i adopted my cat Yoda from FAF and then became a foster Mom volunteer, This organization is truly devoted to helping vulnerable kittens and cats be well and find forever homes.
I am proud to be a volunteer!
Friends of the Animals does some of the most needed and appreciated work there is (by critters and humans alike)!
All praise and good tidings to the rescuers of the world.
I adopted my cat, Piper, just over 4 years ago. FAF had rescued her, her siblings, and the mother-cat, from a rooftop in Burien. I will always be grateful to FAF for performing this rescue, thereby ensuring a long and happy life for Piper, her siblings, and her mother. Thank you for all that you do, FAF. The world is a better place with you all in it!
This organization is wonderful. They nurture and homes for our most vulnerable critters. I can't say enough good things about the work that they do!
They helped to take care of and place a momma cat that I had rescued. By the time I found them I had already found homes for all of the kittens. They still were able to meet with me to take the momma and get her fixed and everything else she needed. She was placed in a foster home until she went to the store and was found a forever home. I fully support their services and have recommended them to others.
I fostered for them for years and they worked so hard to rescue as many cats as possible. I was constantly amazed to their dedication to these animals. If I could I still would be fostering for them. My own cat Hermoine comes from fostering. I love her to death, one of the best cats I have ever met. All thanks to these guys! Please support them.
Since moving in to my old neighborhood, I started feeding a mama cat that was abandoned by a previous tenant at my apt. She was semi feral by the time I moved in. For years I fed her and every litter she had. If it hadn't been for MaryAnne from FAF, she would've continued having babies at an uncontrolled rate. MaryAnne got the mama & her adult babies fixed. And she rescued the new litter and found homes for them!!!
FAF also helped me with providing kibble/ canned food for the adult strays in the neighborhood. My interactions with them whether via social media or in person have always been great! I hope that they can continue all the great work they do for the neighborhood kitties!
FAF has a great group of volunteers. MaryAnne set up the TNR for the strays in my neighborhood, then came back to check on them. They set up "feeding stations" to make sure the cats are taken care of. They even drop off food to those who help feed the stray cats.
FAF works tirelessly to provide rescue, care, and re-homing of stray and unwanted cats and kittens. They assist with medical care for feral cats and cats of people on fixed incomes. As an ALL VOLUNTEER organization, without a "fixed" location, this is no easy task. They work with local pet stores to host adoption events, while a network of foster homes care for and socialize that cats & kittens they rescue...all from the heart, personal resources, and the donations of gracious and grateful folks that have "discovered" them.
I have adopted from this agency twice and volunteered with them. It is a great organization. Marianne and many of the volunteers work tirelessly to find homes for so many homeless kitties. I am proud to have volunteered with this group. The cats I have adopted from them have been wonderful and well cared for.
They were so friendly and knowledgable. We found a new family member at FAF and we are so grateful. Thank you!
I couldn't recommend FAF more highly. Incredible work on behalf of animals and the humans that love them. Marianne has helped us rescue, spay and neuter feral cats in our neighborhood (some we adopted) and in our broader community. We've gladly donated and will do so again. We are tremendously grateful for her tireless work.
If I could give to only one non-profit, it would be Friends of the Animals Foundation. Marianne works closely with Pamela and the Feral Cat Spay Neuter Project, and tirelessly gives her time , effort and heart to helping cats. Marianne has always been there for us when we needed traps or advice, and she's so knowledgeable, helpful and supportive. I can't say enough good things about the work she does through this great organization.
Amazing foundation that does such important work for the animals. I'd recommend them to anyone.
I adore this organization! Over the past 15 years I've adopted three cats from FAF. Each time I've been super impressed with the level of professionalism and dedication of the staff. The cats I've had the pleasure to raise are incredibly sweet, loving, and healthy. FAF has a real sense of mission: matching kittens/cats with their forever homes. As a new cat owner, I had questions about how my cats were (or were not) getting along and one kitty's cut ear. In each case Marianne was willing to talk with me and together we found solutions to the problems. I know of no other pet adoption agency that does as great a job as FAF does.
My son and I took in one pregnant cat to foster, adopted her and two of her kittens... then fostered kitties for five years. Our favorites were the tiny bottle babies, motherless extremely young kittens who benefitted from tons of cuddling and mothering. I loved that I could speak for them detailing each personality on the card above the adoption cage. Whenever we had a bonded pair, two little ones that were extremely close, it was so reassuring to know that they would be adopted together. People would always ask me how I could possibly let them go to be adopted... it was easy when I knew how carefully they would be matched with their new forever family, so they would always be spoiled and loved.
