I was in somewhat of an emergency situation and could not get help from the military. Other non-profits and the VA would not help because I was still active duty. H4H put a lot of effort into me; they really care. With other service dog non-profits, there were so many rules about who you were, what kind of dogs they would train, or how often you had to go for training that made it impossible for me to get help. H4H is different. They were very flexible and obviously concerned about me getting help over everything else. They took the time to learn what I was looking for in a dog and matched me with the perfect 4-legged battle buddy, but it didn't stop there. I also gained several 2-legged friends as they keep in touch with me. Since getting my service dog, I've been able to get help from them about training, service dog laws, dog health, or just talk when I needed to. I don't know how they do it. They're such a small organization yet those that work there seem to do the work of 10 men so you wouldn't even notice. They work really hard to make limited funds help as many vets as they can find. I highly recommend using and donating to this organization.
Hello. My name is Susan. My husband was severely wounded in Iraq when he was ambushed by Iraqi soldiers dressed in civilian clothing. His Humvee was hit by a wire guided missile that blew him out of the vehicle. It has been a very VERY long, hard road for my husband and our entire family. Healing 4 Heroes has helped my husband become more independent. A lot more independent! He smiles more, and able to do things that he wouldn't do before Healing 4 Heroes. Matching him with Zeus, his service dog has been a true blessing. Our entire family is so thankful for Healing 4 Heroes! Life is good!
I can't properly put into words what H4H has done for my family, but here's my feeble attempt.
My husband is a Paralyzed combat vet, and my oldest son has Autism Spectrum Disorder, Tourette's Syndrome, and a plethora of other diagnoses. For 11 years I have had to be hyper vigilant to everything around us. I had to anticipate every trigger, every anxiety, anything and everything that might be problematic for them.
Long story short, I don't have to be so hyper aware anymore. It's only because of God and H4H that I can just be mom to all four of my children and wife to my husband.
What does H4H mean to our family? Everything. They gave me my husband back, they gave my children their father back, and they gave my son the tools and confidence he needs to navigate this big, scary world full of social interactions. They gave us a new leae on life named Augustus and Maxwell.
One of the things that sets H4h apart is that they don't just heal the hero. They heal the family unit as a whole. Also, They don't limit their service to post 911 vets. They give Vietnam vets the reception and acceptance that they should have been given when they came home. They also help spouses and children of vets. Many organizations do not extend to the family the way H4H does.
Piper, Suzanne, and those involved with H4H are the real heroes. They gave this Army wife and Autism mom a chance to see her soldiers thrive rather than survive. During the last class of the week, my son said to me "mom, I went to war with Autism and I won!" I think that pretty much sums it all up for me.
God has blessed this organization and He is doing micraculous work through these beautiful women who have so selflessly answered His call.
I was lucky to find out about this group and become a member. They do amazing things for us.
I am a disabled Veteran and I have a 4 year old daughter, Lily. We are currently in a training class with Healing4Heroes. I am unable to put into words how I feel right now about working with Healing4Heroes and how it is changing my life for the better.
My daughter and I have had a rough time the last 2 years but particularly 2016. I have mental and physical disabilities. I have reached out for help from non-profit organizations where I live in South Carolina. I have found they claim to help Veterans, but when you call sobbing on the phone because you have no food or home, they can't help you and have a list of various reasons why. The VA Hospital and other Veteran service organizations want you to really believe the phrase "no Veteran left behind", but Lily and I were left behind. No one cared that Lily and I ended up in a homeless shelter where the Veterans were targets of abuse. No one cared that I had to crawl to pick up my daughter's toys because I was in so much pain and couldn't get up.
In any event, everything changed when I found Healing4Heroes and Piper. The love and support from Piper, the trainers, and other Veterans is too sacred for words. Their patience, guidance, and dedication is tailored to the needs of each individual. It is positively overwhelming and makes me tear up.
I want to thank Piper for her strength and love. She is the founder of Healing4Heroes and involved in every aspect to ensure that Veterans and not "left behind". My training and journey does not end when I finish class and I know Healing4Heroes will be there for me every step of the way.
God bless you Piper!

Healing4heros is a wonderful program. They went above and beyond to help me and my family. Put me and my wife through great trading and match us with great dogs who work together. Just in the little time we have been with them has helped me and my wife. Can't wait to continue my journey and. Friendships with them and al the Veterans they have helped
The Army separated me from my family for nearly a year as they prepared to medically retire me. The only thing was they were not willing to properly prepare me for the transition.
With an inadequate wheelchair that was falling apart, my mobility was extremely limited. I had owned dogs in the past and new how loyal they were to their owner, but I was not prepared for what happened when H4H came into my life.
Augustus was so much like me. In fact he revealed to me a lot about me that I either did not know or did not want to admit about myself. I owe Piper and H4H my life. They were there for me when the Army I devoted my life to wasn't.
