I've been introduced to Glasswing by a personal friend and have had the opportunity to visit their office in SanSalvador 2 times in the last years and even join one of the staff members on a field trip visiting various schools in the greater metroplitan area /rural country. I can say, that I have seen the positive impact of Glasswing's work and I can say, that they keep their administrative cost to the necessary minimum and put their money in their projects (where it belongs). I have full trust in the executives and their staff and so does have my employer, Deutsche Post DHL, which have joined Glasswing in a couple of projects in Latin-America.
I was a full-time volunteer with Glasswing from September 2011 - March 2012, and I cannot recommend Glasswing highly enough. I worked extensively on the school makeover projects, helping students paint murals, plant flowers, and generally beautify their public school campuses. Having the opportunity to interact with the students was very rewarding, and seeing their passion for improving their schools was inspiring.
Additionally, collaborating with corporations to make these school makeovers happen was extremely beneficial as a means to not only improve the educational experience for the students but also to improve community engagement with public school education.
In addition, I was involved in their efforts to improve public health (distributing clay water filters in rural Coatepeque) and safety (running EMT and first responder certifications across the country), and can attest to the powerful impact Glasswing has on all of the communities they serve.
Working for six months with the organization was an incredible experience, and one that I would not only recommend highly, but am considering repeating in the future.
I spent over a year volunteering for Glasswing in a variety of roles ranging from teaching English and computing to high school students to half day home building projects. Glasswing has facilitated many opportunities to volunteer, making it easy for people to get involved in short and long term projects with various communities.
I started my experience in Glasswing El Salvador since june 2013 and it has been one of my best experiences in helping others so far. I started as an educator volunteer in english of students of 12 years old on public school, I attended every saturday for two hours. Sharing with them, singing, having fun and particularly transmiting them learning a new language is more than speaking but getting inmerse on a new world.
Since 2014 I change of club and started been an educator volunteer for a " girls club" and it has been a touching and rewarding experience. Helpping them in get to know each other, teaching values, gender topics, selfesteem, giving advices in personal security, and even becomeing their friend or confident.
Glasswing for me is my space, where little by little you become a change agent in small communities and most important leave a mark on children´s life.
My experience working as a volunteer with Glasswing - for several months on a variety projects ranging from school rehabilitations to community health interventions and educational support programs- was incredibly rewarding and beneficial- both for me as a volunteer and for the benefiting communities and individuals. Staffed by a passionate, professional, and innovative team dedicated to transparency and truly making a meaningful impact, Glasswing catalyzes positive change in a way I have not seen matched by any other volunteer program I have been a part of. The organizational focus on meeting real needs in a sustainable way and integrating volunteers and community members in programs leaves a lasting impact on all involved. Great organization!
My experience at Glasswing International as Volunter has been awesome, share with my kids and watch their smiles is the best. I recognize that everything worthy is free and everyone around the world can shine and light others life to live in a better world. Thank you Glasswing International fot letting me add my little action as volunter educator.
Working as a volunteer teacher at Glasswing has been one of the most enriching experiences in my entire life. It is so much more than a non-profit organization; to me, it has become like a second home. I've grown to care for the children I work with as little brothers or sisters. They have changed my life in the most amazing way possible; and I would also like to think that I am somehow changing theirs too. Glasswing gives us all a space where we can help each other achieve growth and maturity. I am very glad for its existence and so very proud of being a part of the amazing programs they manage.
I'm going to be honest, being a volunteer is exhausting!! but at the end of the day you realize that, what you have done, may change the future of your country, the future of the kids you (tried to) teach and the most important it has changed you. being part of this program it is exhausting but awesome!!!
Glasswing in El Salvador is more than an ONG its a place where kids can be kids again and forget all the problems they have at home, Glasswing gave them in every class a light of hope and a new oportunity to be a successful person, and for me it has made me more human, and it also give us the oportunity to make a little chance in they life.
Glasswing es una organización que nos permite compartir, crecer y vivir momentos increibles con los niños y niñas de nuestras escuelas publicas.
The Volunteer program of Glasswing International gave us the opportunity to expand our world. The fact we were able to know amazing kids in public schools is priceless.
This program is far from being only a benefit for the kids and their community, it is a tool to transforming ourselves and our lifestyle. I discovered that we can change the world, we only need to build a bridge from a fatalist context to a beautiful life. That bridge is volunteer work. Thanks Glasswing!
I was a Glasswing's volunteer a few months ago, and i loved it! They have a program where the volunteers can teach to public school kids, is wonderful to see how many kids go to learn, and how they love to learn, i really appreciate the help Glasswing is giving to my country by helping kids to avoid gangs and addictions providing this kind of classes where they can feel free to share their talents and abilities, so they can see their dreams can come true if they give their best effort .
I had the chance to participate in a volunteering activity organized by Glasswing in Guatemala. It was a wonderful experience, because we painted a mural to revitalize an old avenue in zone 11. The mural covers a public sports center and the graphics painted give the idea of all the family activities that can be practiced inside the center and on the streets. Glasswing had everything ready to paint, they played music and had t'shirts and beverages for everyone. I enjoyed the activity and I hope to stay in touch for other volunteering opportunities.
