We have been involved with GALT for nearly 15 years as volunteers and our most rewarding role as a foster family. We thoroughly enjoy the community created by this organization. The group rallies whenever there's a need! We ensure every greyhound, or sighthound, that comes into our fold gets the attention they require. Nothing gives us more satisfaction than to foster a greyhound to get them ready for their forever home and then use our revolving door of love to help another.

I was one of the first volunteers with GALT and I chose to volunteer with them because of their beliefs, compassion and mission. I am still just as impressed with GALT now as I was day one. They go above and beyond on the care they give the greyhounds regardless of the medical costs one may incur.

GALT is GREYT and I will be a supporter of theirs as long as we are all around!

I don't know if I'm really permitted to write a review, but here goes. I'm the "house dog." I've trained countless foster dogs for GALT. i've helped teach them to walk nicely on a lead, to jump into the car, to enjoy yogurt and fruit and vegies, to run in after the dinner bathroom break so that we could be brushed and get the special treat of the day, to enjoy "treasure hunts" of kibble scattered around the house when my people leave.
Since I am always the bottom of the pack, it is most definitely my job to teach the foster houndies to play and romp. I've been through a lot of them. Some I miss more than others. What I know, though, is that we all get treated the same, so those fosters with GALT really get to learn about the good life of retirement.

I adopted my first greyhound, Cabby, from GALT in early 2008. Cabby and GALT changed my life forever. After seeing what wonderful creatures greyhounds were I jumped in with both feet, started fostering and now I have 6 GALT greys of my very own. I can honestly say my life revolves around greyhounds!

GALT never turns away a greyhound in need, no matter how bad off they are. I have fostered a few that came to GALT very Ill, GALT always goes the extra mile to make sure that each grey in its possession is given the best care for its individual needs. Not only does GALT take in retired racing greys, they also open their doors to greyhound mixes, owner releases, ex-coyote hunting greys and strays. I am very proud to be a member of GALT and am sure to tell everyone I can about the fantastic work they do and how wonderful greyhounds are as pets!

GALT is one of the most amazing rescue groups I have ever come in contact with. They NEVER say no to any hound, be it abused, broken limbs, or lost and found. They have an outstanding bunch of volunteers as well as vets who take the best care of everything that comes their way. Superior care and concern in what they do so well.

GALT has shown it commitment to retired racing greyhounds through its actions. Its mandates to aid all greyhounds is admirable. GALT has shown over the years, that money is secondary to the well-being and health of a retired racing greyhound. Each and every greyhound receives the highest level of care regardless of its situation. For this GALT should be proud and duly recognized for its efforts.

GALT made our family complete with the addition of a hound. They all work so hard to keep the pups in good shape and going to good homes. If our house ever starts to feel a little too roomy we will add another GALT hound in a minute. Thanks to them for all their hard work!

I have such admiration and respect for GALT. This organization takes in greyhounds who need extensive medical care and they do it again and again, no matter the circumstances. Everything from one stray at a time, to whole groups of dogs taken from a hoarding situation. The fact is that volunteers, space, time and money are all stretched extremely thin when a group goes above and beyond this way. GALT deserve to be recognized as the amazing greyhound rescue group they are. They have saved so many greyhound lives and they adamately refuse to give up on even one of them. They are like angels to greyhounds in need.

There aren't enough words to express my deep appreciation and admiration for the amazing people at G.A.L.T. and the cause they work so hard to support. There is a dire need for Greyhound rescue, rehabilitation and education, and Greyhound Adoption League of Texas provides this service as a genuine labor of LOVE.

My family was recently introduced to GALT when we adopted a beautiful greyhound from them - a retired racer and recently retired brood momma. Words cannot express how amazing the experience has been from the beginning - and we have no intention of seeing an "end" to the relationship. We've had the pleasure of meeting countless GALT volunteers who work so diligently and selflessly to ensure that each and every greyhound is placed into the RIGHT forever home - not just ANY home - a "furever" home which will benefit ALL parties for the "greyter" good. To witness the lengths to which GALT goes to ensure each animal is made healthy, happy and SAFE is astounding. The fact that every foster parent gives SO MUCH of themselves - their time, their energy, their home and their heart is truly awe-inspiring. Such loving care is put into finding the right "match" for each hound by the foster parents and the administrative volunteers - it's an inspiring and heart warming process to go through and one that I will never forget.