My life had evolved to a point where there were only a few places that I would actually go to by myself. Once I paired up with my dog (Knocks), things changed. I've been able to get out into the world again. That totally beats pacing around my apartment hating myself. LOL
Healing4Heroes have been great! I had been on the waiting list with 2 other oranizations when I discovered H4H. When I called, I spoke to Piper. After talking with her a bit about my situation and what I would like in a service animal. Then basically, she asked if could manage to get into their next class. That she had a dog she thought might work for me.
When I got to the program everyone was tremendously friendly. Very easy to be with making a nervous situation down a notch. They knew what we were about, they knew what veterans need. The dog Piper thought was good match turned out to be perfect. We paired instantly!! He has been by my side ever since. He got me out!!
I am forever grateful to H4H!! They know veterans.
H4h saves lives of vets with ptsd with service dogs. I have witnessed the dedication and success over the last 5. years. This group gives hope to those who most need it.
This nonprofit is amazing. I'm a vet lucky enough to get involved with them, it's helping more than I ever thought anything would. PTSD is scary and being able to be around others and working with your dog gives you so much hope.
The members of this organization are truly amazing. The founder puts in countless hours of hard work into every part of Healing 4 Heroes to make sure everything is executed flawlessly. The head trainer never gives up on any dog and really puts in the time and effort to training each service dog no matter the dog's past experience or situation. The rest of the volunteers and foster parents have a heart of gold for taking care of each dog.
This organization makes a change in countless lives. Our family couldn't thank everyone enough. Thank you guys for everything!
Amazing organization helping all veterans no matter when that person served.
I am part of a dog rescue group that has worked with H4H. They are such an incredible organization that works hard to meet the needs veterans needing a little help blending back into society. By using rescue dogs, they are saving two lives. I have witnessed this on more than one occasion. They provide the dogs, training, and lodging to make much needed service dogs available to our heroes. I can't say enough good things about H4H.
My husband came across this amazing organization last year and was accepted. My husband was anxious and excited to attend, he had many questions but they were quickly answered with personal calls or emails to prepare him weeks before his class date to help him with any accommodations that he may have or difficulties that he needed assistance with. After the extensive pairing and training with his "battle" during the program, he came home with Mack. I, as the wife, did not know what to expect and Mack has surprised me at every turn. I owe my thanks to the organization as whole but the staff that work within deserve many individual thanks as well for what they do. The people that go to rescue groups to get the dogs that would be good service dog, the foster families, the trainers the give the dogs the head start, to people that pair the veterans with the dogs, the trainers the continue the training with the vets long after they are given the dogs, and all the donator that make it happen for the veterans to be able to receive a service dog. The founder that makes all this happen...She is the most selfless person of them all, she take calls and emails no matter where she is, what time, or what she is doing. She has her own life and family trials yet she puts all that aside for her veterans and veterans families (this includes the veteran's Battles) This is amazing!
My husband just returned from a mini weekend class that was offered and said it was very helpful to not only him but to Mack as well.
H4H believes in helping our nation's heroes, not just in a moment but over a lifetime, H4H has continued to be there long after the dust has settled of having a service dog in the home, helping work the kink in the system while in our home and at the mini sessions that are offered. They are another support system there for us veterans. H4H is founded by a veteran for veterans.
Found this amazing foundation online. Filled out the application and heard back the next day. Everything they do is thought out with the Veterans as the priority. You will never meet a more loving, professional and hard working group of patriots that love there vets.
I revived my service dog Nellie through H4H in Febuary 2016, H4H has brought me the help I needed and providing constant support through phone, email, 1 on 1.... The training that is done is so amazing I could not have asked for a better group to help me along my journey
Thank you H4H for all you do. I was in a bad place in my life when I met you all 2 years ago. Thanks to you and my wonderful "Battle Buddy" Danni my life and my ability to love again have been restored. She is amazing. You guys are amazing. Keep up the good work. God bless you.
Healing 4 Heroes is an amazing non profit who has brought hope to the veteran community. By being veterans themselves we were able to relate to them and they understood what we were going through. My husband and I are both Marine Corps Veterans diagnosed with PTSD,TBI and other physical disabilities. The VA had prescribed us a lot of over the counter medication which was having very bad side effects. We kept on being prescribed medication after medication with no other type of treatment. We knew we needed a change, and that is when I found Healing 4 Heroes. They were able to give me a form of medication no one else could. I become more at ease and comfortable in everyday life. They are an amazing non profit with love for veterans like no other.
A very friendly organization that has been right there to answer all my questions and give encouragement when needed. I can't say enough about the volunteers there, and how they go out of their way for not only the people in need, but also the dogs.
I've seen some very broken young people start a process of healing with this group. I've watched 100s of tattered men & women walk through our hotel to begin training. By the end of the classes, they walk out looking much different. They are taller, seem stronger & definitely more confident. They deserve the help. They had the courage to sign their names on that dotted line. We should do everything in our power to help them heal. Many kudos to this small group of ladies, and a few men, as I've seen them bend over backwards to help the veterans they adore.
Great people doing amazing things for veterans, most of which have given up hope in life.
