them as well. J.O.S.H. once again outdid themselves and all who received packages were grateful. I am once again deployed to a foreign country, Kathy and J.O.S.H. were immediately ready to send care packages. These people within this organization, work tirelessly and selflessly to ensure that the troops do not go wanting for items or for care. These people truly care. I know how much they care and especially Kathy, because even when I am not deployed, Kathy still checks in on me and makes sure that I am well. She even set up a fishing trip with a neighbor of hers, two wonderful people who invited me into their home and showed me a great weekend. I also met Kathy that weekend, and she is just as caring in person as she is in this organization. Every soldier does what they do because we love our country and want to see it thrive. J.O.S.H. does what they do because they love their country and those that serve to protect it. I know soldiers on deployment that would have never received any care packages had it not been for the great people within J.O.S.H and the people that donate to this organization. I am thankful to them and hope they can continue this service for future deployments, not only for myself but for the thousands of other soldiers who are deployed around the world. Thank you to the donors and the personnel at Just Our Soldiers Helpers.

Respectfully,
David D. Gray III, SGT

I can not begin to say enough about this organization. I have worked with Just Our Soldiers' Helpers over the last two years and come to understand just what JOSH is about. It's about taking care of our own while they are fighting to keep our freedom available to us. It's about sending a little piece of home to our soldiers, displaying our thanks for their service. With several of the letters that I have read from our troops abroad, a little package brings smiles to their faces and warmth to their hearts. Kathy, who founded JOSH, is a volunteer just like the rest of us. There is no high priced salaries. All are paid the same.. $0.00. I will continue to support this charity in every way possible.

We have donated to this wonderful organization that sends a piece of home to our service men and women. I love reading and seeing pictures of the difference it makes in their day when they receive a package that shows we appreciate their sacrifices and the have not been forgotten. J.O.S.H. was created from the heart and touches the heart of our service men and women. This will continue to be my charity if choice to donate to. Keep up the great work J.O.S.H. You make a difference everyday!

This nonprofit organization is by far one of the most loving and caring groups ever formed. The founder of this organization has a such a love and devotion to serve those who put their lives on the line for our freedom. She does a fantastic job in showing her appreciation to all branches of the service for all they give up for all of us by sending packages to help brighten their day!

As a Donor to JOSH, I've always believed highly in the work that they do and have enjoyed hearing about all the positive things that continue to be accomplished. But it wasn't until a friend of mine was recently deployed to Afghanistan that it really hit home as to the good that they do. I reached out to JOSH and told them about my friend, a female soldier, who was recently deployed. Immediately JOSH put my dear friend on the package distribution list. Getting messages from my soldier friend, and hearing about how much receiving JOSH packages simply brightens her days, just means the world to me, I know to her as well. Thank you JOSH for all that you do for our well deserved soldiers!

JOSH shipped care packages to my husband while he was stationed in Afghanistan. Kathy went above and beyond to include things that she knew he would like, and that others in his unit could use.

Although JOSH operates out of Florida, they are collecting items and donations for Soldiers nation wide, and shipping them off to our Soldiers world wide. Their hearts are in the mission, and they support our men and women in every way they can.

I know when I donate to J.O.S.H that it is going to make a US soldier happy somewhere in the world. The founder of this organization is an incredible woman that took something small and without hesitation kept it growing when she saw the need. This is our charity of choice and will continue supporting it until one day with the grace of God we will not need to anymore and all of our Soldiers will be home safe and sound.

J.O.S.H. is a nonprofit created from the heart that shows our service men and women every day that they are not forgotten. The original idea was to support a loved one who was deployed but it continues to grow and reach so many others. Have you every had a really bad day and then out of the blue a stranger shows you kindness that just makes your day? Now, think of a service person deployed to a faraway war zone, probably a bit lonely, maybe feeling forgotten and unappreciated...then surprise! they get a care package that shows them that they are valued. That's J.O.S.H! If you want to know that your contributions are making a difference, give to J.O.S.H.

I have the great pleasure to be apart of JOSH and enjoy every minute of it. I am so happy to help with donations, packing boxes to ship or volunteer at all the different fundraisers. I have so many amazing people and have made friends at everyone of them. When you see the joy in pictures that the soldiers send home thanking us for what we do it really touches your heart knowing they appreciate it when it is me that appreciates them. I have served on the board, am a volunteer and could not think be happier with the choice I made to spend my time helping JOSH. Bless our troops and God speed.