Immediately following the adoption of our new and already beloved four-legged family member, we felt so compelled and moved by the efforts and cause supported by GALT, we immediately became donating members so that we could continue to support their amazing rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and educational efforts. We are SO PROUD to call ourselves "members" of this outstanding organization and even PROUDER to feel as though our time, monetary donations and love will help GALT to continue providing these amazing animals with medical care, foster care and ultimately the forever homes they so desperately need and deserve. The fact that they achieve all that they do SOLELY from the efforts of loving volunteers and from the support of charitable donations is difficult to wrap my head around - I pray that they continue to find the support they so desperately need which enables them to continue this greyt and desperately-needed work.

Without GALT, it's unfathomable what would become of these animals. It's even more unimaginable what our family would be like, had we not found Greyhound Adoption League of Texas - their selfless and unyielding efforts brought us together with our beautiful new family member, Simone, and for this we will be forever supportive and eternally greytful.

Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is one of the very best humane, adoption agencies in the US. Greyhounds deserve the best homes and treatments and are the least likely to receive them. Too many are bred for racing and discarded. In GALT's ten years of operation they have provided medical care and homes for hundreds and hundreds of greys. Their fund raising for the greys is unceasing and their officers are untiring in their efforts.
I have a beautiful grey, Roxie, adopted from GALT. She is the light of my life and if I weren't 80 years old, I would adopt more. I love them. They are the most beautiful, sweet dogs and I am grateful to GALT.

GALT is such an incredible organization. My greyhound Olivia is such a joy, and GALT did an amazing job of making sure that I got to meet a ton of dogs and choose the perfect one. They also have a ton of activities for humans and dogs so we can all stay in touch. They are extremely well organized that make sure greyhounds are safe and well cared for, and they do their best to find foster homes for the dogs that are waiting for adoption. GALT is the best pet adoption organization I have seen or dealt with, and when I get a brother or sister for Olivia, they will come from GALT as well. Please check them out! They have a very good website as well!

I live in PA but I try to help adoption groups from all around the country. This organization is wonderful-they help greyhounds that are most in need of help without a second thought. Their volunteers work very hard to help find homes for retired racing greyhounds. My family currently has 3 greyhounds and I cannot say enough about how wonderful these dogs are! I have had the privledge of adopting greyhounds since 1994 and I am super impressed with this group. Please consider their more than worthwhile cause for while people donate to other causes, few people remember this vulnerable member of society--the retired racing greyhound which cannot speak for itself. Thank you in advance for your consideration!

GALT is the third greyhound adoption agency that my husband & I have had the pleasure of working with & adopting from. GALT is by far the most organized, caring, and active greyhound adoption organization. They come to the rescue of greyhounds in our area without hesitation! They organize many fund raisers as well as FUN RAISING activities that bond our members & benefit our hounds.
We are proud to be associated with GALT, it is a wonderful group of caring individuals who make a huge difference!!!

I do not live in Texas, but I had been told about a stray who would part greyhound and was in a shelter. This dog needed help. Contact with GALT was made and they instantly jumped and saved this part greyhound.
Many greyhound groups do not have the funds or time to help mixed greys. GALT did not stop to think, they just did what was right for the dog. GALT is a great rescue group!

We are foster greyhound parents and a happy adopter of a GALT greyhound. I think what we most appreciate about GALT is that GALT never turns away a greyhound because it might have expensive medical needs. Hounds get treated with whatever they need for as long as they need to be treated until they are healthy. We have had some very sick fosters, picked up as strays, who required multiple trips to the vet and expensive medicines, and GALT took care of those dogs. They are now in wonderful forever homes and living contented, safe, couch potato lives.

I never thought Greyhounds would make a good pet. Until I got to know them through GALT. These folks love their dogs and run a great organization working selflessly to serve the Greys and their adoptive people.

Through GALT, my opinion of Greyhouds and my trust of people has grown.

I have adopted two greyhounds through Greyhound Adoption League of Texas. The needs of the greyhounds and their placement as pets in loving, safe homes is paramount to this organization, and the volunteers are tireless. They will not refuse any greyhound in need, even driving long distances to pick up and deliver greyhounds, and they meet all the medical needs of any sick or injured greys. This past summer was their shiningest moment when they took in many greyhounds that had been seized in an animal cruelty case in Fort Worth, Texas. These hounds had no one to speak for them but GALT, and sadly some of therm did not survive their horrid treatment despite all GALT did for them. But the ones GALT has successfully placed in forever homes and foster homes are the ultimate success stories.

My husband is I are greyhound adopters. We have adopted 10 dogs now through Greyhound Adoption League of Texas. My husband is also a Veterinarian and I am the Hospital Administrator of his clinic. We work with many adoption organizations and none are as professional and well run as GALT. They are amazing with what they do for the dogs and the success they have in finding these amazing animals such good homes. We recommend them all the time and they should be a model on how to run an adoption organization. We can't say enough good things about them.