We fostered kittens in our home for five years and loved every minute of it... ended up adopting three of them. We had taken in a very pregnant mother, adopted her and two of her little babies, who were closely bonded siblings. People always ask me how do you possibly foster them if you have to let them go. It is easy when I know I have treated them with so much love and cuddling that I am confident they will be loved by their new family.
FAF is an amazing organization in our community.
Our family recently adopted our first cat through FAF. It's been about ten years since I had a cat, so I had asked for some recommendations on what specifically to get for our new cat. Marianne walked me through the store and helped me gather all of the essentials I'd need for our cat, and made sure to let me know what brands our cat was already familiar with. She leant us a cat carrier so we wouldn't have to purchase one right away. I know she truly cares for all of the animals, she spent extra time with the cat we adopted and said "Goodbye" to her, right before she was heading off to rescue another cat's life. Her love and dedication to FAF is apparent and we're so happy to have found our new family member! :)
We found a litter of kittens at our work. By the time we had a chance to try and catch them, Mama had moved them elsewhere. We found one the next day and a volunteer came and picked her up right away. Over the next couple of days we found the other two, so it was time to catch Mama. The volunteer who helped us brought out a trap and the first (and loudest) kitten and Mama was caught! Our volunteer went far above and beyond the call to rescue "our" kitty family. Thank you so much FAF!
We adopted our first cat through FAF and were so impressed with the organization that I decided to join as a volunteer. We've since adopted a second cat as well. Marianne sets the tone for this dedicated group of volunteers. She is a tireless advocate for the humane treatment of kittens & cats and goes above and beyond to find forever homes for cats from all sorts of situations. Her work with trap neuter and release and rescuing kittens from feral colonies helps to break the cycle of overpopulation. There are many volunteers who foster kittens and special needs cats until they're ready for adoption. They also help with emergency medical care. All of this is done on a tiny, tiny budget. All because of the love and respect this group has for cats and kittens.
This is a great organization that really takes care of the cats and kittens who come their way. From feral cats to those turned in due to family hardship, FAF does a great job helping to find new homes for these wonderful animals. They also spend a lot of time doing TNR to keep the over population of feral cats down. I've really enjoyed working with them over the last year.
I learned about Friends of the Animals Foundation through Next to Nature in West Seattle. Last year my family was looking to adopt a cat, and FAF offered their quick, reliable, safe, and knowledgeable services with the best interest of all involved. Even after our adoption was complete, I am still staying involved through their website on facebook, informing me of cats in need of fostering, missing cats in my area, requests, tips, reminders, and encouragement.
It was clear all along that the cats come first, and Marianne and her volunteers will not let anything stop their mission to be a resource and safe haven for cats. I love seeing pictures of all the happy cats and kittens (and the faces of their happy families) as they make their way to forever homes. But I am also so impressed by the network of foster parents and feral support members that work selflessly each and every day. My kitty was one of their many rescued cats, along with her newborn kittens. She has brought such joy to my family now, and we are so grateful we were the ones to connect with that kitten in the pet shop :)
A year ago, my family looked to adopt a cat. Friends of Animals provides a vital service for our community. They care for and introduce wonderful animals to the community while asking for nothing in return. Their focus is that these beautiful cats receive the love that they deserve. Friends of Animals just needed to introduce us to Cannoli and we were smitten. They cared for her and her kittens, gave her a comfortable home, gave her a clean bill of health and shared her with West Seattle. We are so fortunate for everything she's brought to our family. Even with a wonky leg and a life that started out on the streets, she is amazingly warm and loving.
I am happy to be able to follow the good work of Friends of Animals and see that many other families have been able to experience a similar joy from adoption that we have. Of course, the lovely cats are the reason but FAF creates all of the right steps in connecting wanting families with animals that would otherwise have worse fates. The tireless work they do to bring deserving cats to loving homes is outstanding. Thank you FAF for not giving up on our Cannoli and giving her the opportunity and platform to recruit her family.
Friends of the Animals Foundation (FAF) has an amazingly dedicated team. Their commitment to the cats they rescue is unsurpassed. They are the most compassionate, dedicated, and knowledgeable group I know of. I have supported FAF for several years now. I have also adopted cats from them. I have been impressed by their dedication to caring for the animals they work with-- in rescuing them when and where others won't; getting them the best medical care; placing them in loving foster homes, and carefully screening prospective adopters. Their commitment to the animals the rescue continues long after they have been adopted. They have even taken back animals that for whatever reason did not work out in adoptive homes and successfully found them new homes. In our case there was a beautiful cat that had had to have a leg amputated. He became injured after rescue (he was a feisty feral) and was deemed by the vet to be too energetic to allow for pins and screws in his leg. The doctors recommended amputation. FAF got him the best medical care, his surgery was successful, and he recovered in a wonderful foster home until he was ready for adoption. We fell in love with him immediately and filled out the application to adopt him. After talking with the FAF volunteers, we were approved to adopt and now have the most amazing cat ever! We remain in touch with the FAF team and they are always excited to see photos and hear what our sweet baby is up to. We encourage anyone we know who is looking to adopt to support FAF and the superlative work they do.
Our daughter has been volunteering for this great organization for many years. Through her we have learned of their work; helping place homeless cats, socializing timid/feral cats, fostering cat moms and their babies, providing medical care for cats who need it and for cat owners who can't afford this care.
Yay for the work of the Friends of the Animals!
I have followed FAF's work and contributions to helping homeless cats and kittens in the community for several years. Great resource and organization!
I foster cats and kittens for Friends of the Animals foundation. They rescue feral and non-feral cats and kittens, we nurture them and get them ready for adoption, and then they go to their forever homes. Without FAF, many many more cats and kittens would be euthanized at shelters. FAF = life and homes for adoptable cats and kittens.
I've adopted 3 cats from FAF. All have been wonderfully socialized and have become beloved family members.
As a FAF foster peep for the past 2 years, I am so impressed with Marianne's commitment and dedication to the organization and to all the cats and kittens, as well as to the community and to all the helpers/volunteers.
I have volunteered for FAF for a few years now and this is one of the most dedicated, ethical, efficient, caring, and effectual non-profit groups I have ever worked with. I'm confident that a large part of the respect this organization garners within the community it serves (Seattle and environs) is due to it's leader, Marianne. She clearly knows what she's doing and has made a huge impact on thousands of cat and human lives over the years.
I've also donated a significant amount of money to the organization because I know it will be used most efficiently to directly help cats in their care.
All in all, FAF is an excellent organization for volunteers, donations, and adoptions.
My daughter has been fostering kittens for about a year, 9 so far, and we are impressed with the dedication and care Marianne brings to her mission. Rescuing, fostering and adopting out cats and kittens is hard and sometimes expensive work. With your donations, FAF is able to vaccinate, spay/neuter, and provide veterinary care while these cats and kittens are looking for their "furr-ever" homes. We are so proud when one of our kittens goes to a great home!
Review from Guidestar
My son and I have been volunteering for FAF for over 4 years and we have seen many cats/kittens adopted to wonderful homes. Our director does an amazing job of running the foundation. She volunteers countless hours adopting cats/kittens to the appropriate people, taking them to the vet, caring for special needs cats/kittens, and numerous other responsibilities. Also, we have a remarkable bunch of volunteers who clean cages, foster cats/kittens, and help with adoptions. When people are interested in adopting a cat or kitten I tell them we have the best cats/kittens because they are so well loved and cared for!
I've been volunteering at FAF for the last 5 or 6 yrs. and am so proud of the all the work our fully volunteer organization accomplishes! From helping low income families maintain their pets, to helping reduce the number of unwanted litters of kittens in the community and feral colonies to community education and of course,.... finding forever homes and the "right fit" for our kitties and potential adopters. Fostering is always a fun and rewarding way of helping all the pieces of our mission come together. Cleaning cages isn't particularly appealing but is so easy and essential that I always feel good once the job is done as it helps show case our adoptable kitties to their best advantage.
I have been volunteering with FAF for over a year and have found it to be a wonderful experience. Although we've had cats before, after our last one died, we decided not to get anymore due to my partner's allergies. So, volunteering for FAF has been a great way for me to get my kitty "fix" since I don't have them at home! Marianne has set up a terrific cat rescue program and the animals are so well cared for while they are being fostered. I would highly recommend FAF for anyone in the Seattle area looking to adopt their next cat!