There is something about a Greyhound that provides us all a deeper spiritual connection to love and be loved. We are the forever home to two Greyhounds now; and our home will always have a Greyhound.
Adopting a Greyhound may not change the world, but it will change the world for you and your Greyhound.
GALT has a loving and supportive group of volunteers that want nothing but the best for every Greyhound brought into their care.
We fully suppor them with our time, talents, and resources.

My husband and I have been a foster home for GALTx almost since its inception. We have also volunteered in other capacties for them, such as transporting dogs to the vet, giving the incoming greys tlc, etc. The biggest thing I can say about this organization is that they will not turn an animal away, no matter if they have funds or the animal will require expensive medical care. It is all about the greyhounds, and they are each and every one given the care and love they need. This is an all volunteer group, and each person who volunteers with them, as well as potential adopters must fill out a form with background information. I can't say enough about the dedication of the leadership of this group. They are AAA rated.

In 2005 we adopted our first greyhound from the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) and over the years adopted four more. We have fostered several greyhounds and I have been GALT's greyhound photographer since 2006. I have taken photographs of hundreds of the greyhounds which GALT has taken into its family and adopted to their forever homes. GALT never turns away a greyhound in need. This was evidenced in July, 2010, when GALT took in 9 greyhounds found in deplorable condition by Fort Worth Animal Control Cruelty investigators. GALT has adopted over 1,600 greyhounds to their forever homes since its inception. The volunteers are very dedicated to do whatever is necessary to help the greyhound. GALT is an outstanding organization and I am proud to be a part of it.

My late husband and I were greyhound breeders. The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is the only adoption agency that we trusted to find great homes for our retired racers. We have sent them many dogs, and everyone is in a super home. I have been able to stay in contact with many of the current owners of our dogs. GALT greyhounds receive the absolute best medical care available. They are treated by the best specialists in the Dallas area. I used to work for a vet in the Waco area. She referred difficult cases to the same specialists that GALT uses. When my husband passed away, GALT sent their wonderful volunteers to pick up five of my greyhounds that I could not keep. I still have eight retired racers. I know without a doubt that if anythings happens to me, GALT volunteers would be here in a matter of hours to pick up my dogs. I simply cannot say enough good things about the Greyhound Adoption League of Texas.

I have nothing but good things to say about this organization. While I am not directly involved with the organization a close friend of mine is and I hear many stories of the things they do to better the lives of these animals. I am truly moved by the amount of love and dedication this organization has to any and all dogs. They go above and beyond!!!

The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas is an amazing organization. Tremendous amounts of love and care are given to each and every dog that comes into GALT's care. The GALT group does whatever is necessary for each dog received, whether it be medical care, special training, etc. I have been volunteering with this group for a little more than 6 months, and it's the best charity I've worked with so far! Communication is very open, and everyone I've worked with has been very helpful and kind. The love that's lavished upon the greyhounds is tangible. If a dog didn't experience much affection from their previous background, they quickly come to understand how loved they are when they are taken in by GALT.

I have been with GALT since the beginning. Everyone involved with this group are hard working and dedicated people and are first and foremost for the wonderful greyhounds. I have adopted and I have fostered. I have a broken leg foster now. I live in Austin so don't get to participate in alot of the activities although wish I could. John and Susie are wonderful and caring people. I hope to continue helping with this group for many years to come. Jo O'Donnell

I have been following GALT online since 2005. I am now a member and have recently adopted one of their greyhounds. GALT is amazing. No dog is too sick, too feeble, etc. for them to take. GALT does not put a dollar cap on what they will do to rehabilitate dogs. The dog I adopted cost GALT over $4500.
GALT is very active in the community with fund raising, meet and greets, etc. They truly care about greyhounds and want to educate the public on what wonderful dogs they are. Their Facebook page is great. They don't just simply post information about fund raising; they celebrate adoptions, post updates on dogs who are under medical care, and always respond to wall posts and comments from the public.

I've been involved with GALT for eight of it's ten years as a foster and have watched the organization grow both in membership and professionalism. Many of the greyhounds in our care require considerable medical treatment ranging from parasitic, bacterial and viral diseases to broken bones. We never turn away a greyhound in need.

GALT, along with six other groups, took the lead in accepting 9 of the 28 hounds confiscated by Fort Worth Animal Control this past summer. GALT is currently working with FWAC to arrange for greyhounds and other canines in dire need of medical help to be released during the required 72 hours of holding.
